Our furnace wasn't giving out heat. I inspected the furnace and discovered a pressure valve error. I called Focus and got an appointment the next day. The tech came out and fixed the furnace. He reported water in the condenser line as the problem. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The repair cost $136 which I think is very fair. I recommend this company. I will definitely call focus in the future if we have HVAC needs. read more

Right in the middle of a heat wave and my parents' heat pump stops. We called around to a few places. Most could only service the unit 2-3 days out. It was 100+ degrees every day, so we needed someone fast. Lucky for us, we called Focus. They are a local company and were able to come over after hours for an additional fee. Within 2 hours, John was working on the heat pump. Not only was he a pleasant man to deal with, he was knowledgeable, showed me exactly what was wrong and what he was doing, and he did so quickly and efficiently. The office staff was great, too. The Good News: We chose Focus Heating and Cooling from the quotes we received as they were recommended, and the quote was reasonable for a new gas furnace to power our boiler system. (We really like radiant heat.) We were converting from an old electric heater to gas so it involved the gas company hooking gas up to the house and then Focus installing the furnace to work with our boiler system. They also removed the old furnace. Everyone we spoke to at Focus was polite and professional. The actual furnace installer was very nice and polite as well, and the furnace is finally working well, as it should. The not so Good News: The reason for 4 stars is that my husband lost work time/money due to leaking pipes around the furnace being installed incorrectly causing leaking. (And replacement furnaces are already a hit to the wallet!) We couldn't go anywhere for more than a day because the water leak would fill up the buckets. Each time we had to wait days for the installer to come back (a total of 3 times) and my husband had to miss work with each event that should have been corrected the first time. And although a mess can be anticipated (and they did come back to clean the floors at the end of the project) there was soot all over our basement for days, covering stored items in the basement and tracked up the stairs. read more

Called after the heat wave, and said, "Hey, I'm not having any issues, but haven't had a yearly service in a few years, and given how my system cooled like a champ, I wanna give it a spa day!" They got me on the schedule the very next week. Customer service via phone was perfect. Kind, friendly, helpful. The tech that came was awesome. He showed me anything and everything, we had pleasant chat, and my dog loved him. (Always trust the dog's opinion!) I came out into the garage where the unit was at one point, and my dog is sitting right with him, and he's talking to the dog and showing him things. LOL. I learned how to take better care of my system so it'll work even better for me, and it showed -- the next heat wave we had, the system ran less but kept it even cooler. So these were the third guys we got a quote from when replacing our HVAC unit last year. Their prices could not be beat, and we are really happy with our new RUUD system (the old RUUD system lasted 25 years, so no complaining about that either). They understood the weather was hot too, and when an opening in their schedule popped up unexpectedly they got us in, so we were only without a/c for a few days! We also had to learn how to program the new thermostat, so they came out again a few weeks later to show us some of the bells and whistles on the new system, which was great. We first met Jason from Focus Heating in December 2013 when our slumlord called him to come fix our furnace. It was an old furnace and couldn't be repaired, held together by duct tape, and louder than a diesel truck. Jason saw that it was failing and red flagged it. He installed a beautiful Train system and in two days, despite being in a snow and deep freeze weather system, we once again had heat. He was willing to stop by throughout the next year and check on things when I had questions or problems. We ended up having to move and that beautiful system sits in an empty house, unused, but from the beginning Jason brought quality and professionalism when we needed it most. This last week, in our newest rental home we live in, the pilot light in the water heater went out. Our rental company also uses Focus Heating and I gave Jason a call, he remembered us, showed up three hours later and re-lit the pilot light while I was at work, chatting with my husband who is recovering from eye surgery, was so kind and helpful and polite. I cannot say enough about Focus Heating. They are top quality, service-oriented people, as friendly and courteous as you can find, thoroughly knowledgeable, and once they help you, you're never a stranger again. I called the company up to fix the problems of my furnaces in both of my rental units. One unit needed to change the thermostat, Brad said, and he did without my permission! For the other unit, the technician didn't replace anything but just cleaned up "something at the back" as the tenant told me. They charged me $182.5 for the first unit ($80 for the diagnosis only + $60 for the thermostat + $42.5 for the labor just to replace it). The other unit was also charged $80 for the diagnosis only. However, BOTH UNITS STILL HAVE FURNACE PROBLEMS TODAY! The problems recur just a month after they came. I talked to Jason, who was so unprofessional and impolite. I said the problems never solved but he maintained his technicians checked it, and it was the thermostat problem. No, they didn't really find out the real problems! They just listened to my tenant suspicion in the thermostat and then changed it EVEN WITHOUT CALLING ME AND ASKING FOR MY PERMISSION! I said I did a research for the same brand thermostat, which was just around $30 but they charged me for $60! They stayed for just around half an hour and didn't need a 2nd trip for the replacement of thermostat, but they still charged me another $42.5 for the labor PLUS the $80 diagnosis! Jason gave me a series of excuses and didn't want to give me any credit back for their unskillful work done as well as overcharged thermostat. Bottom line is: The problems still exist in both units! But they said they are still going to charge me for the diagnosis if their technician come out to check because there may be new problems! Really? They NEVER fixed the problems before! read more
