    TO GO MENU
    Lindsay H.

We did not want to go far from home and had heard great things from others so we thought we would give it a try. We ordered for the whole family and was only $34 which is cheaper than going to fast food Sonic. We got our order to go and when we got home the tots were still crunchy (you know like to go containers can make your food soggy... they did it right where there was no condensation in the containers when we got home.) Everything we ordered was so good. Baked potato was perfect (not under or over baked). The owner was nice and the lady we saw also working there would smile when she passed us. Nice people. The building... granted it is not the best looking building or decor that is top notch ... it is what it is.. rough on the exterior but where it counts in the people and food... it deserves a 5! I am attaching photos of the to go menu but if you call ask for their specials because they had items posted like the baked potatoes we ordered.

The food however was honestly meh (in my opinion). I got a creole dish and to be fair my dish looked beautiful. The plating was 10/10 but the taste for me left something to be desired. After eating this dish I questioned if I even like creole sauce because it really just wasn't that good. If this is a preference issue, I honestly don't know. I also thought the charcuterie appetizer had a weird mix of items on it from club crackers, to meat and cheese, and random veggies. Not bad but just kind of a weird mix. My husband ordered the salmon and he said it was good, not the best he's had but it was good. Other friends of ours got the white fish among the many other dishes. I did have a salad with these apples on it which was incredibly yummy. I will say though my dish looked amazing some of the other dishes were not plated well. Not to nitpick but to want to be considered a more upscale restaurant which means charging guest more money than say a local Applebee's then knowing how to appropriately garnish or drizzle sauce to elevate at plate is important (see my picture of the chicken dish). All and all not my favorite restaurant but definitely not the worst!!

We were traveling through Brownsville and came here because we wanted a fix of classic American…read morefood, but with better quality than fast food. Livingston's Soda Fountain & Grill delivered with a nice side of nostalgia. We started with an appetizer of Cheese Sticks. We then followed that up with some burgers. I got the Livingston's Burger, which was delicious, while my brother got the Ole Tyme Burger. And as if the burgers weren't enough, these burgers were served with a mountain of delicious fresh-cut fries. But the best part of our meal was at the end, when we were convinced to get two milkshakes, one for each of us. And I'm glad we did, as these were the most delicious milkshakes we had in quite a while, and I was sipping on mine all the way back to our hotel. In short, if you find yourselves traveling through Brownsville and have the time for a proper meal, I strongly recommend you take the detour away from the Interstate to stop at Livingston's Soda Fountain & Grill, and don't forget dessert, because it is the best part here. And if we find ourselves traveling through Brownsville around lunch or dinner time again, we will definitely come back to Livingston's Soda Fountain & Grill again.

You know the food must be exceptional when customers are willing to drive two hours just to enjoy…read morethe barbecue. That was certainly the case for me, and I'm glad I made the trip. Today I ordered the lunch special: pulled pork barbecue with fresh homemade coleslaw, crispy French fries, and a Dr Pepper. Everything was delicious, fresh, and exactly what I was hoping for. I had the pleasure of meeting Kenzie, who provided excellent service, and the manager, Cory, who was friendly and welcoming. I learned that Kenzie makes all of the restaurant's homemade fried pies. Cory recommended the chocolate fried pie as one of his favorites, and after trying it, I completely agree--it was absolutely outstanding and the perfect way to finish the meal. The restaurant itself is older and a bit dated, but it is clean, well-maintained, and has a warm, hometown atmosphere. During my visit, there were plenty of locals dining in, and I noticed a steady stream of customers picking up to-go orders, which says a lot about the quality of the food. I have high standards when it comes to food, customer service, and cleanliness, and I'm happy to say this restaurant met every one of them. If you're looking for authentic barbecue and friendly service, I highly recommend giving this place a try. It's definitely worth the drive. John Lobato, DIT

I appreciate being able to choose onions rings as a side but my ribs were so-so, the beans bland ($23 with iced tea).. The others had chicken or pork sandwiches and even a fried pie to go.
