My boyfriend and I came here for Valentines' Day. It was our first visit and the buffet price was jacked up because it was (a) a holiday, (b) a weekend, (c) crab legs were included in the buffet. We also came late, maybe an hour before closing? Maybe even later? The food was okay on that visit, but lackluster and not worth the extra money on top of the already kinda pricy regular fare. But, lo and behold, our second visit on a nondescript Wednesday evening (6:30 pm maybe?) was much, much better. Our second visit was great! A moderately full dining room, but the food was constantly being refreshed and it all tasted great. The sushi was on point and the hibachi chef was pretty cool. They have a great selection, even for me being as I do not eat meat (but I do indulge in seafood). The salads were fresh and crisp (which is rare at a buffet in my experience). The desserts tasted like real food and the little Hershey's cups were delightful. The hibachi selection was fairly vast with a bunch of veggies, meats, and stuff. Wish the price was a little lower, but I'm willing to pay it as it is certainly the best buffet in the area. For a buffet, this place gets four stars, read on as to why I put three stars. It deserves four starts mostly because it doesn't make me violently ill when I leave like other buffets have. Food is decent from their wings to their seafood to their hibachi. The sushi looks good too but I never made it over to that area in my few times here. One thing I noticed was that you now have to pay extra for crab legs!!?? That's almost as obnoxious as the person who hovers and takes every crab leg at a buffet. the most disgusting place all around. on our way to being seated we passed heaps of cardboard boxes, cases of soda piled on top of chairs, and numerous dirty un-bussed tables. once being sat at our table, the hostess called over a waitress to sweep up the fragments of food and dirty napkins from under the table. a gross beginning, very telling of what was to come. silverware was not properly cleaned. our booth was sticky. it was so dark in the restaurant, probably so that you wouldn't see the filth in the restaurant. there was a large selection of items on the buffet but none of them were hot. there were quite a few un-labeled and weird items up there as well... i picked up an item off of the dessert bar and found that it was a jumbo marshmallow that was covered in shredded coconut. unripe pineapple. burnt dumplings. burnt white rice. bland fried rice. congealed coconut shrimp. they also have signs everywhere about not taking more food than you will eat. what are you supposed to do when you put food on your plate that is inedible? my husband and i both felt sick during and after our meal. it didn't help seeing the $40 bill after the worst meal of our lives. save yourself from this place read more

Went with friends back in late January. Food is all right and what's expected of a chinese buffet. I had to take off a star because I tried the mongolian barbecue station and the guy cooking it placed several orders on the hibachi, which is completely fine, but then used the same cooking chop sticks to stir someone's order with raw meats and raw shrimp and then went back to stirring my order that was almost fully cooked with just vegetables and noodles. Went here for a quick dinner, as I was craving Chinese food. The price for a weekend dinner was $14.99, but I've come here before and the food has always been above average. Tonight was the complete opposite. I asked the waiter for water, and went to the buffet area to grab a plate. Looking at the selections, all of the food looked like it had been sitting out for hours on end. The hibachi chicken had a slimey glaze to it and the stuffed shrimp was sitting in a pile of grease; the majority of the trays were close to empty. I decided to try the fresh-cooked hibachi in the back, hoping that the buffet would be replenished shortly. The food in the hibachi area is meant to be raw, as the cook throws it on the grill with a sauce of your choice. But, all of the meats were sitting out at room temperature?? Can you say health code violation? At this point, I was quickly losing my appetite. Upon returning to my table, the waitress had left a pot of hot water on the table! I didn't know when you ask for water as a beverage you have to specify it to be cold. The hibachi was so over cooked, I just poked around to try to find edible pieces. I then returned to the buffet to see that nothing had changed. Not to mention, a kid was reaching his hand directly into the chocolate fountain. This is my absolute "go to" place for lunch on work days! From the teppanyaki on one side of the room to the sushi on the other side it is great. I must admit I don't dine on the "American" food much, what I have had I've liked. There is Zero fancy stuff here, it is a budget buffet after all. The only negative thing I could say is the staff is very stone faced and not terribly customer friendly. I very much recommend them for lunch. (I haven't tried them for anything else.) read more

