I've probably driven past this place a million times, but I'm so glad that we finally stopped in! Everything from our service to our main course was absolutely wonderful! I ordered the hot honey chicken sandwich and my husband got the rattlesnake pasta, both were amazing (and spicy! ). Our server recommended adding the pimento cheese to the sandwich, so I did, and WOWO, SO GOOD! Overall had just a really great experience and can't wait to return soon!
Def recommend. Great brunch spot. Atmosphere, vibe, energy was all great. Food and drinks amazing especially the presentation. A+ for creativity. Would def come back again.
The food lives up to the name!! Food is so flavorful and delicious. We ordered a couple starters: Buffalo Cajun Wings and Biscuit Chicken Bites. Definitely get the chicken bites!! The bbq sauce is a good balance of tangy and sweet. For entrees, we ordered Apple Bourbon Chop, Honey Jerk Chop, and the Bourbon Glazed Salmon. The portions are huge! Our sides were cheesy grits and mac and cheese. 6/5 on deliciousness for all of these things!! Chef is doing a killer job back there with the menu - keep it up! It really pains me to give this place a 3 star because while the menu is outstanding, the service and overall vibe was a little off. We were greeted with a friendly host and server, but they never came to refill our waters and when we were ready to pay it took us so long to see our server again that I had to flag someone else down. As we walked out, not one staff member said goodbye which is so strange given the usual friendliness in the area. Additionally the decor is a little...random? Draped florals from the ceiling with word art promoting day drinking and furniture that kind of felt like a Chilis? It was a strange experience and I do hope they look to improve on service and ambience because the food has so much potential!
A new place in Jacksonville -- gotta give it a shot! First, let's talk about the food. The food was very good. Everyone liked their food and the portions were large -- especially the Kid's meal. We had the Cajun Chicken, the Cajun Salmon, Shrimp and Grits, Kids chicken and a chicken sandwich. No one really had anything to say bad about the food itself besides the blackened seasoning being a tad spicy for one party member. We were able to ask them to tone down the amount of seasoning while ordering to minimize it. Let's talk about the rest of the experience. We had reservations for 5pm on a holiday weekend and were able to get seated very quickly, no wait. That was good. The bad was that we didn't get silverware until after we asked for it when our food was delivered to the table -- about 50 minutes after ordering which is honestly pretty bad. The wait staff was extremely professional and pleasant. The decor was pretty bad -- it is readily apparent from the inside that it used to be a fast food type place and is now going for upscale but didn't quite achieve it's goals. Speaking of upscale, the prices were north of $20-$37 a plate for most dishes. Best value for the buck was the chicken sandwhich. But the meal was expensive for sure -- not a knock because you can research the menu before going but there it is.. The worst part was the music. It was incredibly loud. If you have old people or people who are hard of hearing, you better yell really loud or know sign language. We asked our waitress if she could get them to turn the music down a bit because we had old people and children in the party and she said she tried but indicated it hadn't happened. If you are old or your name is Karen, you might be bothered by the music genre (rap/r&b/etc). I thought it was fine, just too loud. Overall, great food with some drawbacks. If you can stomach the prices, the music and the wait for food -- give it a shot!
I highly recommend Flavor Hills if you are in the area! We spent the night in Jacksonville and had brunch here before heading back to Charlotte. We were promptly greeted and taken to our table. The vibe of Flavor Hills was vibrant and inviting! Classic 90's R&B tunes filled the air and everyone smiled and acknowledged your presence-servers and other customers! This was just the beginning of a beautiful brunch journey. Our drinks were sweet and flavorful. They offer bottomless mimosas and as much as we wanted to enjoy those we had to decline. We did have to drive back to Charlotte! The menu offered something for everyone. We had a hard time deciding what we wanted. We ordered the catfish and grits and cheesesteak omelette! Each dish was served piping hot and well seasoned. The tables around us received food that looked really good too! The staff was very attentive and friendly. The hostess even took pictures of us in front of their "selfie" friendly backdrop! I wish we had gotten her name! We would definitely visit again when we are in the area. Hopefully, we can try some other dishes AND the bottomless mimosas!
This place was absolutely wonderful! The staff are extremely friendly and accommodating. The decor was really unique. We had a blast reading the wall quotes. Our server was a complete sweetheart. She gave recommendations and was very patient with us. We booked a reservation weeks ago, as we were traveling back to VA. I'm SOOOO glad we did. Their food was beautifully plated and tasted even better. My husband had the biscuits and sausage gravy and he stated the sausage gravy was amazing. I had the French toast and OMGGGG, it was delicious. The French toast had an apple type of crumb and it definitely elevated a French toast plate. If traveling to Topsail, I will visit this establishment again. My only negative was, that it was FREEZING inside,
Our first waitress has been promoted! Our current waitress informed us there would be a wait due to the Father's Day volume. I wanted to try the fried devil eggs maybe next time. The food came out quicker than expected.
My husband and I went out on a date here. The food was great. I had the catfish n' grits, and my husband had chik of the hills. We also had the fried green tomatoes as a starter. Growing up in South Carolina and Georgia, I have very high expectations when it comes to southern cuisine, and I was not disappointed! Their catfish is one of the best catfish I've ever had. I'm very happy to say that we'll be back again to try more on their menu. This restaurant is a bit cramped, and even though the interior looks nice, it would be considered a casual setting. Hope you enjoy this place as much as I did. This place is a bit pricey but worth every dime. I paid $95, which is the starter, the meal and 2 alcoholic drinks, and a lemonade. The service was ok, I did feel like my server was all over the place, and you couldn't get her attention too well, but then again the restaurant was really busy, so I'm not going to put fault on her. She was just doing her job. Everything else was spectacular!
We came to eat here with a group of people. The food was pretty good. We ordered a bread basket, the biscuit was good, we weren't too crazy about the corn bread. The restaurant itself has great ambience and is super cute. The green tomato was delicious... the service was pretty good. My one and only complaint is that at the end, I ended up having to pay for another person's meal in our group. Grant it, the waitress told everyone to look at their ticket, however, there has got to be a better way of writing down everyone's meal (according to who all is on the same check). In order to avoid this from happening. I wasn't too happy about this mistake.
The food here was great. My server Lue was very attentive patient and was able to make recommendations. The service was great. The music was in point. I will definitely be back and visit the location in Raleigh
Flavor Hills is now one of my favorite restaurants in North Carolina. I decided to place a brunch reservation for my mother's 70th birthday after hearing about all of the hype of the new Raleigh location, I decided to try the original location that is on the same street of my mother's home. I really appreciated the southern hospitality here. Shelly provided excellent customer service and southern hospitality from the time our feet hit the door mat. It was chilly outside and she welcomed us in to be seated immediately. Markell was our waiter and he was wonderful. There was another young lady who waited our table who was very pleasant. We enjoyed fried green tomatoes and deviled eggs as starters. My mom and I enjoyed the strawberry basil mocktail. For our entrees we had Catfish and grits which comes with delicious collared greens. This dish was fabulous. My mom had chicken and waffles, my daughter tried the hot honey sandwich and our family member had the shrimp and grits. The fried green tomatoes were tasty and not overly done. I am looking forward to visiting the Raleigh location but this dining experience was a wonderful way to celebrate a milestone birthday.
Amazing food and so flavorful. Tried this place for the first time today and 10/10 can not recommend it enough. Everything is fresh. Even the sweet potatoe tater tots! The Mac and cheese is so yummy. It's super cute inside and you can tell that it's locally owned and not a big chain.
This building has been many things over the years. The location can be tricky to get into, and parking is limited, but the ambiance from the front door to the table. Seriously, even the ceiling fans have been dusted. The shelves and their belongings. The window blinds. Just not use to thr tiny detailed cleaning. My negative is that our table had a lean to it. Had a wad of paper towel stuffed under. I ordered the southern and hubby got sweet heat burger. He said it was spicy but not too bad. Overall, though, he wasn't impressed. The souther had so much flavor. From the sausage gravy to the breading on the chicken. Was Def worth the 20. Filling and flavorful. Best of both. It's a pricy place, but I'm kinda digging it. Will be back.

