Great place with some guitars you may only see in pictures. A truly genuine shop that is authentic as it gets. They don't even try. The place really gets old timey on ya. Didn't catch the guys names that worked there, but dude with long hair, genuine and informative. Dude with glasses that cashed me out, again, genuine and informative . These guys definitely gave me info I was unaware of. It was a good experience for me . I even got to hear a comedian there doing accents and impersonations of NY folk. (At a guitar store? I know, quite the treat) Being from the area I can tell you, the comedy seemed kind of labored, but good effort. That particular counter help(and I mean that in the best possible way)has dreams. Absolutely fabulous place. Dropped off my Martin for some work. Picked up a Gibson J-200 for fun to check it out. Then two amazing musicians came in.... They Picked up a banjo and guitar..... played and sang bluegrass for the next 45 minutes... The shop has a terrific selection of instruments. The work area is in the back so don't be fooled into thinking this is a small shop. Great selection....HIGHLY RECOMMENDED !!!! read more

First time I went here, it was 10 minutes till closing and the male associate was locking up. I asked if it was too late to see the shop and was told he already closed the registers. SO we left. The second time I was looking at guitars and the male associate seemed disinterested in assisting or even talking about guitars. SO again, I left. I came in the early afternoon to see if I could get my old guitar restrung, and the lady working in the shop was really friendly and welcoming. I haven't picked up that old guitar in a long time, and she was really helpful getting the right strings and getting it fit in to get strung that day. They did a great job and have quite a nice selection of guitars and tons of other stringed instruments. I even put my name in to get some lessons. So, all in all, a great shop. read more

If you have a guitar, you MUST get it into the Glen in the back for a set up or a full restore. He will make it play MUCH better. I have a wide range of instruments, and he is a miracle worker. They don't have cellos, but what they do have is an assortment of old wooden guitars and lots of good shiny strings to go with them! The scenery reminds me of the old west with lots of wood, cow fabric and a very nice owner. You can find yourself spending an hour enjoying the craftsmanship of the instruments. They have an old piano in the corner and lots of photos of old legendary guitar folk singers and song writers. I loved the Atmosphere, as this pad shows quite the adventure!! read more

This is the best acoustic guitar store in Colorado. Kit (the owner)knows his stuff as well or better than anyone that I've met in any store in Colorado (and the dozen or so that I went to in LA too). He is a smart business person as well (watch out) and carries from the priciest high end custom built stuff to the entry level student models of guitars and mandos and most other stringed instruments. If he doesn't have the one you want, he'll find one for you. He has an enthusiam for music that carries over into his shop and everyone he meets. This is a great old school style shop that focuses mainly on acoustics but has some funky electric guitars as well and even some basses. They cover all price points. The atmosphere is friendly, relaxed and welcoming so even if you are one of those who are typically too intimidated to try out a guitar in a shop under the watchful eyes of the shredder next to you, you'll find yourself sitting down on one of the many chairs here and trying out some great guitars. This is really where the shop shines, they don't make you ask for most of the guitars and you can just grab a Martin, Guild or whatever off the wall and try it out. This place is great! There's not many good shops around that deal in acoustic instruments, and this may be the best one. Besides having a great selection of cool guitars (I think I need another), the staff is knowledgable and friendly. They also have a repair shop ran by competent people. But that's not the best thing... they offer lessons in the back of the shop from instructors who know their stuff! I only started playing a couple years ago and was lucky enough to have found out about this place from a musician guy that I sold a guitar to on Craigslist. From his recommendation, I took my guitar in for a setup. I could hear music being played in the back rooms near the repair shop. At the time, I wasn't exactly thrilled with the guy I was taking my first lessons from, so I asked the repair guy about it. He gave me a funny business card and the next week I started taking lessons from Marlo, who is a real pro (and a cool guy). I now feel as though I am progressing faster while learning correct technique and theory. read more

Lots of vintage instruments on consignment too. If guitar center is Kool aid this place is wine. They have a nice selection. I recently had a vacation planned for Vail CO and didn't want to travel with my Taylor Guitar. When we landed in Denver I called a shop that I found online and they had told me they don't rent guitars. They gave me this shop in Arvada and it was a gold mine of a find. Liz, the girl that worked there is just super good with customers. She set me up with a nice sounding acoustic guitar, extra set of strings, loaner tuner, and a gig bag for the car. I played that guitar every morning and it was awesome. When I brought it back the owner was there and he was equally as great. What a wonderful shop and I wish more cities could have such a great shoot. I highly recommend these guys. read more

