Super nice guy that works there..possibly owner? Went to look for vinyls and he was helpful and things were priced great. He seemed to have some regulars that came in and were friendly too. We were looking for certain vinyls and he had us text him which ones and said he'd keep his eyes out and text us if he found them. He let us spread out and look through all the records and didn't rush us. Hard to find though. No big sign. He is in same strip mall and directly across from cakes by Karen. read more

Wonderful, very fast work on my guitar. It sounds much better after he set it up, adjusted the neck, and polished the frets.

I don't like leaving bad reviews, but this feels necessary... This dude completely flaked on my daughter's Christmas present (a guitar). Moreover, he was so rude about it. Not cool. read more

Chris did an amazing job! I brought my 2001 Ibanez JS100 into his shop. It had fret buzz and scratchy knobs. This guitar has a Floyd Rose Tremolo system and it was beyond my skill level to set up. Not for Chris. He was able to revive my love for this guitar. Chris even followed up with me days after to see if I was happy with his work. I really appreciated that and I will drop off my acoustic with fret buzz for repair/setup. I recommend Chris. He seems to truly love guitars and it shows by the way he took care of my guitar and talked about it with love. read more

I'm struggling to find a way to describe this place. The vibe reminds me of a tiny record shop I used to love frequenting as a kid, a musical instrument store where all the clerks were seasoned musicians and a stereo store I also used to frequent so I could browse the latest stereo amplifiers, speakers and turntables. From what I can tell this place doesn't sell speakers, turntables and stereo amplifiers, though I did see many around the place, some taken apart (waiting repair?) My point is there is just something musically indescribable about this place that makes me want to hang out here. Chris, the owner, had music playing on an 8-track player for background music, was chatting with a guy at the counter but was available for questions and in general just made the place and us feel relaxed and welcomed. No pressure, browse until your heart's content, there are lots to look at, beautiful guitars, guitar strings, cables and cords, guitar amps, used CDs and vinyl albums, 8 track tapes and cassettes. And if you don't see what you want, Chris will find a way to get it for you, maybe even a turntable or stereo? I'll just have to find out next time I go back! read more

See all

Chris is a pro and a nice person. I have brought in multiple guitars for work and only had issues where a pot went bad on me at practice after a new set of pickups was installed. Chris found the trouble and fixed it and now that is my #1 ax. Just got a turntable as well so will be digging through his album collection soon. read more

My wife called this place for a electric guitar to be re-stringed and was quoted $20.00 dollars, I took the guitar in and it needed a wammy bar, so he said $48.00 dollars, we go in to pick up the guitar and it only had 2 new strings, no wammy bar, but he still charged me $48.00 dollars and said to order one on Amazon myself, I said why am I still being charged $48.00 dollars? He states he would order one and 3 weeks later still nothing. My son is learning the guitar and this guy is busy ripping off customers. Not a good look. And we will definitely not recommend this spaceman guitar place! ZERO STARS. read more

I took my Telecaster and my Gretsch in to Chris for a setup, and he did an amazing job. I told him how I wanted each guitar set up and he delivered big time. I thought my guitars sounded good before, but I feel like he gave me back two completely different guitars -- they both play like a dream now! I couldn't recommend Chris more highly -- he's knowledgeable, kind, and extremely skilled at what he does. Glad I found him, because I'll be returning every time my guitars need a tune-up! read more

Chris is fantastic, I've been going to see him since he was at Rockley's. Always makes me feel taken care of, he's worked on every instrument I have, from set-ups, to installing pick ups or working on amps. You won't regret meeting him and getting work done. He has a fantastic vinyl collection too, go in and browse or just talk about gear. He's great for it all. read more

I called in advance to see what the price of a simple set up would be and was told $55 STRINGS INCLUDED. When I went to pickup it was ~$70.. when I asked why he said it was bc he added the price of the strings.... Please be honest about your pricing. Especially when someone calls in advance to confirm. read more