Ambiance 5/5 Definitely brunch vibes with decor reminds me of Atlanta or NYC with all the Insta backgrounds and photo opps. Very floral and inviting. Love to have more local spots versus the franchise trends in the area. Service 5/5 Really attentive service even with Saturday morning crowds weekend before Christmas. Booked reservations via Open Table because this place gets really busy. Food 5/5 We got classics fried chicken with waffles and French toast. Fried chicken was flavorful batter and they do provide sides of ranch and hot sauce by request. But pretty pricey for the amount of food considering the Onslow County area. Inflation is real. Also have a seasonal cocktail menu, we got the caramel mimosas which were pretty small again considering price. Definitely nice brunch spot in Jacksonville coming up considering growing up here and this use to be a Scholtsky's Deli. I forgot I was in Jacksonville. Hope to try more items on future when I'm back in town. read more
This place was a lot better than I even expected. Service was amazing, everyone was friendly and several servers checked on us and filed our drinks. The bar tender had a great smile and greeted us as soon as we stepped in. The hostess had the mostess! The blackened salmon was amazing! Cooked to perfection and topped w crab ( yummy) and lobster! The crab fries were bomb- even the Cajun sauce on top was delicious. Just enough- not too much cuz I hate over sauced and soggy food. The brownie was really good- not too sweet and topped with raspberry and caramel sauce. Had to ask for more sauce because there was hardly any on it . Plus it was a little over done and couldn't eat the sides because they were way too hard- but it was huge and I didn't feel cheated at all! Definitely going again and again! read more

