Stopped in at Mariette Chocolates in downtown Willow Glen this afternoon because I was craving dark chocolate. It had been a few years since I'd been there. They have a cute entrance with a couple outdoor tables and gentle music playing. Inside, I was greeted by one of the owners. When I told her I wasn't sure what I was looking for and wanted to browse, she said she was going to step away so she didn't crowd me. I really, really appreciated that. They have so many delicious offerings. Truffles, salted caramels, fudge, toffee, creams, nuts, fruits, and more. They also have pre-packaged boxes. And a little freezer with Marianne's ice cream! It was hard to decide. I ended up getting several pieces of dark chocolate almond clusters and a pistachio truffle. When I checked out, she gave me a complimentary piece of orange crème chocolate. The owners are so nice. Every time I've been in their shop the've been warm and friendly and helpful. I've eaten a couple of the almond clusters and they are excellent. The dark chocolate is a little bit sweet with no bitterness. Looking forward to trying the pistachio truffle. read more

This quaint chocolatier shop is a wonderful part of the Willow Glen community. I went in to get ideas for favors for my Mom's 90th birthday. I came here because I needed a sweet treat for a pick me up, and this place did the trick!! I ordered their custom set of six truffles & two smaller chocolates. I selected carrot cake, red velvet, creme brulee, funfetti, s'mores, cappuccino, and salted caramel + key lime for my two smaller pieces. It totaled to around $30, and when I asked for a rose water Turkish delight they threw it in for free!! These were super delicious. Even though the price tag is a bit on the higher side, these aren't your average See's Candies chocolates (no knock on See's). They're decadent and filling in every best possible way. The flavors are so unique & you get what you pay for (in a good way). The Turkish delights are also yummy, but my favorite is the original at this place. It allows the flavor of the sweet to shine a bit more in comparison to the pistachio or rose water, in my opinion. Just be careful bringing these back home when the temperature is high, you wouldn't want these to melt or smush against the top of the container like they did in my case!! read more

As I bid my co-workers in the San Jose office goodbye I asked for a recommendation for a chocolatier in the area that I could get to kind of quickly since I had a plan to catch. I had just come from San Francisco where I bought some local chocolates there but for a really steep price. The only thing I was really hoping for was a lower price point. I double backed- the location had a parking lot but it's easy to miss. The shop looks like a cute little storefront with a lot of bistro seating. The inside was just as cute, a pale blue color motif it felt like a spa for chocolates. A Tuesday in the early afternoon isn't a busy period so I had to wait a little while the woman behind the counter was wrapping up with another customer. It gave me time to look over their selection and I saw that not only do they have the flavored truffles they have giant sized ones as well. A few of them are super-sized versions of their regular truffles but they had some that were just their dinosaur egg sized treats. I walked out with a 9 piece of truffles along with a trio of the super sized truffles. One of the better selection of truffles I got this trip. read more

I never knew this cute little shop existed since to me it looks like it was tucked away with the entrance onto the right side of the building. The front is a window. That's very cute and gingerbread like but the smell of glorious sweet chocolate was drifting our way and my boyfriend and I walked inside! The lady inside was incredibly friendly and helpful when it came to knowing all of her chocolate mixes as well as different truffles and candies! Some of the chocolates were incredibly artistically designed and looked like they could be art pieces and not edible! I am always excited to try new chocolate shops and randomly stumbling upon Mariette Chocolates was no different. This cute little shop is a standalone store in the middle of downtown Willow Glen. The interior was very nicely decorated and the man working there was very friendly and funny. There were two other parties ahead of me and he was very attentive to everyone as they placed their orders. I picked 5 different pieces of dark chocolate to sample which came out to be a little over $11. The quality of the chocolates are very smooth and not too sweet. My favorite pieces were definitely the dark chocolate espresso and the dark chocolate hazelnut. They were both very unique and tasted unlike anything else I've tried before at other chocolate shops. Came here this past Wednesday w/ a goal in mind: purchase a box of chocolates for Gav's teacher. I walked out w/ chocolates for Gav, my best friend, and for myself. The last item I asked to purchase was an impulse buy: fudge. Both plain and walnut. I just couldn't help myself. A very small and sleek décor. It's inviting and the way the shop presented their array of chocolate delicacies, how can you not want to buy everything? The service was wonderful. I walked out of there pretty upset w/ myself for not stopping by much sooner. Glad they are surviving through the pandemic. I had both piece of the fudge: creamy and decadent. The one w/o the walnut was obv much smoother in texture. It melts in your mouth. The chocolate medallion took me back to my childhood. Though my family was never able to afford fancy chocolates, it brought me back to how happy I'd get every time my parents bought me candy (i.e. Crunch, Twix, Reese's, etc.). We were just strolling down Willow Glen to check out the Goombahs car show this past weekend, and stumbled across this cute little chocolate shop. We decided to try a couple pieces of chocolate, since I love chocolate, and the signage out front just called to me, lol. It's tiny inside, but great use of space, and the display case for the chocolate treats is just magnetic!! So many options, everything well stocked and presented nicely, different kinds of fruits and nuts in hardened chocolatey goodness, seemed like everything available with either milk chocolate or dark chocolate. And even a wide range of sugar-free chocolate candies to choose from. We ended up getting coconut, almond, mint, oreo cookie, and caramel (dark chocolate for each) just to try and share. The lady was so friendly, and she even threw in 2 seasalts for free (one milk chocolate and one dark chocolate). She was patient with us asking questions and exploring the items in the store (cuz there's lots more than just chocolate.. from signs to mugs, plenty of gift ideas for chocolate lovers). Some cool things the shop has... pecan chocolate clusters shaped like turtles, chocolate cream soda, cute little gift boxes and decorative signs. We enjoyed our treats in the outdoor seating right in front of the store. And it was as delectable as it looked... then again, it's hard to go wrong with chocolate. Found this place on yelp while searching for truffles. It had awesome reviews and located very conveniently in downtown Willow Glen. Stopped by and the person (owner?) who was there was super helpful and kind. Obviously had a lot of knowledge of the different types of chocolates. I purchased around 20pcs - bought a bunch of the peanut butter cups since those are my wife's favorites. Unfortunately they were all stale - every single one of them regardless of which flavor we tried. Just tasted really bad. Had really high hopes for this place but it really disappointed. Husband wanted to get me some local-made chocolate for Christmas (good man!), and he found Mariette on Yelp and went over a few weeks before Christmas. Unlike another local-owned chocolate shop he visited that weekend, Mariette allowed him to pick out a variety of chocolates for a custom box. He spent a little over $25 for 8 pieces - but 4 of those pieces were HUGE truffles. Two were their mint truffles and two were peppermint candy cane holiday truffles. I'll be honest with you - these are too big for me. The flavors were good, but they're massive and unwieldy. ;) I'd much rather have a smaller bite-sized piece. There were also two dark fresh mint euro truffles (they were ok, a bit more spearmint flavor than I like) and two peppermint creams (my favorite of the box). So why am I going four stars when I wasn't head over heels for this box? First, the customer service experience was good and my husband was able to get a box of all mint chocolates for me. Second, there wasn't anything absolutely awful about this box - it's just a bit of a pricey lesson to learn that I don't like the huge truffles! ;) Third, I love to support local-owned businesses and want to see them stay in business! Next time, I think we'd go for the caramels or the cream filled chocolates instead. :) read more

