Stopped in with a client for lunch. My first time here. The lunch menu was limited to a few items. The sandwich wasn't bad for what it was. The service was poor and slow for lunch time considering it wasn't too busy. I've been wanting to try the place since coming to Jackson, glad I did, however looking at dinner prices and considering my service at lunch time I will probably pass on going back for dinner. read more

Two stars at best, read on for full info. Other reviews echo our experience. We were there on a Saturday night, arriving at 7PM. It was not crowded when we arrived. We were traveling and wanted a nice meal. While waiting for a table. we had a menu and decided on our meals. We were seated after about 20 minutes (7:20 PM). We ordered our meals with our drink order. Server was very nice. It took about 15 minutes to get drinks and then another 10-15 minutes to get the meal salads. In the meantime, it is clearly Prom night as young couples were also arriving. After the salad, we waited an hour for our dinner. Ridiculous! We got our meal and the prom couples got their meals shortly thereafter, even though they were seated well after us. We quickly ate, but saw that the prom couples really didn't eat as it appeared they were already late. They asked for a box to take their nearly uneaten meal, but they were out of boxes! The Prom couple next to us just left their meal. Food was good. We finished our meal at 9:10 PM. But an hour and 50 minutes total for us at the table, when we ordered our meal when we were seated, is WAY too long to wait. read more

Loved coming here for something nicer in Jackson. This restaurant is one of the few you can dress up & have a nice dinner/date night.

We ate on the patio, very pleasant and enjoyable. I had the Crab cake appetizer for my entree with a side of Mac & Cheese. Both items were truly wonderful. My husband had a Cesar salad with grilled shrimp and was very satisfied. The bread was hot when it came out to the table and the butter was whipped and it was so good!! I highly recommend visiting this local restaurant!!! Our server, Brooke, was very friendly and did not rush us at all!!! I have seen some comments about the food being a bit pricy, but ignore those!! I truly believe you pay for authenticity & quality and it was with every penny in my book!!! Next time we are through, we're coming back. read more

This place is WAY over priced and the food is average or slightly below, but is presented with such pretentiousness you'd think Ramsay himself fixed it. The servers are generally nice and very attentive, but the management and ownership clearly think this place is more special than it actually is. Naturally, the place is dimly lit; they try to make it feel special and not like you're next door to Hobby Lobby. Overall, it's a failed attempt at "fine dining" in a town that simply cannot and will not support such a place. Save your money and drive down to Memphis for true fine dining. read more

Good solid four star place. Here for meeting some business friends who suggested the Flatiron for dinner. Good choice. The atmosphere is classy relaxed and manly with soft lighting, dark wood and heavy furniture and comfy booths. We ate fried green tomatoes, drank wine and then went into the excellent menu full of steaks and Italian dishes. I had the chicken picatta, which was as white winy and caper lemon as could be. Yummy. Couple that with a glass of Cabernet and you have a fine meal. Wife had a loaded baked potato which was a huge potato and a meal in itself. Service was excellent. The food here is excellent but they have recently implemented a no substitution policy. I am celiac so when I asked about two of the three chicken options that had pasta the waitress tried to request an exemption and was met with a no. In this day I think restaurants need to adapt to a preference vs an allergy. read more

Well ......... Took my sweetie here for Valentine's day and got there around 3:30. (Was told on phone Dinner service starts at 3) After I was seated by the Hostess they informed us Dinner started at 4 due to the specials. 4 came and we were informed the "specials" were still in the works and they would not be ready? This was our 1st stop of 3 tonight and it killed the mood right off the bat. We then ordered off the regular menu and the side my Wife had wanted was sold out due to the New menu being prepared. We Luv their food, but we will NOT try them again for special night out events. (Wife even took 1/2 day off work so we could beat the crowd) let's hope that stop 2 lifts up her spirits for tonight. read more

