I LOVE LOVE LOVE Gai Noi! Definitely one of my favorite spots. I went with a group of girls, and we…read moreshared a handful of dishes so we could try a little bit of everything. I honestly loved it all! Every dish is packed with flavor and has such a unique, authentic taste. I would definitely recommend the Basil Wings, Drunken Noodles, and Shaken Beef -- all three were SO good! On top of the amazing food, the service is always great, and I absolutely love the ambiance and decor. Such a fun spot and one I'll continue coming back to!

I love this place and this is not my first time and felt that the lunch special did not live up to my expectations. We stayed on the 2nd floor which is a great green space in the city. I always love the ambiance here. I had the Gai Basil chicken lunch special and I felt that everything was prepped even before I ordered and generally my food was lukewarm at best. The coleslaw didn't look appetising at all, but it did taste good. It was very cilantro forward. I also expected it to have the fried egg as Thai basil chicken should but I suppose that was cut out for lunch. My friend had the Panang spaghetti lunch special which she said was pretty good. I will stick to the main menu next time. Service was ok, they probably have less staff at this time, I feel like no one was making eye contact when we needed to find someone until our server was in view.

I was in Minneapolis for a work trip and found this spot while searching for some Asian food nearby…read moreand I am SOOOO glad I did. First of all, the restaurant is super cute. It has this tropical and airy vibe with a bunch of plants everywhere. It's partially open air with indoor seating too. I sat at the bar and they had all the windows open and the whole atmosphere was just perfect. It's a Vietnamese fusion spot and apparently a James Beard Award winner which I can definitely understand after eating here. To start the bartender recommended the shrimp toast so I ordered that along with the sweet corn wontons. The shrimp toast was SO interesting!!! It was like a shrimp mousse on toast. I honestly loved it but fair warning, it was reaaaally spicy with the fresh jalapeños on top. Still so good though I pushed through. The sweet corn wontons were AMAZING. They came in this super flavorful broth that I drank by itself after. For dessert, I tried their version of mango sticky rice, which was probably one of the most interesting things I had. They don't actually use rice and instead use this jell-o??? but somehow you still get all the flavors of mango sticky rice. So different and SO delicious. My fav of the night! For drinks I tried with the Life Aquatic which was a mezcal cocktail with cucumber and it was smoky, refreshing and overall just amazing. Then I asked for a lychee martini which wasn't even on the menu but they attempted to make one for me anyway. 10/10 execution because it was also amazing! I was genuinely impressed by everything...the food, drinks, atmosphere and the service. They even gave me a little taste of their slushies to try at the end which were super tasty too. Who knows when I'll be back in Minneapolis but I genuinely would come back just to have another meal here. That's how good it was!

The space can be a little cramped inside, but the service is great. This most recent time we ordered 6 dishes as a group of 4 and all left stuffed. I truly cannot pick a favorite, because I loved every dish.

Had an incredible meal at Khaluna! The service with our…read morewaitress Annie throughout our visit was fantastic. Our waitress was extremely attentive and gave us several wonderful recommendations that guided our entire order. Everything we tried was memorable: - Basil Wings: Hands down my favorite of the small plates! The chicken came out piping hot, fresh, and perfectly crispy with great flavor. - Salmon Eggs Benedict: Beautifully poached eggs over rich, flavorful salmon patties (pan fried) gave it a nice crunch with the egg and English muffin. - Coffee Crunch French Toast: A delicious blend of sweet and coffee. The French toast is seasonal and was definitely something I would get again. It was just the right amount of sweetness. - Duck Congee: Comforting and savory. The duck meat basically fell off the bone. Overall, a top-tier dining experience with phenomenal food and warm, knowledgeable service. The vibe had a great atmosphere. Can't wait to go back!

I came here for a work dinner and my favorite Minneapolis foodie booked the restaurant…read more I was so excited to try this place since I have a Laotian friend and he swears by the food! I quickly browsed the menu a week before but was so excited to see the space and order dinner and a few drinks. Right when you come in the doors, it feels like you're transported to a completely different area. The decor is absolutely beautiful and the indoor outdoor living and seating was something out of this world this place is a must see and must try food. The service is quick and everyone is there to help. So my Laotian friend told me that I needed to order the Siin Swan as an appetizer and then the New York strip Laab with sticky rice since that's like their traditional meal. We also ordered these the basil wings that was served with this amazing spicy tomato paste and then for the entrées we did a green curry octopus that was cooked to perfection. I've never had octopus like that before. We also ordered the duck fried rice and the Massann curry everything was so delicious. We were wanting more, but we were so full. We took one quick look at the dessert menu and we had to order the pistachio cake again absolutely phenomenal, fantastic flavor and the crunch of the pistachio was perfect. I cannot wait to come back here and tell everybody about this place to make sure that they come here when they're in Minneapolis area.

Maybe the best Thai food place in the Twin Cities metro so far, because ever since I got introduced…read moreto this place in mid-July, I have been back 4 times since then and have catered from them for my birthday gathering that happened at the end of August, so it is easy to see how impressed I was with their food. Among all the dishes I have tried, some of my favorites include the crab fried rice, the panang curry, the tom yum soup, the mango sticky rice, the masaman curry, and the chicken wings. Particularly, the crab fried rice got my attention because it was significantly more expensive than the other fried rice dishes, so I knew there was a reason for that and ordered the dish. It was super flavorful and the real crab meat including the claws were evident, and it wasn't clumpy at all, indicating that they used rice that was at least a day old. The panang curry was so savory that the ground peanuts just elevated the flavor and gave it that much creaminess texture. The masaman had a good amount of onions, tomatoes, potatoes, and roasted peanuts, and offered a comprehensively pleasant experience. The mango sticky rice was as good as that dish itself could be, because the dessert creation was simply fire. And finally, the chicken wings had incredibly soft meat and was seasoned inside out which made them really tasty. I would say the only dishes I didn't enjoy as much was the pad see yew which I thought had too much soy sauce because it was a bit salty. I also thought the pad thai didn't have enough tamarind and a bit too much palm sugar, but honestly that's with Thai food here in the United States in general. Regardless, the food here is just too good and this establishment may have just become my go-to spot for Thai food within the metro if I am to hang out with my friends over Thai food. I must also mention that the space is really nice because it bright and has many tables which makes it easy to hang out with friends and chat here, and I thoroughly love that.

Honestly, haven't had a bad dish! Make sure you specify the spice level you want when ordering. We typically order for pickup, but have eaten in the restaurant a couple times. Service and atmosphere are fine. But pickup is super convenient for a yummy meal at home and prices are very reasonable. Portion sizes are enough for leftovers the next day. One of my local favorites and will definitely keep coming back.
