Service wasn't bad. Our waitress was extremely sweet and provided really good recommendations which we all really enjoyed. They were well made and definitely the highlight of the visit. Unfortunately, the bathrooms were very dirty and poorly maintained, which really took away from the overall experience. Cleanliness is a big part of comfort when dining or drinking out, and it's something I hope they address because it overshadowed an otherwise decent time. The space is broken up into two bars. One was Christmas theme and one had Christmas decor, but wasn't focused on Christmas. First, this place is now called "The Dust". I was here for a birthday celebration with approximately 40 to 50 people in our group. We looked into the locations at least a month ago and feel in love with the backroom that casts red-light glow. Our burlesque dancer had been there before so it was perfect. We spoke to staff and eventually the owner about hosting the party here and possibly a future Halloween party if things went well. The day of the party, everything took a sour turn unfortunately. The staff seemed unwilling to play our music despite the speakers being separate from the main area and volume could be controlled pretty easily. The times I went to grab a drink I couldnt hear the music in our section at all and vice versa. I found out the bartender in charge of the music told the birthday girl that our music "wasn't the vibe" and "they try to keep it classy". It honestly came off as rude. Meanwhile, the dj that came later in the evening playing very similar music to what was on our Spotify lists. It felt like we were an inconvenience, despite clearing several requests with the owner that went unfulfilled. The owner did nothing to remedy and backed his staff, despite it going against his initial agreement. It was disappointing. I won't rate it one star because the drinks were on point. While the staff and owner should've have been more on the same page and upheld their promises, there were not big arguments or anything. No hard feelings, but we know what we know now. The bathrooms stayed pretty clean which is impressive for sure. Im honestly disappointed this wasn't better because it really did seem like a great venue for out Halloween party. This is a bar near Lake Eola that has a Vegas throwback vibe. I went to watch a comedy show, and hung out for a couple drinks beforehand. The music was extremely loud and we had to shout the entire time. Even when we went in the room for the comedy, the music was too loud and distracting to the comedians. The drinks were nothing exceptional, but the seating was cool and you could bring in your own food. I feel like this place doesn't care about making money. He made us feel very uncomfortable the way that he was learing and staring and ogling us. I went to my normal bartender whose name is Nick he has long dark hair and pretty blue eyes and he's always been very considerate and a decent bartender. Until Friday the 27th. I told Nick how the man was making us feel after I asked who he was. Nick's response was he's a regular and there's nothing I can do or say. My response to Nick was if you don't say anything I will and I'm coming to you first so you know if something pops off you know why and you can't say that I didn't tell you. I go back to dancing with my homegirl and other ladies that were there that night when she told me that she saw him recording us and taking pictures. I went back up to Nick and told him that the guy was seen recording us. And again Nick said there was nothing he could do I was very frustrated with this and I told him again when I go up to him I don't want to hear nothing. And then I tried to come at him different and I asked him a question. I asked if he had a sister and his reply was you're being very aggressive we're not going to do this. This blue-eyed devil called me aggressive because I asked him a question. Because he had no intentions of doing anything about this man violating the women in the club. I went up to the bouncer who was a black man and told him about the situation and he said I have to talk to Nick. I said I'm not talking to Nick because Nick is an a****** I already spoke to him and he didn't do anything. The man kept learing making me very angry I was trying to enjoy my evening cuz I was finally celebrating my birthday and my graduation. So I didn't want to have any type of disagreement or argument with a man who was being disrespectful. I walked up to this very sweet girl name Rianna whose girlfriend happens to be one of the bartenders as well. Unbeknownst to me I told Rianna about the man who was making us uncomfortable. She said you should have came to my lady, you should have never went to Nick because he's a man. Her girlfriend's name is Liz and Liz told me if he did one more thing to make us uncomfortable he would be removed. Next thing you know my friend went up to Nick to explain how disrespectful it was to call me aggressive when all I was doing was protecting women. And how he came across as a racist to me which to me he definitely is I will never ever spend money at this place with him. He will never be my bartender again. I may not even go back to this environment because of him. However if I do return the only person I will be giving my money to will be liz. I will only be attending the bar when Liz is on duty. This man was a fake and a phony every time he dealt with me obviously. Because the minute me as a black woman had a issue with a man who was not black this man I don't know if he was white or Hispanic it really doesn't matter. Nick stood by the man and did nothing to protect the women at all. It took a woman thank you again Liz and Rianna for stepping up and showing up for women. Next thing I knew the guy was gone. I didn't even want him removed I just wanted Nick to speak to him and let him know that he was making us uncomfortable and to stop doing what he was doing. If you see a group of women dancing don't linger and stare while they're dancing go up to one of them and ask them to dance that way you don't come up like Trump a rapist in the making waiting lurking. Women should feel safe when they go out dancing and because the bartender did nothing and the security guard did nothing when I first told them both about the situation I will be rating this bar a one I wish I could braid it a zero based on my experience. The sad thing is I've been going to this place for almost a year now and this is the first time I ever had any type of issue and when I spoke up I was talked down to like I was trash because I was a black woman. Because when my friend who happens to be white went up to him it was a very different story. He listens to her he didn't dismiss her. read more

