Came here a little while ago to pick out some frames. We did a walk in, no appointment was necessary. The store is very nicely laid out and there are a ton of frames and sunglasses to choose from. Each staff member was very friendly and helpful, as was Dr. Tran. She was very nice and patient and answered all of our questions. At the time we purchased the glasses, my bf was having a little eye infection and he was waiting to be seen by his gp, but the ladies in the front were kind enough to give him some medicated eye drops for free. We never felt pressured to buy anything or like we were trying to be upsold. It was a very relaxed and stress-free transaction. Great location too! I followed Dr. Toy from his previous location when I learned he had moved. It is hard to find a doctor of any kind that is thorough and experienced. Dr. Toy always takes his time and never rushes the examines. He always accommodates his time with me. Sometimes I feel bad because he has to stay a little bit after they close. I always book the very last appt possible due to my work schedule. But he never rushes the examines regardless. I have had other Doctors do that which makes me think they do not care about my eyes but only their time. The staff at Focus Optometry are also wonderful as well and very patient since I had a hard time deciding on what frames to pick. On their new Grand Re-opening day, I attended with some friends. The place looked amazing! They had designer vendors come out with new frames. They had raffle prizes as well and I won!! I won 6months of free contacts which came at a perfect timing since I am running out! I definitely would recommend everyone to Focus Optometry and to go to Dr. Toy. I recently had my eye appointment here with Dr. Toy who really took the time to answer my questions and concerns. The staff was very accommodating. We found a really nice pair of glasses that suited me well so I'm really excited to go pick them up! Try to go earlier in the day because parking in Lion Plaza gets crazy during lunch time. However, they didn't get a 5 stars from me only cuz they don't have a lot of frame selections here which is unfortunate cuz their glasses here are really nice...they need to update their inventory more often. I have been going here for 4 years since my friend referred me. When the store went through new management, I thought they were closing. They got new staffs and more Optometrist. I think I have seen pretty much everyone because I went from eye-glasses to contacts and prescription sunglasses. What keep me returning is the staff. They know the insurance ins and outs. The new staffs are getting there too. They carry many name brands but limited in each. I like Prada but have not find one to purchase. Also they need a new paint job. I do recommend this place for family and anyone who only speaks Chinese or Vietnamese. read more

My exam was done by Dr. Nguyen, and my optician was Mindy. Mindy made the experience very worth while for me. I work in Alameda and she spent a good amount of time communicating me over the phone regarding my vision insurance (I'm one of those complicated patients who have 3 insurance accounts-- oops!) Both Dr. Nguyen and Mindy were attentive to my needs visually and aesthetically. Oh, and it doesn't hurt to have a plethora of frames to choose from! I have actually been going to Focus Optometry for some years now. Maybe around more or less 8-10 years. I have NEVER had an issue. I've always had great customer service with the staff and Doctors. I've always dealt with Mindy and Thuy(Sorry if i spelled/got it wrong lol) but they have been there since the beginning with me. I've gotten contacts and glasses from them and have always had a pleasant experience. I recently went to pick up my contacts and only Thuy was there at the time I went. SHEEEE was amazing. I sort of did my math wrong on how many contacts I should actually get to cover me until my next appointment in January. She saved me from being contactless (lol) and was able to get me enough to last me. PHEW! I definitely recommend this place and now my daughter even gets her eyes checked here also. read more

I went to the grand opening party.a few weeks back. There were people everywhere. And food! They had some specials that day and I took advantage of the free anti glare coating. That coating keeps the headlights from bothering me as much at night. I know I usually pay over $50 for it, so free is good. Oh, they also had raffles, but I didn't win. Drat. They have a pretty large selection of glasses and sunglasses, probably one of the larger selections in the area so finding glasses is usually easy. Went here for the first time for a last minute exam and contacts order since I lost my last pair of contacts. I gave them a call in the morning and was able to schedule a same day appointment for an exam which was super convenient. Got in and the receptionist took a moment to ask a few covid screening questions, as well as some health history questions. Told them what I needed (which was a new set of contacts) and they gave me all my options to consider before I went in for an exam. When I met the optometrist, she was very friendly and welcoming. The part I admired the most about her, is that she was in no rush during the duration of my visit. She was very easy to converse with and answered any and all questions I had about my eyes and vision. She also let me try out different brands of contacts to see which were the most comfortable for me. She even gave me a sample of transition contacts which were the coolest things ever! I felt very valued as a patient of theirs and was glad i chose to come to this place. I'd definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for an optometrist. read more

I chose to come here because they were one of the few locations that open on Sundays. Thuy was especially helpful - she was so patient with me when I wanted to try on every single colored contact lens =) and Dr. Nguyen was also very helpful in getting me exactly what I needed. EXTREMELY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE I had great experience for my eyes exam and even selecting my glasses. Based on this experience, I will definitely gave them at least a four star. At the time of my order, I specified how important for me to get my glasses in two week due to I broke the last pair and down to nothing. I can't survive long without my glasses. Unfortunately, great experience won't last. When I checked on the status of my glasses, the lady who answer the phone was telling me that it will need to wait another week and a half to two weeks after my 12-day wait period. I told the sales that at the time of my exam, I emphasized the importance of getting the glasses in two weeks. I told her if I don't get it in two weeks, I will cancel the order. I hope she will take me seriously and try to see if she can rush the order for me. Instead of helping me to find a solution, she HUNG UP on me by saying will call you when the glasses get here. Should I get frustrated or what? I definitely have terrible experience with them. Based on this, I will definitely give them a ZERO star. read more

