I love going to get flowers at Flowers by May in Lonsdale Quay. May always has a great selection, makes beautiful arrangements and her prices are pretty reasonable. Since I have been working on the North Shore for the past 9 months I seem to go there quite often to either buy flowers for others or a nice little bouquet for my desk at work. Who says a girl can't buy her own flowers. May is so friendly and gives you advise as to how to maintain your flowers so that they will live longer. The cutest May' smile is stunning. She is always glowing with so much love to give out to every person who walks to her door ( they dot have a physical door FYI). She is one of the most important reason that when I'm in the area i make sure i get some fresh flowers for home and can chat with her a bit. And believe me you when i say this, her prices are the most affordable in north shore for fresh flowers and you are supporting a small business. All my smaller plants bought from her for kitchen decor last me much longer than any other places too. Try her place you will love your purchases. read more

This was the best place to get flowers; however, with the Lonsdale Quay doing renovations, the business is not there anymore. May is the best. Her bouquets and arrangements are always fresh and gorgeous! What really keeps me coming back is her advice and recommendations - warm water for my gerberas? Change the water daily? Cut UP the stem, not diagonal for tougher stems?! May and her associate are always so friendly and helpful, and the great prices don't hurt either. Flowers by May is located in the Lonsdale Quay market. The selection is excellent, the prices are great, and May is an absolute doll to deal with. There are lovely flowering plants and premade arrangements but don't let that stop you from requesting a special bouquet...just tell May or Karen what the occasion is and your preferred color scheme, and they'll put something beautiful and appropriate together for you. For example, I wanted to send a get well arrangement to a friend who was in the hospital and May recommended something small because of the limited space in hospitals, bright and cheerful flowers for obvious reasons, and flowers with little or very low fragrance because hospitals have scent policies and smelly flowers aren't permitted...makes sense but I really wouldn't have thought of all this on my own! May and Karen will tell you how to care for your plant or cut flowers (water, cutting, temperature, etc). If it'll be a few hours before you can get your bouquet into a vase, let them know and they'll include a makeshift cellophane "vase" to keep the ends from drying out. I've always been happy with the flowers and service at May's, and am happy to support this local, family-owned business. read more

I decided to buy my wedding flowers from Flowers by May and it was less than a month before my wedding so it was pretty last minute! Karen was very accommodating to me and my mom, and did such nice work. She got exactly what I wanted for my 6 bridesmaid bouquets, 13 or so boutennieres, 6 corsages, and my very own bridal bouquet and tossing bouquet. I am a frequent shopper at Margitta's flowers also in the quay but she has a rule against carrying dyed flowers, but I really needed some blue orchids to incorperate into a baby boy arrangement. I was very disappointed when she was rude about me bringing in a competetors bouquet into her store. I explained that I had been her loyal customer for years and the older woman (May the owner I think) kept whispering under her breath as she grumpily helped me.... I understand the resentment I suppose but loyalty is loyalty and I thought she would have been at least grateful for my business.....Don't think I'd go back . read more

I give this place top marks for their selection, and it is an extensive selection of gorgeous orchids. Pink ones, green ones, purple ones, white ones...you get the idea...all of them stunning and surprisingly reasonably priced. and, if you were looking for anything else in the floral department, this place will make you a lovely bouquet, too. I had a few friends recommend I go to Flowers by May to get some arrangements made for a party we had in our backyard. I couldn't be happier with how everything went. We were offered a very reasonable price, and the arrangements turned out even better than I had expected. Lots of people made comments about them at the party. I particularly loved May's "just get it done" attitude. I walked in there, got a solid quote and idea of what the arrangements would look like....no problem. We were away when I got a message saying that a shipment of flowers didn't come in as expected, but that they would supplement with something similar and to call back if I had any issues. I knew I didn't have to worry, and left it up to her and I'm glad I did. She simply got the job done...no fuss, and ended up supplementing with a more expensive flower at no charge. It was a breath of fresh air while planning the party we held, because I kept getting calls from suppliers saying that this wasn't going to work out or that wasn't actually going to happen....May just did it, and did it well. I've lived in Alberta the last 8 years and frequently phoned her long distance to have flowers sent to people still living there. I was referred to Flowers by May by a coworker for my wedding flowers and I was thoroughly impressed, start to finish! Karen helped me, with lots of ideas and suggestions about what colours and types of flowers would look best with what I liked. The prices were absolutely the best of anywhere I went. On my wedding day I was impressed again. The flowers were absolutely gorgeous, there was an extra bout included for the groom, and all the bouts and corsages were packed in rose petals which we used to decorate. I hung my bouquet to dry after the wedding and the roses has been so fresh that they took a full two weeks to dry. I would highly recommend Flowers by May! read more

We purchased flowers at another location earlier in the day and our dog got at them unfortunately making a mess in the car. We hadn't been to Flowers by May before and were very pressed for time to make a family dinner, and now no flowers? We popped in and she took great care of us and was very quick.