If you like dive bars as much as I do, StarDust Lounge will not disappoint. Actually, for the variety of spirits they have and the quality of the drinks, can't really classify it as a dive bar. Okay, how about a Stardust Lounge. Yeah, that's it! It is in the basement and the stairs leading down could be treacherous if you've tied one on. Even more treacherous going up after a night of strong drinks, pool, and great music. The crowd here is mixed, although late night the young people seem to pop up like Tribbles. Yes I did say Tribbles. If you are not sure what they are, Google it. I am smerking to myself about this Stardust/Star Trek reference. The bartenders here are great and they make exceptional drinks. The first time I found myself here under the dim red lights, it transported me back to a time where a suit was required for a night out. Besides the pool tables, and there are two, the best thing about Stardust Lounge is the activities. Stardust is a cool lounge near Lake Eola in downtown Orlando. The bar is under street level down a flight of stairs. It has dim lighting and a cool retro, pinup girl era type vibe. On my most recent visit, we stopped in for a drink after walking around the Lake Eola Farmer's Market and other areas of downtown. The bartender was friendly and made some delicious drinks. We opted to try specialty drinks off of their menu; I tried their Stardust cocktail and my boyfriend tried their Tattoos and Pinups cocktail. Both of them were mixed well and pretty strong. We chilled in a small booth and enjoyed our beverages. I've never been here for the late night hours, but it's always a fun spot to pop in during the day in my experience and I'll definitely return. read more

An underground bar is already a fun concept in a place like Florida. and right next to our famous sinkhole, lake Eola. It's dimly lit and just like some other bars that have an old timey vibe it's easy to create a myth that you are somewhere else at some other time. they even have burlesque shows here which is the first time I was here. Stopped by after the basketball game. There is a parking garage caddy corner to this place. It's underground, so keep an eye open for the stairwell down. Their liquor selection is modest. I wanted better bourbon options, but they didn't have much. So I went with Jameson. The DJ was doing a good job, but then he would play a song that would totally annihilate the dance floor. Wow...what a little hidden gem in the underground of Orlando! I cant count the number of times I passed this place thinking it was too sketch to try...boy was I mistaken! I have now been on several occassions, some I remember more than others! I love the decor and feel of this place, retro is most definitely the word that comes to mind first. Dim but appropriate lighting, good music, cool seating, stellar staff, a hidden pocket area that holds a pool table, good drinks and apparently pretty legit burlesque shows! Usually have decent drink specials, but I usually keep it classy with the ole PBR, which might I add is a cool $2.50 for a tall boy. For me this place immediately brought memories of a trip to Boston in which my best memory was walking down a side alley and spotting an underground bar, which turned out to be one of the best highlights of that visit. Stardust allows me to recreate that experience anytime I reminisce..of course with out the loud Irish music and pickle back shots for all. I've been here four or five times previously. The lighting and decor are perfect. Sometimes it's fun. I had two girlfriends in from out of town, Friday March 9, we really wanted to dance. It appeared a lot of the other patrons did too. We wrote some requests for the DJ who almost completely ignored all but one of them, we were there three hours waiting to hear anything in the vein of our suggestions. He did play every cheesy over-played song like Girls Just want to Have Fun and Ice Ice Baby. We saw cockroaches having their own dance party on a lime we dropped (their taste in music is pretty simplistic) The absolute worst part was the staff lost my friends credit card and did nothing to locate it. They didn't even look for it or attempt to contact the bartender (whose shift had ended) who took the card to find out any information. Very rude, unhelpful and unprofessional. Pretty sure they switched Kettle One vodka for a cheaper brand. I am very sad this place keeps disappointing, there are not many nearby places to go dance to fun music. Hands down the best ambiance for a downtown bar. No smoking so to me it's better than the other downstairs lounge downtown. Happy Hours are a lot of fun, I usually finish work there or chat with the bartenders. Hunter and Nick are very friendly and attentive. One night I was there, my friend had a romper on and really had to pee and unfortunately she couldn't make it to the toilet. This was the worst experience ever, the long hair Asian bartender totally ignored me and another African American guy who eventually walked away. After about 15 minutes of waiting and seeing a few Caucasian walked up and was severed within minutes. I challenged the bartender and he said I can just leave, I was infuriated and walked to the other side where the young lady assisted me immediately. As I was about to pay , the bouncer approached me and asked me to leave . I was in a party of 14 , so we all left. I hope the manager sees this and hold this ignorant bartender accountable for his unprofessional behavior that cost him hundreds in lost revenue. read more

