My wife and I had a wonderful dinner last night. Maude is such a terrific server/Manager. She is very attentive * remembers returning guests * keeps the dining room running smoothly when it's busy The food was terrific. The wine is on the expensive side but it is high quality. My wife would prefer a less expensive Sauvignon Blanc but the one she had from CA was very good. I had 2 cocktails. 1st a "perfect" Manhattan that I would say was weak. I don't know if it is because the bourbon was too low grade or the flavor was off. My suggestion is to add more bitters. I had the same drink next door @Thai Bistro the prior week that was significantly better. I switched to espresso Martina and that was very good. For dinners I had the Japanese scallops which were very good and my wife had the salmon (sushi grade). You should not walk out the doors without eating the Grand Marnier soufflé. I go to Next for business and friend lunches frequently. It is excellent because it is quiet and the service is good. read more

I'm more than a little chagrined to discover that our last visit here was eleven years ago when I after that visit posted here on Yelp a Five Star review. Yikes! Whatasmatter with me? I'll do better, Next! Promise. We stopped in for a rather rushed lunch between appointments in Colleyville and then Grapevine. Fortunately the server that welcomed and attended to us, Joshua, moves about the restaurant attending to his quests and tables at basically the speed of sound if not light. He is remarkably efficient and attentive. We decided to go with a house Chardonnay and a house Sauvignon Blanc. After a taste of the Sauvignon Blanc I remarked to him, "This is a terrific house SB, what is it? ". "You got better", he replied. LOL. Obviously the house SB was unavailable and rather than coming back and telling me that it was unavailable requiring me to select what would have been a more expensive selection, he simply upgraded it. Class act. I uncharacteristically decided on meatloaf and Anne, quite characteristically, the blackened redfish. Fish is such a dicey proposition in even some of the best of restaurants as it is so often overcooked. This could not have been cooked more perfectly by Eric Ripert! Super moist, flaky flesh with flavorful blackened spices and sear. The very generous portion of meatloaf is smothered in a rich sauce and tender mushrooms. The vegetables here are clearly shown some love. The fresh medley is cooked just right with tasty seasonings. The rice is attractively and tastily garnished and a great compliment to both these dishes. Just an all around delightful luncheon experience in what is such an enjoyable ambiance and setting. read more

Our family eats out a lot. We also write a lot of reviews. I don't say this lightly: this restaurant failed at every possible level. Let's start with the belly bites. "Burnt" doesn't even cover it. These things tasted like they were cooked a week ago, left under a heat lamp, reheated multiple times, and then served with a straight face. Rock hard. Completely inedible. What should've been tender and delicious had the texture of candle wax. Every single person at the table spit them out--literally--and we sent them back. Then we waited. And waited. One hour and fifteen minutes later (yes, really), our entrees arrived--despite the restaurant being half empty. For that wait, we ordered a $57 ribeye, a $49 sea bass, and chicken parmesan. The chicken parmesan looked and tasted like something you'd get at a discount diner. Watery tomato sauce over overcooked angel hair, topped with what appeared to be two frozen chicken breasts and round slices of provolone melted on top. Awful. The pasta tasted like it had been boiled in dishwater. The sea bass? The smell alone was enough to kill the appetite. It genuinely smelled like a gynecologist's office. When the server asked, "Does everything look good?" the entire table exchanged eye rolls. The mashed potatoes underneath were fine--sadly, the only redeeming thing on the plate. Now the steak. They called it something fancy--Koji Aged CAB Ribeye. Sounds impressive. It wasn't. Zero flavor. No salt. Instead, it was drowning in what tasted like Worcestershire sauce. The menu never mentioned it being marinated. Had it said so, I never would've ordered it. Between the gristle, fat, and overpowering marinade, I couldn't even finish it. The side of rice tasted old--like it came straight from a bag--with exactly three pieces of broccoli and one sad, overboiled half-slice of carrot. Not even a whole carrot. Drinks? Four waters and one iced tea. The bill? $158 + tip For less money, we could've eaten at Perry's Steakhouse and had a phenomenal meal. Instead, we got overpriced, painfully slow service and some of the worst food we've ever been served. Overpriced. Slow. Inexcusable food quality. We won't be back. read more

