I felt all kinds of nervous when I first started the search for a dress but mostly I felt a premature exhaustion already taking over: I really, really loathe the process of trying on multiple things and hoping with bated breath that whatever I try on next just happens to be it. I had done the minimal amount of research (really just looking up places like Pronovias, BHLDN, Kleinfield's) and then closing all the browser tabs because the white, off-white, lace, mermaid tail, backless, halter top combinations got to be too much. So imagine the shock when a random ad popped up on my Instagram feed and showed THE dress. And it was definitely within my budget range. This was the wedding dress equivalent of a Manhattan apartment with an elevator and an in-unit washer/dryer. Plus a wine fridge. The process actually leading up to me trying on the dress was such a breeze. You sign up for an appointment via the website (though keep in mind, you only get one 1-hour appointment and if you want to come back to try in person, you have to sign up for the waitlist), fill out some basic questions about what you're looking for, and then a stylist pings you to go over some logistics. You can bring as many people as you want but the waiting room for the Jay St. location was pretty small, so I wouldn't bring along more than 4-5 people max. After which, you can try on as many as you want within an hour. I had my eyes and heart set on one dress in particular and it actually turned out to be just as wondrous in person so ... that was pretty much it for me. And you get a 10% discount if you buy right then and there, which, for dresses that are in the $1,000-2,000 range, is nothing to sneeze at. I will just note that their dress range is a bit smaller than, say, Kleinfield's or Pronovias, and, if you're very, very open to what you might like, I would put Floravere as maybe your fourth or fifth stop. But, if you're nearing the end or you're decisive and overly impatient like me, I wholeheartedly recommend Floravere as the first place you go to try on things in-person. I wanted something super simple and classic, with clean lines and minimal lace/puffiness, to go with the beach wedding theme, and a lot of the dresses I was seeing online were beautiful definitely, but not right for the situation and not in line with my own personal style. When so much of the wedding process is fraught with uncertainties and information overload and the constant feeling of looking over your shoulder and seeing what someone else is doing, Floravere was definitely a bright spot. The experience is very modern and exactly right for a generation of brides at home shopping online (and trying things on at home and mailing them back) and seeking strong great design and transparent vendors with which to put a wedding together. I also stopped by a trunk show after I ordered a dress just to check it out, and that was a great experience, too. I wore the A. Hall with the scoop neck and chapel train. Charlotte did an amazing job of explaining the concept and company, specifically why the dresses are less expensive than other dresses of similar style and quality (no middle man, praise!), and made the entire experience fun for my friends and I, complete with champagne. This was my first time going to a bridal fitting. I was definitely nervous as doing anything new and not really knowing what to expect can be nerve racking. As soon as we stepped into the store in Tribeca, my two friends and I were immediately impressed with the aesthetic and felt comfortable within minutes. Everyone on staff was a joy to be around. I really wanted to like Floravere because their dresses look beautiful online. I love how the H. Golightly and D. Prince look online, but what happened to them in person? They felt poorly constructed and just didn't look as luxe as they do on the website. Maybe it is only because their samples seem to have been heavily used. For example, the light pleating on the Golightly top had a lump in it. Also, every dress I tried on smelled strongly of armpit sweat. I'm sure samples and ordered dresses are different, but I don't think it's my imagination's job to provide an accurate estimate of what an ordered dress would look like. I went to the NYC "showroom," and I don't think they had the A. Earhart, which the website says is in every showroom. Maybe it was just unrecognizable in person? I say "showroom" because it is literally a hotel room. I would go into the bedroom to change, and my stylist would watch me change, braless and all. I guess it's okay, but I found it awkward. In retrospect, I could have asked her to wait outside until I was ready to be zipped up, but it seems like that's the default of how things are done with Floravere. I feel like the stylist did not have access to as good tools for pinning as my stylist at Karen Willis Holmes had. My Floravere stylist had just clips to hold the dress in the back, and they just didn't really do the job. Bless her heart, at one point, she hid behind me, pulling the back of the dress together tighter for me to take a photo. My stylist was definitely very nice and was the best part of the experience. She