However, BTT was completely different - I have never faced anyone who wants to simply "dominate" me - rather, regardless of their rank and experience in BJJ, everyone has the mindset of 'we're all here to learn'! Super friendly, humble and genuine people who truly care about the art as well as their community. Most importantly, Prof Joao Amaral is very knowledgeable and compassionate teacher! He always makes you feel that he cares for all of his students - from a 10 year old girl to an much older student! BTT recently opened the new mats - not to mention their workout equipments including power rack, pull up bar, kettle bells, and other functional workout tools. Not only the BTT offers amazing lessons in BJJ, but offers Muay Thai/kick boxing classes under the instruction of Matt, who is an amazing teacher. Now I am a big guy, about 250#. The school is extremely diverse with men and women, with a primary focus on finding your strengths and strengthening your weaknesses. Everyone you learn alongside and train with will stop WHATEVER they're doing to help you, and it's a truly wonderful reminder of how jiu jitsu is supposed to be. The Curriculum: Without a shadow of a doubt, top level instructions and learning style from beginner to advanced practitioners. Both instructors are world champions in both Gi and NoGi jiu jitsu, with no question as to their skill level and credentials on being able to teach ANYONE. Moreover: Both Ana and Luanna care. They absolutely care with all of their heart. For reference, I am an out of towner who frequents Southern Florida for work quite often. The first time I ever met these two, it felt as if I hadn't seen two best friends for a couple of years and we were so happy to see one another again. I can see their interactions with their members are so personalized and they REMEMBER their members. No one is a number at Aviv. Everyone is a brother or sister there, and it is felt immediately. The instruction at Aviv is top notch, and is PERFECTLY portioned to be digested and retained. It is not simply: "Here is the technique of the day, drill it a bunch and let's live roll." No, there is a plan and method to the madness. Not only will you learn a certain "avenue" let's say of a movement pattern, but it will be explained broadly with high percentage situations that you will find yourself in, and teach you the real art of jiu jitsu: to use mechanical advantage and technique to overcome a bigger or stronger opponent. There is time made for personalized questions, but it's married beautifully to not being tangential and focus kept on the "avenue" we are learning that day. I will drop into Aviv about 2-3x out of the week I am in town, and I feel as if I get 2-3x seminars in jiu jitsu during that time. I don't know how more people are not learning from these amazing women to transform their game. Summary: Whether you're brand new and have always wanted to try jiu jitsu, or you've been a IBJJF/ADCC competitor and are looking for a growth opportunity, Aviv is the place for you. Every child needs a place to have fun and move around, and what's a better place to do that than at a karate studio? Not only has it been a lot of fun attending, but I have also been learning how to fight and protect myself. Now I am 15 years old and still enjoy going to karate like I have been for 10 years now. The karate school overall has a great atmosphere. It's located in a nice safe area where a lot of families would go. As soon as I walk into the studio, I am welcomed with a familiar citrus scent that clouds the air. Located against the wall is an abundance of kicking bags that the students use to fight with. We learn how to kick and punch the right way. The school is a vast space and very open. The vibrant purple carpet stands out against the yellow walls which makes the place seem more lively and fun. The instructors who work there are very nice and take care of the children. I just so happen to be an instructor there as well. I am always respectful to the parents and the children just like the other employees. Master Ron Tramontano and Linda Tramontano have been running their karate school for over 27 years. Since this is a karate studio everyone learns how to fight the proper way, not just flinging your arms around and running away. We are taught to use different approaches to get out of a fight, but if that doesn't work, then things may have to be taken to the next level. When we are taught to fight, we learn how to control ourselves. Not only do we learn how to fight, but we learn life lessons. A lot of children who come in for the first time usually have a disrespectful attitude or they are extremely shy. But after being taught by Master Tramontano they become a better person. I have seen children break out of their shell and some have had a huge change in personality. Even I am one of those people. This is a great place for any child to learn karate and I will definitely have my children attend here one day. I love West Boca Karate.

