They don't need business, apparently. Extremely rude staff. Family has patronized Hendrix Heating before, but when I was asked to call this company to investigate the process of installing a ductless HVAC with heatpump, this company showed its true nature: petty and vindictive. I called first thing in the morning, right as they opened, excited to start the process of updating the property (currently has no AC and only a wood stove for heat). I explained who I was, why I was calling, and what my family wanted. I explained that I was not the owner, but I'd been asked to gather information from a local installer on their behalf, and that they would be available to approve any visit for estimation. I left a callback and waited more than an hour before checking with them, again. The scheduler not only refused to answer even general questions about their services, but told me the reason she had not called me back was that she was going through messages from the weekend. I said "oh, that's fine, can you call me when you get to my name on the list?" She said "no, I won't be calling you" and ended the call. I called back and spoke with another woman and expressed "frustration" over this. I told her we absolutely understood that the property owner needs to authorize an estimation visit, but stressed that I was simply tasked, at this stage, with gathering info and recommending a vendor for the service. I asked this second rep if the company has too much business and does not see value in answering prospective customers' general inquiries, and she said "no, we definitely do have time to answer questions". I thanked her and asked that the scheduler call me back. She said she would. The call ended. No call came, and our family contacted Hendrix again only to be refused any level of service (despite, again, having spent multiple thousands of dollars with this company in the recent past), due to me being "rude" on the phone. Our family simply called a competitor -- and I urge anyone reading this to call another company. This company does not know what to do with direct prospective customer feedback that is offered without rudeness, colorful language, or raised voice. I would much rather provide this kind of feedback directly to a company and keep it out of the public sphere, but at this stage, since this company is not professional enough to handle one on one communication, I am putting this out to warn others. read more

We have purchased furnace, and AC from them. Service is always great! They just replaced our condensation pump which had caused our AC not to work on a very hot day. I'm very grateful they could fit us in. read more

I first reached out to Hendrix when I bought my home a little over a year ago. It appeared that the system had not been routinely serviced for several years. I was very pleased with the thoroughness of their work, and the care that was taken with clean work. Although I know there are less-expensive alternates for this service, their work is well worth the few extra dollars. read more

My first experience with this company was wonderful. They installed some ductwork for exhaust fans. The first rainy day we had one exhaust fan was full of water, and water was dripping onto my bathroom floor. I called and they sent someone in a reasonable amount of time. They immediately realized and explained the error and corrected it. Now several years later water is filling the same exhaust fan and dripping on the bathroom floor. I called to explain the current situation and explain the events from the initial install. They were able to find the initial visit but said they didn't see any record of the second visit to an adjust whatever was causing the leak. All I was asking for was to have the leaking area looked at again to determine if their repair had failed. If so because of the time lapse I expected to pay for the repair. But I'm not going to pay the approximately $275 just to have them look at it. Especially when more than 50% of that charge is travel time not only to my home but also to their next destination. When I chose them for the original job there was no such charge, if there was, I would've chose a company in Salem instead. They mentioned in this conversation they no longer install exhaust fans. That's probably a good decision, with my experience it's clear they don't have the necessary skill level to continue that service. read more

We finally decided to add Air Conditioning. The team at Hendrix did a great job of explaining our options, giving us two quotes, installing a new heating and A/C system. They will be coming back for follow up next week. We're enjoying the cool air and are ready for the upcoming hot summer! read more

EDIT: Hey Tony R. You voted this review "cool." That made me laugh a little because this business sells and maintains air conditioning equipment. I don't have air conditioning, but still... they provide the cool. And the hot, but that's different, and there's no "HOT" button on Yelp :) ---original review--- I needed a furnace for my house some year a decade ago or so. No idea who to call; used the folks who's sticker was on the old one, and knew I wanted a TRANE. There was a sticker on the furnace from Hendrix, so I called them. The salesman came and looked at my up-blow furnace, looked at the size of my house, and recommended a few furnaces. I wanted an EnergyStar rated model in part to get a rebate and mostly to use less gas. The salesman showed me a recommended furnace. He said it would be the last furnace I ever buy for my house. I will have to call him back if it ever fails catastrophically.... My heating bills went down considerably from this efficient furnace. It would be better if I had modern insulation.... Still; it's nice. And it's nice that the thermostat knows when to turn on in the wee hours of the morning so the house is at my desired temperature at the time I set it. It's a smart thermostat that measures how long it takes the temperature to come up. Other programmable thermostats just turn on when you tell them. This one knows that's what time you get up. Yes! It was also nice to get rid of a mercury switch from the old thermostat. When my furnace was new, I didn't always have a check-up every year. Shortly after I bought it, the gad damn congress decided to make daylight savings time last even longer. Since my new thermostat (seven individual programs for each day of the week; love it) automatically changed for daylight time, I was kind of hosed. Now I had to reset it FOUR times a year. Very annoying. I hate daylight savings time anyway; this was just one more reason to hate it. Well, when I had the furnace serviced, the technician had a special code book, and he looked up the code of how to turn that feature off. Yay! He told me how to set the code if I ever wanted to put it back, but no way. So I still have to reset the clock twice a year -- until and unless we repeal daylight time for the country or at least in Oregon. But that was a great help from Hendrix! The staff was also very honest. They agreed that with a new furnace, I really didn't need ANNUAL service. I was having it done every two or three years. But Now that the furnace is over a decade old, it's time to start getting on the annual plan. So I called for service and went ahead and signed up for an annual plan. I get some bonuses; I get a discount, and they will call me before heating season to make an appointment. if I ever have a failure, I can call them any time day or night and there will be NO emergency charges. I don't expect to use this because it's a solid Trane furnace, and they are maintaining it. What's really nice is the technician left free filters with the service. The filters cost about ten bucks a piece, and I replace them at about six week intervals during heating season. They say they can go "up to" 90 days; I give them a bit more than a month. The filters cost about ten bucks a piece, so having free filters takes some of the sting out of the annual maintenance fee. Know what else? I needed two more filters for the rest of the season, and I just had to go over to their shop and pick them up. Now THAT is good service. Thanks Hendrix! read more