We came in town not knowing what to expect since it seemed so small, but man oh man did we find a jewel. The service was good and the waiter Acquiese was polite and patient. I am eating right now, but I must write this review before I forget. Wow, let's talk about the ambiance of love and good vibes. Lane and Derek served us. They gave us top-tier treatment. But let's talk about this food. Get the bang bang shrimp, the crab fries, the collard greens, omg the greens. My husband got the Cobb salad with fried chicken, and I kept eating it because that fried chicken had so much FLAVOR!! I had the bourbon salmon, and I'm so pleased. My mom had another type of salmon. I don't know anything I wouldn't get on this menu! Flavor hills definitely brought there game! Thanks, Chef! read more

I'm really having issues with service in jville. I don't know if this is an east coast thing but man where is the service. Food was good. That's the only reason I'm leaving a 4 star. If I was reviewing on service alone it would be a 2. We sat at the bar. I've never had a more unfriendly bartender ever in life. She didn't smile. She didn't talk. Unless it was to talk mess about the other servers. Yea so there's that! Anyway fried deviled eggs were good. Shrimp and grits were good. Grits were light and delish. Not heavy at all! Shrimp cooked perfect. Mimosas so good. If I was to ever go back I wouldn't sit at the bar!!!! read more

Where do I start. The drinks were very good with just the right amount of alcohol to make them tasty. The food is out of this world. I had the seafood lingerie and wanted to lick the bowl it was so good. My wife had the steak frites. It was cooked perfectly and the garlic finishing butter made it a big hit with her. The staff made us feel at home and were very friendly. We can't wait to come back and try something else off the menu. read more

Great concept and good drinks. As a vegetarian I had very limited options. Decided to try the fried deviled eggs without chicken. They were good but overcooked which made them very rubbery and sulfurus. You can see in the second picture The yolk is more gray than yellow because of how cooked it was. The fries (not pictured) were good and so was my drink. I would recommend, just stay away from the eggs. read more

