FnG was an FnJoke. Barkeep couldn't have been less interested in serving us. Had the personality of a fern and never checked on us after begrudgingly serving us our first cocktails. Had to do the "Excuse me, we'd like to order an appetizer," bit. She didn't care. Took over an hour - yes, you read that right - to finally get the appetizer. It was good, and, after waiting for it, whomever delivered it from the kitchen apologized, but still charged us full pop for it. Over an hour, and the bartender never gave us an update. Sure glad my wife and I had a lot to talk about. Never even entertained ordering an entree, otherwise we'd still be sitting there. This was our second visit to this place, after swearing it off after the first visit from a couple of years ago. The first visit was sub-par, as well, and ended with vacuum cleaners running and chairs being stacked around us and the other guests, but we thought we'd give it another try. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me. There won't be a third time. FnOut. read more

This place was average. Good. Not outstanding. The drinks were nice, they have heir own infused vodkas&whisky. Ambiance: hectic, busy, noisy. The kitchen is open and visible to all on the restaurant. It's neat in one respect in another it's distracting - seeing a lot of movement and colors, as well as servers rushing around out of the corner of your eye. Food: good. Pricey for the taste. My chicken was really good, better quality than elsewhere, however the sides were bland. Not bad; I've had better at less expensive places. My husband had a burger and fries(his fav food). Slightly overlooked. The fires have this great seasoning but he couldn't eat more than half due to how much seasoning. My brother had the bison mac n cheese. I expected something amazing- it sounds amazing ... but it was also just fine. With all that, i felt it was a little overpriced... Overall, worth trying if you're in the area. read more

This is my husband and my favorite place to eat. We like to come on Sunday or Monday from 5-7. Half price bottles of wine, plus happy hour drinks and appetizers. The food is delicious. At this point we have tried most of the menu. The BBQ shepherds pie is great but it's hard to go wrong with anything you order. They have seasonal items and make updates to the menu so it's nice to come in and try the newest creation. The deviled eggs are always great. I haven't had their brunch yet but the pictures make it look amazing. The drink menu is fun. They have competitions for best drink of the season with their bartenders. I think this because I always want to try a different cocktail. One thing I have noticed though is there is a lot of bourbon based ones. Not a huge fan of bourbon but great for those who do. The staff is always so friendly. The one thing I will say is the ventilation isn't that great. If something smokes it gets into the entire restaurant. Only happened during one of my many visits. read more

Visiting from out of town and came by here for a bite. Food was good, but it really is the friendly service that made it special. The host Grant was great, and the waitress, her name started with a D, sorry! She was outstanding as well. The manager checked in on us a time or two to make sure all was good. Will be back to eat next visit!! read more

New to the area and so happy to have stumbled upon this delicious place! Take advantage of the beautiful patio and enjoy some wine as you unwind. They have a great selection of both red and white as well as craft liquor drinks and craft beer selections. For dinner I chose the fish & chips- oh my goodness I have died and gone to fish heaven :) the portion was massive and not greasy at all. It was exceeded my expectations for a high quality fish and chips dish. My husband chose the short ribs and was very impressed with the flavors as well as the portion size. We passed on dessert in lieu of another round of drinks (when the baby has a babysitter who can resist?!) but the chocolate cake was clearly a favorite since it made an appearance on every single table. Highly recommended and very excited to come here again for round 2,3,4 and 5. read more

Relatively empty restaurant at 7:00 but they would not seat us in a booth "just in case" a party of 4 came in. Our only option was a table for four (see the irony?) right in front of the kitchen. When we asked for a different table the older hostess was incredibly rude, said no, and literally flipped a cleaning rag at us. This is the second time we've encountered this. We left. read more

