5 Stars for beautifully crafted cocktails and a small, but fantastic food menu in an atmosphere…read morethat feels like your cool friends' living room. My favorite thing to enjoy at DBA is their Wednesday girl dinner special. It features a choice of drink (I get a gin martini, but there's a margherita, wine, and beer option), fries, and a caesar salad for $25. You can add fried chicken to the salad for an additional fee, and it's worth it for the lightly battered, tender chicken that they add. This Wednesday special is brilliant and absolutely delicious. The fries are perfect (get the honey mustard!), and the salad would be something I would order time and time again, even off the special. My friend got the double smashburger and the smell of the caramelized onions compelled me to ask for a bite. I'm willing to stray from my fries and salad to enjoy this burger again next time. I'm still thinking about it days later... For dessert, I enjoyed the chocolate olive oil cake (a nod to the beloved olive oil cake at their sister restaurant next door). Take a look at my photos to see this dish in all of its glory. Though it's small, we all shared in the rich dessert and left fully satisfied. Again- big fan of DBA and plan to hit them up much more often now that I've rediscovered their Wednesday special! Previous review: 5 Stars for boozy but balanced cocktails, a chill atmosphere, bites that stay on my mind for days, and staff that makes you feel like family. dba recently opened as a sister concept to The Strand nextdoor. It's owned by the same family and carries over a similarly casual-chic, unpretentious atmosphere with quality offerings that will make it a staple in your rotation. No, really, I've been there 3 times in 2 weeks... Where The Strand is an outstanding neighborhood restaurant which happens to also feature an interesting beverage program, dba is an outstanding little cocktail bar which happens to also feature an interesting bites menu. Both do everything they do really well. In terms of drinks, my go-to is the cigarette for breakfast- essentially their take on an old fashioned, but every drink I've ordered has been equally potent and balanced. The drinks have got nuance. I've also ordered a wet gin martini with blue cheese olives and that classic was done to perfection. But, if you aren't a drinker, don't fret- I went with a friend who is pregnant and they were able to concoct a fun mocktail for her as well. in terms of bites, you can't go wrong with the duck flatbread (I have been dreaming about it since!), the pan con tomate, or the cacio e pepe deviled eggs (same as on the menu next door). Next time I'm definitely trying the octopus salad! Finally, ambiance. This spot feels like you're sitting in a good friend's cozy living room. Assuming your good friend has impeccable taste and plenty of time for a curated thrift store haul. They've got records playing great tunes (you'll get some quick quiet moments as they change the vinyls throughout the night) and the lighting is dim. Again, it's unpretentious and is the kind of place you want to really settle into on a weekday night. Can't wait for my next visit!

This place is a special kind of hidden. I've passed it many times over the years but never knew it…read moreexisted. Upon entering, you notice it's quite cozy. There are about ten tables and the largest table only holds 10. The bar also holds about 12 total. This is an amazing place to wait for The Strand appointment but also a great place for a date night. The menu is not huge but that means everything on it is done well. We tried the burger, fries, and oysters. Every bite was eaten. Not even a crumb was left. Also, the Boilermaker is a good drink to have if you've never had one.

I went on a date last night at AC Sky Bar and was honestly really excited since it had been a while…read moresince my last visit. Let me start with parking I parked in the hotel garage and was surprised by the $25 flat fee . I don't remember it being that high before, but I didn't have much of a choice. On top of that, the kiosk for entering and exiting the garage was giving everyone trouble. It wouldn't read my card, and after what felt like 50 swipes and trying a second card (per the attendant's suggestion), it finally worked. Thankfully, I was able to park close to the elevators after all that. Once I got to the 18th floor, the experience definitely improved. I was greeted right away by the hostess, but my date had already texted me where he was seated. We had early reservations, so it wasn't crowded at all. The ambiance is still beautiful very "grown and sexy" although the weather was cloudy, so the view wasn't as stunning as it could've been. My date was a gentleman and pulled out my chair (love that!), and shortly after, our waitress Valerie came over to greet us. She was amazing the entire night. We already knew what we wanted, so we ordered pretty quickly. We both got the Sunset Margaritas, which were really good. For food, I had the AC Burger and my date had the steak sandwich, both cooked medium well everything came out great and tasted just as good. We ended up taking a couple tequila shots and ordered another round of drinks. Valerie stayed attentive the whole time, checking in on us and patiently answering all of my date's many questions without missing a beat. Overall, the vibe here is definitely more adult and upscale not really a kid-friendly environment in terms of atmosphere, but since it's in a hotel, families are still welcome. It's a great spot for date nights, group outings, or even hosting events. Despite the parking hassle, we had a great time and will definitely be back especially to try their brunch!

**Automatic 25% tip added onto your bill [the bill will say 18%, but this place tips on tax too so…read moreit's much more than 18%]** If you know anything about me and my reviews it's that I love me a good rooftop. The bar is on the 18th floor of the AC Hotel. I like that there is an indoor and a giant outdoor bar. The outdoor area is pretty massive. I could totally see bringing a work group here or a hot date. I ordered a $17 Bold Old Fashioned. It was fine, pretty standard. The staff does automatically add on an 18% tip. However, it is actually a 25% tip because you DO NOT tip on tax, yet this place does. Hence, no restaurant can be more than 3 stars when you are forced in to a 25% tip. Maybe I'd be back to check out the nighttime vibe, but it was just ok.
