Flores Cafe sits in a nondescript shopping center at the corner of Carson Street (x) S Wilmington Ave. A prominent tenant of "Car-Wil Plaza" is Starbucks. An additional landmark--"Malamalama Ole Lalolagi" Church, is across the street. Mexico is a large country. As such there are many regional cooking styles. Barriers to entry are relatively low; so, if someone feels that they have good recipes, they can open their own business. The plus side is that in Southern California, we have access to a variety of "Mexican" food. I have had many good meals in small family restaurants. But a lot of small restaurateurs don't have a lot of capital; as such, decor is an afterthought. While not polished, the owners of Flores Cafe have put a lot of effort into decoration. The interior walls are covered with portraits of entertainment personalities, with a Día de los Muertos overlay. It's probably worth at least one visit to go and see. Service at some smaller restaurants is sometimes wanting. The waiter and waitress were outfitted professionally in black jeans and black dress shirts. The table service offered was also good. On this occasion, I ordered the carne asada burrito; rice, with no beans ($12.99); covered in the red sauce ($3.99). With a Pepsi ($5.99) and tax ($2.40), my ticket was $25.37 before gratuity. The texture of the food on the plate was a bit rustic; but I think this is attributable to cooking style. Overall, the taste was good; the overall size of the burrito, and its contents, was reasonable in the current environment. I took lunch, mid-day, mid-week; so, I can't comment on their promotional events, like karaoke,

I found their instagram page and the food looked amazing, so we decided to try them out for lunch. They're located in a small strip mall; the kind of place people might drive on by, but definitely stop in for some good food! We went New Year's Day, making sure we paid attention to their special hours. Walking in, it looks like a club, not a restaurant. I can only imagine how lit this place is at night and on weekends. The walls are painted black with neon murals painted all over. It was fairly empty and they had bachata loudly playing on one tv and a game on another. It's definitely screams a club atmosphere, but with a restaurant inside. Yeni greeted us and came over and took our order. I ordered a small carnitas taco, since carnitas are my favorite. The meat was tender and flavorful. Exactly what I expected it to be. We also ordered the combination fajitas and the 3 mole enchiladas plate. Everything was so delicious! The rice and beans really caught our attention. It's not always that I enjoy the rice and beans, but theirs was really good! Everything was seasoned well and piping hot when it came out. Their chips and salsa were also good! We bought some to take home, along with a to-go order of shrimp ceviche. We will for sure be back to try more on their menu! Very glad we tried them out!

Came for lunch. Been a year since I was last here and obviously it's undergone alot of changes. Has more of a black light party vibe now versus the old school styled Cafe. Lots of modern / Hispanic pop culture art on the walls everywhere. Service was great servers were attentive and quick to take order and check back in to see if you needed anything. Ordered the tamal, taco, enchilada combo plate. Food was good/ filling and covered the entire platter. Would recommend a visit. Not sure about the night scene but looks like they have music and bar for weekends.

While running errands, I started to get hungry and had a craving for asada fries. Yum! I decided to stop by Flores Cafe, a small Mexican restaurant in Carson with plenty of free parking, a definite plus for me. As soon as I walked in, I was warmly greeted and placed a to-go order for asada fries. They didn't take long to prepare, and they came out fresh and hot. The fries were good, though I've had better. I couldn't help but wonder if they would've tasted even better if I'd eaten them right away at the restaurant. Maybe!

8 camarones rancheros for $25.99 is a little ridiculous.

{{ This is just a review of the FOOD only! A friend of mine bought me a green burrito and it was the BEST I've had ever. I've never been to the restaurant but I've eaten the food twice so far. Yummy! One gripe...!! I hate the fact that they put the salad Inside The Togo container with the hot burrito. I don't care for warm salad. And if you need to reheat the burrito you have to remove the salad first or wind up with really hot salad! Honestly I'd rather not have any salad then to have it inside my container.. So next time I'll order mine with no salad. Also it come with a few more chips! I didn't pay for the meal so I can not rate the price. But I'd definitely eat here again! ... That's it's! My cousins came to visit and brought food from Flores. I have had lots and lots of Mexican food from many, many places and a lot of homemade Mexican. This food was the absolute BEST I have ever had! Both my cousins and I kept saying over and over how much we loved it. We all had different things and we couldn't find a thing wrong with any of it. Then I found out it was less than a mile from my house! I will definitely make this my new place for Mexican! read more

Service was awful. No customer service at all and food tasted old, hard and not good. I got a stomach ache after eating the food and the fountain drinks tasted bad as well. The two waitresses are not friendly, courteous or come to your table to check on you. I will never come back again. We still paid and we are not the type to try t get out of paying but I did tell the waitress how awful my food tasted and how my stomach was hurting and I specify I'm not telling you in a bad way for you to give me anything free I'm only telling you so the future clients won't get bad food. She said don't worry about the future clients or what they eat, and walked away with our credit card and bill. She came back and charged it and gave us the receipt to sign and walked away. She never apologized. This business needs to be checked out by BBB. We are normally very good tippers and with her attitude and demeanor, we did not leave a tip. They had an awful attitude since we walked in. We came on a Sunday, I don't know if they were having a bad day or in a hurry or they saved the food from the week. But I've never seen this kind of service when we're paying. read more