It's in that Colleyville real estate bubble you know. That taken from a conversation we were subjected to at the next table nothing but Colleyville real estate how to sell your house and what to do with your house and how to make your house appealed and more buyers and on and on and on it was nauseating. Don't do it! We just left from our Valentine's Day meal and it was horrible. It was a 3 course meal with a small appetizer and lack luster main dishes. You receive one piece of carrot, one piece of broccoli and one piece of cauliflower. The price was ridiculous for the amount of food we received. This place is truly over rated. As noted by many, the service was VERY slow. Perhaps this is attributed to the "made from scratch" nature of the food. Based on the fact that some of the entrees were hot while others were much less than lukewarm it seems like timing may have been off, causing some dishes to sit and wait for others to be prepared. But the fact we saw our waitress on the phone outside both when we entered and left, I think that may explain why we didn't see her for a long period of time. We heard about the locally made bread... that's not served with the meal. $5 extra. The food itself once received was decent. The four-cheese ravioli had a somewhat thin, milky tasting sauce. But not bad. Wedge salad was fine. Ambiance is nice. If there was a 3.5 option I'd have given that, which pretty much falls in line with the average here. So I think we had a typical experience. Popped into Next for an early Valentine's Day dinner with my Fiancé and couldn't be happier we did! We had a reservation and were seated immediately upon arrival. Our server Maude was very charismatic and quick with service but never made us feel rushed. The place really does give off the whole "Bistro" vibe, dim but not dark, music was present but didn't impede conversation. The star of the show was the food, which is generally what you hope for at a restaurant I suppose haha. We felt that nearly everything we ordered was priced correctly (sans maybe the Brie) as you got PLENTY of food. My duck was the. BEST. I've had in years. So crispy yet not dry. A good amount of meat (if you eat duck often you know you're usually getting mouthfuls of bones lol). And I could have drank the sauce by itself, it was that good. My fiancé said that every bit of his seafood was cooked to perfection, and the seasoning on point! 10/10 recommend! read more

Looks like a Dairy Queen from the outside but is gorgeous on the inside! We started with cocktails and the martinis and cosmos didn't disappoint. Then appetizers: we had the scallops, beef egg rolls and the crab tower. All were very good - we ordered another round of the egg rolls. For my main, I had the yellow fin tuna and it was seared perfectly. The truffle mashed potatoes were delicious as were the sautéed edamame and mushrooms. I highly recommend this dish! I do NOT recommend the duck. One of our dinner mates finally just gave up, leaving more than half of it on the plate. It was so tough and rubbery, she couldn't get it off the bone. Note: Ying was not at the restaurant the night we were there. Service was lacking - not sure if the waiter was new, having a bad night or perhaps had tables in the main dining room. First visit was on Mother's Day. I had checked out the menu on their web site which looked really good. Surprised that on Mother's Day there was a set menu and price. Problem: a six year old who is very picky. Only choices for him was Parmesan chicken and a beef slider. Price of $75.00 (for adults) included an appetizer, entree and desert. Drink specials ranged from $7.00 to $13.00. Service was good. Escargot was great. Salmon dish was very good. Wagyu flat iron steak was good. Duck breast was good but too fatty and almost warm. Great wine and bar selection though. We will probably go back during a regular lunch or dinner service. Actually wish there was something similar in north Arlington. The outside is nice and clean to this restaurant but does not fully represent what you are about to experience. The barrel aged Old Fashion is the best I have ever experienced. I will not report how many I had. Tried to order wine, after not having the second bottle we selected, we continued with the Old Fashions. The salmon was on point, perfectly prepared. Brussels sprouts normally do not impress me, but these certainly did. Not a dessert fan but the soufflé was amazing. All this added up to me purchasing one of the nice pieces of art that were available for sale. Maybe I was encouraged by the Old Fashions.... I wish this restaurant was in my city. What a local gem! We've heard about this place but haven't had the opportunity to get here, until tonight. Date night for us and we stopped by NEXT. We isn't have reservations but they were able to seat us immediately. The place was full as well. (They do take reservations by the way.) The menu has a jam packed variety including a wide variety of wine and cocktails. (Beware if expensive cocktails- all said and done- one drink "whistlepig" was $25.) The food menu was expansive with a feature list of new and/or seasonal items. We ordered an ap - burnt belly and a salad - whole iceberg and split between the two of us and both were very good. I had the shrimp scampi with angel hair. My husband had the filet. All very good. We will definitely come back. I was impressed with the menu and quality of food. It's not a cheap night. It's been a bit since we've been here. The outside has been newly painted and some remodeling inside. It looks very nice. They have a very extensive wine list of $$$ wines. Our server told us to have more than one selection since they run out of many. That was the case for us. The wine service was not up to par considering that they seem to promote themselves as wine experts. Dribbles down the carafe and pouring across the table as well as handling the stemware incorrectly. Oh well! Food was adequate but not great. Crepes were pretty decent, black garlic infused pappardelle pasta with chicken, mushrooms and sun dried tomatoes was only so-so. Not very flavorful and sun dried tomatoes were rubbery and tough. The saddest part was the sous vide double pork chop which wasn't at all as tender and juicy as it should be. We have loved the owner-chef for a long time but I'd bet she wasn't present since nothing was up to par. Service was more haughty than helpful. read more

