I found their instagram page and the food looked amazing, so we decided to try them out for lunch. They're located in a small strip mall; the kind of place people might drive on by, but definitely stop in for some good food! We went New Year's Day, making sure we paid attention to their special hours. Walking in, it looks like a club, not a restaurant. I can only imagine how lit this place is at night and on weekends. The walls are painted black with neon murals painted all over. It was fairly empty and they had bachata loudly playing on one tv and a game on another. It's definitely screams a club atmosphere, but with a restaurant inside. Yeni greeted us and came over and took our order. I ordered a small carnitas taco, since carnitas are my favorite. The meat was tender and flavorful. Exactly what I expected it to be. We also ordered the combination fajitas and the 3 mole enchiladas plate. Everything was so delicious! The rice and beans really caught our attention. It's not always that I enjoy the rice and beans, but theirs was really good! Everything was seasoned well and piping hot when it came out. Their chips and salsa were also good! We bought some to take home, along with a to-go order of shrimp ceviche. We will for sure be back to try more on their menu! Very glad we tried them out!

8 camarones rancheros for $25.99 is a little ridiculous.

Been to this location a few times and food has always been appetizing. My daughter loves coming here for their pasta. Service was excellent. Our server was very attentive.

Came for lunch. Been a year since I was last here and obviously it's undergone alot of changes. Has more of a black light party vibe now versus the old school styled Cafe. Lots of modern / Hispanic pop culture art on the walls everywhere. Service was great servers were attentive and quick to take order and check back in to see if you needed anything. Ordered the tamal, taco, enchilada combo plate. Food was good/ filling and covered the entire platter. Would recommend a visit. Not sure about the night scene but looks like they have music and bar for weekends.

    Asada Fries

While running errands, I started to get hungry and had a craving for asada fries. Yum! I decided to stop by Flores Cafe, a small Mexican restaurant in Carson with plenty of free parking, a definite plus for me. As soon as I walked in, I was warmly greeted and placed a to-go order for asada fries. They didn't take long to prepare, and they came out fresh and hot. The fries were good, though I've had better. I couldn't help but wonder if they would've tasted even better if I'd eaten them right away at the restaurant. Maybe!

I love the decor and the way it's neon in this restaurant walls and chairs. If you wear white you will glow. The drinks are good The service from the servers can be a bit more better. I feel that our drinks and food plates took a while to come out. Down fall is they need to put some type of hazard sign or watch your step on the floor I posted a picture. There's a small step in front of the women's restroom by some tables. My friend almost tripped because of that. Live music is the best and dj there was some karaoke. It's a family restaurant keep in mind it is very loud. Nice spot to come with friends and family

I ordered the #17 SHRIMP enchiladas combo plate to go. Although the flavors were good the portions were ridiculously small for the price. They used salad size shrimps and chopped it up to tiny pieces mixed it with vegetables for the enchiladas. I could not taste any shrimp only vegetables. The sides rice and beans portion did not even fill half of the container slots and the chips they gave us 6 chips SMH. I understand the food is expensive but if you are going to charge full portion prices you need to give FULL portion food and for this reason this was my first and last time patronizing this business.

Drinks were great! Service was fast . Music was loud. Live band and Dj. Recommend for large groups

Darn, I was hungry that I ate my food first instead of taking a pic of it! lol I ordered the shrimp in red sauce. It came with a side of rice and beans. It was delicious! Spanish rice was delectable & fresh. Refried beans were perfectly soft and topped with melted Mexican cheese. The cooked shrimp was in the red sauce. The red sauce was seasoned perfectly! Not too much and not too little which flavored the cooked shrimp well. We ordered it to go so our plate came with corn tortilla and chips with salsa. This was my first time to this cafe so upon entrance your eyes are distracted by the art that covers that restaurant- and lit by black light (see pictures). The art covers every wall and ceiling. Music was nice and poppen, not too loud. I was so distracted by the art that it took me a minute to review the menu that was given to us upon entrance. We went on Monday evening and it wasn't that busy so we were greeted upon entrance, given a menu and ordered. Wait time for our order wasn't long at all and once I did place the order, the server gave us water while we waited. The only thing about this place is there isn't any windows but there is plenty of ceiling fans in the dining room. Note, the server who greeted us and took our order did speak English. He spoke both English and Spanish. I promise next time I go back I'll take a pic of the food. Lol I'm giving this place a 5 star rating because the food was amazing. I think the dining tables and chair could be a wee bit more comfortable but for this place that almost looks like a hole in the wall, it was a pleasant surprise.

I was a little skeptical at first since they use an older system where you select songs using a large tablet style remote instead of a modern digital interface. Also, don't expect the music videos to match your song choices. Many aren't the official versions and sometimes random clips, often K-pop, will play instead. A big plus is that our room had a fan, so it didn't feel stuffy and the temperature was comfortable the whole time. We were also able to get a room right away on a Friday at 7 pm, which was great. Some songs I wanted weren't available, like "Pocketful of Sunshine" by Natasha Bedingfield, "Stop and Stare" by OneRepublic, and "E.T." by Katy Perry, along with a few others I expected to find. I just moved on when something wasn't there. I will go back.

