Paid for 6 hotdogs and received only 4. The food we got was good but disappointing experience.

Delicious food! We grabbed some carry it tonight and everything was ready on time. Hot and fresh. Super friendly service too! We got a gyro, Italian beef, corn dog and cheese fries and everything was awesome! We'll definitely be back! Our pup approved the corn dog as well! Thanks so much!!

I visit Flips nearly every time I'm in the area - grew up in Glen Ellyn. They have great gyros, Italian beef, and dogs. Solid choice for good Chicago food. This place has been here forever and you can see why - great food and good value.

They're currently having a BOGO offer. Called in my order, when I got there the line was 7 deep. Stepped to the pickup window and they couldn't seem to find my order. Needed to get back in line to pay. Cashier made my shake and proceeded to wait for my order. After the numbers being called were after mine, I stepped back up. He had some of my order on the shelf? He nearly forgot about the cheese cup and the root beer. Once we got home noticed that he forgot a fries, after I went over the order twice! Was told ten minutes on the phone and ended up waiting 30 minutes. Staff don't work well under pressure and really didn't seem to care.

Maxed Out Gyro plenty for 2 people to share!

My quest to find the best gyros in the area continues... I was nearby and didn't have a ton of time and had never been so I stopped in for takeout. They have a nice size outdoor patio and plenty of seating inside. It's much like your typical beef stand anywhere in the Chicago area. order at the counter and they make it quickly while you wait. I was greeted immediately by the friendly cashier and perused the menu. They have a quite a lot of choices - Italian beef, hotdogs, burgers, sausage, gyros, subs, and salads, so you get more variety here than some other places. There are also a few specialty items on the menu - I loved that they had corresponding pictures and descriptions underneath to explain what each one was. I recommend coming in once or twice before you order to-go or for delivery. I settled on the 'maxed out gyros' which was an extra portion of meat plus an additional pita as I was bringing home to share with my kid. I also ordered a large fry, ($5!) but after studying the menu a little longer, I could've got a meal with a Drink for about the same price. Live and learn. It was a good portion of fries. I munched on them the whole way home and had plenty left over. I would say they are a cross between McDonald's and Portillo's style. They were hot and fresh. I believe they use Kronos gyros so they are high-quality, and there was plenty to share. We each made a fat sandwich and there was extra tzatziki in the box. Quality of the gyros was top notch, the tomatoes were bright, red and juicy, and the tzatziki was thick and delicious, I was out the door for $21 and we were both stuffed! If it were a little closer, this would definitely be in my regular rotation, but when I'm in the area, I am definitely going to stop in again and try out some other other fun creations! they have a "meat mountain" that I need to get to the bottom of....Definitely recommend...

First off, every single staff member is the friendliest person you'll ever meet! They care about how your day is going, what kind of food you're looking for, and make every stop so personable. Secondly, the shop itself just makes you feel right at home and comforted by the fact that you know you're getting local handmade food! There's a vast menu of pizza and subs that allows you to find something any day of the week that you are craving. Their grab and go selection is also top-notch! Lastly, I can't say enough incredible things about their food!! They have daily deals which make it so financially responsible to just eat there every single day. From half off pizzas to combo deals to 2 subs for $22, you can't go wrong with any choice you make. Your heart and belly will thank you! If you are in the area, or even if you aren't, this is the place to stop by!

I guess I need to roam around downtown Glen Ellyn more often... some friends and I gave it a try for lunch on a Friday. After stepping inside and taking one glance at the menu I knew it was going to be great. The menu has a ton of sandwich options, some pizzas, and a cooler with side salads and drinks. One bonus: they have little samples of the side salads, which is wonderful! The potato salad is incredible, by the way. Besides the menu being very easy to read, the staff is very friendly and willing to answer any questions you have. I went with The Viking sub, a potato salad, a bag of chips (Deep River, yum), and water (free and flavored with lemon!). It took just a minute or two for my sandwich to be made but the ambiance is chill and inviting. One small critique: they could clean up the "storage" feel to the place. We ate our meal al fresco, as those are the only tables they have, but it was enjoyable because the weather was nice. Most others grabbed and went. The food is outstanding! The sandwich was absolutely delicious and the toasted bread was perfection. Piled high with meat and toppings it is easily the best sandwich in the west suburbs. The Deep River chips are a great pairing, as always, and the potato salad was everything I was hoping for. In all the meal far exceeded expectations and I left full and happy. My friends were also equally impressed. If you can't already tell, I'm a fan... a BIG fan... of A&G's. The fact that it is right here in downtown GE... I'm in heaven and will be frequenting it often!

3.5 stars, but rounded up because I didn't feel they deserved any deduction…read more I was REALLY looking forward to their #20 Old New Yorker, which I got in their Navel Cut pastrami. It was a solid 7, which is why I place it at 3.5 stars. I may be being picky here but it just wasn't to the level of "melt-in-your-mouth" pastrami standards for me. Not to say it wasn't good, because it was perfectly fine. In fact, it's better than most of the pastrami sandwiches I tried in Chicagoland. Maybe it's the fact that I had to bring it back to the office to eat it, and half hour had gone by and pastrami weren't as warm and the Jewish rye had become soggy by the time I took the first bite. I mean, it goes without saying that the sandwich would have been 3 times better had I sat down immediately and had it. Again, all things considered, it was a perfectly good sandwich. One interesting thing was that I had never been to an establishment that included a half sour pickle instead of a normal one and gotta say, I was pleasantly surprised. Pickles can be a hit or a miss for me. I like my pickles to be crunch, but some places offer overripened ones that become borderline mushy. Schmaltz's half sour pickle was not overly salty or sour, making it very attractive for me. The more I'm thinking about it, I'm convinced that I'll have to go back and try their #14 Sloppy Paul, which is the corned beef with sauerkraut, which is another favorite of mine. And this time, I'll be sure to dine in and give another review of it to see how much I like them better.
