Another great evening at Vicari This was our second visit to Vicari, and it continues to be one of our favorite places for a great dinner. On our first visit, we had Kristi as our server and she was fantastic. When we decided to return, we specifically requested Kristi again, and the restaurant made it happen. It was so nice to see her again, and once again, her service was excellent. She really helps make the experience special. For appetizers, we ordered the crab claws and lobster shooters. Both were delicious and a great way to start the meal. For my entrée, I ordered the duck breast, which I had also enjoyed on our first visit. Unfortunately, this time it wasn't quite as good. The duck was fattier and had a different texture than I remembered. It came with broccolini, which was very salty and undercooked. The blue cheese hash browns, however, were very good. The other entrée was the redfish. He felt the fish was overcooked, and the asparagus was also undercooked and overly salty. Even with some inconsistencies with the food on this visit, I want to reiterate that the service was outstanding. Kristi was wonderful, and we really appreciated the restaurant honoring our request to have her again. Hopefully, our next visit brings the same food experience we had the first time! read more

Visited for an anniversary celebration. Had a reservation. Waited on our table. Cocktails were decent. Was seated in a corner, small table. The restaurant was hot. People Complaining. Ordered pork Marsala it was Served cold. Husbands meal was wrong. The waiter admitted it was his fault. The bill was not changed. Very disappointing. read more

Almost a 5, but a solid 4.5 option. We were greeted friendly and swift, had a reservation just incase since opening day. Will add pics as well. Appetizer was Spinach Dip & Chips My Wife had their Lamb Lollypops I had the Creole Redfish w/ Shrimp Perfect temp and cook on both of the mains, the dip was good also. The Bread pudding was delicious. Server was spot on, and Mika was always checking on us, but not at an overbearing amount to bother. Large bar area (it is inside hotel) 2 rooms for groups of 50 or 100 to cater company events as well. Pricing is a little on the high side, but this isn't Olive Garden quality. read more

Great food. Odd that the restaurant is in a hotel. A bit pricey for the food coupled with the service. I would go back and have but doesn't rank in, say, my top three restaurants in Jackson. Good food, pricey, and in a hotel. read more

Make a reservation! The service was exceptional. I'm big on the order of when each course is brought to the table and our server nailed it. She was very knowledgeable about the menu. The only downsides were that the seating was a little tight and our main courses were way under seasoned. read more

There is a new Italian Restaurant in town, Vicari opened the second weekend in January. Well Jackson this is a first class operation. It is located in the Hyatt on Forest dr.. BTW the Hyatt should be open in about 30 Days. Vicari is located on the first floor of the Hotel. As you walk in the hotel the restaurant draws you in. You are greeted by 2 or 3 Hostes immediately you feel special, they are friendly and very knowledgeable about Vicari. Be sure to make your reservation a few days ahead and that can be done on line at their web site. This restaurant is beautiful it is a great date night place and as you walk through to your table past the beautiful bar all the staff are perfectly dressed and very very well trained. There were five of us and we had wonderful Starters. The grilled Brussel Sprots, the Carb Claws in Garlic, the Spinach dip with freshly cooked chips, and oh my, the Shrimp Poppers, shrimp wrapped in bacon with a touch of jalapeno. We all shared them and the table was very quite as every one kept their mouth full. They were all delicious. I loved the fact that there was a 5 or 10 minute break before the entrees came. Everyone loved the food I have the Shrimp Fresco, it was lite and filling and loaded with flavor. Unlike some fine dining restaurants the portions were generous, the other dishes were the Coca Cola braised Brisket that melts in your mouth, Pecan coated Chicken Breast was tender and moist and perfect. Fish and Chips and Shoe string fries, the Cod was moist with a crisp but thin breading and the slaw was sweet and spicy as stated. Last but not least was the Spicy Shrimp and Lobster with Bucatini in a vodka sauce Yuummmm. For dessert we shared a warm Brownie with ice cream, Cream Brule. Our Server was Mika, her knowledge of the menu and the details of each dish was amazing. This is a must try restaurant. You will not be disappointed. read more

we attended the Mother's Day brunch. The positives include the food, which was varied and very tasty. Also the variety of dishes was impressive. The staff did a great job of keeping each dish full and appetizing. The staff was also friendly and professional. The disappointing aspects of the brunch was several decisions that included leaving their all their glassware in the shelves and using cheap plastic "glasses" for beverages. This meant that alcoholic beverages like a Bellini were not served in champagne flutes. This really took away from the upscale atmosphere Vacari usually provides. Additionally, the use of paper napkins was also a head scratcher, considering they usually use very fine linens. Every upscale brunch I've been to offers offers at least one specific alcoholic beverag, like champagne. it wasn't a huge deal but because the brunch was so expensive, it really should have included one glass. Finally, I was told that there was no coffee available and I'm assuming it was to reduce the volume of dishes needed to be washed. Brunch without coffee was nonsensical. This brunch was amongst the most expensive I've spent on a brunch but I felt it would be worth the cost to treat my mother to an upscale experience. The food hit the mark but their other decisions made the experience less than an elegant meal and disappointing, given the high price tag. read more

Went on a Saturday evening, place is beautiful inside, but appeared under staffed, big wait but that is the price of a good restaurant. .Table of 2 with reservations took 15 minutes to seat, no one asked if we would like a drink so got one ourselves. Hostess was very nice and helpful, but as a prior restaurant owner you can tell they aren't ready for prime time just yet. The waitress was well educated on the menu, a plus, but watching the food come from the kitchen it appeared no one was watching the plates leave the kitchen as they had no garnish, little presentation, if any. meat with no garnish, fish on a hot platter, no anything, not even parsely, like a slab of beef jerky. Fish and Chips were really good, so pluses for the kitchen and the Cod. Wife had grilled fish which was sent back twice, and in lieu of fixing the problem they heated the original fish which made it overdone, and not edible. Bad for the kitchen staff. Overall the experience was a 3 due to the nice atmosphere, but could have easily been a 2 for the food, which face it is what we are after. We will give it another try, and hope to leave a better review next time. read more