There are three reasons this place more than deserves the five stars. First, the drinks. They have a plethora of the actual cocktails you would see in japan. Suzume Kohaku AND Tomino Hozan? Oolong Highballs? Half bottles of Kubota? YES PLEASE. If you used to be a regular at any bar in Shinjuku's hidden but legendary Golden Gai district, this will feel like a taste of home. Also, there's a full bar menu with Karaage, Yam salad, and Mentaiko pasta? Are you kidding me? Second, the food. Not only do they have great bar food up with the best Japanese night life spots in LA, you can ALSO order in a bowl of ramen off the EXTRA FULL MENU from the ramen restaurant next door. AND, about the ramen. Every 2 years a friend and I travel all over Japan and rank the best ramen to compare with America. Josui (the ramen shop nextdoor to Astro) is definitely up there with Kyushu Jangara, Tanaka Shoten, Sumire, and dare I say Kozo Mata Omaeka. Especially their Miso ramen. The flavor is phenomenal, the oil level is on point, the noodles are perfectly cooked, the chashu is melt in your mouth, ANNDDD it comes HoT HOT HOT because the bar and the restaurant share the same kitchen. However, one should be careful with the spice as they do use habanero peppers for their spice. It's the only downside as I love spice but me and many others are not a fan of the habanero family/flavor. Ie, if you're going for Josui Ramen, you might as well goto Astro and get a better selection, but bring your own Rayu or Shichimi Togarashi. Third. The darts. Most people think of darts at bars as these beat up corkboard darts with bent tails. And for the most part, you are correct. But If you're familiar with the world of darts, you know about the Phoenix Machines. And they have the latest ones. These are THE proper tournament level dart boards connected to an entire worldwide online community. Everyone who is serious about darts has an account on these machines. Playing solo? Log in with your ID and get connected with a player at a pool hall in Tokyo. Looking for local players? link up with someone in LA Ktown. Heading to Korea? bring your account card with you and link up to a Phoenix machine at Dart Prince in Gangnam. Also don't be surprised if the groups in the lanes to the left and right of you at Astro brought their own set of professional darts. I do not want to post this because Astro has been a locals secret for a number of years, has a strong community of Tokyo transplants (expect to hear a LOT of Japanese) and I like having a machine available on our date nights. But I have NO idea why right now it's only 4 stars so gotta give them some love. Y'all missing out. Full transparency, if it starts to get too crowded there, I'm taking this review down. See you on the boards.

Definitely a no frills karaoke spot that locals come to relive stress and have some fun. You can…read moreorder drinks and even get some decent ramen next door. My friends and I came to chop it up. Orders some snacks and had a good time.

1 Star - Worst Experience I've Ever Had at a Bar…read more I've been to The Blind Donkey in downtown Long Beach before but what happened last night deserves to be shared. I came here with a friend last night and ordered a blonde beer that tasted completely off -- it genuinely tasted like blue cheese. My friend encouraged me to ask for a replacement since something was clearly wrong with it. When she brought it to the bar, the bartender told her he'd replace it and that it was on the house, but then made her pay for the second drink anyway. If I had known she'd still be charged, I would've just not asked for another drink. When I came up to the bar to clarify why she paid for something he said was comped, the bartender backtracked and said he "didn't mean" that. I asked if they could void the second charge, since this was supposed to be a simple replacement. He kept explaining that he is charging us for this second one because it was not a blonde, it was a white ale. I told him that's fine, but why did he say it was "on the house" and now charging us anyway? He ended up bringing over the manager. The manager was a short, Latino man with a hat on. He was incredibly rude from the moment he arrived explaining the beer was a blonde- which I know what I ordered, but tasted whack. He didn't look at us, didn't listen to anything we were saying, and without asking a single question he grabbed both drinks we paid for and dumped them down the drain. We were stunned -- we paid for both of them and now had nothing. When he came back, I calmly told him we paid for both drinks he just threw out. His response? "Don't expect to come here and get free drinks." Which is wild considering we never asked for anything free -- we were just trying to get the mistaken charge fixed. When I told him he needed to void the drink he dumped, he called security on us. We weren't loud, drunk, or confrontational. Security refused to give us the manager's name, and only one finally whispered "Ken," though at that point it felt like they were just saying anything to get us out the door. I've worked in customer-facing roles before. I understand dive bars aren't known for luxury service, but this wasn't about service -- it was about basic respect, integrity, and not charging customers for drinks you throw away yourself. I'm leaving this review as a Long Beach local, it's saddening to see how a popular bar like The Blind Donkey treats their customers. This was the worst experience I've ever had.

This is basically a high quality oven roasted rib eye steak. If you crave Prime Rib, what makes this a good meal is it comes with bread, soup and a baked potato and the cut comes in 3 sizes to choose from. The service is friendly and fast and this is family styled, no dress code nor any frills of ambiance. It's like a bar lounge with karaoke in the front and formal (casual) dining in the back Parking is easy, but remember this... If driving down Sepulveda and the Sam Franciscan is going to be on your right side... then the parking lot you want to pull into is on your right side BEFORE the San Franciscan yellow sign. If you pass it and pull into the next lot, it locks you in and does not connect to the restaurant and you'll then need to turn around pull out then get back onto Sepulveda, turn right onto Crenshaw and then reach the San Franciscan parking lot from the back or if confused you get back onto Sepulveda from there and try to park again and not miss the correct parking position of their parking lot.
