Wow I love this shoe store. At 61 years old and a brand new runner, Jennifer helped me every step of the way. She had me step in a machine that sized and told a story about my feet. She listened to my story so she could get a feel for what I needed. I tried on a lot of shoes, She watched me run to see any variations. We finally decided on a shoe that was not in the store. We ordered them on Friday they came today the very next Monday. I got a call from them today saying that they came in. I drove down tried them on, she watched me run again. I instantly knew I was home. They were perfect. She set me up with running sock and electrolytes. Now I am one happy camper. Going to enter my very first run a 10 K. I dealt with Fleet Feet Redding, Ca. over the years, purchasing running shoes, walking shoes, and sandals. My last shoes were size 12EE, and I didn't fit correctly. My last two purchases were 08/27 and 09/24/2024. I returned and showed these shoes were not the right size by bringing two other brands to show the difference. I was asked to stand on this machine, which measured feet in length exactly. 10.5 and 10.7. Trying on the same shoe, which ended up being 12EEEE, which fit. I asked if this would cost me, and she said no. I was called up 2 weeks later, and the shoes had arrived, but the wrong shoe was ordered. Another pair was ordered, and 12EEEE came, and it was explained that I now had to pay. I responded with I'm done. read more

The shoes they carry are top notch. Love supporting local businesses. But the reason for a low rating is the woman who helped us was very pushy. Didn't listen to what we were saying about how the shoes fit. We went in with specific shoes in mind, however, Christina had her own opinion on what we NEEDED. With no consideration for what we WANTED. I kept trying to advocate for who I was in the store with to try on a different size, bc she felt it was two big, however Christina kept PUSHING that she need the extra toe room for running and we weren't using these shoes for running, we could have said that a 100 times and she still would not listen. The attitude and overall experience was not great, I could not pick shoes and get out of the store fast enough. Honestly this is probably why a lot of people buy online and return if it doesn't fit, just to avoid overly pushing sales people. If you go in, I would try to get help from the male owner he seemed to be very helpful and not pushy with an older woman that was getting fitted while we were there. I initially went in here be a I was having bad heel pain. At first it went very well. I was impressed with their 3-D mapping they had. The shoes they picked were very comfortable. I had decided to go with the insoles as well. I didn't realize when I was trying on the the store versus going home that they take the factory insoles out and put the new one in. When I tried them on in store they just put it on top of the other one. They felt very different than when I got home. Thankfully, they have a very nice return policy that if you don't like it even if you've been wearing them, you can return them so I came back the next day because the size I had was in my opinion way too big. I normally wear a nine tonight and a half and they sold me a 10 1/2 and I would pay attention to that in the story probably Would've never bought them and went home with them. The reason I'm giving such a poor rating is because when I went in the next day to exchange them out for a smaller size or possibly a different shoes, they kept pressuring me say they were the right fit, even though I kept repeating myself that they were very uncomfortable. They were very annoying. There is so much extra space my feet were moving around a lot. Every step was annoying. They kept repeating that you want to go with a bigger size when you are running. I told them repeatedly I was not a runner. I just walk in them and they were very uncomfortable to walk in. Also they we're not helping my foot pain at all. The insoles were much harder than the one in the store so because it was new and the one in the store were probably more broken in. Even other customers in the store telling me that the size was right even though quite honestly, I hated wearing the shoes because they were that annoying on my feet. I didn't come in there for running shoes. I am not a running at all I came in here for comfortable shoes to walk around in and they weren't listening to me at all. I don't ever leave yelp reviews, but this was too bad of an experience not to leave one. Today my wife and I went out of our way to go drive 15 minutes into town to get her feet scanned because she needs new running shoes and we have heard great things about the foot scanner at fleetfeet. We got there, there was one blonde lady at the counter (I did not get her name) and no one else in the store, she didn't greet us and I had to go out of my way to say hi to her and ask if we could get my wife's feet scanned. She immediately was rude and asked if we were going to be buying shoes and acted like she did not want to do the scan. I said we were shopping around and wanted to see what size and shoe needs my wife needs before deciding. We did the scan and she told us what size she needs and said my wife needs shoes for stability, we asked what that meant and what shoes she recommends for that and she said "you'll just have to do your research"... she literally didn't tell us what a stability shoe was. I then told her that my wife has been wear the Hoka Clifton 8 and she actually laughed out loud at us and said she shouldn't be wearing that shoe. Needless to say, we left right after this because she was only being rude and not helpful in the slightest. Now I am at home researching what stability shoes are good for my wife and buying them online which is a bummer because if she would have been nice and explained things to us we would have bought them locally. Hopefully this lady was having a bad day and this was out of the normal, but I think fleetfeet may just need to train their staff on how to be helpful and make people want to buy from their store. read more

Wasn't here for long when we visited -- we were on the way down to Sacramento. Liked what I saw though -- typical local (corporate) running store. All the usual brands, and the typically friendly service. Very friendly service -- the girl working there was chatting us up so much, I was guilted into buying something and not leaving there empty-handed! So yes, FF is a chain, but they offer LRS-level quality help and selection. And considering this is a fairly smallish town you're talking about, every little bit helps. read more