Very disappointed with trying to schedule an estimate for new heating and AC system. They refused to schedule anything around Mon-Fri 10-5. Not customer friendly for those potential customers who want to do business and work 9-5:30x Unable to schedule an appointment didn't seem to matter. I'm glad they showed this inflexibility before I became s customer. I can't imagine the nightmare of trying to get an appointment at 0900 for a repair. Guess they are doing so well they don't need new business. So disappointed when trying to support local companies. read more

I was highly disappointed with this company. The service tech was very professional and courteous however it appears there's a very big disconnect between the management and the techs. I most likely would have purchased a brand new system from Hendrix only after getting a second bid but I didn't even have to go that far to know it would be a huge mistake to do business with them. Hendrix installed our central AC last summer and we couldn't have asked for better service. The receptionists are prompt, organized, and friendly; the technicians were always on time, respected our home, and finished the job amazingly fast. The contracted electrician made a slight error that resulted in our city inspection being delayed, but Hendrix took care of the issue quickly and even made a special trip out to loan us their ladder for a week (we didn't have one tall enough to reach the attic furnace). Would definitely recommend if you need heating or AC work done. read more

Simply amazing service!! I called to have our son's heat issue fixed in his house in Corvallis during the snow and ice storm. I got an immediate reply by phone and email offering to get there at any time on any day that worked for us. Friday evening they came out and quickly got the problem solved. It turns out that there was nothing wrong with the heating system, just that our son didn't know all the ins and outs of working the different thermostats. So the tech took the time to give our son a run down on how to work everything. The bill came to $0!!! I had a heat pump installed on January 15, 2018 and I couldn't be more pleased with Hendrix Heating and Cooling. From the first contact with the customer representative, Sean, to the installation with Tanner and Luke, the whole experience was professional and efficient. I have a small home and the system installed was the exact size I needed without being pushed to a bigger, more expensive system. Sean was friendly, helpful, and followed up with an inspection. Hendrix replaced an old furnace with a heat pump at our house and from the beginning, the process was as professional as it gets. The rep who came out to provide an estimate was very knowledgeable and was able to spec out a system that fit our older house and still qualified for efficiency rebates. The installers were efficient and careful. They had the new system up and running by the end of the day, which amazes me. This is really a mixed review. They did an awesome job installing our new heater. The technicians were awsome, the sales rep was really nice, but after talking to the owner I have a bitter taste in my mouth. They had taken working equipment that I wanted to keep and threw it away. I had expressed that we wanted to keep said items, but that was NEVER communicated to the installers. The job was done on Friday and I call the following Monday to inform them about their mistake, but was told by the owner I'm out of luck and that if I really wanted it back I can come dive through their garbage bin to retrieve the items. I felt insulted and disregarded since the job was already paid for. I'm not looking for anything for free, I just want my working items back or the depreciated value of them. I would have given them a one star review, but I don't think it's fair to punish everyone for one bad seed. read more

Strange to read the negative and non-specific review from Doug S. who lives in Arizona, condemning a Corvallis company he never used, for no particularly clear reason. Weird. Anyway, Hendrix Heating installed new HVAC and thermostats for us in a large residence. Bid was lower than others, equipment was superior, salesman was attentive to concerns and quickly steered us toward the most economical high-quality solution, ongoing maintenance personnel over the two years since installation have been superior, competent, kind, and trustworthy. There is nothing disappointing about this company at all, very satisfied. When it came time to renew the maintenance contract, I had the feeling their renewal prices were a little higher than average, but I haven't had time to compare with the competition. They did a super job on a complete Heat Pump system. They did all they claimed and the equipment runs fine and quiet after some tuning and follow-up. They came back as needed and even gave a free service call after 6 month to verify. I could not have asked for more. Way over priced on plumbing/water heater work. I had a water heater installed by Hendrix Heating based on the fact I had used them in the past for other work and liked the service I received. I called upon them for a new water heater they rushed one over same day I called couple other "plumbers" and they charge a healthy 350 more than anyone else. I brought this to the managers attention they would not work with me and suggested they come get the product and refund all my money. Needless to say I was happy to have them come back out and take out the water heater they had installed. However, too much time was waisted and the company did not appear to have sound values. read more
