Took the Intro to Handguns course with Mike and it was great! I am an experienced shooter (20+ years experience and a one time instructor myself) that had not taken a formal class in almost a decade and decided to go back to basics and take this course. I was pleasantly surprised. There are a lot of people out there that claim to be firearms instructors but their curriculum entails three hours of classroom time and maybe 10 minutes on the range where you shoot maybe ten rounds or, scary enough, just a singe round into a barrel of sand and give you a certificate that claims you are proficient. Mike and the FFT however give you almost the same amount of time on the range as you have in the classroom. Mike was an entertaining instructor that knew his stuff and actually took the time to teach his students how to handle, reload and actually shoot a firearm with a decent level of proficiency. The class had their own separate shooting range away from the rental lanes which is, I think, the best thing in the world. With other instructors, you are at a public range with other people not attending the class all around you which is distracting as hell when you are actually trying to learn. Half the time, you cannot even hear what the instructor is telling you since you are surrounded by 15+ people shooting, yelling to one another and taking selfies with the amazing gun they just rented. (Just so you know, GunWorld does not allow such behavior in their public range as well so once you take a class and want to practice, Gunworld of South Florida is my first choice of SAFE gun ranges that you really don't have to worry about people inadvertently pointing a loaded gun in your direction.) I will keep taking more and more classes with Florida Firearms Training because it is guaranteed money well spent!! read more

I can't say enough about the Advanced Conceal Carry class. The dynamic Duo of Josh and Mike taught my class with a perfectly blended amount humor, sarcasm and detailed knowledge of hard and soft tactics of self defense w a handgun. As an instructor/Trainer myself (Info tech) it is easy to teach a class when you are truly an expert in your field and that was obvious here with these instructors. Most of the training points came directly from real life experiences in the field for these guys. I have always had a healthy respect for guns and gun safety. Having been around guns since hunting from age 14 I thought I was knowledgeable. This class taught me so many things I did not know and I was really surprised how much I learned. You can't put a value on the hands on training you get with these instructors on the range. It will give you a real feel for what an ACTUAL assault scenario may look like and how YOU would react in a high pressure self defense situation. I now feel a 100 percent more confident to conceal carry if I need to. I intend to take the 8 hr Advanced Defensive Handgun class so I can expand my skill set in order to protect myself and my family if I am forced to. Roger V. read more

This past weekend my husband, sister and I completed the Intro course on gun familiarization and safety class held at Gun World of So. FL. Deerfield Beach and we had a very good experience . As a female with very little experience with guns and shooting I had some anxiety. However, the Instructor Michael and his partner Jason were so knowledgeable and experienced I felt confident I made the right decision in attending. These guys explained the handling of several types of guns, safety and more. On the gun range they were close by watching our every move and assisted us whenever we needed the help. I never felt intimated by them but very confident in their skill level on their handling and use of guns. We had a mixed class of males and females who had very little experience in handling guns but we gave our supporter to one another. I would highly recommend this course In order to bring up your confidence level if you are a new gun owner. read more

I just completed the 2 day Long Range Rifle Immersion Level One training class by Florida Firearms Training, and couldn't be happier! Will and Josh were both outstanding instructors, the course program was well planned and executed, and their focus on safety and their student's training was always top priority. The pace of the course was perfect, there were ample opportunities for the students to ask questions, and both instructors were patient when asked to repeat a topic or help present the info in a different manner to help with understanding. While I consider myself a competent marksman with a rifle, the amount of new information and skill improvement I gained from the class was amazing. Whether you're a newbie gun owner or an experienced shooter the Palm Beach firearm center is a great place to go. I consider myself an intermediate shooter licensed from New Jersey. I had to take the concealed weapons class for my Florida carry license but decided to also take the introduction to handguns to get familiar with Florida law. I've taken many courses in the past and I can tell you from experience Dave Larson was one of the most knowledgeable instructors to ever present. And he's very humorous so believe me you'll enjoy your time with him. The range is great, they have many lanes. The store is well equipped and it's location is very convenient. The instructors are warm and welcoming of people with all skill levels, and they foster an atmosphere of open, positive learning while ensuring that safety is paramount. I particularly appreciate that they not only focus on technical skills, but also promote critical decision-making skills in real life situations. I train regularly in other areas of self defense. It has been my experience that one of the best signs of quality instruction is the ability to show students ways to constantly learn, refine and improve skills no matter how many times you may have practiced in previously. Outstanding class taught by Mr. Dave L. (June 2020), who was able to impart a large amount of information in a professional, entertaining way that readily kept the class' attention. It takes a lot of teaching skill to successfully guide a group of people with minimal (or no) prior handgun experience from the classroom to the range, but Dave did it in 4 hours. Time seemed to fly by. Among other topics, Introduction to Handgun class immediately impacts one's ability to safely handle handguns (given paramount importance), and provides a setting to try multiple types of handguns. Myself and 3 girlfriends signed up for a private beginner concealed weapons class with David. We were all a bit nervous but the nerves quickly went away as soon as we met Dave. His calm demeanor and professional approach made us all feel good about the night. Dave was so patient and knowledgeable. We had very few questions as he was so thorough. Now onto the range we all went and the nerves started up again. Dave calm and patient helped us one by one until we each felt comfortable with the fire arms we were using. The 4 hour class went by so fast we wanted to stay longer. We will all be back for a more advanced class with Dave in the near future. read more