I could not have asked for a better group of trainers and gym goers as well. Everyone is really nice, friendly and encouraging. And I always get a good workout here. You can book classes through their app, which is really easy to download and use. Unlike other places (looking at you OrangeTheory), you get some grace with canceling if necessary. Of course, they don't encourage cancellations but they do offer some grace if it happens so you can keep the sessions you pay for. Also, you can text the trainers to let them know what's going on and they actually answer. Things to know: The music is great but it varies from trainer to trainer. Love hip hop? Take Stephanie's classes. Love Latin-inspired music? Damian is your dude. Prefer a rock/hip hop mix? Then Chris is your man. They are obsessive about cleanliness. This is one of the main reasons I feel comfortable coming here. They are really on the ball as far as cleanliness goes. That's a plus at this point. Each class is taught by a trainer who cares about you getting the best workout possible. Seriously. You don't have to worry about only one person being good while everyone else is mediocre. They all bring something unique and care immensely about their students. I could go on but really I have found a great way to workout and a new gym home! I read the reviews for IntensityX3 and decided to check it out since I always love a good kickboxing class. Since it was my first time there I had to take a 25 minute new members class with Ivy. There was one other newbie boxer in attendance and she went thru some of the punches and kicks she would be calling out in the 50 minute class that followed. While I've boxed before it was super helpful since there were a lot of different punches and kicks in the actual class. The 50 minute class was packed and clearly with many regulars. Ivy taught this as well and the first half of the class was kickboxing. She took us thru many high energy routines - it was fun and we broke a sweat! The second half of the class was all butt/legs. It was a great combo of cardio and strength and I left bummed that i was headed back to Chicago later that day since I wanted to go again. I"ll definitely be back next time I head home to South Florida! The studio itself isn't easy to find! They are located in the back of the Office Depot plaza, although the other side of Office Depot. Turn left before the Public Storage Building and look for the black awning. I had trouble, but called them and they stayed on the phone with me giving me solid directions. The only thing I didn't love was doing this workout barefoot, which they claim is better for your feet. I prefer to workout in shoes, especially when kicking backs and working with heavy weights. Perhaps it's just something I need to get used to, but everything else was solid!

1 Star -- Extremely Disappointed After 6 Years as YMCA Members…read more Unfortunately, after what happened today, we decided to cancel our YMCA membership and our children's swimming lessons. We have been YMCA members for six years. We have used this facility regularly, our children have taken swimming lessons here, and we have invested a lot of time and money into this membership. That is why today's experience was especially disappointing. I have already left a negative review about this YMCA, but today's situation honestly went beyond what I consider acceptable. This morning, I came to the YMCA for my workout. Around 11:00 AM, as I was leaving, I noticed an older woman in a white car trying to park next to my vehicle. There was no actual parking space available, and she was trying to squeeze into the area between the designated parking spaces. I didn't pay much attention at the time because I was in a hurry to pick up my daughter from daycare. After picking up my children, I returned to my car and discovered significant scratches on the plastic part of my vehicle. The damage was large enough that the paint had been completely scraped off. I immediately went back to the YMCA, hoping they could check their security cameras and possibly help identify the person responsible. Instead, I was told that they could not review the cameras themselves and that I needed to call the police. I was told that they would review the footage only if the police requested it. We called the police. An officer came and documented the incident. However, he did not even go inside the YMCA to review or request the camera footage. He simply explained that cameras of this type are often not clear enough to identify a license plate or a person's face. What I found especially frustrating is that there seemed to be no attempt to look for another way to identify the person. Even if the video quality was not good enough to clearly see the license plate or face, I suggested checking the approximate time of the incident and comparing it with the YMCA's membership check-in records. Members scan their membership when entering the facility. I had seen exactly where the woman went after parking, so it seemed reasonable to at least check whether someone matching the description entered the building around that time. Instead, I felt completely left on my own. I understand that the YMCA cannot be responsible for every incident that happens in its parking lot. I am not expecting the YMCA to pay for my car or to magically identify the driver. But after six years as a member, I expected basic cooperation, communication, and a genuine effort to help when something like this happened on YMCA property. The damage to my car was upsetting, but the lack of assistance and the way the situation was handled was even more disappointing. After six years, this was the final straw for us. We canceled our membership today and also canceled our children's swimming lessons. Very disappointed that after being loyal members for six years, this is how our relationship with the YMCA ends.