QTriple stack for brunch @flavor Hills We ordered over easy got over hard...waitress was wonderful! Tried to make it right...brought is second eggs...but still...over medium. Pancakes had no flavor...dry and tasted a bit like cardboard. Manager did stop by table because the two of us gave up with 3/4 of meal left on plate. Nice people...but ... won't be back. read more
Indigenous/Columbus Day had me here for a bestie's weekend. We initially rolled in here on Saturday at 2pm but that was a serious (serious!) mistake. We were sat right next to THE most obnoxious table of drunk girls (I hasten to use the term women because young women don't behave that way in a family restaurant at 2 in the afternoon) so loud and drunk that we got up and left. We gave our server 10 minutes to return with our drinks in hopes of being moved away from these disrespectful diners but gave up after waiting 11 minutes for water. We told the bar staff we were out but they didn't appear to care so we left for Mexican across the street. Bestie's hubby isn't into trying new foods so since she really wanted to dine here we made reservations for Sunday brunch. Much better atmosphere! Our server was attentive but not hovering. We both ordered an Island Mimosa. We expected to be transported to a tropical beach but we were stranded on Rum Road (more liquor than anything else) so first off, the drinks were a disappointment. Redemption was made with a basket of the most heavenly scones and blueberry bread. I want to say it's called Helen's basket but it's not currently on the menu. The butter and blueberry spread really made the smile return to my face. I ordered ala carte with a churro Waffle, brunch potatoes and scrambled eggs with cheese. The churro was a let down. It was very dry and crumbly. I'd never had one before so I don't know if that's how they're supposed to be but I had 2 bites and even though I took it to go back with me to my hotel, I never tried it again. The brunch potatoes and eggs were the other stars of my brunch. The eggs almost seemed whipped so well and so light that I fully expected them to float right off the table. The spices added to the breakfast potatoes were so savory (maybe parmesan cheese and an unknown spice) that I wished I had just ordered potatoes, potatoes and more potatoes. Overall, while I'm glad we made another effort (bestie loved her French toast) this was half great, half not so great for me that I'm not sure I would dine here again. For me, the open restaurant makes for a noisy and boisterous experience, so much so that I found it too much for me to want to return. Perhaps next time I'll just get a take out order but in house dining at this location isn't for me. Especially with the lukewarm dining experience. read more

We made a reservation the night before online to ensure we got a table because this place is only open 4 days a week and it gets busy!! Our reservation was at 630 and we were seated a few minutes after we arrived. The staff was very friendly and helpful since it was our first visit. They do not have hand held menus you scan QR code to see the menu. Everything looks delicious!! We ordered beverages first.. I got the mimosa flight .. I didn't get one on menu I got a substitute one had peach, passion fruit, guava and mango.. all were so good! It was a 50 cent charge extra to have these but I didn't see the prob with that at all! We shared the fried green tomatoes with crab meat and a really good sauce ! Crispy outside tender and delicious inside! Then I got chicken of the hills.. a delicious chicken breast split and so tender! On bed of garlic mashed potatoes and crispy Brussels sprouts with mango salsa and balsamic glaze!!! For dessert we split a peach cobbler.. you could taste the hints of butter and bourbon glaze so good and a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top!! Absolutely a dining experience I won't soon forget.. the inside is really cute.. there's a spot at front where you can take a selfie with flowers and sign in neon ! The bar area is very nice too.. lots of different named beverages and most made with nc liquors.. a few drinks were made with our county's own Walton's distillery liquors.. that kinda makes it feel more special.. that being said they do not have beer on tap from Budweiser or Miller or any store bought beers.. they have their own selections and will let you try them to see what you'll like or you can do a flight of beers.. samples are free it's just a sip verses a small glass of each that' you pay for but it's kinda nice having options.. really enjoyed our night here. read more