When I walked in I immediately was reminded of the Brady Bunch while simultaneously feeling like I was walking into the haunted mansion. I am not joking, I can't make that ish up...it's literally a decor of both meshed together. It sounds weird but it's AWESOME! When you arrive at the top of the stairs on the street, you can actually hear the energy coming from Stardust. You hear the tunes, the medium rumblings of awesome people chattin it up and you are so intrigued that you have to check this place out! When I entered, I was a little thrown off by the ceiling being so close to my head because living in Florida, I am used to 20 ft ceilings so when I enter a "basement" bar...I immediately think of Philly. Kinda dope. The jams were straight out of a grade school dance (straight up now tell me do you wanna love me forever ow, ow, ow) and I ate it up. It was just such a great, chill vibe and a nice change from what I am used to DT. Of course when I rolled up to the bar and asked if they had cider and they said yes...I almost did a happy jig. This place was awesome! My girls and I found a corner booth and just chilled as we chatted and people watched, it made for a good time. We only chilled for a little over an hour so I did not get the full effect of this dope location but no doubt, I will be back! read more

I am a huge fan of Stardust. I didn't know it existed until my blog partner published a post about it, and even then it took me months-and-months to finally make the effort to visit; some co-workers & I popped-in one Friday after work. Definitely a fun atmosphere, and you never really know quite what crowd you're going to get either. The only thing I haven't been fond of--and it's been consistent over my few visits--is a strange smell...almost like trash. I suppose your nose adapts to it after a while, but it's not welcoming when you first enter the bar. read more

Stardust is one of Orlando's happy hidden secrets for those in the know. A few blocks seperated from the Orange Ave. strip full of barely 20-somthings who have confused Orlando with the Jersey Shore, Stardust caters to a slightly older and more sophisticated crowd. No, it's not full of people my parents age (althought there are a few folks there who may be), but it is mostly upper 20's-early 30's who still know how to have fun and aren't concerned with showing off their god given talent to shoot jager until they puke. The decor is modern ranch home meets retro 70s meets carnival. Ya...I dont really know how to describe...but it works. Its mature but still fun. Even though the crowd skews to an older demo, you'll find it can flucuate from night to night as far as the type of crowd. Weekdays it seems there are more hipster/service industry folks escaping for a drink. Weekends more of a professional crowd. The place is very open and diverse. It's the kind of bar where everyone is welcome...unless they're d*bags. Prices are very reasonable, especially for the neighborhood. Drink special are on par, if not better than most downtown bars. It should be noted that the place is home to a 20's style burlesque show produced by Orlando's Blue Starr, and several other unique entertainment offerings that make it a great place to stop for something different. Kudos that it's non-smoking. Especialy with the low ceilings, it would be unbareable. The only real negative I have found about the place is that some of their DJ's dont understand how to use a volume control, and it easily gets far louder than it should. I love a good dance club, but this is not one. The space is too small and the ceilings too low to turn it up the way they do...and it just becomes too much after a while. I will say though, for anyone who has a guilty pleaure for 80's, 90's, early 00's, usually their talents are spot on. My girlfriend brought me here to a friends birthday celebration for "dirty bingo." I had a blast. The host was funny and the games were a treat. We won two dirty prizes.(I insisted that we wash them as soon as we got home) My girlfriend was really worried that children might read my review, so I figured I would make it as kid friendly as possible. Grown-ups put papery paper down in front of them and drink yummy "silly drinks." The host of the games calls out numbers and letters until a wobbly grown-up screams out the word, "BINGO." Expert tip~ "bingo" is also what you say to your partner if you're a detective and he guesses the solution to the clue you've already worked out. Anyway, kiddos... if you are the wobbly person who wobbles from silly drinks, and you yell out "Bingo," (not because you have a break in your detective case) you win a toy. But not a toy you are allowed to play with till you're a grown-up. ...Even though we won one that looks like a really cool rocket ship that bumbles and shakes when you make it crash land in your girlfriends silly drink. These prizes are for grown ups! The silly drinks are good and strong, and the responsible wobbly grown ups all had a really nice time. I'm guessing some of the prize winners went home to have an even better time. But, not me. My girlfriend was mortified that I made our rocket ship crash in her drink, so we had a long boring grown up talk on the way home about how rocket ships shouldn't be played with in public EVEN if they came with batteries already installed, and EVEN if I scream out "I'M GIVIN' HER ALL SHES GOT, CAPTAIN," or "Nuclear Wessles." All that said, it was a fun night until the boring ride home lecture. (she even took the rocket away from me) Highly recommend. read more

