I am at a loss as to why this restaurant has such high scores. We have been a couple of times with my parents and I was very disappointed both times, as was my husband. My parents love the place. The steaks are very overpriced when the taste is ordinary. Mine had pretty good flavor thought lacking that wonderful charcoal grilled taste, but it was not tender and quite fatty (not in a good way). I had to trim over a third of mine in order to eat it. Salad bar was small but with some unusual and nice selections. Potato was dry and served with fake butter (cheap margarine). If they want to charge the earth then they should offer better selections like real butter and real sour cream, why cut corners? As far as the place, it is small and very crowded. Has the look of an old fashioned family place, which I like, but tables are very close together and it is hard to maneuver pass people with disturbing them. Service was good at least. I just don't understand the draw when the steaks are average at best and the prices are more like a fine dining restaurant. You will wait for a table, even if you arrive before opening time so please be aware. I truly wish I enjoyed it more the few times I have been with my parents, but I just found it lacking, especially after all of the hype I had heard. I am glad others enjoy it, but it is a no go for us. read more

Snookum's has been around for years but it's been a reallllly long time since I've been since I live in Indiana. Was in town for about ten days and we had dinner here twice! Just so good that we had to go again! Their sweet tea is absolutely heavenly. Their salad bar has everything you could imagine and everything is super fresh. Both times, I got steak tips with mushrooms and brown gravy. My steak was absolutely perfect and cut with a fork. And tonight, we had dessert for the first time. OH MY. We got the chocolate pie, coconut pie, and caramel brownie cheesecake. Seriously to die for. Overall, an incredible meal and service is great as well! read more

I knew that I was in trouble when I asked for butter and my waiter offered me margarine (gasp). Snookum's is the kind of establishment that offers customers A1 steak sauce. The atmosphere is cozy and the food was adequate but if you're a foodie looking for a high quality meal, this ain't it. The ingredients are subpar and the food, while incredibly bland, took for ever to get to our table. This place reminds me of Golden Coral with a much higher price point. read more

Great salad bar. Steaks are pricey but usually good cuts and cooked to order. Steaks are perfectly paired with Texas toast, salad and one other side--I recommend the loaded baked sweet potato. Update: another time I went, I order the filet mignon and I'm not sure what I got, but it definitely was NOT a filet. It had a bone and was so tough you couldn't chew it. I always order a medium steak. But when I asked the server what I got, he said it was a "sirloin filet". Wrong. No such thing. And it was way too rubbery even for a sirloin, which also don't have bones. They don't know what they're cooking and serving, so that should tell you something. read more

Went to Snookum's for dinner as we were in tow for a soccer game. Was recommended by a local and wow! We weren't super hungry and passed on the steaks but the ones coming out looked fantastic! We will be back to try them! We both had the catfish with slaw, hush puppies. The slaw was creamy and good. The catfish was different - very good fish but the breading was more like a chicken breading not as much a cornmeal and it was very good. My husband loved the salad bar. The house dressing was excellent and he like all the items were chopped and ready to eat. Very pleased with our meal and we will return! The staff was very nice and accommodating. read more

This restaurant had been recommended by the waitress of ANOTHER restaurant in town. Snookums is family owned and operated, only open Thursday, Friday and Saturday and only dinner hours. I arrived at the height of the busy time and while waiting to be seated was told by several locals that I had made a very good choice. They recommended the Sirloin for Two, I was alone, but got it anyway due to several additional recommendations. Hey, it became THREE steak dinners and they were GREAT! The owner came by and spoke to me, asked how I had located his business, I told him of the restaurant that had given me my dinner options and spoke so highly of his establishment. Unlimited, well stocked salad bar, not just lettuce but interesting and unusual items. Spiced pickles? Yum! I was too full for dessert but others nearby said all desserts are made ON SITE! Many patrons were partaking and the desserts looked good. I plan to return here next time I'm in the area. read more