My review is based solely on brunch and a salad. Yes, a salad. We arrived at lunch, only to find we can only get brunch. You know some restaurants allow you to order from their lunch even if it is brunch. Not at FnG Eats. You can only order from their brunch at brunch, lunch at lunch, and well..you get it. I wasn't happy about the ordering only brunch. If I recall correctly, 11 am- 2pm was Brunch. 11 am is lunch to me and 2 pm is nearly dinner! I didn't want brunch, but it's all good. I was a little upset because I wanted lunch. Maybe pouting a little. The kids were cranky. The husband and I were all grouchy because of the cranky kids and from not eating. So, we weren't the happiest bunch. I got the Beef tipped salad. I even fumed a little over a $14 salad. This better be a damn good salad I thought (farm to table, Krista..duh). The salad consisted of seared tips, pickled onions, croutons, and tomatoes. It was topped with A1 vinaigrette. I took a bite of the salad and I wasn't so upset anymore. I felt all warm and fuzzy inside. I silently ate this delicious beef tipped salad hoping no one would ask me for a bite. My husband ate his french fries with a smile on his face. The french fries were awesome. I don't remember what he got besides the french fries because I was so into this salad. I now know why they are named FnG eats. I absolutely will be back to try actual lunch and dinner. read more

This really bums me out to write this update, because I have been a huge fan of Fng Eats for awhile! I eat there at least once or twice a week, and really support its mission to use local produce. The food is pretty great. I usually get the macadamia chicken club salad, love their citrus pound cake, and today had their turkey cranberry sandwich which was delicious! Actually, this review is based on customer service. I highly recommend the food but can no longer endorse this restaurant based on my experience today. I came to eat with my young daughter. Once we places our order (sandwich, salad, soup), it took an hour for our food to come. I eat here a lot and usually it takes maximum 20 minutes for food to arrive. Our waiter never came to check on us, to give us more water, to apologize for the wait or offer an explanation. People who'd been seated after us, received their food while we still waited. I tried to flag down our waiter but since my daughter was in a high chair, I didn't want to leave the table. Finally our food arrived. I was incredibly frustrated. And it turned out our order was incorrect- and the second time it was incorrect too, but i just took it because we were starving. I plainly told my waiter how unacceptable I felt this was, and asked to speak to the manager. He said the manager was busy but would try to come soon. Another waiter I flagged down gave me the same response, even when I told him that I had had a pretty terrible dining experience. I waited twenty minutes for the manager, but he never came. I left Fng feeling pretty devastated. I've experienced systemic bias against women in this area of Texas, where businesses don't treat women seriously who are alone or are with children. But I never expected to feel so invisible at one of my favorite restaurants. Sure, it was only one time, and all my other experiences there have been great. But it made me feel mad and bad enough that I won't be dining there again. Guess I need to find a new regular place! read more

When I took the first bite of my hamburger the first statement out of my mouth was "Holy Sh@# this is a damn good burger!". That statement alone probably explains my rating but the customer service was just as good. Being a former restaurant manager I know that service typically goes down hill after the lunch rush but that was not the case for me. The restaurant was practically empty around 1pm and I received dinner rush service. read more

Our first visit was challenging.. we came in with a child and requested the only open booth and were told that was only to be sat with 4 or more, then another couple came in with a child and were sat there. I did notify the manager and he was apologetic... so that set the tone. The food is very good, service is very good.. our second visit we sat at the bar with no child and the bartender seemed uninterested in us and we had to ask for menus. Again food was good but unless you were drinking heavy at the bar... which we only ordered one, we seemed to be an inconvenience. Food A+ - Service C I believe food and customer service are the product in any establishment... We did give FnG a second chance and probably will not go back. read more

BEST BLOODY MARY I'VE EVER HAD. The mix is made fresh daily by hand and they infuse their own pepper vodka! I can't order a Bloody Mary anywhere else after this. As for their cusine... Very fresh, contemporary, and flavorful. I had their salmon and it was perfect. I have also had one of their pasta dishes containing a cream sauce with veggies (don't know the proper name of it. It was a while ago) and it was also very good. The menu is small so anything you order will be good as the cooks don't have to memorize a larger menu, giving them time to perfect the small menu they have. I haven't had a dish here that wasn't great. Any of their desserts are tasty, as well. read more