I was in Jacksonville for work and happened to drive past this restaurant several times so a friend and I decided to try it. Since I couldn't decide on a beer, I ordered the flight which included the False, Kolsch, She Wants Me, and S'moose. I enjoyed all of the beers and noticed that they all tasted better with the food. We got the Crab Fries for our starter and it was sooo yummy!!! For my entree I had the Apple Bourbon Chop which was a 12 oz bone-in pork chop served with Bourbon glazed apples and garlic whipped potatoes. The dish also came with flash fried brussel sprouts but I substituted them with sautéed asparagus. Everything was prepared and flavored perfectly! Although the food was delicious, I thought it was a bit overpriced. The prices were similar to eating out at home in Hawaii. read more

I found this little gem while visiting family in North Carolina. I was pleasantly surprised by the overall aesthetic and vibe when I walked in. It has a cute wall for photos and the decor was fun and bright. Our server (who was also the bartender) was very welcoming and offered great suggestions from the menu. He was very attentive and we appreciated his great service! He also made phenomenal drinks. We started with 2 cocktails, the Allures Way & the Bourbon and Blue. Both tasted amazing - I recommend the Allures Way due to its beauty and uniqueness in flavor. We also got the tequila flight which is something I'd never seen at a restaurant! Super fun & original. A must have for tequila lovers, big groups or celebrations. My favorite appetizer was the crab fries. The chipotle aioli sauce was extremely tasty (I could've smothered it on everything) and had the perfect little kick. There was a fair amount of crab meat included as well. I highly recommend those as a starter. For entrees we got the Cajun Ribeye and Cajun Salmon. Both were cooked to perfection. The asparagus, mashed potatoes and rice pilaf were great sides and full of flavor. We also got the Loaded Brownie for dessert. The brownie is a little thick and dense in terms of ratio to the ice cream, but still decent. I also think I would've liked the brownie a bit warmer. Next time, I've got the Red Velvet Creme Brûlée on my list to try. We plan on coming back for brunch! The breakfast menu looked absolutely amazing and they offer bottomless mimosas for only $25. Definitely add this spot to your list of places to visit when passing through the area, you'll be glad you did! read more
What a find!!! The place had a nice vibe. Everyone was friendly, the food was absolutely delicious and the price was just right!!! Steak was perfectly medium, fries had a yummy seasoning on every bite. We all agreed they were the best fried green tomatoes we ever had. Went back a second time for the bang bang shrimp. I want it every night. The freshness was impeccable. Problem was that I wanted more. I will say, I was a bit disappointed that some drinks were not available, but I don't blame them for that. All of the food was wonderful that we ate. Fresh and hot. The drinks were perfect except for the first one. I ordered one and forgot the name now, but the description and what was given to me were completely different. Bar tender said she followed the card. Idk. The drink was still good but no where near the description. The waitress was new but did a great job answering questions and with service. Keep up what you're doing guys. This is a new southern restaurant in Jacksonville! We decided to come here for lunch when the family visited for Christmas! We started with the fried green tomatoes and fried deviled eggs. (When you're at a southern restaurant; GET IT FRIED!) They were both very good. I think the table preferred the green tomatoes though! Very nice sauce. For my meal I got the crispy glazed chicken sandwich. It was a good size and had good flavor. I do wish it was a bit crispier. The sweet potatoes were good too. Everyone seemed to enjoy their meal! This place is a little expensive in my opinion and we had a new server so it took far longer than we were expecting but I do think it is one of the better places to eat in Jacksonville! They also make everything from scratch which is great! read more

My husband took me there for a date today and I LOVED it. The place is beautiful and clean. And the food and service was exceptional. We had fried green tomatoes (so gooooood), catfish and grits (not something I normally go for but it was amazing and the greens with it oh my gosh! So good!). Husband had the some type of chicken with gravy and potatoes (not sure the name) but he killed his plate! Will be back! VERY SOON! read more