Was great when it first opened, however has deteriorated in last few months. Selection has reduced, especially noticeable with Sushi, missing asparagus, lychee and several other items especially at lunchtime. Evening buffet also lacking items and not refreshed frequently enough. This was especially noticeable when they had salmon in evening sushi buffet, but put out so few pieces that they were gone every time I looked. Time to find a better option, unless they revert to the selection they had when they first opened. Finally they no longer have green tea but an almost black tea that is bitter and undrinkable. Their price is so cheap so that you cant complain. I had huge salad and it was already enough for the price! $11.95 for sunday all day and weekend is even cheaper. The best part of this place was Hibachi and Hushey's ice cream. They make your own hibachi and you can choose meat and veggies and they cook it for you. Mine was really good and I had 2 plates of it with bunch of veggies. I was on my way back from AC to NY and was craving fresh veggies and this was such a perfect dish for meal including salad bar section since I only ate so greasy food in AC. All the food was fresh and hot! The place is very clean. The price is reasonable: All you can eat for $12 on the weekend, less during the week. You can get everything from sushi to macaroni & cheese, plus deserts. The only low point? The hibachi. Don't waste your time or the food because you'll find the steak and chicken to be of low quality and cooked beyond all recognition -- presumably to ensure they're not giving anyone food poisoning! So, 4 stars out of 5 because of the Hibachi and the service, which is that of mild contempt if you ask for anything, like water, and they hover around waiting for you to leave. Forget that Japanese Airline commercial attitude -- this is strictly a "don't talk to me" attitude. I place myself where I can't see them staring me down and just ignore them. Follow buffet rules and you'll be fine: Arrive around 12 for lunch and 6 for dinner to ensure they have made fresh food for the rush and don't bother paying for sodas --just get the free water -- it tastes fine here. For a buffet place, the inside is really nice! I am giving this place a 3 for now after my first visit. I think they are still working out the kinks and I will try it again soon to see if it has improved. Now if I am rating this Chinese Buffet against the area competitors, this place wins hand down. There is a vast array of options for dinner and dessert and everything I tried was decent but I came for the sushi and the hibachi. Here is why they lost a star in the rating. There was hardly any sushi prepared so I went and ate the hibachi while I waited for the sushi to be replenished. The offerings at the hibachi had also been depleted and not yet replaced so I had to settle for what was left. Regardless of that the taste was great! The other disappointment was I went back to the sushi, figuring they would have more out but there was still nothing to eat. I left without the opportunity to really try much of the sushi. The quality of the food I ate was good, the place is nice and table service was quick and good. They are also cheap! You may be tempted to check this place out because of the pics on their website and references to being a "Supreme" buffet but this is middle of the road as Chinese buffets go. Decent selection of the usual suspects including General Tso's chicken, coconut shrimp, cream cheese wontons, and garlic string beans. The "Americanized" section is pretty sparse with fried shrimp, french fries, spare ribs, and some others. We went on a weekday night and they served small whole crabs, not sure if snow crab legs are offered on the weekends. The hibachi option is a nice touch but the sushi is below par. Anywhere that puts lettuce into their rolls is really stretching it thin. Desert and fruit selections are mediocre. Service and ambiance aren't half bad but nothing over the top. If you're looking to quench a quick, afforable Chinese buffet fix then I'd stop by, otherwise your money is best spent elsewhere. read more

WOW! This place is terrific. I can't believe the amount and selection of food in such a clean environment. The staff is quick to take you empty plate and refill your drink. Service was absolutely terrible!! There website said they closed at 10, my husband, my son and I came in at 8 o'clock. We were rushed throughout our whole meal and in the middle of eating we were brought our check and asked if we wanted anything else because they were trying to close up. Our waitress did NOT walk away until we signed the check which was extremely uncomfortable, we were pushed out at about 9:20. I then asked what time they closed knowing the real time and I got an awkward respond of "uhm we are closing early." My family and I will NOT be returning here! I've been waiting for this buffet to open, notably for two reasons. One, there's no decent buffets in the area anymore, unless you want to schlep down to Toms River (and even that one is showing its age). Two, this place is right down the street from me. First off, for a buffet - this place is damned swanky. The foyer is lit in blue, and has water-filled glass that bubbles upwards, the buffet is lit overhead by blue lights (buffet food is lit by white, don't worry), and the entire restaurant just screams "modern". The sushi section is gigantic and had probably the best prepared / most varied rolls that I've ever seen outside of a Japanese restaurant. I can't speak for their quality in terms of flavor since I don't eat seafood, but if they taste anything remotely like how they look, it should be decent. There's even seaweed salads to compliment it. Sushi aside, the rest of the buffet is also huge, spanning several large sections with all sorts of stuff that ranges from your typical Chinese food, to BBQ ribs and chicken, meat pies, tons of seafood, etc - picky eaters shouldn't have a problem. Along the back is a Hibachi section which I also was fairly impressed by, since the raw meats appeared to actually be marinated / seasoned, with plenty of variety for you to pick from. The hibachi chefs are well trained too, you just tell them how you want it cooked (spicy, sweet, garlic, etc) and they do it for you, so it takes the guesswork out of how much sauce to use, something I'm always terrible at. Even the dessert section is pretty impressive, with actual cakes and fresh cookies, instead of the out-of-the-box garbage that's typical for buffets. The ice cream section was even more impressive, and was filled with single-serve containers of Hershey's ice cream, water ice, and even those awesome strawberry shortcake and eclair ice cream bars. The quality of the food? Pretty good, for a buffet. None of the meat that I had was dry or overcooked, most items were nice and hot (one item was a little on the cold side), and the sauces were flavorful. Service was top notch, I don't think my cup ever ran dry. The best part? Even on a Sunday night, the dinner buffet is just $12, a pretty solid bargain considering the sheer amount of food they have. A well deserved 5 stars, if you ask me. For a buffet, I don't think it gets much better than this, and I'll almost certainly be coming back at some point soon. read more

