Wow! The interior of this place is definitely fish overload LOL. Every inch of wall space has something relating to fish or a framed catch with someone's signature on it. Lots of seating. You pay first then find a seat to sit. We ordered their 1 pound of crawfish and some kind of platter that had crocodile and frog legs, and a crawfish jambalaya. The 1lb of crawfish came with some kind of seasoning and overall, I wish it had more flavor. I ended up dipping it in tartar sauce and that was that. The crawfish, however, was super fresh and easy to peel. My husband enjoyed his platter. We'll probably be back to try some more stuff. Lunch gets super busy and kinda hard to find parking since it's a bit limited. I would suggest getting there a bit before peak so you can get parking and seating. read more

FOOD: Honestly my husband and I prepare seafood so much better. We are very disappointed to say the least. The calamari is heavily battered in cornmeal, seasoned in Cajun and way over cooked. Same for my husband's catfish and shrimp. The catfish is flat not meaty and plump. The fries were good though. My cado was awful! Way too much sauce. My new favorite place. I am glad they let Dickeys go after this place arrived. I enjoyed the entire meal which was rainbow trout speedy flavor and it's two fillets, corn on cob with a huge dish of melted butter, and grilled squash and zucchini which is my favorite veggie. I kind of wish they had a baked or sweet potato option but it's fine. The key lime pie looked really good. My only complaint, and I know I should get over it but it irritates me. The owners had a contest in early 2000"s to help name "one" of their restaurants knowing that they were going to steal all these names for their current restaurants so all those places such as this one, Tricky Fish etc. are names of people who entered them in that contest that also should have won. This place was really good, and I'll definitely come back as prices were decent. I ordered the 4 shrimp/1 catfish plate that came with fries and. 2 hush puppies. I wish the hush puppies were bigger because they were good but done in one small bite. The catfish wasn't overly salty and had flavor. The shrimp was really good as well. The fries were just basic, so I have nothing to review on them. You order at the front, and then you pick up the food when your buzzer goes off. I'll come back when I'm in the area. I had a hankering for fries shrimp so I ordered that with pickled green tomatoes instead of the standard fries. Nice family friendly casual restaurant. Busy on a Saturday night with an almost full parking lot. The line moved fast and the coaster lit up fast to let us know that food was ready for us to pick up the tray at the counter. The crunchy fish tacos were different than what we are used to but tasty and stayed crunchy under the coleslaw and pico de gallo toppings. The shrimp platter ranged from average to large-sized shrimp. The fries were hot and crispy and not greasy The decor is lots of fisherman photos on the wall with their big catches and a fun wall of Billy Bass plaques by the bathrooms, donated by patrons in exchange for a catfish platter. It was nice to see those plaques recycled and appreciated as an impressive collection. For as busy as it was, the restaurant was quiet enough for dinner conversation with plenty of booths and tables. I absolutely love that fish camp style restaurants are trending again! It brings on a lot of nostalgia for me from childhood. We took our daughter after her Christmas party at church and there were smiles all around! Our food was piping hot and delicious. I thoroughly enjoyed my bowl of gumbo. My husband ordered the grilled redfish that was served with grilled squash, beans and rice. It was very fresh and clean tasting. The service here is tremendous and the staff are over the top friendly. The restaurant has the typical decor of pictures of fisherman showing off their catches all over the wall. I had the opportunity to eat here for the first time on Sunday with friends, and the food was absolutely fantastic. Rico, the manager, welcomed us with open arms and ensured that all of our food came out exactly the way that we ordered it. So this time, the meal was outstanding, which has been the case for most of my meals at the Plano location. My grilled salmon was cooked to perfection. My wife had the 6 fried oysters, which were so good she can't stop talking about them. This visit, the cole slaw had a bit more vinegar-y taste, which we liked very much. My wife and I were devastated when Fish Mongers in Plano closed. We went there for 30 years, mainly to have fried catfish. Our neighbor told us this year that they go to the Flying Fish in Plano, so we tried it....we've been "hooked" ever since. Today we went for lunch at 11:30 (probably our 10th time this year). They've never disappointed us. We go at the beginning of the month when the Grub Club coupon comes in. The fried catfish is excellent. Comes with a decent amount of fries. Some reviews I've read here show a dark, overly fried fish.....I'd send that back too. However, in 10 visits, we've never had a bad meal.....catfish is lightly fried in cornmeal and the fries.....well, they're just fries. I tried the gumbo once and it was decent, but nothing to knock your socks off. If you want good fried catfish without driving to Middendorf's in Slidell, Louisiana then try the Flying Fish. read more

Been here many times before and never had a problem. However, I was there mid afternoon on Sunday, only about a third capacity, so not particularly busy. I had a coupon, I ordered my entrees and the employee pointed out (with an obnoxiously over-zealous glee) that I was required to order two drinks as well. No problem. I ordered two drinks, paid for my order, quickly to realize it wasn't adding up. Looking at my receipt, sure enough, he had charged me for 3 ice teas and a coke. I approached the counter and was quickly intercepted by a nice young lady who was very apologetic about the over charge while the General Manager (who initially took my order ) denied his wrong doing tried to blame it on the register. When my order was ready, I was standing at the counter watching the GM bagging it up and noticed there were no fries in the order, which were not special. Standard order. Comes with fries. Every time. He had opened the container, saw the order and placed it directly into the bag. I asked,"and where are my fries?" He instantly looked around with confusion and said, "Oh! You wanted fries?" I replied, "yes, I want fries. It says here on the menu that it comes with fries. Why wouldn't I want my fries?" If this had been a new employee or someone still in training, I wouldn't have thought much about it but, this was the General Manager. I could have even chalked it up to simple mistakes. However, his defensive behavior and his pretend surprised confusion certainly seemed a little personal by the end of the transaction, like he really just wanted to screw me. Being a veteran of the hospitality industry myself, I'm all too familiar with certain personality types that feel it is beneath them to work the counter and display attitude about it.