Have a foot size that is unusual. Went to several stores and one of them suggested I try Fleet Feet. So I went in and a helpful lady brought me several shoes. Finally we decided to special order new shoes that were the same model and brand I had on. (That shoe was not available any store I went to, and I could not get it on Amazon). Fleet Feet checked and within 5 minutes ordered my special shoes. Even though it was holiday rush season the shoes came in on time and they charged a reasonable price for the pair. While Fleet Feet is a chain, each store supports local running events and they hire people who actually run so you can get solid advice about gear and runs. One of my Christmas gifts this year was a running belt. My mom is also a runner and knew I'd be picky about the type of belt I wanted to wear running so we came into this Fleet Feet to pick one out. The woman working in the store was very helpful and answered all of my questions. She also invited my mom (who lives up in Redding) to join their running club and told us about several other runs going on in the area. The store isn't huge, but their selection is very well thought out and includes all the necessary running items. Prices aren't terribly high (no more than the big chain stores) and you will get much better service. read more

I am by no means a runner, or even a jogger. I have been wearing inserts since I was in middle school and ended up with arthritis is my knee. My sophomore son was having a lot of foot pain, especially during heavy running at football practice. It was to the point he had to sit out of 2 practices. We had made an appointment to see a foot specialist. Another parent mentioned that their son had the same problem last year and they took them to Fleet Feet and they helped solve the problem. We went down on a Saturday and met Tom. He analyzed my son's walk and recommended sole inserts to deal with his high arch and tendency to roll his foot to the outside as he walks. *update* I went back today to return the shoes. I explained that they were too big, and I'd like to go through the whole assessment to find the right shoes. I guess the Redding version of this is to watch me walk in shoes. That's it. No foot scan. Nothing. I could tell these ladies didn't want to bother with all of that, and I didn't want to bug them. Gosh I'm so done. I ended up getting a new pair, and the workers were more knowledgeable about what shoes would work for my feet, which was a plus. They also let me try out different inserts which was great. I watched videos online about what fleet feet is SUPPOSED to do and my experience was nothing like those videos. I really hate to give only 2 stars, because the gal who helped me tonight was very sweet, but I'm pretty frustrated. I went in at 5:10 on 2/23. I was greeted and asked if they do the shoe assessment on the way you run, etc. she said yes... I expected to receive this test but I've never been there and just went with the flow. I was wearing running shoes already and she felt where my toe fit and said I needed a bigger shoe. Okay, so she went back and pulled shoes. They were size 7.5 and I'm a 6.5. They felt huge but she told me that was okay. Again, I am a runner, but know very little about shoes. My brooks were giving me knee pain, and I mentioned this to her, and that I tend to probate. She said the shoe I had on would help. I then asked if I could try saucany brand shoes. I tried one pair and they were okay, but then she brings out a pair that feel light and refreshing. Again, I asked about if them feeling Big was okay and she said yes. So i bought the shoes. I ran a 10k and now have a huge blister and my heels hu. I then did my research and learned that this place is supposed to really analyze your feet, run, injuries, lifestyle, to find the right shoe. I didn't get any of that. She was so kind, but why didn't I receive the service that is promised on the website? You're just wasting money because now I'm taking these back and you won't be able to resale. I have bought multiple pairs of shoes there. This is the first place in 50 years that actually had me walk and then run a few feet to assess my gate and its unique movement. What a game changer. The Altra platform was a life saver at the time. I was looking for a new pair and they did not have the model I have worn since the beginning. I did some research on line and the HOKA line came up. The professional at Fleet Feet in Redding CA had me try on a pair of HOKA BONDI 7'S Which were like putting on an old comfy pair of slippers. I asked if they had them in a wide and they did which was a shock to me. When I slipped them on I instantly knew my Altra Olympus were being replaced. This is the first shoe I have walked Costco and not had hip or knee or foot pain. THE BONDI 7 is my new favorite shoe. These guys are great! I participated in their Good Form running clink this summer. It was such a great help! I had thought that I was a focused mid foot striker when I run, but as they videotaped me running then played it back in slow motion, I was shocked to see my feet land heel first. The instructor worked with me to remedy that and how to move my arms and posture for improved speed and less fatigue. I chose to be fitted for new shoes and that has been amazing. The salesman was quite knowledgable and spent a lot of time observing my gait walking and jogging to find exactly the right shoe and orthotics. My time improved by a full minute per mile with new shoes! Recently I did a run and a 20 mile hike in my old shoes, trying to prevent "ruining" my good shoes in the rain. What a mistake! I got severe shin splints. I tried to run days later and could not go on due to the severe pain. I drove right to the store, shortly before they closed. They spent so much time with me evaluating the problem, fitting me for compression socks, teaching me how to put them on and giving me valuable education on what I could do to get better one week before a race. I did everything I was advised to and within 2 days my pain is almost gone...as long as I don't run! I have so much confidence in these guys! Yes, you will pay more for good quality products but the free education is what is most valuable! I plan to enroll in their half marathon training program soon. Would have given 5 stars except that yes, the shoes and products are expensive....but you get what you pay for!!! read more

