I love having our Macy's in town. The clerks are always very nice, professional, and helpful. I know many businesses had struggled during the COVID years which made it difficult for staffing. A few times, there has not been a clerk at a check out counter, but I am physically able to go find one at another counter. I have found that the prices are reasonable and they have good sales. read more

terrible store. my mom asked me to go check out some one seater couches, and the first time, before I even got to the furniture area, the furniture sales man asked me to leave. I understand he doesn't want me to do troubling stuff, but thats assuming im a bad person. I no longer shop there. Every past experience has included searching for an associate to ring up my purchase. I am a plus-size lady, and everything they have in that size range is frumpy and unattractive. Furthermore, my local Stonestown Macy's is gone, and for personal safety reasons, I choose not to go downtown. A star rating is required, and one star is one too many. read more

While shopping with my mom at Macy's in Redding for her 78th birthday we struggled to find her a size 2 in jeans. Mom is all of 5'4" on a good day and probably weighs 100 lbs wet. She insists she isn't a petite. We got Lucky and met Diana, an amazing Macy employee, and explained our dilemma. She listened to our needs in finding mom a light wash pair of jeans and seconds later changed to a pair of black jeans. She recommended a nice lunch place called mosaic. Maybe I'm old fashion, but I really enjoy the experience of shopping in a department store. So when my cousins brought me to this store to do some last minute shopping for dresses that we wanted to wear at a wedding, I was impressed the minute I walked in! There was so much to see and try on, that I soon wished that we had more time to browse! We were somewhat pressed for time, so we split up into different departments. My youngest cousin actually found a dress that matched the wedding party color scheme along with shoes! My sister and I found a number of other clothing items we couldn't live without, as well as some accessories and cosmetics! The best part was that many things were on sale! The whole store was well maintained, clean and fully stocked with merchandise. Not to mention the lovely and festive decorations of the season. Tried to buy lipstick the other day. I waited some time for associate to help customer at Estee Lauder counter. Left to shop at other side of mall. Came back to see same customer being helped. Asked another associate for help in make up (Mac?). Said she couldn't help cause she didn't know where EL lipstick was. Told I'd show her. She told me to go back and wait for other lady. I am really upset with this store. I had an armload of clothes to try on--which I would have definitely bought if they fit and asked for a fitting room. I was told fitting rooms are not open and I would have to purchase the items, take them home, try them on, and bring back what I didn't want - for a refund. Really???? Is my time less valuable than Macy's? I assume this is a Covid decision. Other stores have fitting rooms open and sanitize them after each use. Could Macy's not do that???? I've been to this Macy's location twice, and I have had really excellent experience visiting this Macy's compared to other Macy's in the Central Valley. This Macy's is small, but carries a tad bit more of a selection and is very clean and organized that things would appeal to you! For example, they carry a wider selection of RVCA than any of the other Macy's, except SF Macy's. Plus, this Macy's has the lowest sales tax in the state. The customer service here was excellent! All the sales associates greeted me and asked if I needed help with anything. I definitely recommend this Macy's location if anyone is in or passing through the Redding, CA area! read more

I have always loved MACY's but they have outsourced their call center to a foreign country. They can't understand you and you can't understand them. I placed a order for my daughters wedding and I had to call it in so it could be overnighted, COVID emergency, and they completely lost the Oder! That I placed it, that It was coming, everything lost!!! I had to call again, which takes forever to get someone you can understand, and I've always been good at that, now they can't get it here in time! I don't know what I am going to wear to my daughters wedding! I really thought MACY's could be trusted with such an important occasion! I am seriously thinking about canceling my MACY's account. My 2 star review only reflects the Redding Macy's and not the Macy's company as a whole. For starters, the staff isn't the most helpful. Whenever I ask for clothing in a different size, they simply say, "We might have it in the back," and leave it at that. They don't offer to have someone check, and the couple times I have asked them to go check they made it seem like they should've been doing something better. Awkward!!! Sometimes instead of checking, they try to get me to order it and pay a shipping and handling fee...No thanks. Other stores in the mall will have your size shipped, free of charge. Shop around. I was shopping here recently, walking down the isle when an elder lady was voicing her issue with an employee. As I was walking towards them the EMPLOYEE pointed at me and said, "She may know." The elder lady then turned to me and starts going off about denim something or other.....Sorry Redding Macy's, but I am a customer, not an employee who gets paid to listen to customer complaints. I interrupted the lady and let her know I was not an employee and walked away. I was wearing pink for crying out loud...Pink is not Macy's uniform colors... I thought it was extremely unprofessional of this employee to pawn her issue on a paying customer. I left immediately after. My husband and I went in there this evening to go look at some Michael Kors purses. My husband was going to let me pick one out for my birthday. We went into the purse department and I was instantly approached by a blonde lady in her mid 50's. She asked what I was looking for and I said I just wanted to look around for a minute. She walked to the other side of the purses and just stood there and stared. It made me super uncomfortable as if I was doing something wrong. She came closer and just stared me up and down. My husband and I were dressed fairly nice so it's not like we looked sketchy in any way. My advice to you is to let customers feel comfortable while shopping instead of just standing there looking me up and down. You've lost my business. read more

