Booked a ticket on 1/1/19 for travel on 1/18/19. Received a notice a few days later that the ticket had been cancelled for "operational reasons". I never received a refund until I called a few days later to try to rebook or get a refund. Despite the fact that Flixbus canceled the trip, they refused to refund the service fee that was part of the ticket price. Overall, an unethical company for not initially refunding my ticket when they cancelled my ticket and then only refunding a portion of the price after I reached out to them. read more

Paid more for the seat than I did my ticket (!) Great, except that when I boarded the driver said I could sit anywhere but the 1st row, as that was reserved for drivers. Initially I thought he was being funny as technically the driver is in the most front position but when I showed him my ticket, with the reserved seat 1C, he just repeated himself. I paid extra for a seat that would allow me to see outside the front window -the front row- and now I'm writing a review instead of enjoying what little view I can see from the middle of the bus. The driver said that he doesn't work for Flixbus and that Flixbus knows that "drivers get the first row" hence the seat should never have been sold to me. No wonder their prices are cheap. I expect their customer service will not even see this review. read more

They cancel your ride at the last minute without notifying you, and only issue a partial refund for your round trip

Flixbus has a lot to learn about customer service. I've ridden a few times out of necessity but they have some of the worst customer service. Whether it's the rude and angry drivers that operate their buses (frequently late and always an attitude), the horrible condition of their interiors (trash on the floor, broken lights, power outlets and wifi rarely working), the disgusting germ-mill they call a bathroom, or the fact that their booking App is flawed.... do yourself a favor and look for other options! THEIR app screwed up and booked the wrong bus so I had to cancel it and change the date, but they would no longer accept the voucher that I was given and used to book my trip. THEIR mistake but I got screwed. I wrote an email to them clearly explaining why it was their app, not my fault... and they sent me a boiler-plate 'fuck you' reply. Twice. I'd used them 5 times in a month... a good customer. But no longer... I can't stand dishonest companies. There are several competitors... use them. read more

Departing bus - overbooked roster so I ended up in a maxi-van with no wifi, uncomfortable seats. Return bus - emailed less than an hour in advance of departure time that pickup was at a different location. Got to new location within original departure time but learned 20 minutes later that the bus had picked up there earlier and gone. Nowhere in their email was there a re-stated departure time. Talked to help line and sent email but haven't heard that a refund will be in order. Even a budget bus service should have basic customer service. read more

I took this bus two weeks ago from Oakland to L.A. It was AWFUL! It picked us up one hour late. There was trash everywhere. There were two drivers that switched shifts. The second driver was very rude. They sold more tickets than they had seats. There were two seats with no leg room, they forced people to sit there and when we got to a stop and they tried to switch seats the driver would say "No musical chairs. Go back to your seat." They left some people at stops and we arrived two hours late. Overall a nightmare. I have taken both Megabus and Bolt Bus (they stopped service in CA) both are much much better than Flixbus. My first and last ride with this company. read more

Reserved seats. Someone was in when we got on the bus. Social elitè liberal won't move. Bus driver didn't care. Said find a seat. Rude. Ended up getting split up from my wife. Sat in back by dirty, smelly bathroom. Half way bus stop was a dump. This was the Det to Chi route. MegaBus is wày classier. Also, the trip started late. read more

My friend and I booked a ticket from la to vegas. The trip should be at 9am but in the morning they cancelled it and rebooked at 330pm. Bus arrived at 4pm. Wile travelling ac didnt work for 3 hours leaving us with really hot sauna feeling. Not recommended if you have plans after as this company tends to cancel and high probability of at least 30minutes of being late. The seats were not comfortable as you are close to each other. Even if bus left late, it arrived on expected time. Will try to find another bus if possible read more

