We are almost done with building our house. During this construction period we had interaction with many many different suppliers for all types of different materials. Without doubt we can says that we had the best experience with FMD. They supplied all our interior doors, crown moldings, interior columns, door locks, and hardwood flooring throughout the house. FMD handled all our questions professionally and with respect. They showed willingness to work with us and provided alternative ideas. Sam, Ali and Trini have been pleasure to work with. My wife and I are very pleased with responsiveness of FMD. Our interaction was over extended period and their was no drop in the high level of professionalism throughout this period. We recently had Brazilian Teak installed,kitchen/family room,dining area,hall way. We actually had the job started by a contractor that was recommended by a G/C that did the original hardwood floors/full kitchen redo 20 years ago.The sub-contractor that he recommended I won't talk about. A lesson learned. We stopped that job before anything more went wrong,and I did research to find a suiteable contractor.At the same time I was looking for a good deal on the material. We interviewed and got quotes from 7 contractors,as it turned out I went into FMD because I couldn't find Lumber L. so I stopped in to look at the product and get an idea on cost. I met Homer,I explained my situation,he came over the next day to quote on the job. He was on time,very polite and told me they could either finish the job that was started if we choose,or pull out the product and restart,it was up to us.He did not push either way,just said they would do a good job in what every we decided. After a few weeks we decided to have the floors pulled out and new material put in. FMD's quote was in line with the others. I had a good feeling about Homer,and the service he would provide. He brought in Enrique and his team,I can't tell what a great job they did,they were there on time,and at the time I requested, they cleaned up everyday after themselves.I've worked with many contractors over the years and I have to say these are one of the best I have worked with. read more

Exceptional customer service and workmanship. We had problems in two of our doors. I went to the store assuming I need to replace the doors. I talked to Ali who started showing me new doors. But when he came to know problems in my doors, he suggested to have them fixed. I was very pleased that instead of trying to sell me new doors (as most would do), he offered the right advise and service. I also felt comfortable since they have a huge workshop at the back of the store. Ali coordinated everything. Next day, two people came to my house took one door out, and took some part of second door. They took it to the shop. First door was made prehung door with a new frame around it, while the for the second door a new part was made. The same day, they came back and installed everything back. Poor quality doors. The closet doors are breaking and these are only 4 months old.

I did not find the matching crown molding at another shop so I came here for my search. I showed the salesman the sample from my house and he knew immediately which one was the matching one that they had in stock! I needed just 10 ft of it but they sell it only the full 16 ft. But they said they could cut it at 10 ft for me and I also take the extra 6 ft so it could fit in my van. And it was even cheaper per linear foot than the equivalent one from Home Depot (which was the same style but a bit too thin on the thickness). read more

I stumbled upon this place by accident. A friend recommended me to a flooring place on Brokaw. I saw Empire and FMD across the street from each other. I picked this place thinking it was the one my friend was telling me about, but turns out that he was talking about Empire. Anyway, I go in on a Sunday and find a pretty good selection of laminate inside the store. They seem a lot more reasonably priced than Home Depot and the samples seemed to be of a better quality. I really just went in there to browse to get an idea of how much these guys charged, but I saw they had a sale going on until the end of February with a laminate I really liked. It was originally $1.89/sq ft and it was on sale for $1.39/sq ft. They scheduled a measurement for me the next day and broke down how much they thought it would cost for the laminate, baseboard, and installation. I agreed to the price and put down a deposit. For those of you keeping score, I've got a 5 star review for them at this point...maybe a 4. So then the installation process begins. They initially scheduled me to have a Friday/Saturday installation, but I got a call on Thursday saying they can't start until Saturday and they'll hopefully finish on Sunday. No big deal. The crew shows up on Saturday and works from 9:30 am until 11:00 pm. Kudos to them for getting the job done in one day, but I started to notice some things right off the bat that makes me wonder if they would have done a better job if they spread the work over two days. For example, they didn't clean the floors or the counters. There was a HUGE amount of dust everywhere because they ripped up old tile to put in the laminate. Even if they didn't wipe down the counters for me, they should at least clean the floors so that it looks new. Then I noticed they had broken a picture frame. Rather than tell me about it, they hid it in a corner and said nothing. Same with a dinner plate. I found that in a dustpan of mine they were using. And I found their garbage from their lunch all over the place. I'm not the cleanest guy in the world, but I'm not a fan of finding Panda Express containers in the bushes of my front lawn. Then I noticed they had damaged some drywall while installing the baseboards and they chipped some existing laminate that wasn't being replaced (and was only a couple years old). And they didn't even move the furniture back until they saw me trying to do it by myself. Again, I get it that they worked a long day and probably just wanted to go home, but I never said they had to be finished by Saturday...I'm just wondering why they felt the need to do it all in one day. Even if they were ordered to finish in one day, that does not excuse the stuff I just listed. It should be noted that the floors that were installed do look pretty good. There's a couple spots that don't look the best, but overall, I like the way the laminate looks in my house and can't find too many imperfections. So the store calls me a couple days later saying they want to make sure the installation went well. I told them that I'm happy with how the floor looks, but started to tell them about things...like the picture frame. The response was, "I hope it wasn't of sentimental value to you," and they asked for authorization to charge my credit card for the rest of the balance. Seeing how I wasn't going to get anywhere with my gripes, I dropped the rest of the complaints and let them charge my credit card. We'll see how the laminate holds up. I've got a dog and there's already some marks showing up in the laminate...not scratches, but marks in the laminate that are flush with the wood. Assuming it holds up okay, I'd still give the store a 4 or 5 star rating for the product itself without installation. It goes without saying that I'm extremely disappointed in the installation services. I feel I would have been better off picking up an amigo from the Home Depot parking lot and it would have been a lot less than the $2.50/sq ft (plus $450 for removing the old tile) that this place charged me. The installation experience was horrible enough that it almost completely negates the good deal I got on the laminate...and the apathy of the employees at the store about my complaint is just icing on the cake. I wish I could give this place a 1 star review, but the selection and prices of the laminate is good enough to give it another star. If you're going to do business here, buy the laminate/wood/tile from here but save yourself money and headache by getting someone else to do your installation for you. read more