First time here last night, and was glad that I tried a new place that was also nestled around other places that I already frequent (Eola Wine, Cityfish, Shari....all a short walk away). So why 3 stars? It really is a cool looking place, would be an absolute blast for a group of people because of the swanky furniture, low lights, and low enough music to enjoy but not have to scream overtop of. I almost feel guilty when I go into a bar, and the timing of the barstaff is in that gray area where you're having that mental conversation "if they don't come in the next 2-3 minutes, I will just sneak out and go somewhere else"......and then boom, they show up. It was sort of that situation, so I don't know how it would fare if they were busy. It was the first trip here, and would still completely go back, because the staff really were nice, and the mixed drink selection was substantial. Didn't seem to be a substantial craft brew selection, but hey, Eola Wine is across the street, and the beers that are offered here don't break the piggy bank. read more

Having passed by this spot countless times in the daytime, I was so pleasantly surprised by the vibe inside Stardust Lounge after my friend took me here one Friday night. 5 words made me take a bee-line over here from Orange Ave: "The DJ spins 90s hip-hop." Retro AF inside, the vibes & older (aka anyone older than the early 20s) crowd are mad cool. Barbarella on the TV screens was a nice touch too. I've been DYING for a good joint I can get down to Wu-Tang, Biggie, Ice Cube and the rest of the classics - Stardust is it. I'll definitely be coming back whenever I need that dope Friday night vibe. read more

There are a couple positives: There's an actual live DJ playing eclectic music, though sometimes the transitions are lazy (but most people are drunk and don't give a damn about that kind of thing). Funky interior, located underground, and overall a good feel despite being bedazzled with Thorton Park's eighty-dollar-T-shirt crowd. Another positive: cheap beer in addition to more expensive mixed drinks. Though if you love PBR, there's a million other places to get it for the same price. Negatives: when I think Stardust in Orlando, I think of Stardust Video and Coffee (and food and beer and music and general hipness). This lounge has some balls to call itself Stardust, but whatever, at least the people who run the Lounge believe in the validity of their business enough to provide good service to reinforce the atmosphere--oh wait, no. The bartenders are dicks. Last call was at 1:50, so you'd expect time to relax and finish the drink you just bought. But no. At 2AM on the dot the music is cut, the lights come up and the bartenders are using the DJ's microphone to announce that people "have to go." Not once, but every two minutes. It was enough to make me never want to return. A friend of mine voiced his complaint to the bartender, to which he replied, "Nice shirt." (It should be noted here that my friend was not wearing one of the aforementioned bedazzled and overpriced catastrophes more commonly seen in the bar, nor did it contain any sort of skull or ridiculous emblem; so what they hell was this bartender trying to say?). Anyhow, voices were raised, and a guy named Burt was summoned (I'm not one for nicknames, but if you're a bouncer named Burt you might want to think of an alias, unless maybe you're going for the whole Boy Named Sue thing). So Burt the Bouncer was not at all needed, no fists were raised, and it only made me more furious they were trying to physically remove a customer for voicing an honest complaint. I'm sure this story sounds bitter and bias. But it happened and the bottom line is they lost a few customers for good that night.
