Disappointing experience. The eclair was stale and lacked flavor, and I had to ask three times just to get cream for my coffee.

My husband and I ordered a croquembouche and petits fours (mini fruit tarts) from Fleur de Cocoa for our wedding, and we couldn't be happier with our experience. My husband is half French, and Fleur de Cocoa is one of his favorite French bakeries. Once we learned they offered croquembouches, we almost immediately decided to have one instead of a traditional wedding cake. Aline was wonderful to work with throughout the entire process. She was warm, responsive, and incredibly thoughtful: from the tasting and dessert selection, to reminding us to make sure our venue had enough refrigerator space, explaining how to transport and serve the croquembouche, and personally delivering it on our wedding day. Her attention to detail made everything so much easier. The desserts were absolutely delicious. Our guests loved both the croquembouche and the fruit tarts. They disappeared so quickly that I didn't even get to try every flavor! We actually went back to the bakery a few days after the wedding just to buy more. Came on a whim since I was in the area for the first time and it did not disappoint! I haven't been to many French pâtisseries in the Bay Area before, so I definitely wanted to try one. Since they seem to advertise their hot chocolate a lot, I wanted to grab one to warm myself up. Once I got to the store, it was so cozy and inviting. There were so many different options for pastries and chocolates that it could give me crazy indecision. I ended up going with the hot chocolate and the croissant sandwich. Though I've had Fleur de Cocoa treats over the years either at a party or via Locale delivery, this was my first time actually stopping in to get a treat from the source, a crime - I know. I was absolutely blown away by the variety and sheer number of different items they had filling their cases. As a pastry and chocolate lover this was paradise, but also such a hard decision, I would've taken one of everything if I could've! We ended up getting a mini chocolate, cream cheese, and raspberry croissant, full sized raspberry pistachio almond croissant, and a Côte d'Ivoire dessert. Everything was pretty damn delicious, with the raspberry pistachio almond croissant being both mine and my mom's favorite. We also really liked the mini cream cheese croissants. The only thing we ordered that I wouldn't get again is the mini chocolate croissant, and that's just because I'd want a full sized one to get more chocolate, there wasn't quite enough to really enjoy it in the smaller size! The food is high quality, consistent and absolutely delicious with plenty of variety and flavors. I've been to Fleur de Cocoa more times than I can possibly count. It's the place we get most of our cakes for special occasions, as Fleur de Cocoa has a wide variety of mousse cakes on offer. My absolute favorite is their bouche de Noel at Christmastime. But for birthdays, we've taken to ordering 5 or 6 of the individual mousse cakes in different flavors and then sampling all of them. So fun! We've tried nearly all of them - the Red and Black, Emmeline, Satin, Exotic Kiss, Gourmandise, Eclipse, Seduction, and the Paris. There really is something for everyone - chocolate lovers and those who prefer fruit flavors instead. On weekends, we come for brunch and sit outside. I often have the salad Nicoise, while my husband goes with the chocolate croissants or pain au chocolat, which he says are very similar to what you'd get in France. The salad Nicoise is delicious - I always ask for avocado along with it. It's fresh, filling and fuels me for the day. Fleur de Cocoa also makes chocolates for special occasions, which I've had for Easter and for Christmas. Very high quality chocolate indeed, but beware that these products come at a premium. Overall, I'd absolutely recommend stopping by Fleur de Cocoa if you are in LG. Lots of yummy pastries, sweet treats, and brunch options. read more

A longtime establishment in the Los Gatos area, this place is a true classic when it comes to pastries and cakes! I picked up a pineapple chausson and a Tropical Rose individual size cake. Really loved the chausson which was loaded with pineapples and not too sweet overall. The Tropical Rose did taste great and was very creamy-coconutty but too sweet for my liking. I was recommended the Eclipse dessert, and even though I'm not a huge chocolate cake person, I love passion fruit, so I went for it! The Eclipse ($10.95) is a mix of passion fruit mousse, dark chocolate mousse, and chocolate sponge cake. The rich chocolate was perfectly balanced by the tangy passion fruit, making it both pretty and delicious! Definitely a unique and enjoyable dessert. This is a crazy story but 10 years ago I went to the Chef's bakery back when he was located in Palm Springs. Had the best croissants of my life. I recently went back to the Palm Spring's bakery. Unfortunately it is no longer run by him but his brother says the Chef recently opened Fleur De Cocoa in Los Gatos. A month later I'm in Los Gatos and ordering just about every dessert and pastry. They are so good! ROYAL: my favorite. There's a velvety smooth mousse layer and another layer of crunch. I don't know how he made the crunchy layer but it's all addicting! I came back the following day just to get this dessert again. CANELE: best candle of my life. I took a bite of the crunch exterior and soft gooey center. I went back to the bakery to order 3 more! CROISSANT: it's good, but not like how I remembered it in my mind from 10 years ago. FIFTH AVENUE: this one is for pistachio lovers!! I would order it again. Pistachio flavor everywhere in this lovely dessert. APRICOT PASTRY: I am for sure ordering this again when I come back. The custard layer was just the right amount and the pastry was perfect! I have been a customer since they first open in Los Gatos and I am wondering, if they change ownership as the quality went down significantly. I didn't try the pastries lately but I have a cup of hot chocolate every time I am in LG. It used to be thick and creamy and now its like any other hot chocolate made from powder. What happened? At least the whipped cream is still real. The service gone worse as well. Our order was served in a very unappealing way and not the way we have ordered it and when I asked to redo it, the young woman who was doing the drinks, showed a lot of attitude and made unappealing to come back to this place. As a French native, I was curious and hopeful when I visited Fleur de Cacao in Los Gatos with my two children. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing, especially considering the prices charged for what's offered. I ordered a pan bagnat, which in France is a traditional Niçoise sandwich made with round bread, olive oil, tomatoes, eggs, onions, cucumber, anchovies or tuna, olives, and basil. What I received was not a pan bagnat at all -- it was a regular baguette sandwich missing several key ingredients. No olives, no anchovies, no basil, no red onions -- and served with a few tomatoes and some lettuce (which doesn't even belong in a proper pan bagnat). In short: overpriced and inauthentic. My son ordered a croque-monsieur, which is traditionally made with de-crusted sandwich bread, cheese, ham, and sometimes béchamel. What we got was a single slice of basic bread with melted cheese and ham, crusts on, nothing more. $13 for this? Frankly, it felt like a joke. My daughter had a simple avocado toast -- one slice of bread, a bit of mashed avocado, some salad. That was $14. Outrageous. As for the desserts, $10+ for a small éclair or tart? That's well above even high-end French patisseries. I understand that imported ingredients and craftsmanship have a cost, but there needs to be a balance. This wasn't it. I'm giving 4 stars because I appreciate any attempt to bring French culinary culture to California -- and I want to support that effort. But this visit left a bad impression. I called in to get pricing information and to start the order. We ordered their signature Fleur de Cocoa cake (30 servings) and 60 Petit Fours. Being that I wasn't familiar with the bakery, the gentleman I spoke to (I believe his name was Max), was Super helpful in offering some guidance with selecting the Petit Fours. On the day of the event, the desserts were ready at the time specified, and were boxed up beautifully. When the cake and desserts were revealed, we were all left in awe!