My friend and I had wine and apps last night. Absolutely amazing!! We had a pear app, crab cakes and Brie cheese with bread. The wine was recommended from the restaurant manager. He gave us so much info on the 1/2 bottles and such and types and flavor notes. So so good!! We are at the bar which I think paid off in getting some good info on the wines. Love Next!! read more

Transport yourself to a cafe next to the river swine in Paris. Have a glass of wine and start off with the escargot and dip your warm bread into the buttery garlic parsley sauce. The French onion soup was missing the gruyere cheese but the caramelized onions was good, need to cut back on the salt about 20%. Roasted Brussels needed more roasting, crab cake was solid. For our next trip, we will skip the sides and try another dish maybe fish? read more

The best food in Colleyville! It's hard to go out and get consistently well made food and cocktails. Next Bistro takes pride in their craft and you can taste it every time. If there is something you happen not to like they are accommodating and generous in response. I went to Next a few days ago and will never go back. The restaurant was nice looking on the inside- tables with white tablecloths. Very clean. Too bad the food and service was bad. I got half sandwich and salad. The lettuce was old mostly brown - not fresh. The dressing was horrible. The club sandwich tasted alright but it was missing the bacon. My friend had been there several times and was very unhappy with her meal. She got the grill chicken breast with Artichokes in garlic sauce . Her chicken breast was a chicken leg with the skin on . Wife and I had dinner. Made a reservation and our table was waiting for us. Wife started off with a cocktail that she said was "exceptional " and she never says that. I don't drink, but I took a sip and I have to agree. It had coconut milk and rum along with other stuff. We cannot remember the name or all the ingredients. Next was appetizers. Wife had jalapeño potato soup which was creamy and not too spicy; very tasty. I had smoked pork belly bites that were absolutely perfect blend of seasoning, smoke, and tenderness. Wife had beef Wellington with truffle mash; cooked perfectly, very tender and truffle mash was outstanding. I had duck with a cranberry sauce that was also perfectly cooked with a nice crispy skin. The accompanying risotto was off the charts great! We ended with dessert. Wife had crème brûlée that was again flawless. I had the absolute best chocolate soufflé that I've ever had. It was a masterpiece of presentation and taste; absolutely outstanding! This was probably in my top five best meals ever, and I've had all these components over the years at other restaurants around the United States. I heartily recommend Next Bistro! read more

We arrived at Next Bistro at 1:45 pm (their website said they serve lunch until 2:30 pm). We ordered wine and were looking at the menus when the waitress came over and basically told us we needed to hurry and order because they were about to stop serving lunch? Once our food was served, the waitress didn't come back to check on us. My husband got a hamburger and the cheese wasn't melted (at all) and the bun was cold. He was able to flag down a different waitress who apologized and said she would have them heat it for him. Then our waitress appeared and told us she was just able to catch the chef who was already walking out the door (at 2:07 pm) so it was our lucky day that they were able to stop him and get the hamburger bun heated. We proceeded to try enjoying our lunch when suddenly (at 2:15 pm) the background music in the restaurant was turned off. It was now completely silent in the restaurant and our waitress went over and started closing the shutters. There was one other table of ladies still in there as well. We asked for the check and the waitress said "oh, I'm not trying to rush you out!" (when clearly that's EXACTLY what she was doing). We both had wine to finish and I still had half of my sandwich! I asked for a to-go box and we just left the unfinished wine. I've never experienced anything like this at any restaurant!! Typically, if a restaurant claims to serve lunch until a certain hour, you are able to arrive before that time and order a meal. We were made to feel bad for arriving 45 minutes before closing and then basically were booted out before their official closing time. We were so disappointed because we are new to Colleyville and were hoping this would be a good restaurant. We won't be returning. I gave my review one-star because the atmosphere in the restaurant is nice (white tablecloths, good wine selection, quaint) and the food was ok. None of that matters when you are treated so poorly though. Unfortunate. :-( read more

