I was in search of a sit down Mexican restaurant in the area so I last minute chose this place. I thought it was odd they close at 6pm being a place that serves buckets of beer. The vibe was really off. The place is nice and clean and appealing but there was no music playing. They had on naked and afraid and some news on their TVs. We were the only people there so the place was so quiet and boring. The lady was very polite, but it just wasn't a "fun environment". The food came out at all different times which was weird because we were the only ones there. I'm always trying to find somewhere close to go hang out and invite friends to have drinks and eat but it was just so off I wouldn't want to go back with friends. Food- I had the fish taco which was good, the calamari was very chewy and not that good, and the enchiladas were decent Service - Service was good (flys were coming in tho so I think they should keep the door closed) Ambiance- lacking. They need some fun music and give me a reason to order some beer and hangout more. I don't really see this as anything other than a takeout place unless they extend their hours and improve the vibe. read more

I love this cute hidden gem in carson. It's hard to find a good shrimp cocktail these days! Plus they serve incredible MIcheladas and have big TV's to watch games. The menudo was out of this world! Not to mention the incredible portions. The owner came to our table to talk to us and share about himself and family. I visited El baja chef today after waiting few weeks to try it. As I walked in, the restaurant looked clean and welcoming, the cashier welcome me with a good demeanor and attentive attitude, the menu is straight forward and easy to navigate. My selection was the aguachiles and here's where the visit turned unpleasant. The ticket time for the aguachiles was over 30 minutes, eventhou there was only 4 people in the restaurant. Now the food, the aguachiles were not appealing to the eye, eventhou the flavor is salvageable , the fact that the shrimp was not allowed to curate at all did not compliment the dish , you would think after 30 min there the shrimp would be marinated properly. Also there was no tostadas or crackers as customary with this dish. Over all not a good experience, I'm not sure if I go back other than Invited but like I always say " try it for yourself." read more

I had the supreme nachos with meat. My taste buds wanted ground beef nachos. Not on the menu. :-(

This place looked good online so I decided to check it out on my lunch break. Decided on the nachos since they had a daily special with a drink for $10. Sounds good right? Wrong. The food was cold the cheese was half way melted the meat was cold and bunch of jalapeño on top. Now I've had nachos from a bunch of places but this was the worst just chips barely melted shredded cheese meat and a ton of jalapeño. This was a waste of time and money read more

Very mid menudo and pozole. The pozole lacked so much flavor, once I added salt, it tasted better. The meat they give you is 95% bone and 5% meat. They advertise all the time on the Carson 411 page "best menudo in town" but it wasn't that good, especially for the price. I also called in my order and they said 15 minutes but it ended up being close to 35 minutes. Probably won't be back. Update: my mom said the menudo made her sick. Its not one of the combos listed on their menu but have been to a lot of Mexican restaurants that will let you order whatever 2 items you want, I mean I dont think its a big deal to give me what I wanted. I also ordered 1 chicken and rice soup but when I got home discovered I had received 2 and paid for 2. Next time I will have them repeat my order to me before I pay. read more

My family and I used to love coming here for authentic Mexican food. After new management , the quality of food has completely changed for the worst. The chile rellenos are not the same and the beans were really old, if not expired. The chile relleno salsa tastes like a can of tomato paste. The chips were very stale. To pay for an order that's $70+, I expect quality food. I don't think we'll be coming back unless they bring the old management back. read more

So my boyfriend and I been wanting to visit this place we finally did. It was a bit empty. Which was good we got deleted right away. They came to us offering drinks. He took a regular lemonade and I asked for a strawberry lemonade. Now if you ask me I've had my share of lemonade but when I tasted that one it had a strange aftertaste. My boyfriend lemonade had the same aftertaste. We got suspicious on it so we asked for some water. Tell me why the water had the same aftertaste as both lemonade. The food was great and delicious really good food but the drinks yeah no. We asked the server over and told him what was going on and he was aware of the situation with the drinks. We recommended we get alcohol drinks but we were not up for it all the other drinks were served in the glass cup and we didn't want the same aftertaste once again. So he stated they had soda from the bottle we took that instead. We finished our food pay the bill and left a tip. The server did not charge us for the soda. But he did for the lemonades. Which is fine. If your going to go for the food I recommend but the drinks I wouldn't unless your getting an alcoholic drink. Other then that you should be good. read more

We made the mistake of actually heading to another restaurant before deciding with this place but I am happy to say that our bad decision lead us to a good one! Decor: This place looked very clean. There are well painted murals on the walls that depict a time line of a Hispanic culture. The booth that my mother and I stay on, was clean and comfy. They also have a flat screen television and was on the animal channel during our dinner. :] Service: The gentleman that helped us was great and checked up on us from time to time when he served us our meal! Food: I ordered Chile Relleno and my mom (the one that was craving Chile Relleno) ordered Carne Asada Burrito. My Chile Relleno was yummy. It was served with rice and beans. I was at a nearby BofA and hadn't had lunch, but saw Chile Relleno and thought it would be good to give it a shot. I personally thought that the prices for Mexican food was a bit high, but found the quality of the food to be good. I ordered the Wet Burrito with salsa verde which came out to $9. The burrito was decent size and they packed it with good tasting rice, beans, and al pastor. The plate came with a side of salad and some chips and salsa. The chips were cold, but the salsa was good. Service overall was friendly and quick. I'd say if you're in the area and are looking for a quick bite, Chile Relleno would be a good option. I live walking distance from this place, every time I need my Mexican food fix I walk there with my kids. I've had their chile relleno plate and their sopa de pollo, everything is very tasty! My kids have their chicken tacos, they're a bit on the dry side. There is no ambiance, it's literally a little hole in the wall, but their service is great! Very nice and welcoming. I purchased the menudo for $11 is was very disappointed. The taste of the menudo was good. But there was too much inedible fat, gristle, and bone in it. I guess it's used to bull it up. After removing the inedible part there was very little tripe and a lot of hominy. Im sire some of you say that's how menudo is served. I ordered food from this restaurant's app. It was my first time eating here. I ordered food for my family that totaled $70. I waited a little while and never received an update to my order letting me know if it was ready for pick up. I went to the restaurant and a young friendly woman was at the register. She told me she did not get an online order at all. I showed her my phone on their app and even my banking app that the total cost of order was already posted to it. She called 1 of 2 owners who did something on his end where he and she were able to see the order did come through to their app on their end. Even after seeing this the owner refused to honor my order or payment and told woman at the register for me call my bank and report it. I told her I still need the food and he told her to have me pay again and that he would "look into the online" ordering system or my order before he would authorize a refund for the online order. I placed a new order and paid with a different method. While I waited even longer for the food the woman said the owner told her to get my name and number and he will call me as soon as he looks into it. 5 days later and I have not received any calls. My bank account has not been refunded. I called today and the same young woman answered and she remembered me. She overly apologized and said she would contact one of the owners again. She said she will text me so I have her number to follow up. I am now waiting for a call back from the owner. read more

I found this place for a coworker I didn't know the area I was kind of starving so I think let's give a try OMG !! So I got the Chiles rellenos since is I guess that's the main plate cause of the name of the restaurant . Real Mexican Chile's rellenos have queso fresco I have tried them an another restaurants and they always have Monterrey cheese I don't why ?? But in here they have the queso fresco original and OMG!! They are delicious I really recommend this spot ! I tried the asada plate too delicious since then my favorite spot to eat !! And the waitress service really nice !! read more