I've spent 4 years with the 75th Ranger Regiment and 4 years as a Private Security Contractor. During that time I have gained extensive knowledge with the carbine but not so much with the pistol. As a Security Contractor, pistol skills are a must. We can not carry our Carbines everywhere so in some cases the pistol is all we have. I took 2 private lessons with Will and I have to say that I am 110% confident with my ability with the pistol where as before I was only 50/50. Any one with experience will tell you that being 110% confident in your abilities is a part of winning a fight for your life. Thank you Will for getting my skills up to speed! read more

Took the Pistol Immersion Level 1 course this Labor Day weekend and couldn't have had a greater time. I definitely learned a lot. I thought with my military and Law enforcement 15yrs., plus experience was enough to get me through any situation I might find myself in and I was wrong. I was able to relearn and sharpen my skills, learned new techniques in order to create new muscle memory. I was amazed of all the things that Steve, Brad, Jason and best of all Will taught me. These are all highly professional and positive instructors, backed up by Megan on the Admin side, who i am sure can also hold her own in a gunfight. Can't wait for Level 2. read more

Wanted to say how productive my weekend was with Will, Megan and their cadre at the weekend Bug Out Course. This was a thoroughly researched and expertly delivered course. Combining practical field craft with a solid dose of ethics and judgmental situational experiences was really the gem in the class. Special thanks to Jason and Peter, a former infantry Marine and an Army Sniper respectively; for their patient demeanor. These guys know their stuff and don't have to prove anything to anyone....so they don't try to. They teach and enjoy teaching and it shows. I plan to take this training recurrently. My husband and I took the training class last night and we feel a lot better about using a weapon now. The class was very informative and the instructors were wonderful. We had a fun time but I learned more than I thought I would. DaveLarson is an awesome instructor and very funny but he is very knowledgable and because of his guidance we plan on taking other courses so that we feel better about handling a firearm responsibly. These courses and instructors are great. My wife and I completed our basic CC course together and then signed up for individual one-on-one sessions with an FFT instructor to explore various pistol options in our effort to select one we want to use for everyday carry. Nick was our instructor for both the basic course and the one-on-one sessions. He is terrific - very knowledgeable, listened carefully to our perspectives and needs before making recommendations, and very patient. Will is a fantastic instructor. His attention to details and his ability to convey the subject matter were outstanding. The class was enjoyable and he made us feel at ease from the beginning. Will really took his time with us and made sure that we got comfortable with the weapon, and knew how to use it. I took the Intro to Handgun course with Jarrett and had an incredible experience. It was the first time I'd ever held a gun let alone shoot one and Jarrett made it easy and fun to learn and shoot. A lot of really good information regarding basic handgun safety and handling as well as basic anatomy of a pistol. He was very informative about the stats of self defense related incidents and what would most likely be the best kind of firearm would be for self defense. I have to say that my 4 hour Introduction to Handguns class experience ranks in the top 5 great experiences of my life so far! The 4 hour class was informative, interesting, fun, hands-on, educational and our instructor David (Dave) interspersed real life stories and situations which helped us to understand the material. The class was very, very informative and the instructors were great. I am a newbie and never once was I made to feel ignorant. In fact, they were very great about making sure I understood everything. We also got to try different caliber handguns at the range and see how we did/figure out what was most comfortable. I had a really great time and would highly, highly recommend taking courses with them. Oh-and you get your required certification and instructions for your concealed carry permit at the end. read more
