This is serious business the handling of firearms. However the gentleman allow everyone to get acquainted, share a story and the purpose for taking the training. That said the gentleman made learning fun. They did not dismiss any question as unimportant all the while encouraging us learn from them. This class was the short version and the instructor was Dave, I'm pretty sure. I think that it was informative and he was funny. I've taken a CCW previously and this one was much more interesting and enjoyable. During this course you will be provided a firearm, if you don't have one. Ear and eye protection is also provided if you don't bring it. The fee was $65 per person and you can bring your own ammunition or pay for it there. Each attendee has to bring out their firearm, load it and shoot 25 rounds five at a time, proficiently. The instructor reminds you to not shoot if you can exit a situation and to also remember any time you would or could shoot to remember all of the things behind or in the vicinity. Safety is paramount and you will not pass the course if you cannot pass the shooting portion. There is no written test. read more

I have taken multiple training classes with FFT and I have never been disappointed with any of the training or trainers at FFT. Will and Megan have been great facilitators and hosts. My recent training was on the MRDS with Josh at Gun World (good range). Josh is nice guy and knows his stuff. I learned a lot of new things about the MRD. I enjoyed the training, I just wished that we had spent more time on the range so that we could have practiced more and help jump start those critical muscle memories. Today I took the Handgun Info course for safety. Dave Lawson was a great instructor! He was personable, funny and most important very knowledgeable about guns, use and safety. His instruction was clear, concise and to the point. Being a first timer taking a course I was nervous to shoot. With his instruction and one-on-one direction he provided to everyone in the class it took no time to become more comfortable with multiple guns and my response to them using them. Completed the basic firearms training with Dave Larson. It's a 4-5 hour class including about 1 hour of practice shooting with 5 different caliber handguns. Guns were provided for us to use (as well as eye/ear protection if you don't have your own. Dave was very informative and made the class quite enjoyable....he's pretty entertaining! He went over the different calibers of ammunition, gun types, proper stance and positioning, and gun safety. Everything was explained clearly and he welcomed any questions our class had. He patiently answered any questions we had and was genuinely concerned about our understanding safety protocols and the responsibility of owning a gun. After the class presentation, he worked with us at the range, pointing out best practices and correcting any problems we might have had. All in all, I'd highly recommend FFT and particularly Dave. read more

By the end of the day-long Advanced Defensive Handgun Level One, I had learned more from Jason and Stevan than I have learned from other courses and years of shooting experience. Jason and Stevan were very patient and very good at teaching an old dog new tricks. They had to pour out the old stuff I thought I knew and fill me up with the new stuff I didn't. Got your CCW? Got your EDC? Don't walk, run to sign up for this course. You don't know what you don't know until you don't know it. Jason, Stevan and Florida Firearms Training will change all that. The instructor Dave Larson was extremely disrespectful to myself and my boss. My employer is an Attorney that practiced criminal law and now family law. He has been practicing law for over 40 years. Dave had no knowledge of the Fla. Statutes and contradicted the information provided in the pamphlet. He was unprofessional, used profanity and mocked myself and my employer. I am a paralegal and I am also well informed on the Fla. Statutes that were covered in the class. Furthermore, prior to the class I researched the Statutes pertaining to carrying a concealed weapon in preparation for the course. I fear that everyone in the class left with the incorrect information and will be in jeopardy due to the fact that he insisted, irregardless of what the Statutes state, that force must equal force. Deadly force and when to use it is clearly outlined in the provided pamphlet and Dave stated that in the event of a home invasion a gun can only be fired if the person invading your home is carrying a weapon. This is clearly defined as a forcible felony and is outlined in Fla. Statute 776. He also advised that if a woman is attacked and there is intent of of sexual battery, a gun cannot be used unless the perpetrator is brandishing a firearm. I am contacting the necessary organizations in an attempt to address the seriousness of this situation. People attend these classes to be properly informed of their legal rights and right to protect themselves in accordance with the law. These same individuals may be put in a situation where that they follow the instructors inaccurate information which could lead to great bodily harm or death. I am fortunate to be knowledgeable enough to identify the deficiencies of the provided legal information and know my legal rights pertaining to carrying a concealed weapon and when deadly force can or cannot be justified in a Court of Law. Let's start off with I have no basis for comparison for gun instruction. HOWEVER, I can tell you as someone who has only been to the range twice before and had ZERO PRIOR INSTRUCTION other than please don't shoot yourself or anyone else... Most important, the instructors were approachable. There was no talking down to anyone. Nothing but respect throughout the entire course, even when we got onto the range. My wife and I took the class last week. We have already been back to the range this week to reinforce what we have learned and plan on several more weeks of range sessions to reinforce what we have learned. Also, just the week prior, I went to the range with a friend (one of my two prior experiences). I thought I was aiming. After just one class, I feel I have SIGNIFICANTLY MORE control over where I am firing and the holes in the target prove it. Even my experienced friend was impressed. All because I was taught the proper basics under expert guidance. Will and Dave were our instructors. They were great. Their demeanor was perfect for the topic, especially with beginners. Address known fears and anxieties up front, lay it out when it is important stuff littered with some by the way good to know tid bits. In the end, a service provider is often judged on the amount of return business. I can promise you, we will be signing up for a private session, possibly the picking a handgun class and most definitely the Advanced Concealed Carry course when the time comes that we feel we are ready to begin exercising our right to actually carry outside the house and the range. I took the Introduction to Firearms with Josh and Rizzo and the class was very well structured and informative. They went over all the basics of how to hold a pistol to hand positioning and grip before ever getting on the range. We then spent about an hour and a half on the range firing 75 rounds. Josh and Rizzo were there showing us what to do and how to do it and helping everyone out. I would definitely recommend this class to anyone who is a novice with or never fired a pistol before. It certainly reinforced what I learned years ago and made me more comfortable in obtaining my concealed carry permit and owning a pistol responsibly. read more