Can't give you a proper review because we never got our food. If I had the option I would choose NO STARS! Put in our order around 10:45 am, left the restaurant only having chips, salsa, water for my boyfriend and iced tea for me at 11:20. So if you plan on coming here don't give your order to the older mexican lady. She was too busy watching the news and dropping everything on the floor. Service here SUCKS!! read more

DISAPPOINTING!!!! This place used to be a family favorite for Mexican food But not only are they way over priced!!! The service is poor!!! 3 waitresses and 1 only brought us water! There were 5 tables taken so it wasn't because it was busy!!! Don't even try to ask any questions they treat u like ur bugging them!!! Never will I ever go back there!!! The most amazing thing about Flores is how fast the service is. I think they have psychic cooks who know what you are going to order! It's nice to be able to relax after eating for a few minutes since we don't have a long wait for our food. Really good salsa with a kick to it. Lunch specials every day that are usually something I'll want. If you are in a hurry but still want a nice restaurant meal, Flores is your best bet. read more

I work in Carson and was looking for a place to have an office outing event. I called Flores Cafe since they advertise karaoke and I thought it would be a good place to have an offie outing. Even though they don't do karaoke, they still said they would call in their dj and provide us with the karaoke for the night. The office had a BLAST! We sang, danced, and ate their delicious food! Not only does Flores Cafe offer great food, but they also have great prices! And their manager and staff are so friendly, helpful and and are always there when you need a refill or anything else. I would definitly recommend this place! Especially for office outings. p.s. every meal comes with a free salad..can't beat that :) read more

Review for catering: It was only appropriate that my last lunch meal in Carson was from Flores. I got lunch catered for the office on my last day of work (this was April 2013). They were very accommodating and the food was great. Meat was cooked perfectly, as always. For some reason I like their meat even better when catered (I had it catered one other time at a vendor's BBQ). If your office is looking for catering options, I would not hesitate recommend Flores. My new office does a lot of catering/luncheons and I wish we were closer to Flores. read more

I went with two of my friends and we were excited to try this new place and as we were finishing the chips that they serve with salsa there was a big lint looking thing. And then we gave it another chance and saw a small hair on the rice. As I was going to tell a worker she moved the rice from my hand very sneakily. And to add the shrimp cocktail was not good the shrimp seemed old. The chicken from the fajitas were not flavored. Worse experience ever. I don't know if because we went on a slow night they re heated my beans and rice in the microwave the beans tasted like they were from the can. Terrible! They nickel and dime you! I ordered a chicken burrito. I only wanted chicken, lettuce, and cheese. I had to pay two extra dollars for more chicken since all the over fixings were taken out. Just exactly how much (or how little chicken does the burrito come with?). I couldn't order kid meals to go because this is against policy, even though I had two kids with me. Oh and if you'd like a side of green salsa to go be prepared to paid $5 for it. According the server they don't have green salsa, it's already mixed with the pork so if you want some you have to pay extra. I don't know how thy makes sense- either you have it or you don't. Terrible experience. I won't be nickel an dime by an establishment that at 6:20 pm is completely empty! read more

Good variety of meats, reasonable prices, and plenty of toppings to customize your tacos. I'll definitely be back when I'm in the area and craving some tacos.

Plenty of protein and the sides blend well flavor wise. Stuffed myself and I couldn't even finish. Chips and salsa are provided for each table. We also ordered guac. I thought the guac needed a little more seasoning but very fresh. Chips were thin and crispy. Been here a few times and will keep coming back.

I normally am not a huge fan of beans but his beans are the best. My husband got the nacho supreme and two chicken tacos. Nacho supreme was great, lots of toppings and beans and cheese. Tacos were good, but he wishes the tomatoes in the tacos were diced. They gave us two salsas, both were not spicy! Great spot for a quick meal with a nice owner.

When I pointed toward a container to clarify, she snapped at me with attitude, "No, that's a wine glass," even though I wasn't pointing anywhere near it. To make matters worse, a single to-go drink is over $20--at that price, I'd rather just buy a whole bottle.

This used to be the spot where you'd enjoy an early breakfast with your family and get great service for a great price. It is no longer that. The family feel that you used to get it gone as they've made it a spot for live music and karaoke. I placed an order over the phone and it's no wonder that they got my order wrong, the music is so loud. I ordered 3 combo plates and 2 horchatas. My total? $100. Absolutely insane for the amount of food you get. I picked up my order and asked for the receipt after seeing the price and they seemed confused as to why I was asking for it. I was asking for it because their online prices are far off to what their actual prices are. Once I received the receipt I looked over it and realized that my order was wrong. I told the lady that my order was wrong and she reassured me that it was correct. So I left but then decided to pull over and check my order. It was wrong. I went back again for the second time and waited for someone to come speak to me. I spoke to one person and they passed me off to another person and then one more person. It was a young man and he was the only one who seemed truly apologetic. He fixed my order and sent me on my way. Unfortunately I will not be back. No one makes better enchiladas, beef or chicken tacos, or fried fish. This place is perfect for breakfast too, American and Mexican style. Before I discovered that i was allergic to avacados my favorite plate was the shrimp, lime, avacado and cucumber ceviche. the shrimp are cooked aolely by the acidity of the limes. This dish tastes absolutely fresh and will satisfy! I've been going here with my family for more than 10 years now and I'm glad to see they're still around in Carson. Quite frankly one of my favorite places to get Mexican food in LA. Oh! And their prices are absolutely reasonable! You will be full halfway through your plate, I guarantee it! read more
