If I could give them 4 stars I would. These people have zero customer service skills along with their manager.I don't know her name ,she is older blond woman with the glasses. The way they are treating the customers is horrible. I was trying to place the order to pick up of salad while I was driving their way. This used to be a good place to eat but not anymore. The way this place is run makes eating here extremely uncomfortable. You have about 4 managers micro- managing 7 staff members to the point where you can cut the tension with a knife (and this is with 6 patrons total so I dont even understand the business model unless its how to go out of business 101). Just for fun leave a cash tip on the table and watch how fast management runs over to count it before the waitress gets back to the table. So we ended up here after a fun filled night of dancing, ubering, and partying as us crazy girls do on someone's birthday. It must have been around 3 AM or so when we made it over here. At least I feel safe now. Back to the situation at hand. So the menu is pretty decent but quite pricey. Definitely a step up from Denny's. I wanted to try their cannoli French toast but not for $13. I mean, it's 3 AM so I probably will not eat it all to begin with. We decided to split a hamburger and fries and some eggs Benedict thing. The food was good and quick to come out. The seasoned fries are a must! Very crispy too. I can't complain. The waitress was nice. I think she had all the tables but she was on top of it. They have this dessert counter and the cakes were amazing looking. I'm talking like 5 stories high!!! I really wanted a slice but again... 3 AM. This place is no where near my house so I'd only come back if in the area and for some reason craving diner food. AKA...partying in Aventura. Since i am young and on a college budget, this was not a place i would go without someone that fits both criteria. With that being said, the food is not worth what it costs. Took my 92 year-old grandmother and wife for corned beef sandwiches and Matzoh ball soup. One would think this would be a simple meal to prepare since it's probably ordered a thousand times a week! Our waitress was Tama, She said that the sandwiches came with either chicken noodle soup or some kind of bean soup (forgot what she called it). We asked if we could substitute Matzoh ball soup as our choice of soup. She said that we couldn't. She appeared to be agitated like we were taking up too much time to order. (Of course it was mid-week and mid-afternoon... the place was almost empty!!!) Then she told us that the chicken noodle soup had a matzoh ball in it. WELL, THAT'S WHAT WE WANTED !!! Dahhhhhhhhhh. She brought out the food. The soup was very good. The corned beef sandwiches were horrible. The meat was hardened on the edges like they had been sitting around for a week. My grandmother's dentures kept dropping out of her mouth every time she tried to bite into her sandwich. We managed to eat half of our food. I drank my entire soda so that I could get that shit corned beef down my throat. Tama never came by to ask how our food was or to see if I needed a refill. Finally she came by and dropped the check on our table only saying, "Here you go." No "Would you like dessert" or "How was your meal". We took our check to the cashier who also didn't ask, "How was everything?" So I told her how everything was... or, more specifically, how everything WASN'T! She offered to prepare us replacement sandwiches but we know what happens when you inconvenience the chef or waitress... spit gets sprayed on your order before it's brought out. How this pisshole survives is beyond me but I for one will NEVER EVER go back there. I will also make it a point to warn others. That old fashioned place by the racetrack!! Yeah!!! Let's go to the old fashioned place. With trepidation I marched the troops inside. What if its shite and they moan and complain the whole time? I needn't have worried. It wasn't kitschy yet at the same time it wasn't Denny's. It was a plain old honest to God diner, the likes you would find in a small lake town upstate New York, or in a blue collar town in PA. Hearty meals served up with a smile. Individual guys at the bar counter hitting on the waitresses. Old couples from Canada in matching Hawaiian shirts and shorts, young families, tattooed couples, groups of gals and guys hitting the beach (stoking up before they start hitting the beers you know they have sitting on ice in a cooler in that jeep with the rollbar parked in the lot), a couple of old ladies with the hairdo's that last all week, Alice and Edith and their husbands Shlomo and Sol (he worked in New Yawk...on 47th street ya know). People were ordering Matzo Ball soup and grilled cheese sandwiches and we were ordering breakfast. Ah...the New York frame of mind. I think this is why this place gets five stars from me. I reminded me of my NY days, when we partied hard and went for breakfast when other's were going for lunch and it was always the same old diner we went to (the closest to the Irish bar LOL). We had no clue of the actual name of the place but we all called it "Amalfi Donuts". Good times, good times. Did I say I was feeling melancholy today? We were shown to a table by our line leader of the day, our youngest who was allowed to pick our table LOL. He was rewarded with a novel "keep your kids quiet" sticker game featuring firefighters which was a refreshing change from x's and o's and a pack of crayons and it worked a treat - it kept him occupied the entire time. The food was just great for breakfast food. The youngest had the kid's meal pancakes with an egg and two strips of bacon which came with a juice ($4.99). The pancakes came out shaped kinda like Mickey Mouse ears which tickled us no end and aided in the JUST ONE MORE EAR as opposed to JUST ONE MORE BITE when moms are trying to feed fussy kids. The oldest ordered a stack o pancakes and a side of home fries. He declared the pancakes delicious, possibly the most delicious he has ever eaten (little traitor). Myself had the chicken fried steak with gravy and home fries and two eggs (scrambled) and came with toast ($8.99). It was delicious - the steak was crunchy when cut into and everything was super hot. The home fries were very tasty and nicely seasoned. And half of everything was sufficient. Yes, I got a doggie bag for my other half of my steak and gravy because I am going to drive everyone at work MENTAL with the smell first thing tomorrow morning. Coffee was extra - $1.99 a refillable cup. Service was very good; food came up faster than at most Denny's I have been to and prices were very comparable. The décor is not stellar but they have some really cool old pictures from around the area which are framed on the walls and some news articles and lots of odd things thrown in (like the stars on the ceiling with peoples names) This place has been around forever. Its open 24 hours and they have a great menu. The lamb shanks lunch special kinda caught my eye for those cold Florida days coming up in about 6 months. They all come with the white part of iceberg lettuce, stale croutons and regret. The veggie burger was mushy and greasy. The seasoned fries were terrible. Just wanted to stop in for take-out of Mousaka to satisfy a craving. Greek Mousaka is a special dish, but this diner makes it complicated and expensive, you have to get the Mousaka as a dinner served with soup or salad (iceberg lettuce salad), rice and a dessert. Maybe the owners are Spanish? NEVER heard of serving rice with Mousaka. Weird. Didn't really want dessert, but decided on carrot cake which they stated they were out of. However, I saw carrot cake sitting in the display case in the entrance. Two Mousaka dinners cost $40.00 before tip. Charging such high prices and trying to justify it with rice, iceberg salad and small dessert will just continue to turn customers away. We will not be returning. read more

We didn't sit at the bar but they have a large bar area with what looked like comfortable stools. We were seated promptly and our server was pleasant and accommodating. I've eaten here numerous times over the years and always liked it. I had a very different experience today. My wife and I shared a turkey burger and a matza ball soup. The matza ball was light and fluffy, but the noodles in the soup were total mush. I said something to the server and she said " Yeah, they've been sitting there for awhile". WTF? I'm very disappointed. I just ordered a grilled cheese with sweet potato fries to go. First off they messed up the sweet potato fries by putting the marshmallow dipping sauce on top of them. That I noticed before getting out the door. Getting home the disappointment continues....My new batch of fries is very under cooked and the grilled cheese is soggy with unmelted/rubbery cheese in the middle. Getting all the way home and having terrible food is very frustrating. By the time you drive all the way back to the restaurant you don't even want a replacement meal.
