I have been taking my son to Miss Maureen's music class since he was about 4 months old, and he is now almost 2.

The staff could not have been nicer. First person to help thought she should move up a size but got another employee with more experience to confirm. They helped her pick out just the right violin and case. They were low on their bow inventory due to the back to school time of year. We were told to come back at any time and swap out for any other bow if we like. Great service and knowledgeable staff

We rented my 4th grader's clarinet from Golden Music this school year for about $42 per month. When…read morewe were given a working hand-me-down clarinet from a friend, we returned the rental and asked Golden Music about having the other clarinet checked over. I was surprised to learn that Golden Music wanted $25 just to look at the instrument and tell me what repairs it might need. Even before a full evaluation, I was told it likely needed between $600 and $800 worth of work, but I would have to pay the $25 fee to find out exactly what was needed. I also asked what it would cost to purchase the rental clarinet we had been using and was quoted $587. At $42 per month, we had already paid approximately $378 in rental fees, so purchasing the instrument would have brought our total cost to nearly $1,000 for a student clarinet, even with the "buy it now" discount. I was also told that if we stopped renting over the summer, we would lose any credit toward purchasing the instrument, which felt unnecessarily pressure-filled. Something about the experience didn't sit right with me, so I decided to get a second opinion. I called around and took the clarinet to Flesher-Hinton Music in Wheat Ridge. They looked at it for free and told me that not all of the corks and pads needed to be replaced. Instead, they recommended a cleaning and replacing one cork joint, with a total estimate of $95. The difference between the two assessments was significant. Based on my experience, I strongly encourage parents to get a second opinion before agreeing to major repair work. Flesher-Hinton was knowledgeable, helpful, and transparent about what the instrument actually needed. I won't be returning to Golden Music and would not recommend them based on my experience.

Tim was a data base of information and extremely helpful for me who had little knowledge of brand and quality for an affordable yet high quality kit. I was sold on a 5pc pdp concept. Along the way he let me know ways I could upgrade the kit to really make this thing sound good. I sprung for zidjian a custom and have never been so happy about springing for extra money then right there fabulous kit. Since then I go to his store 2 times a month roughly to build onto my setup and each time Tim is very helpful and patient with me as I ask him questions. I highly recommend any musician head down here before your generic music store.

His ultimate goal was to get the Zildjian New Beats Carter Beauford rocks. Little did he know that when he walked into this shop, they would have not only 1, but 2 used sets available! He was very pleased to be able to trade some unneeded cymbals and hardware towards the purchase. The shop is jam packed with guitars, drums, and equipment. We found out this store has been here 60 years, with the second generation of the same family owning it. I'm not sure which of the Kae brothers--Jason or Tim--helped us, but it was a pleasure doing business with him.

My 2 year old especially loves the ball area and the food area. The story time was done by a music student who sang the books and had a wonderful voice. It was definitely not your average story time. I would recommend brining or wearing a bathing suit for the water exhibit if your kid gets really into it or for the water area outside. Lots of parking available for free on site. We did the membership for $170 for year for the family which seems like a great deal if you go more than a few times.

There are two glaring things though that make me hesitate to ever want to make a second trip. One is the cafe. I'm not expecting the bougie majesty like you get at the Monterey Bay Aquarium, but this is in Denver. I'd consider us a pretty cosmopoliton city & this being THE Children's Museum for CO (since it's in our capitol), it should have a proper quick service option. Cold food options, fine, but a microwave for hot options? So disappointing. I noticed a lot of space dedicated to private parties, etc. Can we not junk that in favor of a real sit down spot? The worst thing though was the behavior of the older children that make the museum unusable in certain areas. Seemed to specficially be the kids on field trips. My nearly 2 year old loves a ball so you can imagine his delight in discovering the "Kinetics!" area. Despite there being what seems like a ton of balls, a bunch of unruly older children have managed to hoard them to where even adults can't wrangle one measly ball for their kid to hold. Once my poor son managed to acquire one, he ran off to a quiet corner & refused to let me show him how the exhibit worked with the tubes, etc. because he was too concerned about the ball being taken from him. Well, he was right to be concerned as these selfish older children came over & tried to take the ball from him despite them hoarding the entire room's balls insisting that they need that one too. My husband's head nearly exploded. The Bloom room is really the only safe haven for any kid let alone the young ones but my son will age out soon and then what? He's 99 percentile so even though he's one, he's already the size of a four year old but he still gets run over in rooms that are supposed to be for "all ages." Once my son ages out of the Bloom room there really is no incentive for us to come back here as the experience is way too violent, overstimulating, & a bully's playground. Similar instances happened in the Bubble room & the Market as well with different gangs of field trippers. We came on what felt like a very average day crowd wise (Thurs 9-11:30AM) so I can't imagine how awful it would be on a busier day. Really a shame that poorly parented/chaperoned kids have to ruin the experience of so many other children as I've seen multiple other reviews complain about the same thing. I should have take them more seriously.