In short: even if you prefer sacrificing a little comfort for a lower price like I do, this bus service is just not worth it because of their incompetence and poor customer service -- use another bus service like Megabus (or BoltBus, if they come back) instead. The extra cost of Greyhound might also be worth it to get a bus that will actually arrive and take you to your destination. I drove my dad to catch a Flixbus bus. Since Flixbus has no signage and instead relies on ambiguous location descriptions, it was difficult to find the stop, but we felt better once we found a group of people also waiting for the same bus. However, the bus never showed up (the bus stop had recently changed and the bus driver apparently only went to the old stop), leaving 14 people without transportation. Rather than resolve the issue, Flixbus asked everyone to spend their own time and money to get to a different stop half an hour away. Rather than take that chance, I drove my dad back home and we opted to take the same bus the next day. Incredibly, the next day, the bus stopped in the wrong location AGAIN (this clarifies just how little the company cares about stranding 14 people), this time leaving 4 people stranded. Customer service once again said that everyone could find their own way to a different bus stop. This time, my dad went ahead and made his way to the other bus stop, which did eventually arrive. Not only did this company make a process that should have been simple into a multi-day fiasco, but customer service in Kosovo provided nothing to make up for their failure to arrive at the designated stop two days in a row, at one point even suggesting that maybe the "universe" willed it to be this way. A reputable company would have offered at least partial refunds or vouchers for such egregious repeated failures. Not to mention that the most logical progression through the automated phone system results in an automated message telling you that you can find whatever you want online and promptly hanging up. Or the fact that the automated phone system requires you to listen to nearly-1-minute-long automated message every time you call. Or the suspiciously number of dropped calls after describing the issue to each customer service representative. Riding on this bus means supporting a company that does not care about providing you the service they promise, and does not care about making things right when they make mistakes. read more

Don't do it! I wish I'd checked Yelp first, but my college age son booked his own ride from Santa Barbara to San Francisco. The ride up was fine but on the ride back, the bus got a flat tire which caused some other damage to the bus. The short story is that the passengers were left on the side of the freeway for six hours, which doubled the driving time. During that time, the passengers were given essentially no information and no apologies or explanations after. The "customer service" agent was clearly some poor guy overseas who couldn't tell us anything except that he was sure Flixbus would not leave our child on the side of the freeway all night. No one ever answered the "live" chat. read more

I am providing a review because of the amazing help I received from Roni Alvandi, Amir Zahir and everyone else involved in the party. I left a luggage at the bottom of one of the vehicles after completing my trip from San Francisco to Sacramento. I had A LOT of things in my luggage and was really stressed that I would never see my items again. I left to Atlanta unfortunately without my things and when I returned I was still worried but had hope that I would retrieve my bag. I contacted Roni and CC'd a few other representative in an email in one last desperate attempt to get my bag back and to my surprise Roni replied later that same day and told me to wait 3 business. Next day he emailed me saying the bag was retrieved and was waiting at a limo location in Sacramento and then directed me to Amir who helped me get my bag back with all of my things inside. This all happened 2 weeks after I left the bag on the bus as well.... So I was really excited to get my bag back and I am still very grateful. My only complaint comes from the lost and found process. When I Called an hour or so after arriving to Sacramento to speak to a representative to help and they didn't provide me with any responses that would provide clarity. The second lady I spoke to said, "the lost and found location doesn't have a location." What does this even mean? When I asked what steps the bus driver had to take after retrieving lost luggage the answer just wasn't good or helpful which is interesting because when Roni helped me it seem pretty quick and simple where as on the phone I felt I wasn't being helped provided with the correct answers. Also when I completed the lost and found form online I received an email saying that items are found that matched my description I will be notified and If not, I would be emailed two weeks from the departure date informing me that they were unable to find my luggage. Well....... I after emailing Roni and discovering my bag was safe I received that email from them basically saying they were unable to find my luggage and that they were sorry. I thought that was very very weird, things don't seem to be properly handling with the lost and found system. I shouldn't have to reach out to managers higher up and/or in different cities to help me find answers, I think that process needs to be improved other than that, I love Flixbus. I have used Flixbus for transportation in multiple countries and I'm SO happy they now provide their services her in America, I highly recommend! read more

