Went to Flat Iron to celebrate a successful project with colleagues around 8pm. The food was pricey but that was expected. The vibe inside is dark and interior is fancy. There is a bar and many seating choices. The waiter was attentive and came to refill our waters often. Our food did not take long to arrive and in the meantime we ate our Caesar salads. It was delicious! I ordered a filet mignon and it was tasty. My mac and cheese was too salty though. On the other hand, my colleagues enjoyed their ribeye steaks and sides. We had a large party and expected someone to at least make an appearance at our table in the first 10 minutes but we had to go looking for someone to tell that no one had made it by . Then more time passed and we had to go tell the hostess and finally we had service . It was very slow service and the food was mediocre for some, good for some ,and really bad for some . My husband said how can you mess up a wedge salad with a sirloin steak but he couldn't even eat it . My grouper was not good and for the prices you expect it to be great. We were freezing cold and asked if the cold air could be turned down but were told it probably wouldn't happen. If we hadn't gotten the delicious bread we would have maybe left hungry . read more

We went to Flatiron Grill on a early Friday evening at about 4:30. The restaurant was completely set for dinner, everything was perfectly set, the Restaurant was clean and very organized. The Temperature was just right and the music level was nice. There were four of us. For Appetizer's we had 2 orders of the Bang Bang Shrimp, and they were fantastic spicy but not hot pepper spicy and the shrimp were huge. For entrées we ordered The burger with fresh cut shoestring fries, the Grilled Caesar Salad 10oz Filet Medium with Parisian Risotto, the Grilled Caesar Salad and Fajita Quesadilla, The Wedge Salad and the Chicken Marsala. The young man that had the Burger demolished it and said it was the best he has every had. Both folks that had the Grilled Caesar said it was great and they really liked the smokey flavor. The Quesadilla was nice with lots of cheese and beef but we forgot to have the mushroom taken off. The Filet arrived almost rare but it was quickly corrected. the meat was perfect very tender and a great flavor, the risotto was delicious but a bit dry. My wedge Salad was great the Maytag bleu cheese crumbles, chopped tomatoes, applewood ,smoked bacon, topped with bleu cheese dressing. The Chicken Marsala was okay, the marsala sauce was to thin to stick to the noodles it just needed a bit more heavy cream but all the flavors were there. We had a margarita and a few glasses of wine, my favorite red was the Unshackled Cab and it was dust in a bottle Perfect. We can not wait to return to try more of the Menu. I highly recommend this Restaurant. Yes it is a bit pricey but well worth the money. read more

Shrimp cocktail appeared to be made from xl frozen shrimp from Sam's. Salad was non descript, my husband's steak definitely didn't warrant the $75 price tag. The food is excellent at times. The service is ok, but I've left several times, as I just got tired of waiting to be served. I went tonight, and granted, it's two days before Christmas, but I sat at the bar, ordered a salad and steak quesadilla. The salad NEVER came!! The quesadilla had maybe two to three pieces of meat in each of the four pieces. My stomach feels like I ate a McDonalds. My quesadilla didn't come out for about 40 mins, I kid you not. I pulled it apart to see it was mostly sautéed onions, with no beef. I asked for the check, sat for another 10 minutes waiting for them to take my card, gave up on the tax deduction and paid cash. What a horrible experience. It's not always bad, but if you want fine dining, go to Memphis. They charge like it's fine dining, and serve you like it's the cheapest food in town. I did see them serve the parties good food, and I've been when things went well, but I'm not gambling there anymore. read more

