We really enjoyed this place. Catfish, burgers, and chicken were amazing. The fires and hushpuppies too were very good. When we arrived we were told 30-45 minutes and were seated in 5-10. Love having another sit down eating option in Republic. Pros: $3.99 desserts are an affordable option and the Limoncello cake is delicious. Large meat portions. Pork tenderloin is a favorite of mine! There is enough to feed two people. Plenty of seating I love when ordering to go orders the staff will pull out food to ensure the order is complete before you take it home. Cons: They advertise nightly specials, including all you can eat crab legs, for the exact same price ($50?!)that is listed on the menu every day? This would not be a "special". They do not offer wing night like the Cape Fair location although they do sell wings here? The side portions, especially the coleslaw, are laughable. Basically you get a spoonful of coleslaw to go with your two portion sized meat order. They have been advertising a new "happy hour" menu all over Facebook but unless you click to the website or go in to eat and ask about it you are then told it is only for the bar area, whereas other local restaurants are gracious enough to offer specials for all dining areas. They also will not take reservations for extra large groups...I guess they figure they have enough business that they don't need to accommodate those wanting to celebrate special occasions. Overall this restaurant is clearly catering towards those driving from other locations to check it out. They don't seem to be very "small town" friendly in regards to offering actual specials for those of us that are local and would likely be frequent customers. read more

If you like waiting too long for mediocre food with crappy service, this place is for you!!! Went to enjoy outdoor seating on a gorgeous evening. Was told we had to wait inside to eat outside despite there being 5 open outdoor tables. We sat for 45 mins at shoulder-to-shoulder crowded bar area for a call to go eat outside while we watched those 5 tables fill up with people who didnt follow this stupid rule and then get served regardless. Sitting INSIDE to wait on tables that were already open OUTSIDE is possibly the dumbest thing I've had to endure. Finally gave up and left. We will not return. read more

Had to finally try the Republic location after many many years of eating at the original location. And it was every bit as good. I had the usual, broasted chicken with the 3 sides ( Green beans, mashed potatoes and coleslaw ) and it was delicious. My girlfriend had the ginormous country fried steak sammi and her's was delicious as well. The music was all upbeat 80's and the servers were all very nice and attentive. Great beer selection if you love craft beer. All in all a pleasant experience with some of the best food in Southwest Mo. Go early and be hungry and you will leave stuffed. read more

I am from out of state. I placed a to go order. The lady on the phone was very polite and the lady at the to go station was very friendly as well. However, there were no utensils or napkins in the bag. I am not sure how I'm supposed to eat cheesecake without a fork. I'm not at home so I don't have any. I am staying 5 minutes from There so this was a quick trip. But when I started on my fries and chicken sandwich, the fries were barely warm. The chicken is real chicken, which is good, but it had no flavor. I'm not sure how the cheesecake tastes. Once I have access to a fork, I'll check that out. read more

Excellent, flavorful steaks! Very large portions and friendly customer service. This will be our go to restaurant from now on when we drop off our daughter at Camp Barnabas. Had the worse experience in my entire life today... the server angel.forgot to put in our order.. then she took 35 mins to bring me a beer after walking by the table and seeing an empty bottle you would ask the customer if they needed another drink but no she passed by like 10 times and not once did she asked me or my co-worker if we needed another drink... The only reason it gets one star is the amazing service. Ordered pork tenderloin and country fried steak. When the waitress brought out our food no one, including the waitress, could tell the difference between the two dishes as both were covered in so much breading and gravy. We were told to cut into it and the pork would be darker. Still couldn't tell the difference. Both dishes tasted the same as all we could taste was the breading and gravy. This was a take out order since we are not yet comfortable dining in due to covid. We got our order and drove about 15 minutes to a park to eat. My husbands catfish dinner was good, however, he did not get the sauce he requested. My broasted chicken dinner was so dry you could not eat the breading. It was hard to tell if it was a bone or breading. Plus there were no napkins or utensils in the bag. Guess I should have specifically asked for that with my takeout order. This is a new restaurant so large crowds and wait times are expected to go with that. We have been to visit this location several times since they have opened and the food is hit or miss. Their fried catfish is truly outstanding! We've gone back for it alone several times. The same is true of their broasted chicken. The same can't be said of other things on their menu. Their prime rib, for example, is below average -- and they charge a premium price. Our most recent visit was for a corned beef and cabbage special on St Patrick's day. It was so poor that they should have been ashamed to let it out of the kitchen. It was over cooked and dried out. When we quietly said the food was inedible, the waiter was instructed to bring out another plate of the same unpalatable food. Then the manager hollered loudly from two tables away to ask if our issue was resolved, but never actually visited our table to even see the poor quality of the dish. We were unable to eat anything but the sides. After two plates left on the table full of disappointing food, we were given a check for the full dinner- still never having been visited by a manager. So, do go for the fish and maybe chicken. Be wary of other menu items. If you have any issues with quality don't expect the manager to care. read more