This company made me miss Christmas with my family. Their driver was rude and took me somewhere completely different. After having fine experiences in the past with Flixbus, I will never use them again. This past weekend I had a trip from West Oakland to Reno. When the bus arrived at the bus stop we learned that the bus that had arrived was not going to Reno but only going to Sacramento and that the Reno bus was delayed 2 hours. The bus driver then said to myself and a few of the other passengers that she would take us to Reno anyway. I thought this was a miracle and gladly got on the bus...only to be told in Sacramento that this was her last stop, everyone had to get off and that she made no such promise. I really would have preferred to stay where I was in Oakland so that at least I could have stayed with my friend. So myself and a few other passengers were stranded in Sacramento. I waited under a freeway overpass for over two hours for the original delayed bus to come. When a bus finally came to unload other passengers, this new bus driver rudely told everyone he wasn't going anywhere and that the only place the bus was going was to take himself home. At this point I called customer service and asked if a bus was coming at all. She claimed she did not know and had no idea where the Reno bus is. I asked why no one had gotten this notification and she tried to make it my fault by saying I did not provide my phone number with the reservation. Flixbus, you have my email, and you have an "up to date" app which should reflect this type of news. Flixbus placed myself and other passengers in a dangerous situation and acted like we were a disgusting nuisance to them, when we're their customers. They also claim to not know anything about where their buses are. The most she could give me was a refund and then asked if "there's anything else she could do". You could send a bus to come get your stranded customers but that clearly wasn't important to this company. I had to wait until the following morning, making accommodations for myself and missing work the following day, to try and get a bus ride in the afternoon, so had to pay a lot more than I had anticipated. I saw one of the original passengers who had traveled from West Oakland with me the night before and she stated that she had tried to get the 7am bus that morning, but surprise surprise no bus ever came. The afternoon bus came 40 minutes late, but still came, so I was grateful for the nightmare to be over. When it came none of the outlets or wifi worked this time, but this seemed like such a small issue compared to what I had gone through already. It still isn't what they advertise. The bottom line is that Flixbus does not give a care in the world if they strand you somewhere, so if you decide to pay for their services hope that they aren't having any issues because they will make it your problem and take no responsibility. Reading other reviews I see that I'm not the only one who has had a Flixbus nightmare. I am saddened and embarrassed that I recommended them to friends and family in the past. Now people close to me are aware of the issues and will take other modes of transportation. Frankly I'm disgusted by the ethics of this company and will pay more elsewhere for companies who care about their customers' safety and satisfaction. read more

Terrible, We arrived 15 mins prior recommended plus additional 15 mins before departure time. We we're early... and standing there with 4 other riders and the bus never showed after waiting a full hour after departure time hoping the bus was just late..?.. We called customer service and was disconnected 2x before talking with a representative. The representative told us the bus was there and you/we all missed it. We requested a refund and that was denied!!! We requested a refund for our return trip and was giving a voucher instead and no refund. Very disappointing indeed. This trip was important. Also the loss of time, monies and a huge inconvenience with drop off and pick up arrangements. If I could give Flixbus a ZERO STAR RATING I WOULD. Thanks for taking our money and leaving us stranded! read more

The worst of the worst. They cancelled a bus without giving any previous announcement that this would happen. I stood waiting for 35min and called customer service to find out the bus was cancelled as I was the only passenger taking the bus (?!). And the customer rep was just incredibly rude. I was mad of course so I asked for a replacement bus ticket that would leave ASAP as I did not want to delay further and he not only denied, said I would have to either take a refund or wait 10 more hours for the next bus, and denied to get me on a bus from another company that leaves asap because that costs them money. And continue to talk over me and tried to deny any options, when I asked for a supervisor, the reason he gave me is "no one else besides him in the office speaks English". (Lol?!) will never deal with this company again. read more

Their Community Manager, Daniel H is the best! I forgot part of my luggage in one of their busses so I filled the form they have on their website for the Lost & Found department and they said they would let me know in the next 14 days if they find my belongings. During that period of time and after the deadline I tried to call several times and nobody could help me, they always said the same: "your claim still in process, there's no way for me to check, they will let you know by email when they find it". So I was really frustrated and decided to try massaging them in their Twitter account. The guy who responded was very kind and really helpful. Less than a week after I contacted him I got my belongings back. The ride was very cool, on time and the bus was very comfortable but I definitely give them 5 stars thanks to the CM. read more