We were very happy with the help we had while in the store. During installation, there was No commutation and there was a lot of problems ... my floor had to be done three times. This means that the floor had to be sanded three times as well. The problems were.... Even tho the finish was beautiful, the whole color was wrong it didn't match the rest of my floor like they promised. The second re-do, the finish had "Chatter Marks" through out the entire floor. The third re-do, a whole area was missed with the stain finish, Homer at FMD was very difficult to deal with, any problems or concerns he would only want to talk with my Husband and not Me. Homers idea of taking care of the problem was to tell my Husband he could do it. Homer also made a point to tell us that he stands behind his work and wants the customer to be happy. We are Not happy, that Homer didn't get someone to repair the floor. One of the big issues we had was regarding the "Bull Nose" they just went ahead and installed a much smaller "Bull Nose" and the flooring with out talking to us. It left a large whole in the granite and made our step smaller. When we brought this to Homers attention and told him that We would pay to have a custom "Bull Nose" done he refused because he would have had to re-do most of the floor. We had to go down to the store and insist they put us on the schedule, after that he sent out another worker to fix the whole in the granite and fix the step. When the step was done, it was built over the carpet, not the floor, the stain color doesn't match any of the flooring in my whole house, It looks fake and he put a wood trim over the granite ...UGLY. When they removed the old flooring in the entrance hall, they broke the trim on my stairs. When I spoke to the worker, he said " We don't have that size miter". I spoke with Homer and he agreed to fix it. We are still waiting for it to be done. The workers never stayed late to complete anything. They would not discuss any of our concerns. They were gone. Homer did a terrible job on any follow up, we had to do all the calling to him. We felt very put off. Homer wanted to forget about us because he had been paid for the job. I think Homer really has a problem dealing with the women of the house, he would ignore what I had to say and would just go directly to my Husband like I was not in the room. This job was very unprofessional and we A have to live with the imperfections everyday. I would not recommend FMD to anyone unless you don't mind living with all of the imperfections . HUGE selection of crown moulding and base boards!!! I never knew this place existed and thought I would be forced into buying base boards from Home Depot with their very limited selection, but thankfully our flooring company referred me to FMD for base boards. They have a wide selection of base boards all on display and once you find what you like- they have small samples for you to bring home for free so you can compare. Bring a pen and paper with you to write down the ones you're interested in and all the samples are there for you to find and take as needed. This was sooo helpful is making the final choice. What I didn't particularly like is that you have to ask someone at the front desk the price per foot as it's not listed behind the showcase. You can save yourself an initial trip too by going to their website as they have ALL of their samples online. This was a great feature I had wished I knew about prior to making the first trip over. Another thing to consider is that they only sell their base boards in 16ft lengths making it virtually impossible (or dangerous) to transport without proper clearance/racks. I didn't dare try it in my crew cab truck so I forked out the $45 delivery fee whereas big box stores sell their base boards in more manageable 12ft lengths. read more

I came to FMD for crown moulding material and landed up using their services for carpet installation as well. Homer is exceptional at customer service and he helped me with all the remodeling needs. He even referred me to a general contractor who helped with the remodeling at a very short notice. Given the service, I didn't even bother checking prices elsewhere. He even took back material which was unused. While we are waiting for the carpet install, Homer has been constantly in touch with status updates, product information and scheduling needs. We looked everywhere and bought all our moulding for our house from them. The best selection, quality, and price. Their price is half or less of the price at Home Depot for much better moulding. PLEASE DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS VENDOR. I got ripped-off by this vendor in 2 ways. I ordered hardwood floors from here and when the shipment arrived, it was of a different color. To make the matter worse, they had sent me 2 different colored wood. One I had requested and one which was totally a different color. These 2 different woods won't even fit into each other. My contractor wasted almost 5-6 boxes of wood and I ended up paying the contractor about $500 more for extra work. I lost the extra money I paid to the contractor and also several boxes of wood. I lost a total of about $700. HOMER from FMD does not want to take responsibilty for his mistake and he started blaming the company that sent the wood. The shipping company was blaming FMD sending me to a wild goose chase. This company has no ethics and does not care about customer service once they get their money. I lost lots of money because of FMD, so PLEAE STAY AWAY FROM THESE GUYS IF YOU DON'T WANT TO END UP IN A MESS LIKE ME. read more
