The severs were nice, the service was slow (45 minutes for the pizza - served warm, not hot, line someone forgot, and quite a wait for the drinks before that). We ordered several pizza's, they were out of a common ingredient (salamini, if i recsll) that was on two of our pizzas, but only mentioned it would be missing on the one of them. The 3rd pizza was something, but not what we ordered. They were nice enough, remade the 3rd pizza and comp'd it for us. The pizzas tasted ok, just the overall experience left us wishing we had gone to a different location. First, let me start by saying my habenaro pizza and the Samoan pizza were excellent. I also had a couple of adult beverages to wash it down. Sad to say, we had entertainment during our visit, unfortunately. We arrived shortly after 5:30pm. We stood in the waiting area, waiting to be seated, but ended up seating ourselves 10 minutes later. During our time here, we watched 11 people walk out, 2 of which walked out after my friend seated them lol. After about 20 minutes we were acknowledged, we ordered adult beverages and opted to receive our beverages first while we decided which pizza we wanted. We ordered and waited approximately 1 hour for our pizzas. I wanted another adult beverage, but our waiter was so busy he didn't make it back over to us for 30 minutes. We watched him vigorously serve drinks at the counter for other customers and to-go orders. The woman making pizzas yelled to the back for help and an older gentleman in a button down shirt appeared, but he disappeared faster than he appeared. We did not see a single table bused during our entire visit. Our server and another gentleman wearing a beenie made more boxes. It would have been amazing to see the employees acknowledge people as they walked in. Had they had somewhere clean to seat them and at the very least offer them water and say, "the kitchen is backed up right now, but I'll be with you as soon as possible." What I know is, people are more understanding if they have been acknowledged and seated. Lynn our server was very friendly and honestly I'm sad for him and the dumpster fire he was trying to handle practically himself! I expected the combo to be so loaded w sauce, cheese and toppings that they're falling off the slice as you pull that bad boy out of the round. Not so here at the Broadway location. After being a regular with Flying Pie for 20+ years, I hate to write a bad about them. However, the Broadway location should be avoided at all costs. More than once my kids and I have experienced really rude behavior from the staff when ordering delivery and even when we have gone to dine-in. Several times going in we have waited to be greeted and seated with a "whadda you want" attitude. The last time we turned around and left when no one came over to ask us to wait - we were just left standing there with staff walking past us. Tonight, after ordering a pizza for delivery, and saying we would be okay with a 90 minute wait for delivery, we tried to call back because we realized no one had taken a payment from us. We tried to call back about 12 times (not kidding here) and they just decide not to answer the phone. Not knowing if we had dinner coming or not, we had to call two other locations to ask them to call Broadway to ask them to pick up yheir damn phone. The Fairview manager was very helpful and contacted them. They never called me. When I called a last time, the manager of the store answered, and decided mostly to talk over me and try to gaslight me about what happened. When I pointed out her distortions, she would simply talk right over me, claiming we never ordered delivery despite being given a delivery time. The manager - if you can call her that - was unbelievable. Can't say I will not ever go to Flying Pie again, but you can bet I will never go to the Broadway location. I have had to many bad experiences with the s**t show they are running, and with unhinged management insulting a loyal customer. read more

Flying Pie may not be the best pizza in Boise (there are a lot of pizza spots here), but sometimes it does hit the spot just right. Flying Pie in the summer, after floating the Boise River, when they offer their famous habanero pizza is when it hits just right. This Flying Pie is right on Broadway, and the outdoor seating area is right up on the busy street. Not the most ideal patio situation, but their seating is still better than dining inside- and the view of the sunset was beautiful (even if that view also included the McDonald's across the street). The habanero pizza has just the right amount of burn that gets you hooked and before you know it- half a pizza is gone. It is seasonal, so when the marquee sign says it's habanero pizza time- it's go time! Create your own pizzas start at $10 for 10" and $17 for 14". For the 14" pizza, each topping is $2 which can add up. Here's my custom pie creation: -sourdough crust (a must!! if you get any of their other pizzas, order it with sourdough) -pesto sauce -pepperoni -mushroom - sun-dried tomatoes - fresh basil 2-3 people can split their large 14" pizza. In my opinion, you can get bigger and better pizzas for the price. Would I go out of my way or recommend this spot? Not necessarily. But am I mad when someone else wants to hit Flying Pie up? Only one front area worker at 6pm on a summer weeknight smacks of a staffing issue. This seems to be a pervasive issue and happens more than at the Broadway location lately. Another August, even during covid, so time for habanero pizza. Not the macho burn your mouth level, but just a really nice spicy pizza. We tend to be summer flying pie people, because, other than the habanero pizza, which they seem to look at as a challenge, they have very few spicy offerings. Seems odd, given the habanero challenge bit. So, overall, we tend to order from them 2-3 times a year, otherwise we leave them alone. That said, I've dropped them a star - because, well maybe it's covid, but their service seems less robust, and more lackadaisical. I am suffering a bit as I write this review lol We stopped at Flying Pie this evening on our way home because we saw the sign out front advertising their habanero pizza. Now keep in mind, I can take spice. I usually order level 5 for Indian food, or the Blazin' wings at BWW. I'm usually pretty good when it comes to things like this. My God... this pizza... it was off the charts. Nothing worked to calm the spice. I've been burning for 20 minutes now with no end in sight. I'm sweating, crying, and constantly blowing my nose. I only ordered a 2... I should've known something was off when I opened the box and got punched in the face by the spice. There were a lot of habaneros on the pizza, I just figured that's the 2 I ordered. It may have been but wow. It's a lot. The flavor is fantastic, and the crust is great, but oh my God the spice was insane. Please be careful if you're going to order the habanero pizza before the summer is up. We've always loved Flying Pie and it has been our top go to restaurant for pizza, but we felt pretty blindsided today. First when we went in it took over five minutes just for us to be acknowledged and sat down. We ordered the Triple Pie Pizza, which admittedly had japaleños and spicy sausage (but that's nothing that we haven't gotten at flying pie before), so we felt confident about our choice. When we got the pizza it was practically inedible it was so spicy. I couldn't even finish a full slice and my partner only ate three slices. Online there's a solid warning about how spicy they make this pizza, but the in person menu only says "spice and everything nice" with a description of what is on it. Would have been nice if the menu warned us, or if the waitress gave us a heads up about how spicy it is. Like I said, we have had jalapeño and spicy sausage pizzas here before, and routinely order spicy food at other places, but nothing compared to this...would definitely hesitate to come back in the future with the bad service and getting charged full price for a pizza we couldn't even finish. read more