Unfortunately my friends and I had a terrible experience at this Macy's. We feel we were treated differently based on how young we look ( age-discrimination) Im going to try and keep this short because I want everyone to read it :) . So my friends and I decided do some last minute shopping at the mall and While on the 2nd story of the Macy's we decided we were going to take a look at the furniture section for my friend is in need of a new couch for her apartment (we did not have any means of buying a couch that day , we had no way to get it back home ) but we figured we'd take a look and get an idea of what she might want . After looking for a bit a couch caught my friends eye so of course we sit on it ( feel cushions , see if it's comfortable, etc.) and start discussing if she wants to pay for it all up front or maybe start a payment plan how much she even likes the couch . We were just contemplating our options . When Diana (Macy's employee ) approached our group of 3 and no joke the first thing she said to us was " you guys will need to be leaving in the next 5 minutes " me being a little confused asked if they were closing soon . She then proceeds to say " no this section is just for REAL customers not a hang out area ." At this point I'm pretty irritated, my friend begins explaining to Diana our situation and how we were in fact looking at couches and not just "hanging out " as Diana so rudely said . Diana then very condescendingly says " oh we let me just get you a sales associate and manager since you guys are buying ." After we had already explained to her we were just looking and had no intention of buying that day . She then reiterated that we needed to "leave in the next five minutes" then just STANDS their in silence with her hands gripping the back of the couch we're all sitting on and waits for us to leave ( mind you we had only been sitting on the couch for about 2 minutes before Diana approached us so it's not like we had been hanging around all day .) So of course being uncomfortable with a employee standing/ staring in silence not even 2 feet behind us we move from the couch immediately and walked around the store a bit more. Eventually we decided we were going to complain about her behavior because wtf was that . So I go over to where I last saw Diana so I could ask her for her name. She was however on the phone so I decide to ask another employee right next her (Connie .) so I approach Connie and very calmly asked for Diana's name which I didn't know at the time . Connie looks at me and says " why don't you ask her " My response " she's on the phone." Connie then says "you didn't look at her name tag" ( at this point I'm like wtf is going on here ) but I responded by saying "no I didn't get a chance can you please give me her name." Connie looks at me like a deer in headlights for about 15 seconds . So I say " do you not want to tell me her name ? " she then says no and tried to ask me what MY NAME WAS . I interrupted her question with a very polite " Thankyou Connie " and walked away. I get a good look at Diana's name tag ( she is still on the phone) then head down the escalator. As Descending down the escalator Diana must've finished up her phone call because she then proceeds to start yelling at me from the top of the escalator saying " oh I can give you my full name I've got no problem with that " she said a few other things but I couldn't care enough to listen . I then find a manger downstairs and inform her on the situation (manager was very sweet ) but I left the store fairly enraged about the whole ordeal . Mind you Diana and Connie are 100 yrs old while my friends and I are in our mid twenties and could definitely pass as 18-19 year olds. I just can't help but feel like she would have approached our group differently if we were all Visibly in our 30's to fifties. Maybe she would have asked us if we needed any help or if we had any questions instead of immediately telling us we needed to leave . The whole situation seemed very off and I cant think of another reason for her to approach us with that attitude . I simply hope Macy's teaches its employees to access situations with out jumping to conclusions. Yes Diana I know my friends and I could pass of as being in our late teens, but even if that was the case no need to be so rude and hateful about it . Thankyou for reading read more

