I've been coming to Flor De Cafe since I was a kid. It's only more recently that I've witnessed the horrors of this place. Don't get me wrong, their pastries are okay but their service is something else entirely. The workers are just plain rude and never seem happy at all. It seems like smiling is a crime in this place. Their cold personalities just bring you down; actually the entire atmosphere brings you down. Pretty negative cafe! I went to order a cake for my mother's birthday and everything went fine. A few days later I went to pick it up and the lady at the register tried to over charge me. The amount was already paid and all she just had to do was check the receipt. But she was talking to another coworker in Armenian and wanted to charge me more! I wouldn't have paid for it if she went through with it. I would have just left it there. (I wish I did because the cake wasn't that good anyway.) She automatically assumed I didn't understand what they were saying. That was extremely rude. Regardless if the customer can or cannot understand Armenian you should just speak ENGLISH! After that I was just fed up and never went back again. Do yourself a favor and don't go here. I've been coming to this bakery for years. Pastries are always fresh and amazing. My recent favorite has to be the freshly baked Ishkhan cake which is offered exclusively here. This is a review about the service. I won't even bother with the pastries because at this point I don't even care if they are the greatest things I've ever eaten, because I've never been treated so rudely before at an establishment. In the two times I've come here I've had workers rudely make comments about me in a language they assumed I didn't understand. It was clear that in the almost empty shop, I struggled for assistance while the people who looked/spoke Armenian like the rest of the staff were being helped. The first time this happened I was with a family member who complained to management out of frustration because we heard a worker say something about us. He blew us off saying "I'll fire her" while rolling his eyes. The only reason I revisited was because years had passed since the first incident, but my hopes of a better staff were not met. Clearly a racist establishment. I can go to almost any other Armenian bakery and not have to deal with such absurd service. read more

I came in to order some desserts for my party and pick up some treats. I spent 30 minutes waiting to be helped to place my order. They seemed to over look me over all their Armenian customers. I ordered creme puffs, fruit tarts, eclairs and fresh berry tarts. I waited another 15 minutes to pay for my order. I understand they were busy but that was ridiculous. The desserts were delicious but I ordered 3 days prior to pick up at 7:30am on a Sunday but when I got there the day of they told me I'd have to wait another ten minutes. What????? Unfortunately I was already strapped for time since it took them 10 minutes to get my order so they gave me what they had in their fridge from the previous day. I ordered 24 creme puffs but was only able to get 17. I got my money back for the other 7 but I wish they had my order ready on time. When the employees do finally help you, they're courteous. So today I walked in to the bakery. It was not busy so I thought it'd be a quick stop. There was three ladies "working" one of them was helping a gentlemen. The other two were sipping coffee and chatting away (I thought on their break). When I walked in they all saw me but only the busy one greeted me but the other two knew I was there standing waiting as they chatted and sipped. After awhile a older Armenian woman walked and the ladies snapped and cheerfully greeted and helped her (still ignoring ME as I was waiting) I didn't say anything. My mom insisted on coming here for years because they are they only place that makes Salvadorian sweet bread in Glendale. With the new owners taking over we always got bad service but we continued to be loyal customers until recently. I have NEVER EVER felt so discriminated in my life. We ordered a baby shower cake and wanted to just pick it up but continued to be ignored. The staff spoke amongst themselves while my mom and I waited to be helped. (We were the only ones in line) Then a man of their same race came and stood next to us so they came to help not us but him!!!! I then questioned why she didn't want to help us and she ignored me!!! So I sarcastically started laughing while she continued to not even look at me like I was beneath her. Finally another girl came to apologize. I don't have much of a sweet tooth, but damn this place is good! My uncle always brings a box of sweets for my parents from here when he visits them. We went by here after lunch, just to pick up a few things for them and because my girl wanted to check it out. The only bad thing about this place was that the girl working the register looked mean as hell......and definitely doesn't enjoy her job. The fruit here is HUGE!! most things are almost 20% bigger than what you'll see at Safeway or Albertson's. We ended up getting some pastries and eating some at the house (the rest I've gotta drop off for my mom). I'll tell u this.....their Eclaire is THE BEST i've ever had, hands down, and they make them small, so that keeps me from eating too much. The little Napoleon cakes are good to. I've had better, but this is pretty high up there. Other things I tried were the cream puff and one other cake......cream puff is the best one I've had so far (I haven't tried Satura Cakes' famous cream puffs yet though). I give this place four stars only for the Salvi sweet bread or as I call it, pan dulce. Well its weird because the place is called Flor De Cafe, you walk in and its all 99% Armenian pastries, which I honestly don't care for, but there is this small section just as soon as you walk in from the parking that has pan dulce. Some of the best I promise...sometimes you can't even find this good bread at a Salvadorian place. There is a Salvi lady that makes this bread, but when she is sick or on vacation there is no bread there, so go check it out. Oh by the way the Mango juice they sell there is good too!! I usually come here for the baklava. Wow! They have a great selection and the prices are very reasonable compared to other baklava shops. The rest of the goodies are great too and cheap as well. The baklava is good quality and most of the time not crazy heavy on the syrup. So they last a few days at home, don't get soggy. As for the customer service I haven't had issues. This afternoon I came to Yeznik's to purchase lavash like I have for the many years I've shopped at this establishment. Of the two employees, only one was actually working at the register. There was a 20 minute stand in a slow moving line with absolutely NO consideration or regard to the patrons waiting! When I finally was able to voice my upset feeling with the female employee manning the register, she verbatim said "I don't care". I have been buying baked goods here for almost twenty years and am extremely disappointed with the poorly provided customer service at this place! I called the manager and WILL not be coming back here again. I advise the same for you unless you enjoy being given rude attitude after standing in an un-air conditioned place for almost half an hour! read more

So i ordered a b-day cake for my friend's birthday the week of 11/9/18. The day of the pick up the guy brought out the cake and there was no happy bday written on it and the decorations on the edges of the cake were all messed up. Horrible customer service. I preordered and when I went to pickup my order was not done. The worker gave me a BS excuse that the machine was broken. I was told it would be ready in an hour. It took two hours to get ready. Someone named Mike who I was told was in charge did not even bother to come to the front to apologize or try to explain to me for not having my order ready. This was a big order for my Uncle's memorial service. I had to wait for them to bake the pastries. If not, I would have got my deposit back and left. Never going back here. I've been coming to flor de cafe (Yeznik bakery) for as long as I can remember. Ever since I was a little, my dad and I would always come here. We'd always get all of our pastries, cakes, bread, and mixed nuts from here. I remember Yeznik, the founder of the bakery, would always be at the front greeting customers and giving away yummy goodies and samples. Such a sweet sweet man! He was so friendly. The mikado cake is AMAZING!!!!!! I can still taste it. After I moved further away, I didn't go as often. But I visited recently to get my favorite mikado cake and picked up a few of the potato and meant boregs and wow!!!! I fell in love with this bakery over again! I love boregs and they have hands down the best around. I have the most fond memories here. I have gone back several times now and I am so glad they aremy go-to bakery!! Most bakeries I called around couldn't do it since they had "wait list" "or simply "not enough time ". When I called Flor De Cafe they were very nice over the phone and listened to what I wanted and what I need to achieve in short amount of time. I ordered a strawberry cake for a size of 30 people. I told them the time and they said they will make it happen. When I went to pick my order they went out of their way to make sure the cake was exactly what I wanted.