After eating lunch and dinner here a few more times, I'm bumping my rating down. I'm not sure if FnG is trying too hard or not hard enough, but each time we've been here, something just wasn't right about our food order. A couple examples: 1. At dinner this past August, I had the pork chop stuffed with carmelized onions and cheese (maybe gruyere?) and topped with something like an apple cider reduction. The hubs had lamb and subbed scalloped (or au gratin) potatoes for the mashed. The pork was a tad overcooked, not in a major way where you'd send it back, but just enough where it was missing that succulent mouthfeel that pork has when it's cooked right (the reduction served on it was absolutely delicious btw, so kudos for that). The scalloped potatoes that accompanied the Hubs' dinner were served in a ramekin, which was nice, but were woefully undercooked. Raw potatoes are not good eats. BTW, they were not busy that evening. 2. Recently at lunch I had the fish sandwich and specifically/explicitly asked for NO tartar sauce. The server mentioned that it comes on the side, so I said OK whatever. So the sandwich comes out slathered with tartar sauce and I have to send it back (I will not eat mayo on fish). Of course they made me another one and it was tasty, but the problem is that I had to sit there and watch and wait while the Hubs is eating his lunch. Then he sat there and watched and waited while I ate my lunch. It's awkward and not what you expect when you are there eating TOGETHER. BTW, we got there around 1:30 for a late-ish lunch and they were not busy. I'll probably eat there again, but I wish they'd get their act together. When a place is packed, you kind of expect a faux pas here and there. But when you're one of only a handful of tables, shouldn't someone be able to get the food right? Service has always been friendly, but maybe too friendly. I don't want a new best friend. What I'd really like is someone to make sure the kitchen gets my order right. read more

I am reminded of why I don't come here more often. My husband and I went for lunch today. I ordered the MKT fish sandwich. The bun was great. The fish was moist and flaky. What I don't understand is how there could be so little flavor considering the components of the sandwich. The fish tasted like it wasn't seasoned at all. The rooster slaw was so seriously under-seasoned that all you could taste was raw cabbage. The dill tartar sauce was visible but was not discernible to the palate. With my very last bite I finally tasted dill. Past visits have been hit-and-miss. I like the J.A.C. & Roqamole a lot. But the last time we had it the Roqamole was brown. And I don't mean just a little on the top - all the way through. If it were the end of a slow night and we were one of the last customers it might be a little understandable but it was a Friday night, the place was packed and there was a waiting list for tables. I wonder how may other tables that night had the same issue. It's looking like it's time to say good-bye. Too bad, too, because I have had some good food here in the past. read more

I really wanted to love this restaurant. When you walk in, it smells amazing. That got me really excited. We were seated, out came the drinks, and then we ordered our appetizer (Triple Dip). It had already come before our waitress came back to get our order. I'm pretty sure she only had us and the two tables beside us. The Triple Dip was alright, but all three of the dips are so dang strong that you're tired of it after one or two bites, so you move on to the next, repeat, repeat. I'm guessing that's why it comes in a trio instead of serving them by themselves - you'd get overwhelmed by the flavor after just a few chips. Hubby got the Bison Burger and didn't have much to say about it - I didn't try it. I got the Chicken Tierra. It was decent, not great. I was kind of tired of it about a quarter of the way through. Every single thing we ate here was okay, but *just* missed the mark of being really delicious. For instance, hubby's side salad came with raw nuts. Had they been toasted, or better yet candied, it would have really taken the salad to the next level. Little changes here and there could really benefit the restaurant. But the bourbon-soaked cherry on top of the whole experience was when the waitress served this very pregnant lady an alcoholic dessert. We ordered the Bourbon Cherry Chocolate Bread Pudding. Yes, the word bourbon is in the name, but I naively thought that most (if not all) of the alcohol would be cooked off. Or, at the very least, that our waitress would say something to the pregnant lady ordering a dessert swimming in alcohol. It was disappointing. And the bite that I did have wasn't even that tasty. I don't think I'll venture back this way, unfortunately. read more

