The food was just okay. The pancake was dry and even with the cannoli cream it was still lacking something. The waitress was friendly and fast however we were the only table in there at 3pm on a Thursday. The decor is just diner view.
Let me start by saying that customer experience is everything. I've been visiting Flashback Dinner for the past 10 years, and it's always been one of my favorite spots for traditional American food. As an Aventura resident, I've been a loyal patron, dining there at least 3 times a month. However, something has changed over the past 6 months, and the customer service has gone downhill. But what happened today was simply unacceptable. I arrived with my daughter for lunch and was assigned a server named Olga, who seemed more annoyed to be serving us than anything else. When I asked about the lunch or daily specials (which have always been delicious), she snapped at me with a straight, "NO, WE DON'T HAVE," and turned her back on us. The restaurant temperature was freezing--a chilling 52°, making it impossible to sit comfortably. We were literally shivering. When Olga returned to take our order, I asked for the ossobuco. Her response? Another curt, "NO, WE DON'T HAVE IT." I took a deep breath and tried to find something else on the menu. I decided on the Tres Amigos Steak Bowl--one of my all-time favorites that I don't even need to look at the menu to order. I ordered one for myself and one for my daughter. Olga, once again rolling her eyes, said, "WE DON'T HAVE THE MEDALLIONS. Just ribeye." While I didn't mind the substitution, I also ordered a side of truffle fries. Guess what? "WE DON'T HAVE IT." At this point, we were freezing and just wanted to eat. But the temperature became unbearable, and the service was so unpleasant that we decided to ask for takeout boxes so we could eat at home. When the check came, I was shocked to see that we had been charged for the Southwest Steak Bowl, which was $10 more per dish than the Tres Amigos Steak Bowl I had ordered. Olga claimed I had "agreed" to this when she told me they didn't have the medallions. Excuse me? If you don't have an item, you should show the alternative on the menu and confirm with the customer--not surprise them with a higher charge on the bill. Miami is notorious for up-charging clients in beauty salons, clubs, and other establishments, but in a restaurant? This is the first time I've experienced it. Olga's body language, arguments, and attitude while saying, "You have to pay," were incredibly unprofessional. Of course, I paid--I'm not a scammer. But in this situation, am I the scammer, or is it the restaurant? To top it off, the complimentary bread and butter, which has been a staple since the Reagan administration, was nowhere to be found. I can't help but wonder where the wonderful gentleman who used to manage this restaurant is. Under his supervision, this would NEVER have happened. I am incredibly disappointed in what Flashback Dinner has become. Loyal customers like me expect far better.
Haven't been here in years and live 5 minutes away , Wifey was in the mood for soup and sandwich so we let's try it again . They've definitely remodeled since the last time we were here , we ordered the many bean soup and matzo ball soup and shared a corned beef sandwich , the coleslaw and pickles were fantastic everything was great , fast and clean our server Jessica was very bubbly and a great server . Will definitely come back .
This spot is convenient and open late. It's on US1 just next to the casino/ Calder race track. Food was average had the Cesar salad and my friend had the burger and was huge! Service was fast and friendly. The ambiance was super quiet and chill considering it was late night. If you're hungry and want a quiet place to eat this would be it!
Flashback Diner is located on Biscayne Blvd, right across from Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach. I recommend turning into Flashback from the red light at Gulfstream Park to allow easy entry into the private parking lot at Flashback with plenty of free parking. We dined at Flashback on a weekday evening and were warmly greeted by the hostess and were promptly seated. Our server came by a few minutes later and was very nice and provided us with a warm greeting and offered us suggestions on the menu. We started with a carafe of Chardonnay wine ($27.99) and it was a decent quality for the price. They also provide you with a complimentary loaf of Challah bread to start as well. My husband and I both ordered the meatloaf ($17.99), including two slices of meatloaf, mashed potatoes, and a green veggie. The diner had amazing service, and the food was the definition of comfort food. I highly recommend giving it a shot if that's the type of food you're in the mood for. I'm a little puzzled why some of the reviews are so low- so disregard these and definitely give them a try!
This place was so good! Better than IHOP and dennys! The service was absolutely amazing and it's super diner vibes here. We can hear 2 times in our short trip for that late night bite. Everything was so good but that apple pie warmed up with vanilla ice cream was our favorite. Definitely will be back.
Was at Flashback Diner pretty late in the evening. Eggs, bacon, and pancakes all were good. Waitress was very quick and upbeat. It has a classic Diner vibe. Highly recommend!:)
I have to say most diners I've been to have very weird tasting eggs - not this place! I had their veggie omelette - it was delicious! I loved the food! The "home fries" could've been better. Overall we were happy with our service and experience. I do plan to be back. I did see several patrons come in on a Sunday afternoon for the meatloaf so may try that entree in the future. Decor is cute and on theme, parking is ample, and place is well kept.
We came here for dinner with friends. We'd been here many years ago when looking for a place with a variety of options -- to suit everyone's different cravings -- and thought we could do the same this time. We came early and they were not very busy. In any case, we had good service. And there was plenty of parking in their private lot. You can have breakfast here all day. The eggs were cooked as ordered; the sausage links well done; the waffles were light and fluffy. The matzah ball soup was decent. The "ball" itself was huge. It also came with wavy noodles. The broth was flavorful. The spanakopita -- spinach pie -- was a large square with flaky filo. It was served with two large ripe red tomato slices. The Buffalo wings were meaty and only slightly spicy. It was a mix of drums and flats with celery. You got to choose between ranch or blue cheese for your dipping sauce. We were too full for desserts. But they had quite a few appealing cakes, et al, in their display case. Next time, I'd like to try their chicken and waffles or even one of their Benedict's. Good to know they're open whenever you're hungry and in the neighborhood.
Came the to Flashback for the first time and I was pleasantly surprised! I came for lunch and ordered the soup and half sandwich special they offer. I chose the Matzo Ball soup and for my sandwich I chose Tuna. I really enjoyed the soup, it had the right amount of salt and flavor I was looking for. And for my tuna sandwich, it was way bigger than i was expecting, I could barely finish it. Overall I thought the food was really good. Shoutout to Tama for being a wonderful server, she was really sweet and attentive. I would definitely come back and recommend this diner.