Was traveling for work and, to be honest, don't have high expectations in some of the smaller cities I go to, however, this spot blew me out of the water. We came in for a business meeting and we're immediately seated, service was top notch, quick, and by our side every night. Appetizers are HUGE. Like, if you get any, just get one to share with a table. Our table got a few and they all said they were awesome. I knew the meals would be big so I didn't indulge here. Now, the meals. Okay, wow. First, the salads - I started with the grilled romaine. Can I have it every freaking day? Wowowowo. The best salad ever. I got one of the chicken dishes and it was HUGE. Tons to eat. If I was closer to home I would have taken it with me and enjoyed every last bite. The chicken was so moist and flavorful, all the sides were spiced to perfection. We got a couple desserts as well, and they were all bomb. Honestly, I'm dreaming about that salad just writing about it....and it's salad. If I had only wish for restaurants, it would be for them to take COVID seriously and enact their employees/diners to wear their masks and to wear them properly. This largely fell short at this visit. I wish I could say this came to a surprise to me, but being in Jackson, I can't say that it did. My friend and I came here for dinner. We had just finished visiting Shiloh and wanted to grab dinner. He had to drive back to Corinth thereafter. What we did enjoy about this visit was that the cocktails and dinner was good. We were fans of the bang bang shrimp and crab cakes. I favored the unique style of the caesar salad. It was charred and delicious. Additionally, our server sided with us about the mask wearing. He wore his perfectly. I Food wise, you can get pretty much anything that fits your budget. This is a locally owned restaurant in Jackson and probably the nicest restaurant that you're going to find for special occasions. My cousin got engaged here back in May. I would greatly like to see the change of this and their sanitary practices. If I knew they didn't enforce covid guidelines, we wouldn't have dined here, especially when he paid $130 with tip for this dining experience. When our large party of 13 arrived after graduation, we were told they did not have our reservations that I made personally back in April. Our party was met with attitude and dismissed by the hostess because we were not on the reservation list. Their error, not mine. Our 5:30 reservation could not be seated till maybe 8pm?! No. Only four dining room tables were occupied at the time of our arrival. Requested to speak with the manager because why would I show up from out of town with 13 people and not have reservations?! Manager's attitude was not much better, which explained the attitude of the hostess as a reflection of leadership. If they are going to rely on people answering the phone to take reservation information, then make sure it is done correctly. Otherwise, there are several great online reservation systems options they should strongly consider to help prevent such errors. Don't argue with customers, it's not good for business. They did us a "favor" by splitting our party into three booths rather than what was requested at the time of reservation as we were there to celebrate graduation. The server was good, the food was tasty once it arrived. But be warned - double check, triple check to make sure they have your reservation so you don't get met with adversity and "not my problem" attitudes. read more

Ultimately the reason I'm giving this place a 1 star is BUTTER. That's what I ate!! Butter with a little bit of meat and veggies on the side. It was disgusting. Everything tastes like it. I get it restaurants add more than most people do at home. Okay. But this was on another level. I've never tasted something SO buttery. Any and every fast food restaurant I've ever tried has had less buttery tasting food. Take a look at my photos--random CHUNKS of butter were hidden among the veggies. The whole dish was hot so even more butter melted, but this I had to spoon off. Ultimately, I would never advise any friend or family member to come anywhere near this restaurant. I care about their health too much. And just a few final notes: The noise was way too loud . The room echoed a great deal, and there are easy ways (like foam under tables) to absorb even a little bit of the noise. What I ordered was definitely not what was written on the menu. When I asked the waiter he said, yeah, sorry, the owner doesn't add that half of the dish is pasta. *but people who have been here before know that it's there... Was expecting a fine dining experience for the $$$ price but had a lackluster reality. Slow service with a 15 minute wait time between being seated and placing the drink order. Ordered our two meals, one with soup and one with salad. The soup arrived ice cold but the server replaced it with a lukewarm bowl. Salad dressing had no flavor and salad was basically a stalk of lettuce with cheese flake on top and croutons on the side. We ordered southern chicken and Sea bass dinners. The sea bass had risotto and veggies and the chicken had the same veggies and mashed potatoes. The sea bass meal was unseasoned and dry. That's a damned good burger! I'd classify it as one of my top ten for sure. I'll go out on a limb and say it's the best burger in Jackson. For $10 for what I got, I'd say the value was exceptional. Next to Hobby Lobby. The meat was cooked on a gas flame and then moved to the griddle to melt the cheese which was a wonderful cheddar. Good tomatoes, nice lettuce, and fresh red onions. The meat was 1/2 pound and I asked for medium which it was cooked a perfect temperature with just the right amount of pink. The meat was flavorful without using crap loads of salts and seasonings. I didn't really notice any seasoning at all. This is what a burger should be and I was impressed. It's a nice place and service was redundant. Multiple people were helping with the same thing. One person would offer me tea and then someone else would offer. Other people were helping me. Then somebody else would. Do you see how redundant I'm being? My only complaint was that it was just too dark. It's in the middle of the day for crying out loud! read more