I received a flyer from a friend about the third Tuesday of each month concert. The flyer states a "suggested donation of $15", however, upon arrival the door person insisted it was a ticket fee of $15. I was not planning on staying for the full concert as I was with my son, and would need to leave early. I cant express enough how rude the door person was, and Kit, who I believe is the owner was rude as well. The owner gave me some nonsense about ASCAP would tax them if they 'sold' tickets, and I explained the flyer said it was donation based. I believe all the music was original by the musicians. (Who were fantastic and have nothing to do with this review.) A requested donation is based on what you can afford, or believe what the value of the service is/was. I will be reporting them to the City of Arvada as this is not right. read more

I second the comment by Peter H on 9/18/19 who thought the shop was "owned by a moron." And, in the words of Douglas F., his employees are not only disinterested but poorly trained. All of this stems from a consignment sale that went terribly sideways, with a dispute over the %age to be paid upon the sale of my old guitar. Both the employee and the contract indicated they would take 15% consignment fee upon the sale. But, following the sale, I received check, without any explanation with a 25% consignment deduction. Following phone discussions with the owner about how the contract was misinterpreted , I suggested we split the difference, to which he agreed. But, of course, the check never arrived. So, when I returned to the store to collect the outstanding balance, the owner re-started his rationale as to why he shouldn't have to live up, not only to the terms of their own contract but to the verbal agreement we had made over the phone. No wonder this idiot and his store is barely hanging on by an E string. read more

If you are purchasing a guitar over the internet: 1. Ask for pictures of the guitar's interior. Especially the bridge plate. 2. Ask for closeup pictures of the bridge. 3. It is not disclosed, but you may have to pay the credit card transaction fee. 4. Make certain that it is understood, in an Email, that you can return the guitar for ANY reason. 4. They do not have Terms and Conditions on the their web page. Ask for the purchase terms and conditions in an Email. 5. Might have been a fluke but it took a call from me to get them to credit my credit card. That by the way was when I learned that I was repsonsible for the transaction fee, because my reson for returning the guitar was not to their liking. read more

I hate to give an instrument store a bad review but... my family and I went there the other day no hello's looking for anything special. Then we were looking in the guitar area and the lady working came in and turned out the lights. I said I guess we have to leave and she said well its about 6 ' oclock and we close at 6 but you can look out there but we are pretty much closed. I just think it was rude to turn the lights out on people whole they ate looking around. I wont be buying a ukulele from there! read more

Brought in a Martin for repair on a Thursday, also wanted to see about selling/ consigning some guitars from my father's estate. I was told that Kit was out of town until the following Monday; and to bring the guitars in then. Which I did, driving down from Nederland. The front door was wide open (literally), no one in the store. After about five minutes I went back to the repair shop, where the tech was speaking with a customer. He did not acknowledge my presence in any way. After a few minutes of being ignored, I went back out into the store and wandered around for a bit. I have to say, there are a lot of really nice guitars right by the front door. Just sayin'. Amazing they don't walk off by themselves. Anyway, about ten minutes later (the dog is very friendly, by the way) another gentleman came into the store and was standing up by the counter. I assumed he was another customer. After a bit, he went behind the counter, by the register, and was looking at his phone. Never acknowledged my presence either. Shortly, another business owner came in and they started discussing who was moving into a nearby vacant store. After five more minutes or so, I went back into the repair shop, waited for the tech to finish his conversation, picked up my Martin, and left. I don't mind waiting a few minutes, but I was there for twenty and no even as much as said hello. I can only surmise that for some reason I was completely invisible; there is no other reasonable explanation for why a customer was ignored so thoroughly for so long. If you are depending on your business to put food on your table, then you should have at least a minimal respect for your customers. Very unhappy; won't put my feet in there again. read more

I have been here a couple of times and never had a problem until this last visit. I had given my fretless bass to them for consignment last year. I called a couple of times to check up on the status and was told, rudely, that they would contact me when it was sold. I went in with a friend a couple of weeks ago and an employee had no idea if they sold it; they couldn't find the paperwork. Then he said to me on the sly, "No one does their job around here, the boss is a difficult person, and we've gotten several complaints." The owner came over to me and was snotty and said that they might have sold it. As soon as they found the paperwork, they said that it sold in October and mailed a check; but, they failed to call me. I had moved unexpectedly around that time. So, the owner said it was my fault that I didn't contact them. I don't know about you; but, when a business says they will contact you they do-especially if it's a larger sum of money involved. My experience with them was super unprofessional. Long story short, I do not recommend this place which is too bad because the luthier is great. read more
