The place looked dirty but I thought getting a boba drink would be OK on a hot day. The bobas were big and lumpy and hard, with white specks on them. Very strange, like they reheated old bobas. I drank a few sips and tried not to suck up any more of the gross bobas. The drink tasted weird. I pulled over and found a trash can in a parking lot to throw it out so I wouldn't drink anymore of it. 20 minutes later I started getting cramps under my rib cage. I feel like if I had drank the whole drink I would be throwing up now. My mouth tastes sour. I left the restaurant feeling suspicious...the whole time I ordered, paid and waited for him to make the drink he would not make eye contact with me. Even when I was standing right in front of him to pay, he never once looked at me. He looked down. Then when he handed me the drink he was suddenly chipper and happy. Now I feel sick and I have not eaten any food in the previous 6 hours and only drank a canned soda so I feel certain it was this coconut boba drink. The spring rolls were bad, they were basically just fried overcooked spring roll wrapper with no filling. The fried rice was not good and I think they put something in it that was spoiled, maybe oyster sauce. The Pad Thai was absolutely terrible. It didn't have any bean sprouts or peanuts in it and the oyster sauce they used in it was definitely spoiled. Pros are it is inexpensive and you get a lot of food. Paint peeling off of every surface, floor of a mechanic shop, faded fluorescent menu display, folding plastic tables like you'd find in the basement of a church, stainless steel troughs full of almost identifiable blobs of foodstuff that you hope really isn't going to be what you're about to eat. One lady working was watching Donald Trump with captions in another language on her laptop. There's art in this somewhere. Fried rice was nothing but staleness and brownness. Zero fresh or colorful items within. Nope. Monotextured chickenstuff and beefstuff had "nuanced" dimensions of salt. The menu is nicely broad, and has all the old favorites you know you're craving, but feel ...basic ordering at a nicer Chinese place. The real highlight of the meal for me was their quite flavorful sweet-and-sour sauce, which, unlike at most places, was well-balanced between sweet and sour, rather than just all sweet. True, the fried rice didn't have any vegetables or egg, but the cheese wontons were just the right amount of chewy and crispy. The atmosphere is strictly no-frills, but the people there are very kind and friendly, so it's a wonderfully comforting place to go. That fact however has no bearing on my review though. I got the chicken bowl and was majorly disappointed. The food tasted very bland and yes I put everything I needed to to make it tasty. The egg roll was not bad but not the best. After the meal I got just a touch of Montezuma's Revenge but not what I would call food poisoning. The prices are reasonable but you can get much more tastier food around the corner at Toy Thai for about the same price or if you want to pay a bit more you can go to Thai Pepper diagonal from this place. Ordered through GrubHub and I wish I didn't order from this place at all. I place my order for my partner and I, and when it gets here I immediately find out the order is all wrong! The lunch orders were supposed to come with veggie rolls, soup, and rice like it says right on their website and only one of us got rice... I ordered their general tso's chicken which was poor quality and my partner got shrimp chow mein that didn't come with any noodles so when you open the box, you're looking at a few small pieces of shrimp in some old limp shredded veggies... wtf?! Apparently crispy noodles (chow mien) to them are those crispy long crackers you put on fucking soup... SERIOUSLY? Those are NOT noodles! They didn't put in the extra order of veggie rolls either. I ended up calling and tried explaining the situation but then he gave me over to someone else. She didn't give a fuck that they messed up the order and denied everything I said. Apparently, they don't add the soups if its for delivery.... like why the fuck not? Why are you literally the only place that doesn't? It says they offer everything on their website but when they get complaints, they don't fucking change their info... Anyway I've complained long enough but I would never eat this bad quality food again or deal with the shit treatment I got again from this place. I recommend Lulu's Asian Bistro.
