Wow, wow, wow. Fresh, authentic, homemade, not-greasy. Wanted to order 5 things on the menu but decided on the chilaquiles and chile relleno (of course since it's their namesake!). Both dishes were awesome. I didn't get that weighed down, greasy feeling even after eating both dishes! Most Mexican restaurants have chile rellenos that are over-battered and over-cheesy. This one is legit! Light on the batter with the real kind of cheese inside. Another way I judge Mexican restaurants is by their rice - this one was a home run . . . simple, not too hard, not too soft . . . just right! And the fresh chopped onions and cilantro on the side were perfect. Don't expect amazing ambiance (you're here for the food) and the Spanish TV channel was just a tad too loud for my eating pleasure. The best in the area! Chile Relleno is a mom & pop offering Traditional Mexican cuisine. I've been eating here for years. The sopes, ceviche, Chile rellenos, shrimp enchiladas, soups, tacos I've had at least half of the menu and it's all enjoyable! The people here are friendly! The food is delicious. Me and my fiancee were in the area and decided to give this place a try since it had good reviews on yelp. My fiancee had milanesa combination plate which included rice and beans, the milanesa itself was pretty good, we enjoy the salsa verde. I order steak nachos didn't look very appealing, no tomatoes, no guacamole, no pico de gallo all I asked for was no jalapeño and this is what I got. I notice the meat had chunks of fat, which I hate on my food. The overall flavor of the food was good. As for the customer service I think it can use a little improvement. read more

I love this restaurant, I think? I started at the bakery part and haven't had the belly to work my way next door. I kept ordering their empanadas with Inca Cola like Harold and Kumar's obsession with White Castle burgers (wink wink). The restaurant menu looks yummy so I WILL GET THERE ONE DAY. Living in the South Bay, it is hard to find a decent Mexican food restaurant that meets expectations of quality, price and location. Dine in and enjoy a cozy atmosphere or call in advance and take out. The dishes take a while to be prepared but it is worth the wait! Cash or plastic accepted. Ordered a Burrito Deluxe with chicken. Came with chips, salsa and a soda. Food came a few minutes after placing our order (quicker than I expected based on other reviews). The burrito had chicken, rice, beans and fresh avocado - didn't detect any sour cream inside, so asked for some on the side. Food quality was fair. A decent value for $8. Not large inside the restaurant. Limited seating. Went into restaurant wanting to order a chili relleno, as the name of the place suggests, but my stomach steered my towards a chicken burrito. Hands down the best authentic chile rellenos! Husband and I go at least once a week. I'd give it 5 stars, however their customer service is not the best. The worst, I went here because they stated online that they would have a veggie burrito. Upon arriving (at 9:15am) they were still closed and the sign clearly stated they were open at 9am! I peeked through the door only to make eye contact with the cook and then quickly ignored. I left really upset because im not from the area so this was r re ally upsetting fo egg me because I went out of my way to come here for their veggie burrito. I frequently stop here during lunch for Mexican food. They have good Vegetarian burrito for $5 and that's what I usually get. It has sour cream, cheese, lettuce, rice, pico de gallo and beans.. You also have a choice to customize your burrito. Their cheese quesadilla and wet burrito isnt that bad either. The staff people are friendly as well and speak perfect English. I always get a torta, burrito, or the flatas. they're all delicious. the services are so nice except for one waiter who draws on her eyebrows, she is so unprofessional and rude. Our church used Chile Relleno to cater an evening event for about 150 people. The people loved the diversity of tacos and the accompanying toppings. It was a very nice break for the two congregations who usually have "potluck" type food events. The staff was great! Their set up was quick and very functional. And the greatest of all was that their staff boxed up all the left-overs and left their area spic and span! I had to write this review because all the 1star comments below me are false ,obviously uninformed and following that one person with a bad story. I been here plenty of times and the homeless they are talking about is Rebecca she has her moments some days she's fine some days she's drunk or to drugged. I've seen her push ppl for not giving her money she's dangerous and ppl stopped coming because of her. She always comes in the restaurant and insults the customers. She was probably a great person at one point :/ my point is I've seen them feed her a long time ago n she has done damage to the restaurant and assaulted one of the employees so I just have to say there is two sides of the story. I bet half of the ppl writing the homeless review haven't even been to this restaurant. Everyone in the area knows who n how she is. read more

I've lived in Carson for almost 4 years and up until recently, I had not noticed Chile Relleno. I came across it on here and I'm so glad that I did! I had a carne asada sope and a chicken gordita.