i ordered a ticket for 88$ going to visit family for the holidays. our transfer was an hour and 30 mins. Keep in mind it's pouring raining outside btw and our transfer bust driver just drops us outside this Starbucks in Houston in the rain. it was about 4:45am so This Starbucks isnt. even. open. yet. so definitely a big wtf are we gonna do now but sit and chill in the rain huddled and terrified in the dark of the early winter morning on the steps of freaking Starbucks!! So we are sitting outside getting rained on. not just me. A dozen others! finally the starbucks opens and everyone gets to charge their phone. Get warm/ recover from the cluster of a fuck that was etc. We are checking the Flixapp for any updates and seeing if there any delays or any news of the bus at all. On the FlixApp it says "on time". with that comforting little green dot that makes you feel everything is gonna be ok ya know? like that little green dot above your friends on Facebook to show they are online. more time goes by and it still says green. everything is ok. or so we thought. Come 7:34am. everyone that is soaking wet in this Starbucks get a collective notification/email saying our trip WAS CANCELLED. Better yet with no explanation!! I mean wtf!! No one can contact customer service except through email! And none e-mail us back fast enoug. Everyone is at this point going through different stages of, panic, rage, like this Starbucks just turns into a whole nightmare of what are we going to do. I'm telling you at the very least it was a dozen of us but I know there were more. the story has a somewhat happy ending though. See me and this one other couple, who I had befriended amidst the chaos of everyone losing their minds, came up with an idea. See we both were going to Dallas... Two busses pulled into a parking lot across the street (not even a flix bus or bus that we paid for or expected at all) just two busses with a different company. we find out one is going to Ft.Worth and one to Austin. (where, and I hope you are reading this Dan Cummins, I'm really sad I missed your show) Long story short admits the chaos of everyone trying to get out of the cold and rain we were able to slip our luggage in the bottom area and walk on into the bus (going To FT. Worth cause it was the closest city to Dallas out of the two) and snag a seat without even having to pay a ticket. We slipped right past the driver and into some seats in the back as Dozens of others bombarded her with their questions. AS I TYPE THIS. I am currently in the new bus onto FT.Worth so I had enough time for typing a wall of text to you. Have a good one! read more

Do not trust -- I don't even want to call it a company, it is a scam. This isn't transportation, this is theft. And if you do decide to trust them anyway, mentally prepare to be hung up on by customer service when you ask for a refund for the bus that never showed up. I have ridden all the buses over the years to travel and visit home: Greyhound, Megabus, Tufesa -- I decided to give Flixbus a try because I found a "bus stop" half a mile from my house. I bought a round trip ticket and followed the directions on their website to where the bus stop was located. I waited next to the FlixBus sign having arrived 35 minutes early to ensure I wouldn't miss it. When the bus never came I called customer service. An employee answered, asked for my booking #, said "Hold on one moment." and then hung up on me. I called again, the same employee answered acting like it was our first time speaking again, asking for my booking # again and name. He then said the bus had already left. I said that can't be, I've been here waiting this whole time and it never came. He said "Sorry, I can't help you." and refused to give me a refund. He blamed me and said I was waiting at the wrong bus stop when I literally was waiting at the address posted on their website. This isn't transportation, this is theft. Do not trust this company. You will pay for a bus that will never show up. Then call customer service to ask for a refund and they will refuse, blame you for it, and then hang up on you. Then you will go home and talk to customer service on the virtual chat, and the same thing will happen, they will end the chat instead of solving anything. I don't even know how they are still in business. read more

So, so bad! I would NEVER travel with this company again. We left Oakland at 7:10PM(1 hour and 10 minutes late), and finally arrived in Reno at 4:00AM. No that is not a typo...4AM!! Did I mention that at 10:00PM, just before Tahoe, the bus driver told us we would have to turn around and go back to Sacramento to get chains. Why in the world would a travel bus not be equipped with chains when going into the mountains? This is mind boggling to me! We ended up having to get on another bus, and I should note that there was no snow to be seen...anywhere. In addition, the bus driver was so rude and unprofessional. Greyhound from now on! read more

I do not recommend using this service if you are buying a trip that requires a connection or wait for another bus. I booked a trip to Santa Barbara from San Francisco and I had a connection at Burbank. I got picked up in SF and dropped off at Burbank at around 4 am. Keep in mind that this bus has NO designated place to wait with chairs or even a roof. You are just standing in the middle of the street waiting for the next bus to pick you up. My pick up from Burbank to Santa Barbara was supposed to come at 6:50, when I first got dropped off I found the nearest Starbucks to go wait at. Since again, I was not gonna stand in middle of the street in the dark and cold at 4 am. I leave starbucks to be back at the stop at 6:35, since they two you to be there 15 minutes earlier. It was 6:45 and there was no bus on sight. I call the customer service center and they tell me that the bus is going to be 30 minutes late. It's 6:50 by that time already, the bus was already supposed to be there, I asked them why they didn't say anything before hand and waited until I called or for the time to hit 6:50 to inform me the bus as going to be late. All they said is that they were going to send me a notification right then. WHY ? Why would I need a notification now when I already called, they should of sent that from the moment they knew the bus was going to be late. On the app there is also an option where it tells you like oh see where your bus is at, it was not working. Trust I wouldn't have left the coziness and warmth of the Starbucks I was in to come to the stop if I knew the bus was coming late. So unprofessional and disorganized. I really, STRONGLY recommend staying away from this line. Greyhound might be sketch but at least they put a roof over your head in wait times. read more

