My hand-me-down acoustic guitar met Kip and his fantastic crew at Starr Guitars months before I…read moreever stepped foot into their workshop thanks to my boyfriend, who informed me that Starr Guitars was the unparalleled in the guitar maintenance and service department. They gave my guitar more TLC in the few weeks at their shop, than I have in the three years I've been in possession of it. Passion doesn't even begin to describe the labor of love these guys have for their work. I recently visited their workshop, and I left with my head swimming. From a tune up in the workshop to creating a custom piece or nailing the accurate color paint job, these guys truly know how to cater to the needs and desires of their customer base. They truly love what they do, they genuinely care about each of those guitars that cross the threshold, and do their utmost to provide their clientele with an exceptional customer service experience. Although the staff at SG are all guys, I did not feel the least bit excluded or unwelcome. This isn't some Old Boys' Club where the womenfolk aren't welcome. I not only felt welcome, but I felt like family. Even as a novice, I left feeling like a rock star! Like finding the perfect hair stylist, finding a stellar luthier is equally difficult to find. Orlandoans and central Floridians, listen up! Bottom Line: If you have a guitar that needs work, take your baby to SG. They will welcome you into the family and give you honest feedback on what needs to be done. The SG Folks won't jerk you around and waste your time on shoddy work or selling you additional items or unnecessary services.

I drove over 500 miles from North Carolina with one goal in mind: to visit this legendary store I had heard so much about. Bass players rave that this is the place you must check out--and now, I fully understand why. Before making the trip, I reached out to Beaver, the owner, via email. He was quick to respond, and incredibly detailed and thoughtful in his replies. He made sure all my questions were answered and gave me expert advice, which made me feel 100% confident in my purchase before I even set foot in the store. Unfortunately, due to some last-minute circumstances, I couldn't make it to the store to pick up the gear myself. Therefore, my wife, who knows nothing about bass gear, had to step in. She said the in-store experience was exceptional. The staff of Mike, JD, and a fellow named Grasshopper were super knowledgeable and passionate. They went out of their way to make her feel comfortable. In addition, they set up and tested everything, ensuring it was in perfect working order, and even helped her load the heavy amp and cabinet into her car. As for the Ampeg, it sounds phenomenal--rich, powerful, and exactly the tone I was after. If you're beginner, intermediate, or professional bass player, you need to visit Bass Central. Forget the big chain stores; this place offers a phenomenal selection and customer service that goes above and beyond. I couldn't recommend it more!