Caution Macy's shoppers! We all know that retail stores are dying. Here is a great example of why. Just bought a pair of boots for 40% off- great, right? Guess what, Macy's is holding them hostage for 5 days, really? I COULD take them with me if I paid full price, seriously? So now not only do I get to drive 75 minutes back to the nearest store in 5 days, waste gas and time, I was also unable to buy the jeans I was PLANNING to buy there after I got the boots so I could try them on for proper length. So no additional sales from me today and guaranteed no future sales when I pick up my boots which I have paid for already. Had I known this would happen I would have bought them on Amazon or another online retailer and had them in 2 days. I of course asked to speak to supervisor who was probably following her training to maintain no expression and let me talk and of course do nothing in the end. Brilliant idea Macy's execs. The ONLY reason we shop in an actual store is we want the merchandise now. Otherwise it is simply a showroom where we find what we want and then order it online. My bad for forgetting to do that. Now Macy's gets to store people's merchandise for 5 days. What do you want to bet when I go to pick it up my boots they are gone or missing? Hey Macy's why not just put them back on the floor and sell them again to another unsuspecting sucker...sounds like the kind of plan your execs would put in play. Yikes! The smallest Macy's I've ever been to and it just didn't compare to the ones I'm used to in the Bay Area. However for what it is, it's a nice store and friendly people. A little packed in and claustrophobic, so you really have to be in the mood to search and squeeze through the rounders and find something. I just strolled and left. If I could give 0 stars I would. I bought $200.00 sheets in Sacramento. It was a mess. They didn't have anybody working and when we finally found someone she was so slow and didn't really care. I got home and was ready to wash the sheets and saw that the thread was coming out. It wasn't in just one spot. It was all along the seams. I purchased these sheets with a gift card. When I looked in the bag for the receipt it wasn't there. She never game me one. So I took them back to Redding and told them that I just wanted to exchange them for the same sheets. The employee that was working the register was having a really hard time because the barcode that the girl from Sacramento had put on there wasn't matching up to inventory in the store. So she called for a manager. I pulled the sheets up online and showed them the item number but she didn't want to use it. She asked if I had used a macy's card and I said no I used a gift card. She said oh, unfortunately there isn't anything that we can do then. I had showed her all the places that were falling apart. And not just on one of the sheets it was also on the pillow case. I told her all I want to do is exchange them for the same sheets. And she said sorry there's nothing I can do. I'm sorry for the inconvenience. Sorry for the inconvenience? That is more than an inconvenience! I will NEVER shop there again. Now I am stuck with sheets that look like crap that I used my gift card for. My mom and I have spent a lot of money at macy's and we will never step foot in there again. Not to mention that obviously these sheets are total crap so I will never buy anything from that company again either. (Fairfield Square) Awesome job guys! Raise wages and screw your good customers over to make up for the money being wasted on incompetent employees. I'm currently at the Macy's in Redding California I came in with a purchase that I made from another store in Montclair California when I realized I needed a different size in the shirt I went to grab the receipt and realized that's the shirts that I had purchased hat said men's on the receipt when I came into Macy's I explained that to them that I just needed to exchange it for a different size the first cashier could not help me at all did not know what to do with the second cashier barely attempted to help me her name is Kelly she automatically refused any help at all whatsoever any customer service I asked for a manager she said that there was none available until 8 p.m. tonight I then proceeded to another area of the store to try to see if I could get some help the ladies were attempting to help me when the lady that currently told me that there was no managers available until 8 p.m. tonight walked up told them that they could not do anything to help me so basically she stood there at the counter lying to me when I ask for a manager she was the manager I was even willing to have the store the Montclair store review the tape and call them to help fix this issue all I wanted to do was exchange the shirt this is the most horrible unfair customer service I've ever received in my whole entire life I would not recommend coming to the store ever again and I am utterly embarrassed for your company that you have someone like this running your store and helping your customers in this manner read more

Alright, where to begin....for a town like Redding, this store is a great experience. For anyone who has said they can't afford Macy's, they're simply not trying hard, or at all. If you shop this store on any day you'll find great deals but shop it on a sale day (which is often enough) you'll walk away with $15 pair of QUALITY jeans and a top for $8. Decide you don't like what you've purchased and you have 6 months to return it ... SIX MONTHS! That's unheard of. The employees in this store always have a smile on their face and never seem like they're annoyed you're there. They strive to provide outstanding service and they do just that. Yes, this is a small Macy's but for the size of the town I think they're doing just fine. If you're looking for a 3 story Macy's, why are you shopping in Redding anyways? I'm just grateful there is one. The Cosmetic team is always on point and willing to help me find whatever product it is that I'm in need of, even if it isn't at their counter. Bottom line, I enjoy this store and plan to shop here whenever I need some retail therapy. read more

While I agree with the statements about the size and available selection at this Macy's versus other locations, I had a very different experience with the customer service at this location. The Mrs. and I had a major problem with our china from our wedding. When we initially ordered it at a flagship store more local to us, we were told it was a new pattern. It was very hard to find, appearing on the shelves of just a few stores nationwide. As the Mrs. mother lives in Redding, she stopped in to get details on the pattern and learn how people could go about buying it for us. It was at that point we all met Nancy Clancy in Redding Macy's wedding department. Nancy has been a high point for us, as she has been so accommodating and hard working. With her help we were able to get enough china to host a few friends. We recently found out that the manufacturer had decided to stop making dinnerware altogether and stick to his clothing line. We were upset, as we liked the pattern. My mother in law got a call from Nancy, with great news - she would be able to come up with a solution to remedy our problem. Last week we received sets of our new pattern, which Nancy was able to special order for us. They are beautiful, and we couldn't be happier. In my mind, customer service is not just a smile, a greeting, or someone telling you to have a nice day after you've made your purchase. Customer service is what we experienced here - someone that's willing to solve a problem you have with a purchase or vendor, regardless of circumstances. Even though it's not a flagship store, even though we may have to special order something, we'll be coming back here - because of Nancy. read more

Not a fan of the layout. All I wanted to buy were dress socks and I kept getting pointed out where to go by staff, but in the wrong direction. The point of my being led elsewhere seems to have been to upsell me, as when they sent me to the shoe department (which surprisingly lacked socks) with a sales associate more than eager to help me buy a new pair of shoes, which I wasn't looking for, but he surprisingly had no idea where they sold socks once he realized I had no intention of purchasing shoes from him. read more

Definitely the smallest Macy's I have been to & they don't have much of anything. It's frustrating having to always order online & not being able to see or try on what I order before I get it but that is what has to happen at this location. When i walk in it doesn't even feel like a Macy's at all. I was in need of an interview pant suit & online there were many choices but in the store there were zero. They also do not sell North Face in this Macy's which is completely ridiculous considering the weather in winter here. They told me I would have to order that online too. Very frustrating. read more