We've travel to FC many times a year, but traditionally we go on Christmas Eve for All You Can Eat Crab Legs. This year was such a let down. I understand that the AUCE is no longer available, so I paid $69.99 for 3 pounds. They were easily the worst Snow Crab experience I've ever had. They were definitely microwaved and over cooked. They took 9 minutes to come out after we ordered on a busy Saturday night. I had taken 5 bites of my salad. Not one single leg had meat in it that would come out like normally. We ended up getting a Togo box and turned them into Crab Dips at home. I understand you can't control the pricing or demand for the Snow Crab, but you can control how you cook them after charging someone $70 for 3 pounds. Disappointing. read more

I was taken back to childhood when I saw bread pudding on the menu. Their take was very odd. Not pudding at all. It was a scoop of vanilla ice cream with chopped French toast sticks, crunchy and sprinkled over the ice cream. My wife had chicken fried steak that was rather tuff as well with grisly strings but she liked the mashed potato's. Maybe fish or chicken is their specialty. I would give about 2.5 simply because of how rude the hostesses have been every time we have put our name down. We expect there to be a wait but when you first show up to a restaurant you don't want to feel like you're an inconvenience or deal with their rudeness. My family and I love this place I had chicken fried steak which is massive with green beans and mashed potatoes (so so good), my husband had the kitchen sink burger which he couldn't say enough good things about, my sister had the broasted chicken she also had a lot of great things to say, my parents love the ribs and catfish. We got some of the fried pies cherry, coconut, and apple all were very good! I LOVED the French fries as well. Highly recommend this place everyone was very nice!! After flying in from Los Angeles I needed a good meal before heading into the country where there are very few restaurants. I've got food allergies (super allergic to dairy) so I'm always a bit nervous about eating out but I figured there had to be something I could do. I asked at the desk for an allergen menu, which they only have for gluten free folks (Yay!), and the manager Nick quickly asked where I was sitting and how he could help. We walked back to the table and I asked about a few things I was interested in and he carefully thought about each item and advised me on what was dairy free. I have to say this rarely happens so I was instantly impressed with both his menu/food knowledge and his direct attention in making sure I found something that was "safe". Then there was our server Ginny (pronounced Jenny FYI). She was attentive, knowledgeable and had answers to all of our questions. Her attention was impeccable. I can't tell you how much I appreciate both Nick and Ginny. They provided top notch customer care and went above and beyond to make sure my food allergy was acknowledged and respected. This rarely happens, and I'm so grateful. I hope this place thrives and Nick and Ginny stay! Oh yeah, the food was fantastic as well. I couldn't have been more impressed. From the time we walked in the door we felt at home. The staff were all super friendly. The menu had a huge variety. The bar even had the specific rum my wife and I drink. Although most places even bars don't. I had the prime rib and she had the crab legs. Everything was perfect. The sides were above and beyond just like the service. I loved the atmosphere. The music was just the right volume so much that my wife and I could talk and not fear others would hear us but quiet enough we could hear one another. Not only that but the music selection was great. I stress on this because my wife and I were liking it, we also noticed other patrons doing the same along with some of the staff even. It really set the tone for a great atmosphere. We thoroughly enjoyed it and can't wait to go back and try the catfish and shrimp. At the end of our visit I did see what I think was the manager coming out and turning the volume down that was sad to me. It wasn't too loud. Possibly bad management if he couldn't see that his patrons and staff were all enjoying it. We will be back for sure. read more