Love to come and sit in a booth, watch television and easy breakfast. However when I got here I was grated by Tama, who is the rudest witch I ever met. She brought me to a corner table for one which should be used for putting kids on timeout. I told her I preferred a booth with a television and she exploded and told me is I didn't like it then I can go wait and stormed away. Even though two tables away was a booth with a television being cleaned. Erika came over and served there and the food was great but hard to enjoy since I was so upset. read more
Decided to stop at this diner across from Gulfstream Park after a night out. I have to say that I was quite impressed. We had a pretty big group and were greeted and seated pretty quickly. Our service was top notch. Our waiter came to take our orders and helped everyone with recommendations from the menu. Everyone seemed to really enjoy their food. Our waiter continued to check in on us and made sure that everyone had anything they needed. This was a great find and I really enjoyed the food. Much better than some of the other chains that are open late. I definitely know where I will be stopping the next time I am in the area. read more
BEST Matzo Ball soup!!! Great Alfred Hitchcock fish & chips. Deliciously marinated Lums Original Ollie Burger. Great diner, and open 24 hours. That pretty much sums it up. It's on my Top 3 Favorite Diners' List in South Florida. They have Wi-Fi, which is great, too! They also recently added flat-screen t.v.s to some booths, which is loner-friendly. I do remember once getting a chicken sandwich with stale bread, but I've been going there for years, so one out of who knows how many, isn't bad. Most recently I went for late Thanksgiving dinner -- long story -- and the Thanksgiving menu was surprisingly better than at many other non-diner restaurants. Besides the Matzo Ball soup, their Mushroom Barley and Navy Bean soups are great. I'm not crazy about their cakes for dessert, but I remember having a slice of pumpkin cheesecake that was great. The Alfred Hitchcock Fish & Chips is probably my favorite dish. I always have it with mashed potatoes and turkey gravy on the side. It comes with nice garlic toast, and the fish is fresh. I've ordered it many times. It's consistently great. Their Lums Original Ollie Burger is great tasting, since they marinate it in a gazillion spices (for flavor, but it's not spicy/hot at all). The only thing I don't like is that they don't serve steak fries, so you have to order crinkle fries (which I hate) or seasoned fries. They have tons of parking. No matter at what time you go, there will almost always be people. read more
Called ahead for a table for 3 around 11am. We were able to get seated within 5min. They are social distancing with every other table and QR code menus. There are plenty of menu options from breakfast to lunch. We were able to order promptly and our waitress was very sweet. We sat and waited for our food for 40min and only one out of three meals arrived. The waitress said "things are coming as they're coming so I didn't want this to get cold." My hash was delicious with melted cheese and fresh peppers. Unfortunately, I had to eat my meal completely before my friends got their food, which was 2 deli sandwiches! The waitress brought meals out to a table next to us who was seated AFTER we ordered. The waitress avoided us and didn't return with any type of explanation. After 20min my friend went up to the hostess stand to ask for the manager and when she arrived at our table had an attitude with us asking if we had a problem! The audacity! She gave us a bunch of excuses like the hash was easier/faster to make, short staffed, etc. She said the meal would be taken care of but at the end of the meal she still charged me for my hash and made my two friends pay for their beverages-very petty! This is my third or fourth time coming to one of their locations. It's my second time at the US 1 location. I think it'll be my last. I was absolutely let down. I ordered the chicken and waffles. I didn't finish the meal. The chicken was extra crispy for some reason and not in a good way. The chicken also lacked flavor. The waffle also lacked flavor. My mother in law got uncooked bacon on her plate. The only thing that was good was the coffee. They also need to do a deep clean. The corners of the booths are filthy. And the seat cushions are sinking in. read more