I am very impressed with this business. I had never been in before today. The young woman that helped me was absolutely phenomenal. She was well trained, extremely knowledgeable, and very helpful. I wish every shoe retailer was like this. They help you every step of the way, and they are trained to watch how you run and recommend a shoe/insert based on your specific needs. Needless to say I will never shop at dicks or any big box retailer for exercise gear when there is a store this well versed in their product that is locally owned and operated. Some background: I have purchased exactly one pair of shoes from Fleet Feet while living in Santa Barbara. I had a wonderful experience in the store and have put far more miles on the shoes than I've been able to with any other pair. Like anyone else would tell you, Fleet Feet will assess your individual shoe needs and make several recommendations accordingly. I'm pretty much confined to Mizuno's, which is entirely ok with me, although I have to understand that I'm surrendering at least $120 for the shoes. Additionally, I was looking for inserts this time 'round. $50 more. So here's my experience: My husband and I are nearing a trip abroad that will require upwards of 10 miles of walking per day. We're both fit people, I run regularly, and we can somewhat justify a collective $350 purchase to cover our shoes, inserts, and overall comfort. We get assessed, make talk, ask questions, and remain hesitant to spend a few hundred dollars on our feet. We're talking a fridge full of groceries, here! We say we'll return, I wanted to see how others get about the product through some running websites; what inform customer wouldn't? Like all good salesmen (two women in this case), they weren't keen on the idea of sacrificing such valuable information: you know, like what they sized us at. Or the shoe model. My goodness. I did remember my type, but my husband asked several more times the model and size they "put in the system," which seemed to be a favorite phrase. We left, realized a need for the inserts at the very least that, if nothing else, we could just stick in our old shoes, and elected to shop online instead. I love to support local business however I can, although my experience left me sorry we even have them $100 for the inserts. What would have cost us the $250 for the shoes (which I would have gladly paid to patronize local business), cost a mere $140 online. And without the rude attitude. Again, I would have gladly returned the next day if I just had two tiny pieces of information they would not release. They forfeited $250 and saved me $110. Have gone to this store the past few years and purchased shoes. Usually spend about $140-150. Last week I walked in and was not greeted, as the employee, a middle aged man, was talking to someone I first thought was a customer. I looked around for awhile and received no "hello", no "I'll be with you shortly" or any acknowledgement that I was even there! They were talking about trails for awhile then got into a conversation about the guys daughter and her running. I walked around waiting, but was completely ignored! So I have to be fair. I did go back and bought a foam roller after that initial review. Face it, It's a small town and I needed one. I have a post surgery long flexor that was cut so it causes some issues that just can't be resolved without a little extra care. There wasn't exceptional customer service, but they did take the money and hand me a roller. In all fairness I didn't ask any questions. If it was a big box store it would be the same interaction. I received a postcard as a friendly reminder that it's been a year since I purchased shoes, so I headed over. I was lucky to get Anthony, who was incredibly friendly and helpful. I picked out a few shoes that I liked, hooping to get a couple of pairs. I usually have a difficult time buying shoes because of my long, narrow feet and today was no exception. We went through about 15 styles with little success. I usually have to give up on style for fit. I was resigned that it was going to be another plain blue shoe kind of day, but I was wrong. Anthony was not giving up on my quest for stylish shoes. I've got a pair on order that are long, narrow AND super cute. He never gave up (even after I did!). I went to fleet feet for the first time last week and it won't happen again. The woman I dealt with was ridiculous! She would not, I repeat would not allow me to try the size of shoe I wanted because she said it wouldn't fit. But, she insisted the ones I had on that, were slipping everywhere, fit me and just need to be tied tighter, which she did and it was painful. She then proceeded to get a completely different brand and style of shoe, in the size I wanted, to show me they're too small. It was an uncomfortable and strange experience. I won't ever even step foot in there again. She made it clear she doesn't want me as a customer, which is her mistake because I run and have messed up feet from 4 foot surgeries. I read other reviews and I don't really understand her attitude, other people seemed to get good service. read more

I purchased a pair of shoes in May 2017, the salesperson measured my foot asked what activity I planned. I explained I was only going to wear them walking, she recommended a shoe. It cost 160.00 which in my world is extremely expensive. I only wore the shoes on paved trails. I walked approximately 10000 steps a day. In November I had to quit walking for health reasons. Yesterday I went to walk again and noticed the mesh was ripping.i returned to fleet feet today, and was told they were almost a year old and nothing could be done. The shoe was really only worn for 6 months. I was told the ripping was most probably a result of my foot needing a wider shoe. Their representative measured my foot in May and recommended this shoe to fit my feet! The shoe also has an unusual wear pattern in the middle of the heal that perplexed the representative.