Okay, I'm impressed. Really- Bravo. The minute I saw the sign go up, I anticipated the opening. I can't get enough since. The prices are inexpensive (weekday lunch $7.39, yes please!) and what you get is the real deal. A huge selection of hot foods, sushi, and hibachi. At buffets, I usually pick on each of the things I have. Kind of like a box of cheap chocolates- take one bite and then forget about it. At Flaming Grill, I never left a thing on my plate. Everything was honestly phenomenal. My husband is a tough critic, and he was thrilled. He sat there and told me he was actually "upset that he was full" because the food was so good and he wanted more. He said that's unusual for a buffet (admit it!). My other friend (of course I've been more than once) said "wait, the foods pretty hot, I'll try that in a second." Then took a second and said "did I just say that my food was too hot at a buffet? That's a first". Simply put, this place is ace. It's going to put the other buffet in Brick out of business if they keep doing what they're doing. And when word spreads, they'll be taking some of Toms Rivers business too, since that's where we'd go previously, but now we have an awesome-sauce and affordable buffet in our backyard. They are clean, have extremely friendly staff with fantastic service (my drink was never empty), and the food is just really damn good. Oh, and the dessert has an array of real cakes and Hershey ice cream bars and dixie cups. The best. Oh, and that girl with the 1 star review has no idea what she is talking about. Loved coming here. The food was hot and fresh, the place was clean and the variety is amazing. I loved their sushi selection with so many great choices. My boyfriend and both of our fathers tried the hibachi and all 3 raved about how good it was. They also have a good variety of staple foods for kids. And the dessert section is fabulous! I love the individual wrapped ice creams much better then the self serve stations offered at most buffets. It's easier and way more sanitary in my opinion. They also have amazing cakes etc here. I don't usually frequent these Asian buffet places since it's so hard to get good quality when mass producing food that sits under heating lamps. But every once in a while it's nice when you feel like sampling a little of everything and don't want to pay a fortune at the local Chinese take-out place. I've had better food at some of the buffet places in North Jersey and outside of Philly. Even in our area, the buffet place by Marquee theaters in Toms River had better tasting food (although it's been a few years since I last ate there). The saving grace of this establishment was their hibachi, which was quite good. The veggies available were all very fresh, and the several meat choices (shrimp, pork, chicken, and steak) were fresh from the fridge/freezer, and you could tell had not been sitting out for long at all. You even have the option of rice or three different varieties of noodles! Unfortunately, the rest of their food was pretty average at best. Even the typical Chinese lo mein and chicken & broccoli offerings weren't as good as what you get from the local take-out place. The sushi has a decent variety, and looks pretty good, but anyone who is familiar with good sushi will be left disappointed. Again, it's hard to get good quality at buffets, but places like Tokyo Hibachi in Freehold and Makkoli in New Brunswick manage to do it well. Soups tasted a little bland. I didn't try the crab legs, which they advertise as part of the dinner selection. Dessert, however, had a surprisingly large assortment to choose from. Right next to the hibachi is a freezer full of different ice cream packages, including those delicious strawberry shortcake bars and ice cream sandwiches (which always remind me of childhood). They also have a few different cakes and cookies, along with the typical variety of fruits and jello to choose from. Attended a function here last weekend. It's standard buffet quality. More mediocre than decent. The food had quick turnover so I knew nothing was sitting out for too long. The standout was the Thai Chicken, which had a nice sauce. They had chocolate pudding next to raw mussels on the buffet, which was a bit bizarre. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE APPROACH! We have wanted to try the place for a while, showed up at 3:30. The person (Not the owner I assume) at the cashier desk, said we would have to pay the higher rate. because it was now 3:31. The place was totaly empty, lots of food out though. He turned away 2 adults and 2 children. I did not want today the higher rate on principle. (We are local by the way) not only will we NEVER GO THERE AGAIN we we will tell everyone to avoid the place Thats how not to build good customer relations. read more

Won't be going back here. Food is what you'd expect from a place like this, good variety but everything's a little disappointing once you taste it. Crab was really really dry and there were no crackers. Sushi was baaad and smelled fishy. Frozen ice cream cups had a sign saying .50¢ to-go. My unsweetened iced tea tasted powdered, I saw an employee wiping down the counters and letting the rag repeatedly touch the food, service was suspect, and I woke up at 4am this morning with intense gastrointestinal pain for a few hours. Any chance of coincidence is thrown out the window as I go into work today and a coworker says, good thing you didn't go out to lunch with us on Friday, I had intense stomach pain all weekend. We just left the food was very good, the price is excellent and the choices are numerous. If you can not find something you like then your difficult to please. Service was very attentive. We have no complaints. We did not see crab legs but we do not normally eat those at our local buffet.
