Every flavor we sampled was incredibly tasty! We ordered a small sized cup of Mixed Berries & a regular sized cup of Coffee Temptation & Chocoviar. The staffer who scooped our order meticulously shaped our gelato into generously portioned mounds & wiped the cup sides clean. They also came with a perfectly tempered dark chocolate piece placed in the top! She didn't rush providing quality though there was a small line. I stopped by the other day to pick up some chocolate bars. I finally got a chance to try them this weekend. Let me start by saying that this place is incredible hard to locate. They don't have a phone number listed to call for directions. None of the mall maps even list them. Their website doesn't give a phone number or list their location. You have plenty of options at VF, but Venchi holds a special place in my heart as it's not too heavy, not too sweet, and really has a flavor for everyone. My previous go-to was a certain store located outside known for unique flavors that rotate every month. Unfortunately, their flavors have gotten a bit too crazy for me, and are oftentimes so sweet that it's hard to finish a single portion without sharing. At Venchi, I can easily eat a regular size by myself and feel so satisfied after. One thing to know before you go is that you pay first before you sample, so you'll need to commit to how many flavors and what size you want before sampling. I highly recommend upgrading to the freshly made waffle cone. There's a lot of other options like adding chocolate and other toppings to your cone, but that's completely up to you. As for the sampling, the people working there are very patient and generous, and will let you sample to your heart's content! If you have specific preferences (like you prefer less sweet or maybe even more sweet), they're happy to share their recommendations as well. My go to is pistachio and cremino, which is like a more hazelnutty version of nutella (and also less sweet than nutella). PS - make sure to sign up for their rewards program! When I was walking in the mall I was enticed by a chocolate fountain straight out of a movie. The smells were delicious and I swore in the back they had like these little guys working in the back. Chocoviar is absolute favorite for anyone with nut allergies. Though it's dark chocolate, it is not bitter or overpowering. Texture is smooth as any other flavor in Venchi. Leaving a 1 star review because I went to buy a shake. Upon arrival i was told that there was no sampling until something is purchased. Ok. I purchased a shake. I was then limited to only 3 samples. There's always a line that moves relatively slowly, but it's forgivable because the staff is really focused on providing quality service to their customers. This place follows a reverse workflow. You pay first for what you want before "trying the ice cream and selecting the flavor you want." This really threw me off because without "trying" the flavors first, it was hard to make a decision blindly on how many flavors I wanted to get, let alone if I should get it in the cup vs. cone with additional chocolate dip with hazelnut or pistachio shavings on the cone rim, which doesn't go well with certain flavors. 1. Extra Virgin Olive oil Gelato (4/5) A seasonal flavor that combines Extra virgin olive oil with the classic Italian gelato fiordilatte (creamy milk flavor) base. It's creamy from the base, but you definitely get that subtle spice kick and herbal notes from the olive oil. Quite interesting! On its own, it is a bit bland. I think it pairs well with their waffle cone that's dipped in chocolate with the pistachio rim to give it extra flavor. 2. Parmigiano Reggiano Gelato (5/5) Say what?!? It sounds gross to have a cheese-flavored ice cream, but don't let the name deceive you. This has got to be one of my most favorite gelato/ice creams that I've had yet. This gelato also uses the fiordilatte (creamy milk flavor) base but infused with at savory notes of the Parmigiana reggiano cheese. There's literally shredded flakes of cheese intermixed within the gelato. Must try if it's available. I don't recommend adding more chocolate or toppings to it as it will detract from the flavor. Next to the gelato station, there's a whole section of chocolates that they sell. A variety of unique flavors ranging from white chocolate bars, milk chocolate, dark chocolate, hazelnut, Gianduja, and pistachio bars. They also have other types of chocolate forms ranging from -Chocoviar, cremino, gianduiotto, pearl, and Ingot. 1. Pistachio Cremino (4.5/5) Cremino is basically a 3-layered chocolate; pistachio white chocolate past in between 2 layers of milk chocolate. It's on the sweeter side, but the bits of pistachio inside balances it out while giving it additional pistachio richness. 2. Pistachio Gianduiotto (4.5/5) Gianduiotto means the chocolate is shaped resembling a small overturned boat. It's super creamy, sweet, yet slightly salted. It's more of a pasty white chocolate texture with the richness of pistachio flavoring. 3. Chocoviar Pistachio (5/5) If you are a Ferrero Rocher/hazelnut fan, you will like this one a lot. It's essentially a dark chocolate microsphere shell dipped in toffee crumbs and cocoa nibs. The inside is filled and contrasted with pistachio paste and whole pieces of pistachio. I'd been meaning to try Venchi since a friend from the UK recommended it. We went on a weekday afternoon and luckily, the line was short. Still, the wait felt a bit long due to the care taken with each order. I tried the olive oil and caramel rosemary gelato. The olive oil was subtle and not too sweet, while the caramel rosemary was much sweeter, with the rosemary flavor overpowering the palate. My friend had the tiramisu and really liked it, subtle and not too sweet. The gelato certainly feels high quality. I might go back to try simpler flavors like pistachio, but I'm not sure it's worth the trip if the line's long. read more