Went to FnG Eats last night for a late birthday dinner for my wife (8:30pm-ish). Perhaps they were just wanting to wrap things up for the evening, but the meal was very inconsistent and overall disappointing, which is a departure from my past experiences there. I ordered the FnG Burger, which was really very good and cooked exactly to order, but was told that there were no french fries so I was offered their "Root Chips", which was a variety of potatoes and taro spiral cut and deep fried. The Root Chips came out cold, soggy and greasy. Apparently, they had been cooked earlier in the evening and just tossed on the plate. Very disappointing expecially after being suggested by the waiter as an alternative. I could see he was embarrassed. The wife ordered the Fish and Chips and the batter actually came out a little "rubbery". Her Chips (french fries) were well cooked but seemed to be out of a bag even though the waiter claimed they were fresh cut. Wait, french fries?!?! He had just told me there were no fries and he proceeded to serve them as "Chips". Despite our express disappointment, there was no effort to correct the experience. I was pleased with my first 2 experiences there. The Ahi Tuna Tacos are phenominal and their Beef Tip Salad is very good. But it appears that there is some issue in the kitchen with consistency. Their reputation took a hit in my book last night. They're not out and I'll definitely give them another try. However, one more experience list last night and I won't be back. read more

Will never go back to FnG eats. Totally appalled on a Saturday evening when we walked in. The Manager immediately greeted us with we are closing in 10 min and last call was in 5 minutes. We were a little in shock with the greeting. We ask if we could sit at the bar and order food and drinks. He immediately said again we would have to hurry up to order and time for one drink only. It was apparent he did not want our business so we left. We thankfully found the new hot spot, Horizon 76 on 377. They welcomed us very warmly even though they were approaching close. They said take a seat and take your time as they would be there another hour or so cleaning. We are new fans of this place and will only patron places that appreciate our business. I'm surprised FnG does not appreciate additional business especially during these times. They didn't complain when we ordered lots of take out months back. Spend your $$ elsewhere. read more

Been here four times in past year. Service and attitude is the biggest issue here. Hostesses almost always have a poor attitude. Service is mediocre at best. Temperature is almost always too cold. When we request them to raise it, they tell us the staff gets hot. Seriously? It is definitely a chef run operation. Good food, but poor operations with little, to no attention to service. The wine selection is done by a staff member, not a true wine person. And, who does half price night on bottles $50 and below. Ridiculous. How about $100 or $200 and down? Again, chef driven, not operations. In closing, place is decent. Just too many other really good places up the road in South Lake. read more

We were in the area so we decided to try this. There was nothing bad about it, but besides the decent wine, it didn't seem any better than a Denny's. The bison burger was overcooked, the waffles of the chicken and waffles were dry (my 6 year old pointed that out) and the prime rib Benedict seems like a good idea but the hollandaise was bland as was the "prime rib" (and it was sliced like roast beef). The service was good which is why we didn't give the place a two. read more

I ducked in here for lunch on a whim, and was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed the food. It seems everything is farm-to-market, or at least freshly prepared. I ordered the 1/2 turkey cranberry sandwich with the 1/2 salad: best. turkey. sandwich. ever. Smoked at the edges, fresh cranberry sauce, melt-in-your mouth cheese, and crispy onions on fresh toasted bread. Salad had fresh lettuce, apple, pecan, and peach dressing. I devoured my plate quickly and made a note to return, as I did not feel overly stuffed or weighed down after (a huge plus for me!) This place is nestled in the Keller town center and is casual enough for lunch, but the ambiance is nice enough for a sit-down dinner as well. Definitely a nice change from the usual! read more

I have to admit, I love this place!!! And that says a lot for me because I'm pretty picky. My husband and I finally were able to go for dinner last Monday night. We had Stacy for our waitress and she was great. She explained the menu and we ordered the chicken cranberry sandwich and a hamburger. Both were outstanding. It is a very comfortable setting inside and we sat a while after dinner and didn't feel rushed. Like a neighborhood restaurant should feel like. My friend and I went yesterday and sat on the patio for lunch. It was just as comfortable and delicious. Keller is finally on the map with a great restaurant!! read more

Was excited to try this place--finally got a chance to get away without my kids for an evening and visited earlier this week. Unfortunately, I was underwhelmed. Environment gets 5 stars--very fun and hip. Nice patio area, and comfortable seating. Drinks get 3 stars--extensive menu options, but $9 for a 8oz margarita does not get me excited. Service gets 3 stars--wasn't super busy, but still didn't see much of our waitress. Food gets.....3.5--hard call to make. I got a strong impression, both from the menu and the entrees, that this is a place that is trying REALLY HARD to appeal to foodie types who like trying new combinations and flavors...but it just isn't clicking somewhere. The food was just ok. Nothing that blew me away or I feel a need to return for. Plus--pretty pricey. Most dinner entrees priced over $20--and at those prices, I expect something extraordinary. Overall, just kind of an 'Eh' experience. Don't feel a need to return. read more