even let me borrow her shoes at one point since they were lower heels than the available Floravere ones. I could get over the slight lack of professionalism of meeting in a hotel room if they actually put the savings from that into providing high-quality dresses at a lower cost than usual, but it doesn't seem like they do that--or at least, I can't tell if they do since they also skimp on cleaning and taking care of their samples. Floravere was at the tail end of my dress search, and I already had 2 major finalists from well known, high end designers in my mind when I had my appointment here. Up until this point, I was not enjoying dress shopping the way my friends had. I really thought I had as much of a bridal moment as I was going to in those other dresses, but never got that "no question this is THE DRESS" feeling in either of them. I attributed this to my somewhat lackadaisical attitude towards wedding planning in general...until I came to Floravere. There was no stress or pressure to buy a dress and they truly help you find your right fit. I found Floravere on Instagram and was blown away by the modern selection of dresses at palatable prices. I was lucky enough to get an appt at their NYC pop-up location in a fancy suite at the Mondrian hotel. My consultant Lay was there for me all the way. I found my dream wedding dress at Floravere! This was the fourth dress appt I'd been on - had checked out BHLDN on the UES (a crowded experience with dingy sample gowns) and some more upscale boutiques where everything turned out to be pricier than I was comfortable with. I saved Floravere for last, which was great since their selection is smaller and by that point I knew what I was looking for. I'd been very effectively targeted with Instagram ads and fell in love with the Lovelace dress, but wasn't sure how it would look in person since it was very hard to find photos other than the very stylized ones on their website. Good news - it was everything I dreamed and more! The whole experience was lovely... it felt like my family and I were the only people in the shop, and Stephanie treated us like royalty. It helped that Floravere had gotten in touch the week before with a phone call to get a sense of what I was looking for and preview the experience, so she already had all the dresses I wanted to try pulled. I didn't feel rushed at all, and Stephanie had great advice. My appointment went over a fair amount since I was making the final decision, but Stephanie gave me plenty of time to chat with family and think it over. The 10% discount for buying right then doesn't hurt, too! All in all, a wonderful experience. I definitely recommend Floravere - and the Lovelace gown! I am not the kind of bride who enjoys attention or making expensive choices... I hated the whole dress trial process and had tried 2 other options before I went to Floravere. The odd thing was, I had seen the dresses from Floravere online (before I went to the other trials) and had fallen in love with one of the designs BUT I wanted to make sure I was making the right choice. Well the right choice would have been to START at Floravere. All the other places had dresses that seemed so... traditional, princess-y, old fashioned and fussy. I wanted something sleek, simple but unique, modern and comfortable. My friends accompanied me to my appointment with Charlotte and we really had a great time. I was still awkward about the whole situation but we had some champagne, were in a private suite and really felt comfortable in the end. Charlotte helped me through several options, starting and ending with the dress that had caught my eye ages ago. She was so honest and open with me - telling me to trust my gut but to feel the freedom to test things out. I had the absolute best experiences here. The consultant who worked with me was friendly and listened to what I was looking for. She made me feel very comfortable getting changed into dresses which can be an overwhelming experience. Everyone was so kind and welcoming and they had so many dresses I could Actually try on as a plus size bride that is an incredibly rare experience. No one tied a small dress to me with ribbons and told me to imagine what it would look like. I really didn't expect to have "that moment" but I put on this one dress and after so many uncomfortable unflattering dresses at other shops I looked at myself in it and I felt beautiful. I started to cry. And I knew this is how I wanted him to see me. I brought my mom back a few weeks later and tried it on again. And bought it, and a veil and headpiece. I've since returned and ordered a custom belt. I love that the company is run by woman. Ships directly to you and makes the dresses in the US. I can't recommend this shop enough. I fell in love with the C Mulligan gown online, but was worried about fabric and construction quality of a new company. I was thrilled to score an appointment at their DC pop-up. I was the last appointment of the weekend, which meant that there was no one after me and the stylists were gracious and patient when the appointment stretched on and on so that I could re-try and make a relaxed decision (as