The staff at this joint is what makes it a great place. Old school wait staff who belong in a New York deli. They move fast and are attentive. Every night this week there has been a line up out the door, for over sized dishes that are just what you'd expect from a diner. The deserts are massive, so share it with a friend. read more

I found this diner on the way to Hallandale Beach, Fort Lauderdale. The diner was adorned with older celebrities in framed photos and posters. I had a late breakfast after noon. Great service. I ordered the egg white power omelette- chicken, veggies, topped with salsa and avocado and came with home fries/hash browns and a bagel or toast. I couldn't eat it all! Very satisfying food that was cooked perfectly. I had the perfect combination of healthy and comfort food. My huge breakfast was just under $14. There are cheaper places to eat. This place will was fine for a very hungry appetite. read more

The most important place to eat at after being out all night! Lol. Everything is amazing! The Belgian waffle with fresh strawberries and whip cream is my favorite! Everything I've ate is so good here! If you've been debating or just looking for a home cook meal, flashback is your place!!! read more

Really nice place and it has an old school theme. Our food was sooo yummy but very big order! It's lots of food so go really hungry! The service was great! We got the bacon pancakes and the Floridian omelet which were both oh so yummy! They have lots of desserts but didn't get to try any because we were too full. Lol. Will try next time though. read more

I've been coming here for years and it has never disappointed me. I mainly get breakfast but the appetizers and entree selections I've had are all exceptional. They always have great selections for soup also. The service is also top notch even during busy times. I highly recommend it. read more

A friend who lives in the neighborhood likes this place and we decided to try it after a late night movie in Aventura. I had my eyes on the Country Hash, my boyfriend had the country fried steak in its entirety, and my other friend had the Oreo cheesecake. My steak was tasty which was awesome and you can't go wrong with two eggs made the way you like with a bowl of potato's. Their hash wasn't bad, done well if basic but it was a great combination overall. I also had the steak without gravy since I'm not a fan but I still enjoyed the taste of the steak at its basic. It was thin, the breading didn't slip off and it was seasoned well. My boyfriend enjoyed his country fried steak, gravy and all and the Oreo cheesecake we had a bite of was nice! Though we did get a tip from my friend that the chicken salad is a no here along with the meatloaf apparently. But other than that I think try out the rest it seems it's all made pretty well. read more