This rating is just for the time it took to get my glasses after order, not for my eye exam, which I mentioned in another review here was the best I've ever had and Dr. Choi was awesome!!! Ordered two pair, it took almost 1 month to get both glasses back, the first one took more than two weeks, and it looks like they forgot to send the 2nd pair or something so that took more than another week too. If you really need glasses asap (you don't have spares) don't order from them. Also make sure you ask for the case on your glasses, esp. if they are expensive high end ones. It seems like they are quick to "forget" or "overlook" giving you the case which often contains original cert. of authenticity/warranty info (e.g. armani eyewear), wipe cloths, etc. read more

My family has been coming here since we've been in America (from elementary school till college) and we have always been very satisfied with their service. The staff is very helpful, especially Mindy, who's always there to answer our questions and she is very professional and patient! Whenever my mom drops by the office or calls in with questions about our insurance or contact lens etc, Mindy is always available to answer her questions thoroughly and efficiently. My sister and I used to see Dr. Anthony Toy when he worked here and he was always very knowledgeable about any questions or concerns I had with my contacts and glasses and explained everything we needed to look out for (since we both have pretty high prescriptions). Though he no longer works here, the new doctor I recently saw was equally as helpful and and friendly. I have used them three times and every time I have had issues. They try, but they don't cut it. 1. The doctors at the place seem somewhat inexperienced and always seem rushed. The result in an incorrect prescription -- ex: slight higher or different cylindrical prescription. In two cases I ended up having to change my prescription after I got my glasses. Seriously uncool! 2. The office manager Mydung (?) is not professional. She has been rude to me on more than one occasion. They don't follow-up as needed and when you do, they treat you like it's your fault. They once took an entire month to give me my glasses giving me the excuse that they sent the incorrect frame (after I followed up) -- and even after that I discovered that the lens was cleanly fitted (no quality control). I would recommend avoiding. Yes, there may be other places that are worse and private stores are great for the community, but I am not going back there. read more

I was referred here to get my eyes checked. The staff was professional and friendly. The pricing was on the expensive side.

Honestly my experience here is superb. Let me begin with I started feeling some pain and irritation on my left eyelid, then the following day my left eyelid was just swollen. Immediately as soon as I got to work, I told them I have to see a Doctor, went to yelp and chose the "Open now" and closest to my location. It is 9:30 in the morning I called them and asked "Hey I have an emergency my eyelid is swollen and it hurts, is ok if I come by so the doctor can see me?" the lady over the phone says "Let me ask the Dr." Literally 10 seconds later she said "Yes please drop by". Just from this alone shows you how much Doctor Choi and the people that work here cares about their patients. No appointments or anything just called and walked in. I'm not saying this will always be the case but let's just say I got lucky. I got there, mind you I have never been here at all. Didn't even know they exist and I always get sandwiches from the place right next to it. So that being said they asked for my name and other information and literally 3 mins later they said have a seat and we'll have Dr.Choi see you. I've been to other places where this could've easily taken 30 mins just getting your information. This was very fast and to me that's important because at this point my eyelid is very itchy. Now Dr.Choi comes out and brings me inside the room (not sure what it's called). Just from telling her what my symptoms are she knew what it is. She did some testing and proceeded with giving me the prescription and what I should do to get this eyelid fixed. I'm a bit of a social butterfly so that's why the whole experience took longer but maybe if I didn't talk too much the whole thing would've lasted 30 mins at the most. This is also important because I still have to go back to work. To me this is a huge plus. That being said I was sort of in a rush (not really) to go back to work that I actually forgot my Doctor's note. Immediately they called me saying that, but I was already at the stop light. They said that's fine and we'll just email it to you. Fast and convenient I couldn't ask for more. I have a follow up appointment with them next week. I'm sure it will be a bliss just like the first time. read more

Dr. Cheung was really thorough and super professional and friendly, and her great cheerful personality sets my mind at ease during my examination. The staffs was outstanding, especially Pauline and Mindy, They took their time to make sure I got the right frame that matches my face, and Mindy adjusted my frame when it arrived in only 10 days. I had a very good experience when I came to this place. I called in to make an appointment for an eye exam and was able to get in and out of the store within 45 minutes. The front desk staff was nice and friendly and answered all my questions regarding my vision insurance. After filling out some health and personal information forms I went in to have my eye exam with Dr. Tran. She was also nice and very patient. She seemed very knowledgeable because she answered all of the questions that I had and told me about my options. I ended up getting some contact lens. I had a very bad experience at this optometry office. The quality of the prescription lense from the store was so poor it gave me headache and eye fatigue. When I tried to return the eyeglass, the store staff refused to work with me. Their only concern was getting the deal done with no regards to customer satisfaction. read more