I'd heard quite a bit about the Flatiron Grille before dining there. I was told that it's "terribly expensive", had "funny food", and was "very eclectic". I'll be honest. I was surprised to find a restaurant of this quality in Jackson. The food is exquisite. We had the Duck Tacos for a starter and they were very tasty, well-presented, and made with fresh ingredients. The sauce reminded me of Corky's barbecue sauce (but thinner and not so sweet). I also sampled the soup of the day, the Crab and Corn Bisque -- it was *excellent*. I selected the Pecan Crusted Chicken as my entree' and I wasn't disappointed. Served over yams, the chicken was very flavorful (the pecans added quite a bit). I also sampled the Tournedos de Beouf and the Shrimp Risotto -- both were excellent. The porto demiglace on the "Beouf" might have been a little better done (reminded me of Worcester Sauce), but the quality of the beef was very good. The shrimp was just down right delicious. The service was attentive but not intrusive, the presentation of all the dishes was excellent. The wine list was quite impressive for a restaurant in Jackson. Some things to note: Parking isn't a problem -- the restaurant is in the same shopping area as Hobby Lobby and Best Buy. The decor is very eclectic and is wide open and as a result, it's not exactly "noisy", but sound does carry. Children may not be the best idea (I didn't see a children's menu). Desserts are not made in-house. Pricing is on the high-end for Jackson, but you get very good value for your money. read more

This is actually a nice place to eat, and probably one of the nicer places in Jackson. It's definitely not the easiest place to find. They need to keep the lights up a little higher. There's ambiance, and then there's eating in the dark. And this place feels more like eating in the dark. Like I said, this is one of the better places to eat, but the food is going to blow you away. It's solid, but not great. And for the prices, I would expect great. It seems clean, but - then again - it's hard to tell in the dark. The service is a bit slow, but always friendly. Will I be back... probably. Because there's just not that many options in the area. read more

A long day on the road and this place met every need. Traveling with dogs presents many obstacles, but this restaurant welcomed our dogs, made us comfortable and provided some of the best food we have ever had. The salads and pork chops were delicious. I wouldn't recommend this place. It's incredibly overpriced and only fair anyway. Also, make sure you know exactly what you're going to be charged for drinks. I had 2 old fashioneds and it cost $28. Bartender asked if I wanted to change the whiskey in them, and I did. I went with Basil Hayden instead of Woodford. They are the same price on the menu, but I was charged $10 for each old fashioned plus $4 a piece to change the liquor in them. Then the receipt showed Makers because they "don't have a Basil Hayden button" even though it was the first one she suggested. Service is slow, food is average and overpriced, and I felt like I got hosed. $28 for two very weak and only average drinks is ridiculous. read more

It was great. Food was good server was nice and efficient. Fancy place so expect to pay a high price. Was going to order a steak but then saw the fillet was $59. No thanks! I got the Santos Chicken which was excellent. The lemon-drop martini was amazing as well. I would recommend this place if you have a special occasion to go out for. Oh my goodness this place is one of the best places to eat!!! The ribeye is amazing, it melts in your mouth. The grilled Caesar salad was my first and I have to say it will not be my last. The atmosphere is great and the servers are very friendly,attentive, and accurate. Hands down one of the best places I have eaten, definitely worth the price. Try the Carmel cheesecake it's to die for and the slice is huge!!! read more

We came on a Saturday night for dinner and there was plenty of room unlike the Outback for a 45min wait. 6pm. My wife ordered a baked potato with mixed vegetables of broccoli, string beans, etc. All she really wanted was the broccoli but they told her they couldn't do that. I ordered the Santos Chicken and a house salad. My wife couldn't eat the beans as they were hard. The potato was of medium size and good. Her two bottles of Pelligrino were each the smallest one could find. My dinner was ok. Portions were large and the food was definitely better than the Outback or any other chain. Expensive dinner for my wife to only be able to,eat a potato. Ps. Service was friendly but not properly trained to know that you don't clear one persons plate and ask them about desert while the other is still eating his entree. read more

So let me say it has been well over a year since I was here originally. Here is my issue it is so overpriced for no reason. I actually have a collegue who travels here more than I do and said he no longer goes here because they have raised their prices. I sat down and was stunned at the menu. We are in Jackson TN. If I wanted a 50$ steak I will wait until I get back to Dallas. I will also be at a place that has back waiters and top notch service. I sat at the bar and honestly my service was a 2 out of 5. I ordered a drink. Was never asked if I wanted a menu. I then had to wait to flag him down. Asked for a menu then waited 5 minutes before he acknowledged me again. My food a pork chop and ceasar salad was a 4 out of 5 but again about 5 dollars more than it should be. I will not be returning. I will go to Texas Land and cattle. Their atmosphere may be generic but their prices are more consistent. read more

