This is a really cool place with some delicious coffee and food. Loved the cozy atmosphere and the family vibe you received from the staff. Beautiful outside patio surrounded by cranberry bushes. This is definitely a special place.

Flying Squirrel is a place you don't want to miss when you visit Talkeetna . You can stop for Breakfast , lunch or dinner . You can stop for a light snack or just for a delicious loaf of freshly baked bread to take home with you . Oh , and they also have fresh produce for sale when it's in season from a local farm . The service is fast and the staff is friendly and efficient . The flying Squirrel is a wonderful combination of bakery and restaurant . They have a wonderful array of fresh baked breads and pastries and cookies . They feature a special soup each day . I always look forward to visiting this place .

Great bakery and cafe a bit hidden from the road outside Talkeetna. It's pretty busy inside while it doesn't look like it from the outside. We had the toast and Sunday classic (smoked salmon bagel) and both were delicious. The bagel is a bit different than the usual kind. It's smaller, harder and a bit crunchy on the outside. The plates comes with two slices of fresh fruit which was also delicious.

This has a cool atmosphere, and is a healthy option. The bagels are homemade but are pretty plain and bland. There's a pretty limited menu and it seems the menu was different than what we saw in the store. The staff was friendly though and they do have a selection of a lot of home made cookies, breads, etc

If you are driving and are trying to make it to Talkeetna and you are hungry? This is you stop. It is not seen from the road so you have to look for the sign on the side of the road. I love going to small businesses and supporting the small business owner. The service was great and pretty straight forward. The menu changes and it is written on a chalk board. I had a bowl of the American Goulash and their breakfast sandwich. They make their own break and you can taste the freshness. They also have coffee, tea and other drinks but NO BOTTLE WATER. They do have a pitcher so you can get the water. The restaurant is quaint and wide open. They have different kinds of tables. For 2, 6 and even a high top. Sometimes they have live bands and all in case that you want to stop by and pizza on Wednesday and Saturdays.

Easily the best breakfast place in Talkeetna. They don't have a fancy menu just a few breakfast and lunch items but hey less is more. We ordered Good Morning Sandwich and Classic Sunday ( bagel with cooked salmon and cream cheese). Everything was fresh and delicious! They have many baked goodies too. I got the walnut rugelach which was very soft and not too sweet. We tried their drip coffee and mocha which again did not disappoint. Make sure you help to clean up when you finish and put the utensils in the bins. It appears they still operate at 50% capacity. They also require customers to wear masks which seems uncommon in Talkeetna but that did not bother us at all. They have masks by the entrance if you don't have one. Just respect their policy.

As soon as you walk in the smell of the fresh baked goods draws you in. They have a good assortment of things to choose from and it's a nice pit stop. I got the Classic Sunday and was pleased with the quality of the smoked salmon. There was a generous amount of salmon atop a spread of cream cheese, tomatoes, and fresh microgreens. The whole grain bagel it was in was also amazing. It had a nice texture to it. I also got to try the Cafe au lait and barley chaga tea. Chaga is a mushroom that has antioxidant benefits. It tasted slightly earthy but not so earthy to deter you. I loved it and plan to buy some later.

Loved this place. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. The place is cute, warm, and welcoming. The bread was delicious - the baguette was just perfect. I had the Sunday breakfast which was a bagel with smoked salmon and it was fantastic. There's a little play kitchen which was great for my 5-year-old. She didn't complain while we waited for our food. I'm sad I missed their pizza night because I'm sure it would have been amazing. I don't know if I'll ever be in this part of the world again, but if I am - I will go here.

My husband and I visited Talkeetna with friends who recommended this place. It's tiny and eclectic inside, but the service was kind, and the food was good. The first time we went, we had the Babka, the Classic Sunday Bagel (cream cheese, tomato, smoked salmon, and micro greens), hot cocoa, Mexican chai, black bean brownie, and their Not-a-breakfast burrito with everything. It was all delicious! I dare say it was one of the best bagels I've ever had! The brownie was moist and rich without being overly sweet. The Mexican chai was spicy and warm. My husband didn't share his burrito, so there you go. My husband and I returned for lunch the following day because we were intrigued by the description of the Fancy Grilled Cheese. It was good, but not as impressive as we hoped. I thought it would have been better with green apples for that tart punch. I wanted more spinach and found the crust a little tough. My husband and I still enjoyed the grilled cheeses, which could have been more robust and flavorful. Regardless, we recommend this place for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They had a diverse menu and a daily variety of baked goods that included dog treats, so stop at The Flying Squirrel!

Pizza nights are the best!

A surprise of soft French bread was still delicious but not your traditional crispy bread. I think I actually preferred the bread here as it held the flavors well and made eating it less of a mess. The mint was a nice touch along with the traditional cucumber and daikon but I was missing some of the heat of there jalapeños normally included. If this had been I. A larger market like Denver, LA, Chicago ,etc... I would have given it 4 stars. Governed are 100 miles north of Anchorage with not many choices I gave it five stars because who could have expected a Bahn mi worth eating for $17 in this location. Again price being relatively reasonable for this area options so it's pretty good for the price For dessert I had the Blueberry Rhubarb crisp. Tasty and $7 was fine for this location. Service was friendly but took about 12-15 minutes for the sandwich, the dessert they gave us right away. Remember to bring cash as that is the only option they offer for payment!

Located…read morein downtown Talkeetna, the truck was easy to find and I recommend checking out their hours and menu beforehand on Instagram. We got there around 11am and ordered one serving of spinach bread for the two of us. It was pretty busy and we waited about 10 minutes before our spinach bread was ready. Spinach bread was pretty good! It came out nice and hot and I liked that it was cheesy and soft. It pretty much tastes like what I expected, but was well executed. $9 is a little pricey for one square of spinach bread though, so I'd maybe get it again if I was craving a savory snack

I know the main restaurant, North Fork, opens at 6 AM as well, so there are plenty of options if you have an early excursion. My husband ordered the Alaska breakfast, and I ordered the herbivore scramble. We both opted for sourdough because Alaska has some of the best sourdough we've ever had! I'm going to have withdrawal from this when I get home. Both breakfast dishes were tasty, and the hashbrowns were cooked perfectly. Everything arrived fairly quickly, and we were served a wonderful side of real strawberry jam. Service was excellent, and there was a dedicated individual filling, coffee, cups, which absolutely warms my heart to see on a freezing Alaskan morning. I like the fireplace but it wasn't on this morning. Very pretty decor in here. This restaurant is open all three meals so they have a very big space here. $48 before tip

This place was only one on property that served breakfast, lunch, dinner. Hostess is pleasant. Servers very friendly and attentive. Super hyper vigilant with sanitation. Menu isn't too extensive. They do have some good cocktails. We got a margarita and blueberry concoction. Both tasty. Ordered cheese curds (very good), quesadillas with salmon that was good, and a salmon sandwich (just meh - dry). Would recommend geese curds and quesadillas for sure. This is a pricey place. Just know they are a property where most people come either before/after cruise. They know you don't have other options.