Needed to travel between Sacramento & Oakland & was tired of making the drive in my car. I found FlixBus. The buses are nice "Charter style", clean & comfortable. Trip one way was quoted as about 1 hour 20 mins & only 10.00. They advertise WiFi and itas promised on the way there, but not on the way back to Sacramento, that was frustrating. It was about 20 mins late for pick up on way back, and no notification. I've added stars- when a company listens to their customers & hears what they say, then cares enough to make it right----that's a company I want to stick with & recommend. We have raised 6 children & one thing that we impressed upon them, Everyone makes mistakes, but be the one that owns it and tries to make it right with heart! I've been doing the San Francisco to Sacramento and vice versa route multiple times in the last 3 months. Wifi is NOT available on all buses, and this has been the case for at least 80% of the buses I've been on. I've also noticed that the buses without wifi don't have status updates, so I can't see how far the bus is from the pickup spot, which is important since they tend to arrive late. I don't use the wifi each time, but I don't like false advertising. Other than that, it's a relatively cheap way to travel. read more

Unreliable!! If I could give zero stars I would! My daughter arrived at the La Jolla stop 25 minutes before schedule d bus. Two Flixbuses came by and she checked with her scan code to be sure they weren't her bus. She waited half hour and called dispatch. They rudely told her she missed it. How can that be? She was 25 minutes early! She had to call an Uber to take her to a safe place that late at night and make other arrangements for transportation. I was a bit weary about taking my first FlixBus trip from SF to San Diego after reading the reviews. Happy to report, zero issues on my trip! Hopefully this will help pull up their 1 1/2 star review. I must say when there was a problem with the bus after it stopped in LA, they got a new bus there surprisingly fast! The customers were the ones who were rude next: people were frantically pushing to get out and move their luggage to the next bus and get a seat. Maybe this is because there was no organization to the instructions about how this was to be carried out. Still people.. My two comments are 1) I prefer my experience on megabus on the way down (this was my return trip) because at least they have hand sanitizer in the bathroom! 2) please remind your drivers to follow a safe distance. In SF, the traffic often goes slower and it's not acceptable to speed up as freeway traffic is slowing down. I believe for cars it's one car length for each 10 mph? And busses take LONGER to stop than cars. I'd rather get there alive; we were already late. read more

I arrived to the mall 45mins early as the ticket said to be there 15mins before departure at minimum or risk forfeiting your ticket. What a joke. The directions given to me via email didn't not allow for all the CONSTRUCTION going on at the mall. I drove around for 60 mins and called FLIX bus a total of at least 20 times and have proof on my phone - it kept saying No one can answer your all and you're being placed in a que - I continued to call all day and night (have proof) and still NO RESPONSE. Had someone answered the call they might have gotten me to the pick up spot since I was there 60 mins earlier. My next bus I was to meet was 2 hrs away by car - I had to have the person that took me to the mall DRIVE me to catch the other flix bus and I am calling flix bus the whole time he is driving me - once again I have proof and human witness! I finally boarded 2nd bus, unfriendly FlixBus operator was so rude he made my trip unbearable. He even said on the speaker NO one can do number 2 in bathroom on bus only number 1 because he don't like the smell. Finally I arrived back to San Jose at 9pm, and I was CALLING FLIX BUS most of the time for my 6 hrs ride home. They were hours late and they weren't updating the riders of when the bus would arrive.

Well I wanted to give Flixbus a chance as they are new to California and its good to have some competition with MegaBus, Bolt bus, Greyhound, etc. I booked a ticket a week before my trip in early August since they have a stop in Fremont for some routes. Well surprise surprise when I get a text 24 hours before that the bus is cancelled (I'm assuming due to low ridership). They rebook me for the one the next day but guess what, get another text that one is canceled only 4 hours before. So far service seems very unreliable. I called customer service to see my options and after being put on hold for an hour I talked to someone in Europe that can't help me as its early Saturday morning in Europe even though its just the early evening Friday in California and they can't give me options for the same day. In the end I booked another trip but out of east San Jose to get to LA but it was a lot less convinient. Once on the bus it went okay (only 1/3 full, newer seats, power outlets, so-so but ok wifi limited to 300mb total) So will I give them another chance?
