There was an occasion where he had to return a couple of days later after the fix because there was still an issue but he didn't charge us for that visit. So, when I needed new hot and cold water inlet valves installed before the delivery crew would install my new washer, I called Jafco and made an appointment. The basic fee for a service call was quoted as $180. The Jafco plumber, Leif Storkersen, came as scheduled, looked at the job, and wrote up an estimate. I was stunned to see the cost: $691.38! When I expressed my astonishment and dismay, he explained that they had a minimum job cost, so the price was the total of their minimum job cost plus the two valves, plus tax. I accepted this outrageous bid because I figured that I was on the hook for the service call and because of the time pressure--the washer delivery was scheduled for the next day. Yes, Jafco successfully installed excellent new spigot valves, but I doubt very many plumbers in Seattle would charge almost $700 for barely a half hour of work and a few dollars in parts.
