While it looks a little dingy compared to some of the swanky hotel restaurants around it, in terms of food, this place lives up to the hype. When everything in the neighborhood was closed and I was starved for dinner, came here, got a salad and did not disappoint. Bartender was nice and pointed out a deal on craft beers that they were having that day. Was cruising my delivery app a few months back, looking specifically for a good Cheese Steak. When I saw that they had cheese SAUCE as an option, I knew I had to try it. I won't lie to you, I'm a Cheese Steak (and Pizza) SNOB. Born and raised in South Jersey. Grew up eating actual Philly cheese steaks, so I don't usually like them from local places. It's just not the same. My first cheese steak from here was the best I've had in YEARS. The sandwich was stuffed full of crispy edged steak slivers. Cheese sauce. Peppers. Exactly as I ordered it. It was DELICIOUS. All of the food was fresh and hot but that Cheese steak....oh man. So, why only 3 stars?! We've ordered the same exactly meal 6 times since out first visit. Twice, it's been EXCELLENT (the first time and last night) The rest of the times haven't been great but a couple were just bad. Dead fries. 1/2 portions of steak. Great food (double smash burger / flatiron Philly Ribeye cheesesteak / onion petals), great liquor selection, & can not for to mention the staff (Aaron / Mackenzie). Flatiron Tavern opens to the public on Thursday. We were there for the soft opening tonight and it was fantastic. The building looks great, the upgrades are impressive and beautiful. They have a great bourbon selection and the food was delicious. We tried the pickled eggs appetizer(forgot to take that picture), the cheesesteak with cheddar cheese sauce, cheesesteak deluxe (peppers, onions, & mushrooms) with provolone cheese, fresh cut fries, and cucumber salad. All of it was excellent! The sandwiches are huge and are on fresh baked hoagie rolls from Audino's. We can't wait to go back to try everything else. The owners also own City Tavern, Park Street Tavern, and Ledo's Tavern (www.columbustaverns.com) so their brand is known, successful, and established. Ordered Uber delivery from Flatiron during COVID quarantine! Never had it before and wanted to support a local business. Food was warm and super fast but soooooo spicy. My friend and I split the Appetizer fries, spinach artichoke dip and BBQ wings. I know the fries listed they had crushed red pepper on them but the fries and dip had SO MUCH pepper. I usually enjoy the places I choose to eat throughout the country. I would not suggest ordering the smash burger, it was the smallest burger I've ever had on a bun.