The chocolates are definitely worth the price. I'm a huge fan of dark chocolate and their dark chocolate is on the sweeter side. It's not a bad thing, I enjoyed it all the more. I bought 2 dark chocolate marshmallow caramel chews and were so yummy! Not as big as See's candies but the fact I'm supporting a small busy and I know these are carefully crafted- I would buy them again. I also purchased an almond bark and I've yet to consume it. The others I purchased but have not tried - dark chocolate peanut butter cup (good size, heard a "wow"), the birthday truffle - a milk chocolate truffle encased in white chocolate, sprinkles and a little jelly bean. My daughter loved it and was clapping her little hands. Great personal service since it's such a small and cute little shop. read more

This review is based solely on the iced mocha I had so this review may get updated if I try more things here. It's a cute little shop and the service was good. As for the iced mocha, it was OK. I was told to stir it because the chocolate was at the bottom. Considering they sell chocolates here, I would have thought the chocolate that was added to the mocha would have been great tasting, but it was not. I don't like something too sweet but the sweetness level in this drink was a tad bit too low for me. I'm not sure if I would come back here again. read more

This chocolate shop is so adorable! I pass by this store a lot and it's hard to ignore the bright blue building, so I had to stop by once I had a real reason to splurge on some sweets. When you first walk in, there is a glass display with all the types of treats they offer, from belgian chocolates to dry fruit/nuts, they also have their own Mariette truffles that go for about $2-3 a piece. I opted for the customized 11 piece box that came with 8 Mariette truffles and 3 specialty chocolates, total came to be about $45ish. Quite a hefty price for chocolates so I wouldn't personally get these for myself; however if it is for a special gift for someone I highly recommend trying this place out! From everything I've tried here, the quality is fit for the price, but I'm happy with some good ol Ghirardelli. read more

Big fan of this place. My girlfriend and I stopped by here for some desserts for Valentine's Day for the first time. Very cute, small shop allowing limited people in during COVID. The lady was very friendly to us and was helpful with any questions we had. We got 3 different chocolates each, and she gave us each a salted caramel to try which was awesome. I had the Jalapeño truffle, chocolate covered Oreo, and peanut butter cup. For 6 pieces it was around 22 dollars which is reasonable for the quality. Thank goodness we walked in so I could get semi chocolate wasted. ;) The owner of the place was kind enough to let us walk behind the display counter to take our food porn pics of all the chocolates with our DSLR camera. What a nice guy! The SBBF bought me three chocolates, here's what I had: 1. Amaretto: This one was definitely my fave out of the three! White chocolate on the outside was perfect! And the filling of amaretto was whipped so nicely. Creamy yum! 2. Dark Chocolate Sour Cherry: This one was just A-OK. Another amazing boutique in the WG downtown. Charmed! These guys make fresh yummy chocolate of all kinds and I must say they are all so good, it's hard to pick a favorite. I keep popping everytime I am running errands and getting my chocolate fix. They have a cute sitting area where you can sit down and indulge as well. Perfect spot for a quick bite after a date! Our daughter is a baby so at this time she loves staring at the chandelier here. The couple who run the store are super sweet and have a great sense of humor. Me and the kids just recently discovered this place and wow were we surprised! We've only tried a couple things so far but each item has been top notch. These guys really know what they are doing. My kids are fanatics for chocolate covered gummy bears and I have to say they make the best ones by far. The gummies aren't old and stale but soft and chewy. Milk Chocolate is creamy and not overly sweet. You can tell these things haven't been sitting in the shop for long. The second time we went we tried the mint chip ice cream sandwiches. And that was also amazing! The cookie wasn't hard but soft which made the texture so much more enjoyable cause you could really get the flavors of the cookie. The mint ice cream wasn't overly minty which my girls loved. And the chocolate chip bits were just the right size. Overall, well done ice cream sandwich from texture to flavor. My kids and I ranked it #1 of all the ice cream sandwiches we've tried and their super picky. The owner is also great to talk to and he's awesome with the kids. The shop is small but nicely laid out. We love going their to browse and try new things. Can't wait for our next visit! read more