opposed to being rushed at the end of a more traditional appointment). I loved all of the dresses I tried on, but I kept coming back to THE Dress -- and Charlotte and Denise were so patient and supportive. My husband's review of the dress: "The dress was a showstopper. It was a major hit and looked beautiful." Floravere dresses bring together classic, modern, edgy, and fresh all in one dress/jumpsuit. They use styles and materials that are almost impossible to find at traditional bridal stores, and even harder to find at affordable prices. The cuts and fabrics are flattering and their stylists truly care (and will promptly respond to your panic-stricken email about alterations issues to help calm you down). I made an appointment for an in-person bridal appointment at the NYC pop-up. It was uniquely located in a nice hotel room and I was greeted by a friendly consultant and Denise (co-founder of the company!). Because of the location of the pop-up and space of the hotel room, it was definitely an intimate experience -- which was unique and cozy compared to your traditional bridal salon. I was able to try on all the dresses that I had previously noted I was interested in after viewing the website, plus more! All of the dresses were beautiful and well-made. I do have to note that I did feel slightly pressured to walk away with a dress...which left things on a little bit of a sour note for me. I'm lucky enough to live in NYC, where I was able to book an in-person appointment with a stylist in midtown. Booking online was easy enough, and the text communication was even better; I received professional and helpful texts from Charlotte leading up to my appointment to confirm and also to update me on a cancellation and a convenient time switch. It felt very 2018 for a bridal shopping experience before I even walked through the door, and I loved that. I met Charlotte in a beautiful, modern, and cozy hotel suite and right away, she was up to date on what I wanted in my dream wedding dress, and asked important questions that helped her understand what I felt was right for me, including my body type, my preferred style, and about my venue. From my appointment application, she already had the dresses I was interested in trying on lined up and ready to go, and I thought she was extremely knowledgeable of each dress' fit, style, materials, and unique "wow" factors. I already knew exactly which Floravere dress I especially had my eye on, as well as a couple of alternatives in case it didn't work out, and I never felt pressured into a particular dress, a sale, or another otherwise. Charlotte was an absolute pro in fitting me into a sample gown! In regards to the dress I ended up falling in love with, Charlotte had a sample gown in size 12 and while I'm a size 2-4, she made the 12 look like a perfect fit on my body after all the clippings and adjustments. My sister-in-law, niece, and I could not have been more impressed!! The first dress I tried on ended up being The One for me, however I will absolutely vouch that I was -almost- torn between that one and a couple other styles; Floravere has a stunning selection of a variety of dresses that were all so comfortable to wear and honestly flattering in their own way. I really didn't know what to expect when they said they do things differently, but BOY do they, and BOY it is so much better than all the rest!! First off, the space is gorgeous, comfortable, bright and welcoming. AND you have the whole place to yourself (the only other client I saw was the bride who's appointment started after mine). Stephanie was amazing in every way. Personable, fun, honest and seemed to instantly "get" my taste. She pulled things I would have never pulled for myself, but that I did really love. I had an amazing experience with Floravere! I must say, I loved the concept when I found out about it. I loved the idea that I was able to try on these gorgeous dresses from the comfort of my own home. Personally, I wasn't always super comfortable during dress fittings. I sometimes felt like I couldn't be completely honest. Or just not enough time to decide. And this was a great solution. They have a nice range of dresses to try on. I was able to pick out my top 4. What I enjoyed was I was able to pick several silhouettes I've never tried on before too! Soon after my purchase, I was connected with Gemma, my stylist, I believe through an email as well as through text. She was very attentive and I never felt lost in the process. One thing I really appreciated was that I had a request to have the dresses sent on a specific weekend, as my mom was going to be in town. Initially, the dresses had to be sent on separate weekends, but Gemma eventually made it happen! As a result, I got to share a truly special homestyle dress fitting experience with my family. I was very excited to go to Floravere and try on dresses, my wedding coordinator recommended it. I made an appointment online through the website, seamless process, very easy. A day before my scheduled appointment I received a confirmation text. Great feature, rather than calling or email to confirm the appointment- however the time in the