From start to finish, our experience with Salem Heating was absolutely fantastic…read more Scott, the estimator, was extremely helpful as we were choosing the equipment. We really appreciated his low key approach. He really heard us, rather than trying to sell us, and patiently answered all of our questions. Next came Ed, who prepared all of the calculations, list of supplies, etc. that would be needed by the installers to efficiently do their work with no snafus or need to leave for supplies. He also patiently answered all our questions. Based on Scott's recommendation, we decided to have our ducts cleaned prior to installation and he set up an appointment with Oregon Duct Cleaning to do so. ODC was a great recommendation and we're very happy with the job they did. They too, patiently answered all our questions. Finally, Mike and Mitch did the installation. We hit the jackpot with those two. What a GREAT team! They were professional, tidy, patiently answered all our questions, and obviously took pride in the quality of their work and the quality of the Lennox products they installed. Mike went a step further and went into a VERY tight portion of the crawl space (he literally had to shimmy in and out) where he discovered a major section of the ductwork had not been properly installed. He fixed that and thoroughly sealed the ducts to the vents. We are so grateful to him for going that extra mile as the problem wasn't visible until he got inside the area. No wonder that part of the house was, depending on the season, either hotter or cooler than the rest of the house. He deserves a bonus for his effort.

I called back after not hearing for a while. This was happening during spring when it was still cold. Finally someone responded to my calls that they had no parts and I'd have to change it altogether. When I was finally told they could not fix it, I sent them a check for the full amount for the second service call. Now months later, I received an invoice in the mail for 49 cents. I called to see what was up. The lady who answered the phone said it was the interest for late payment. Mind you this is the first invoice I received since I sent the full payment. I reminded her I waited to pay based on their advice. And it would cost more to mail a check with stamp being more expensive: she basically said I could pay over the phone to her (which I don't like giving my cc info to people directly) or mail it. I will mail it but will never do business with them. After years of being a customer, $0.49 will be the value of service I received.

They don't need business, apparently. Extremely rude staff…read more Family has patronized Hendrix Heating before, but when I was asked to call this company to investigate the process of installing a ductless HVAC with heatpump, this company showed its true nature: petty and vindictive. I called first thing in the morning, right as they opened, excited to start the process of updating the property (currently has no AC and only a wood stove for heat). I explained who I was, why I was calling, and what my family wanted. I explained that I was not the owner, but I'd been asked to gather information from a local installer on their behalf, and that they would be available to approve any visit for estimation. I left a callback and waited more than an hour before checking with them, again. The scheduler not only refused to answer even general questions about their services, but told me the reason she had not called me back was that she was going through messages from the weekend. I said "oh, that's fine, can you call me when you get to my name on the list?" She said "no, I won't be calling you" and ended the call. I called back and spoke with another woman and expressed "frustration" over this. I told her we absolutely understood that the property owner needs to authorize an estimation visit, but stressed that I was simply tasked, at this stage, with gathering info and recommending a vendor for the service. I asked this second rep if the company has too much business and does not see value in answering prospective customers' general inquiries, and she said "no, we definitely do have time to answer questions". I thanked her and asked that the scheduler call me back. She said she would. The call ended. No call came, and our family contacted Hendrix again only to be refused any level of service (despite, again, having spent multiple thousands of dollars with this company in the recent past), due to me being "rude" on the phone. Our family simply called a competitor -- and I urge anyone reading this to call another company. This company does not know what to do with direct prospective customer feedback that is offered without rudeness, colorful language, or raised voice. I would much rather provide this kind of feedback directly to a company and keep it out of the public sphere, but at this stage, since this company is not professional enough to handle one on one communication, I am putting this out to warn others.

I am very disappointed with the installation and the subsequent customer service I received…read more The new faucet that was installed became extremely loose shortly after installation, began leaking, and did not function properly. I have a video documenting these issues. Since the faucet was clearly not performing as it should, I purchased a replacement faucet and contacted the company to ask whether it could be installed as a replacement. I was informed that I would be charged an additional $325 for the installation. I found this charge unreasonable, particularly because I had paid $472 for the original installation just one day earlier and the faucet installed by the company was not functioning properly. I ultimately hired another plumber, who charged $150 and completed the replacement in approximately 20 minutes. During that process, it was discovered that the original faucet had been installed with plastic disks that restricted the water flow. Additionally, in attempting to tighten the faucet to prevent it from becoming loose again, the original plumber cracked the underside of the fixture. Unfortunately, the damage resulted in the faucet being broken, and I was therefore unable to return it. Given the cost of the original installation, the problems that developed immediately afterward, the additional charge requested to correct the issue, and the damage to the fixture, I am very dissatisfied with the quality of the workmanship and the handling of the situation. I expected a significantly higher standard of service and workmanship for the amount I paid.
