I had originally discovered this company years ago and formed a outstanding relationship with the owner, Gordon. I drove over there the other day because I definitely wanted to give Gordon's cause a donation. Gordon does this thing which is called "Guitars for our Troops". He sends out Guitar's to people in the military that are at war, want to learn how to play guitar or some even have PTSD and finding a way thru music helps calm the nerves and chases out some of those demons. Gordon ended up buying his own building and moved to this larger place a couple years ago. As I visit often, I just love to go in and talk to Gordon and see all the instruments although I play none. I went the other day and was very happy to see JP who sometimes works out of there, he does private guitar lessons and was my daughters first and only guitar instructor. Gordon is working towards turning this amazing building into an instrument Museum, I know he will get it done. Our family had decided to donate our old Victrola that has been in the family for years.

Banjo selection has got to be the best in the state, and they still have a good selection of other instruments as well. If you ask nicely, they'll let you test drive some absolute beauts! Also very helpful with set ups, accessories, and just generally talking to you about what you're looking for without judginess. (Which bears mentioning because some music stores can feel very cliquey and/or gate keepy.) We're honestly pretty lucky to still have a place like this. Go support it so we keep it!

The results? My Strat has never sounded or played as great as it currently does, I can't put it down! This Luthier went above and beyond and even added shielding and special wrap to the pcb to minimize noise; this thing has a thousand different sounds! By word of mouth, after trying several local repairmen, I got wind of "Shon" at Sound Town. He combed over the amp tooth and nail, and finally solved the problem for me, a problem that turned out to be not so much a broken component (my guess) as operator error, a change-over from an active to passive guitar, and the need for a suitable pre-amp to boost the signal . It took a lot of testing and reading of manuals and schematics, before Sean figured out what was going on. He went so far as to compare my sound-levels with those of other amps in the stores and he was quite patient and thorough in every regard. I made several trips to the store, and became acquainted with three key people there, all of whom were very nice, and I got a feeling for their special niche in the music world, which is the supplying of sound systems and various components, whether for rentals-out or for purchase. They keep a fair supply of guitar needs and are happy to order anything you might want at a fair price. Though Guitar Center and places like Kolacny's and Flesher-Hinton all have their place, I'll always begin by shopping here because of their patience and kindness. It is a special kind of store with special kind of people, and it always feels good to be patronizing a locally owned business of modest proportions. Bravo!

I had my clarinet worked on here because my tenon corks became deteriorated. When I got my…read moreclarinet back after repairing the corks a few weeks later, the left-side b key no longer played. I have a fancy Buffet R13 clarinet and their professional clarinetist played it for me and testified to me that it plays great... so when the clarinet stopped functioning after the cork repair, I know exactly what happened and why. Nevertheless this shop was very pissy about taking care of the problem for me and made me pay to have the problem fixed. So I decided okay, I don't give a damn about the money, just fix my instrument. So then after I got the instrument back, the B key is working normally again and the C key on the left-side no longer seals properly. I didn't notice this in the shop when I tried it out because I was just focused on the left-side B key. What a comedy of f@@@ing errors. This store is a disaster. And I regret ever having walked in the door in the first place.