Wow! Chris, the owner, has 30 years' experience working on guitars. I took in a 40 year-old Gibson steel string that was nearly unplayable (strings too far above the fretboard)--gift from a friend who hadn't played in years--and four hours later it was ready. Chris filed down the bridge, adjusted the truss rod, oiled the neck, and put new strings on, and it plays easily and beautifully--all for much less than $100. The job was done quickly, competently, and affordably--so unusual to do all three. Impressive. read more

I came in here to hunt through the vinyl they sell. This is a good selection here and the management is laid back. I had a few good finds and broke my budget and still need to go back and hunt some more. They have a lot of Jazz, country and rock. It is reasonably priced for a vinyl shop that doesn't specialize in vinyl. I also looked around at the instruments for sale and they seem to have a great selection. I would encourage people to come in and check this place out. I will be going back often... read more

Originally I called here to see if they would like to take some guitar accessory donations. Chris, the owner, was really friendly on the phone and I stopped in. Short story, short, we ended up doing a trade and he repaired one of my husband's guitars for a very modest cost minus the trade of the accessories. The guitar work was lightening fast and my husband is really pleased with the sound now. Excellent customer service and Chris is the one to go to for guitar related anything. read more

Nice owner, great service. I'll definitely come here again if I need work on my guitars.

This is the only business I will take my ukuleles for any repairs or adjustments. Chris is an absolute master for string instrument problems or working with you to make sure the instrument is set up perfectly for you. Spaceman Guitars also sell stringed instruments, amplifiers, accessories and many accessories. They have a vast selection of vinyl records in stock with a wide range of genres. There is a sense of family here, Chris remembers your name quickly and knows your individual preferences. The prices here are very reasonable and any repair work is much less than you would pay elsewhere, with the added confidence that the issue will be handled perfectly. You can find fancier, you can find places with more inventory but you will be hard pressed to find more competence anywhere. read more

Before today, I hadn't been into Rockley since Spaceman moved into their new spot in the building and I love the new digs for Chris. He is my go to guy for guitar repairs, none being too big or small from what I've brought in. He has a quick turn around and great pricing. Not only is Chris an excellent luthier but he is also a certified shredder! I trust his opinions on everything guitar and happy to be one of his customers. Thanks Chris! read more

Chris is honest and trustworthy. I love that there is never pressure to buy something. My daughter's guitar teacher recommended Chris at Spaceman Guitars and he delivered great service! Chris fixed her acoustic guitar after another local music store did a mediocre job. He replaced the pegs in her acoustic guitar, restrung it and of course tuned it. He also cleaned up and restrung a 25 year old electric guitar that had just been given to her. He did all of this as an overnight fix as we were going out of town for Spring Break two days later. The guitars sound awesome and have inspired lots of practicing. Thank you Chris! read more

I am extremely glad I found this place through a friend's recommendation. If you're in the Lakewood area (Arvada, Denver, Littleton, etc.), go give Chris and his wife a visit at Spaceman Guitars! He's been in the business for 20+ years, and his expertise truly shows in his work. I'm also all about supporting local businesses, especially if they're not part of a chain. I moved to Colorado 2.5 years ago from California and I (irresponsibly) failed to get my guitars properly taken care of in this desert climate. I finally brought my electric, acoustic, and bass guitars in for a set up yesterday, and Chris got them all looking and sounding almost as good as the day I bought them new! The turnaround was also less than 24 hours! What's even better... his prices are more than reasonable. He charged me $50/guitar, as opposed to other stores charging $75-85 per guitar. A good friend of mine went to Chris and was charged $45 for his strat set up, which also turned out incredibly flawless. Again, this store is owned by just Chris and his wife. It's literally a mom and pop shop that I would encourage anybody to support. They are hardworking, honest folks. High quality work + extremely reasonable prices + awesome selection of new and used guitars & amps (especially the Gretsch selection)... why would you not support an honest business like theirs? He's got a new dedicated customer in me. Chris also apparently does amp repairs, so I'm looking forward to taking mine in some day. read more