My wife and have frequented Next Bistro on many occasions, and have always enjoyed the atmosphere and food. Expensive, but decent quality. Unfortunately, on our most recent visit (which included another couple as our guests) the experience was still expensive, but with ZERO quality. The service was inexcusably horrible, our waiter overtaxed, rude, obnoxious and inattentive. Of the four entrees we ordered, two arrived cold - not warm - cold... My Sesame Crusted Tuna steak was thin, fatty and obviously overcooked. Overall, one of the worst dining experiences that I can recall. At the height of the catastrophe I left the table to seek out the manager, to request a change of server - the staff were unable to identify a manager, and no one appeared at our table to check on us. Nightmare. My wife and I go out to dine frequently, and as Colleyville residents we prefer to support local establishments. However, there will be NO NEXT for us at Next Bistro. read more

First experience was great! Came for lunch at 11am (1st people in the door when they opened). By noon most every table was filled up and reservations were needed. The taste of the food and the presentation was very good. My salmon was served on a butcher block along with the vegies. Stumbled across this place while visiting Dallas. Tbh, I was just trying search terms intended to stop making the top 18/20 recommendations "steakhouse!!!" Glad I found this place. Kind of off the beaten path in a building that will have you trying to guess what it was before it was Next Bistro. Extremely eclectic menu with a definite tilt toward French and seafood. But, it's a tilt. There was Crispy Mongolian Duck and cioppino alongside sous vide Elk and Pork chop. Everything was very tasty. We had escargot, tomato & peach salad special, sous vide pork chop, and Cedar planked salmon. Oh, and a chocolate whiskey cake dessert. Enjoyed it all. Good wine/cocktail lists and good service. So many things we'd try on a next visit. Don't let the menu overwhelm you. There's something for everyone and our server was good and getting us off the fence when we were having trouble choosing between two items. read more

One and Done. Food tasted good. Very small portions. Expensive and left hungry (Our entire party of three). When we made the reservation, we were asked it there was any special occasion. We stated "Yes, a Birthday". When we ordered desert, it was nothing special. No candle...just expensive. Service was so-so. Our water was filled to the top...but little interaction with our waiter. In fact, when we were first seated, our waiter came to our table asking if we were ready to order drinks. No Greeting nor introduction of his name. Not the best experience nor value by any means. Next is good. A lot of it is really good. Definitely the best thing that ever lived in a upcycled taco bell. I have found it to be somewhat inconsistent. I went with my mom and we got similar dishes with different proteins. Mine was great, she said her meat was very not good. Edible, but not good. I have also been served a tiny sliver of salmon for an entree and a massive dish of bread pudding for dessert (im not complaining about a big dessert though-don't misunderstand!). So good food, but maybe ask a lot of questions if you have strong feelings about portions and/or chicken. read more

My bill tonight was $100 and it was not worth it. I ordered the Elk Tenderloin medallions. They were charred on the sides, there was no taste to the meat. It will be my last visit to Next. I recently had a birthday dinner at Next Bistro. It's a nice little spot that has a lot of potential, but unfortunately their service and food leaves a bit to be desired. We were promptly greeted by our server once we sat down. He was attentive throughout the night - no complaints there. However, after looking at the appetizers, we settled on the Duck Rillettes appetizer. A few minutes later, our waiter came back and told us they were out of that. We then settled on the Crab Napoleon Tower, which was okay but very overpriced for what you received. Prior to ordering my meal, I asked if they were out of any of the dishes since several of them had "limited" next to them. He said no, so I decided on the Dry-Aged 14oz N.Y Strip Steak... a few minutes later, he came back and said they were out of that as well. I finally settled on the 8 oz filet, which was cooked well. It comes with cheesy spinach, which I found to not be very good at all. I took 1 bite and was done with that. They do have a pretty good list of bourbons and wines as well. The others I dined with complained that their food was pretty bland and lacked some flavor as well. Overall, I don't know that I would be a return customer. read more