text (1:15pm) was different than what I originally selected and received in email (3:15pm). I responded to the text asking again for confirmation of times. A few friends were going to skip out of work early to be at the 3:15 appointment but wouldn't be able to make it if the appointment was in fact at 1:15. The text response said there must have been a mix-up in time zones, and it was 1:15pm EST. I did originally book the appointment in eastern time, but I guess the text message confirmer is not based in EST. I made arrangements (work schedule, rearranged meetings, shared the bad news with friends about the earlier time) to be there at the shop at 1:15pm. Upon arriving, the person at the flower shop welcomed me in but seemed surprised that I was there. She told me to have a seat and then she made a call, and told me they were right around the corner. I said, sure no problem. Stephanie came in and introduced herself, she seemed very nice, but said that she had me listed at 3:15 that afternoon. I was a bit stunned and explained the text confirmation conversation. She apologized profusely and said she couldn't help me until 3:15 because she had an appointment at 2pm. Sadly, I walked out and thought forget it, there was already too much work to switch everything around on my end. I wasn't going to wait around 2 hours to get back in. My "wedding dress shopping buzz" totally squashed. What was supposed to be a really fun afternoon ended up being a total let-down. Hopefully everyone else has a better experience, but beware of the scheduling!! It was the very first place I had planned to go wedding dress shopping so I did not know what to expect when I went. From the moment I walked in I was so relieved because it was just us and the beautiful gowns. I had researched a little before I went but was not sure what kind of gown I wanted. I loved that my stylist asked about my wedding vision first, and what I already had planned. From there she was able to guide me into a type of dress that could fit that vision. I ended up buying the very first dress I tried on. From the moment I tried it on it made me feel like a bride. When we put the veil on too, it was over! They still got it in a month before the big day and it fit so perfectly that there were only a few minor items to be tailored. Floravere was the perfect experience for me. I had such a great experience at Floravere. Stephanie was an absolute dream. I loved the dresses when I saw them online but I had an even better time trying them on. The whole experience is incredible and it is so wonderful and helpful to be in a private space when you are trying on these dresses. I made an in-person appointment at the SF pop-up for late October, with a little fear since I'm trying to get married in January. Within days of scheduling my October appointment, I was contacted that they had a cancellation at the September pop-up. Music to my ears!! My sister-in-law and I went to the pop-up yesterday afternoon, located at a swanky hotel in SF. Sabrina was so sweet from the moment we arrived, pouring a celebratory glass of champagne and made me feel totally at ease with the process. She had my favorite gowns lined up and even set aside a few others she thought I might like. Wouldn't you know, the dress I had been eyeing online was first up. And after trying on others just to be sure, it ended up being the winner. I SAID YES TO THE DRESS and it is absolutely stunning and everything I didn't know I wanted in a wedding gown. My appointment with Floravere was a really great experience. For brides who dread/feel bogged down by the entire wedding dress shopping process, Floravere is without a doubt the place for you. The entire appointment and process was seamless and Stephanie was SO wonderful. I can't say enough about how great she was and how easy she made the process for me. Floravere's Park Avenue S location in NYC is pristine and felt like a luxurious private suite, which was a ways away from the generic bridal shops I visited prior. I went to the Floravere in DC and had the best experience. It was personal and relaxed. The dresses were even more beautiful in person than they looked in pictures online. My stylist Meghan was flexible (willing to miss lunch to help us when we showed up late because of traffic), authentically engaged in the experience, and incredibly knowledgeable about the dresses and any alterations that may be needed. It felt like she genuinely wanted to help me. I did not feel rushed, pressured, or overwhelmed in any way, which is how I felt in some other places. Working with the stylists at Floravere to find my gown was seriously the best experience I could have asked for. I tried on in person at their Manhattan showroom and cannot say enough about how positive and welcoming the environment was (which was honestly the opposite of the appointment I had that morning at another salon in Manhattan). Being able to try on gown after gown at Floravere that actually fit me correctly was truly a luxury that I didn't know would even have to exist, and I will truly never take for granted the body positivity and realness of both stylists with me that day.