Took Intro to handgun training and a 1:1 handgun selection class. The instructors for both were great! They provided all the important information needed to carry and use a handgun. For both classes we were in the classroom first then went into the range. The instructors were patient & made sure everyone was comfortable and understood how to load, disarm & fire the gun. I recently took a one day Carbine and Pistol class with Will Farrugia at the Okeechobee Range and was more than pleased with the attention to detail, professionalism and fun of the class. In a very good student teacher ratio (5:1) 5 students some with prior military experience and varying degrees of expertise all improved their weapons handling, skills and tactics for fighting with the main battle weapon (The Carbine) and use of the pistol with the Carbine. Alright, fellow lady here, I paid $150 for the Ladies Only Hangun course, only to find that theyre INSANELY overcharging. Three of us took Intro to Handguns with Mike yesterday and he was great. The class qualifies those who finish for the CWP, but includes much more. We highly recommend Florida Firearms Training. We were trying to get into a class the same evening. Its a small company covering many areas so getting through on the phone was hard. I finally called Gun World and they checked the roster. We arrived, paid, and took the class. Otherwise, you can sign up on their website or in store for classes more than 2 days out. The class included ex-Army, people who grew up with guns, and people who had never shot a gun. Mike was easy going in the class, using humor and knowledge to make what could be scary or boring for some interesting. The simple science behind the guns and ammo, and their differences was much more than in other CWP classes I've read and heard about. The class also included range time and training with pointing and shoot for defense, and aiming on the range, how to hold the different types of weapons, safety, etc. We shot a large and small revolver, small 38s, and several 9 mm including a requested Beretta 92. One attendee brought his 40 caliber. In addition to the class cost, Gun World sells a bag-o-ammo to use with the various guns. We fired over 100 rounds. The bag has a coupon for $10 off range time so save it. There is a reason they have such a high rating on Yelp and all three of us agree. read more

I know this sounds like an advertisement. It isn't. I am a 50 yo woman who took their 2-day Room Clearing course. IMO, if you own a firearm you owe it to yourself and your loved ones to invest in training with the best. Will Farrugia and his senior instructors are exceptional teachers with impeccable credentials. They will make certain to improve your knowledge and skills without intimidating or belittling. I was introduced to new tactics that proved superior to techniques I was previously taught. Just got out of a 4 hour advanced concealed carry course run by Josh, ex-military police, with other FFT instructors assisting. These guys are the real deal. If you think you can get your CWP, carry and be prepared for whatever comes at you without this type of training, think again. For someone like me, having spent 20 years in Montana hunting and around guns, it was a real eye opener. What you learn from YouTube regarding drawing from a holster in a self defense situation is for the most part, just wrong. Josh taught us real-world techniques and I was forced to go back to the drawing board. The range shooting experience was practiced enough times over 90 minutes to allow me to start learning muscle memory and exposed the mistakes I had been making during dry-fire practice. Toke advantage of a hunting course with Will and his gang of instructors. Spent a day at OSS learning about the hogs we where to hunt. We also spend some time sighting in our rifles and performing some drills for quick reaction shooting. Will spent the extra time helping sight in my rifle, as well as other instructors at the OSS center helped the others sight in their weapons. We all tested our marksmanship in different locations with different scenarios to give up some confidence for the hunt the following day. As for the actual hunt! FANTASTIC TIME with Will and Mike out in the fields. We where the test group for a new facility and it was such a good time with the guide and his hunting dogs that we are returning soon. The hunt was very successful and so much more than I expected, these guys totally exceeded my expectation on what a hog hunt would be. I am so please and would recommend FFT and OSS to anyone that wants to learn to hunt. Just as good as it gets with these guys !! read more

Instead of a comfortable and welcoming experience to simply ensure we knew how to fire the weapon, we were treated to an unexpectedly evaluative process in an aggressively high-pressure environment and pressed to perform beyond what anyone else I have spoken with was required to from other institutions.The materials portion of the course was covered haphazardly, almost as an afterthought and there were several inconsistencies between the information the instructor was saying and what the material presented. In addition, he was unprofessional throughout the course, using gratuitous foul language and spending the time which I paid for to espouse his unfounded and irrelevant political views. After expressing my dissatisfaction with class, two weeks went by before I was contacted by a manager.. only to be treated with self-righteous condescension again over the phone.