I really enjoy this place, I have been here a couple of times for lunch and everything was fabulous! Atmosphere, food, drinks and service. Food is always very fresh and seasoned perfectly. Their bloody Mary's are great too, perfectly spicy. I don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu but if you try the turducken burger the cherry bourbon jam has a nice kick of bourbon... If you're not a bourbon lover it can really over power the flavor. I'm looking forward to trying the dinner menu, it looks like they have some great happy hour specials too! read more

Just had dinner there tonight. I live in FTW, so it was a little of a drive to get there, but I will totally be going here again. So amazing. Our waitress, Amber, was great! She was friendly, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic. When the food came out, we were all impressed...the presentation was beautiful. And the food....the food....wow. I had The Bomb Chicken with the J.A.C. Macaroni....wonderful. One of my friends got the Pork Chops...probably the best I've ever tasted. My dad got the Flounder special, which he refused to share, so I have to assume it was amazing as well. He was happy to learn see they not only knew how to make an Old Fashioned, but had one on the drink menu. I had a glass of wine, and my friend had a few of the FNG-tini, a cucumber infused martini, which he raved about. Excellent meal and service from start to finish. Creative menu, great service, wonderful bar....it's a win, win, win! Worth every penny and the drive!!! read more

This was my second visit to FnG. My husband and I were back in the area visiting family and came for the bourbon dinner (10/23/13) and it was fantastic. The spinach and goat cheese salad was amazing. I was ready to stop eating after the wood grilled quail course (w/ Pepadew peach glaze), but there was still beef tenderloin and dessert to go so I "suffered" through it all. One of our favorites. Chef Bob and team always do a great job. Love the bar and service. Nightly specials and drinks. Awesome!

We visited on a Sunday afternoon so they were busy. We opted to sit at the counter that looked at the kitchen. This seat was very enlightening on how they prepare their food. It was a bummer to watch them use pre cooked poached eggs, scrambled eggs, and hollandaise sauce. The hollandaise sauce was in a bucket on the counter for the entire hour we were there. Not much was cooked to order and the waffles that were, were so very dry. Wasn't worth the price or the wait. read more

OK - I do think it's funny what the name of this place implies... but, it lives up to it. Went here with a group of 8 (including couples, a younger child and a teen) - and there was something for everyone to enjoy. In an area not heavily populated with locally sourced ingredients done up with a chef's touch at reasonable prices - this is a gem. Add on a nice bar area and a wide selection of cocktails and beers, and you have a place that is as good as a local hang-out as for a nice dining out experience. Crowd reflects its ability to meet all ages needs. Almost all the food we tried was 5-star worthy and the freshness of the ingredients shone! We tried a bit of everything. Flat iron steak (very good, great shiner demi, and wood-grilled asparagus that make my best-ever asparagus list), Hay and Straw (rich noodle dish - the peas listed on the menu were replaced by green beans - but, didn't hinder it at all), FnG burger (Yum, great size), Cubanini (listed as an app - but big enough for a meal). My selection the Tuckdurken Burger was the least successful of everything. (For some reason the duck didn't translate to more moist, flavorful burger - wish I'd gone with the Turkey n' Bourbon Burger). Root chips which included yucca etc., where homemade deliciousness.) Must gets are the decadently delicious chocolate ganache cake and the Bourbon Cherry Chocolate Bread Pudding (swear you can't go wrong with Bourbon and Chocolate!). The server did well for the large group he had - but neglected to point out that there were daily specials and didn't seem as familiar with the menu items as one would have expected. Ambiance is casual and comfortable with pictures of fresh veggies and a view of the kitchen (which always makes me feel more comfortable). Bottom Line: Great fresh, delicious food and good drink selection addition in the Keller area - that has something for everyone. read more

With no other seafood options available on the menu, we ended up leaving.