I was expecting so much more. We came in after 11 hours in the car, so we all looked a little sketchy and were wearing casual clothes. Every employee in that restaurant looked my family and I up and down with a look of disapproval. It was very disappointing to be judged like that by them. Our server said few words to us and absolutely reeked of cigarettes, which was hard to endure when she was constantly reaching across our table. When it came to food, it was all edible, but nowhere near perfect. Our salads tasted of dirt, giving us the impression that they weren't washed properly. The fries had a fishy aftertaste, which probably meant that they were cross contaminated with fish that were fried in the same oil. The club sandwich was supposed to come with a pickle wedge and it didn't have one. Overall, it all could have been so much better ESPECIALLY for a $90 meal. It's sad to think that maybe our service and food quality would've been better if we had looked nicer. read more

There aren't a lot of choices in Jackson and after reading reviews we thought this was the place to go. Well... it wasn't. We were there at around 6:30 and there was literally nobody else there. When we walked in it smelled like fish... and not like the good "cooking fish" smell. Nevertheless, we sat down and ate anyway.... It was not good. The service wasn't good... the food was pretty gross (I had salmon... bad move)... and the place remained essentially empty the entire time we were there. Also, they don't have hot tea... they don't have any hot drinks apparently. Weird. Anyway, we travel to Jackson quite a bit for work and will have to settle for some other chain. read more

We've eaten at Flatiron probably 25 times or so since it opened. About 15 times were positive or neutral & about 10 times were gawd-awful. That's the reason for the two stars: inconsistency. You either get great food, great service & a great night ...or it's horrible & you curse yourself the whole way home for blowing $100 on swill. Sad but true: This place will eventually shut down once people get tired of a coin flip to see if it's an on-night or an off-night. read more

I am mystified by this place. They've got excellent ambiance and the menu has some great items. Even still, this place is overpriced for Jackson. The problem is further complicated by the fact that there is inconsistency with the quality of the food, meaning that one time something can be great and at others, not great at all. Additionally, the time that it takes for the kitchen to get food out is also inconsistent. I also have had more than one occasion where the service was BAD. There is also no signature item. I had high hopes for this place and I enjoyed my first two visits. My last four visits have left me feeling like I wasted money. I think they can get it together. Will they? read more

We were passing through and came here on the recommendation of the front desk at the motel we were staying in. We had a great time, good food, and romantic atmosphere. The prices were a bit on the high side, but we enjoyed it. After looking at other reviews, I would agree on a few points made. Yes the service was slow, but not overly so. Our food was right on - the SO had chopped steak and gravy and I had chicken piccata. The ambiance was dark, with jazz piped in - very romantic (IMHO). If you have the money to spend or want to impress - this place should work based on what we saw here. read more

My boss was in Jackson, TN on business with his boss, and asked me to find a nice place for them to go eat. After doing some research, I realized that there are slim pickin's down in Jackson! I saw this and there was some mixed reviews but it seemed like the type of place they would like. I sent him the info and told him about what I read. The next day he sent me an email, with "Flatiron Grill = Great Find!" He is still on the road and so I dont have details, but he is a picky person so the fact that he enjoyed it says alot! When he gets back I will try to update with more specifics! But he asked me to keep it on his list of my visit while on the road list! :) read more

Stopped on the way through town for lunch. Lighting was oddly dark for lunch and service slow considering the amount of empty tables. We all had burgers and they were pretty good considering the 20 minutes it took for them to come out. Perhaps 21 minutes in the future if they would season the patty. No salt and pepper on any table which is fine as long as your confident and skilled enough to deliverer. This the request for salt and pepper. For Jackson, TN...5 stars. Thank you for being here! 4 nights is a long time to be in this small town when you're a big city girl. I chose The Grill for my last night in town, job well done dinner. The atmosphere is indicative of a fine dining establishment with contemporary art, deep red paint and low lighting. The staff are truly polite and treated me like a customer wants to be treated. The Memphis style lamb chop ribs with a side of bbq sauce were divine; tender at medium rare with black bits from cooking over an open fire - just the way you'd want them! Everything was great! Great food great service and great music! I have to say it is on the pricy side, but everything tasted great! Do try the grilled Caesar salad. It's the specialty here. Grilled romaine and Caesar dressing just went so well together. No need for bacon to enhance the flavor. We had jumbo shrimp grilled and chilled as appetizer. There were 10 shrimps! This one is worth the price. I personally prefer them grilled. The seasoning was perfect. Lamb chop was juicy. Tilapia was cooked just right. They ran out of apple crisp which was disappointing but the black tie chocolate cake was rich and comforting. What a great way to end a meal.
