Four of us had a first visit to Flames yesterday. I walked in and told Michael that we had heard very good things about the restaurant and that he should not disappoint! Well, we were not disappointed with anything...the ambiance, the food and the attention to our needs. The bread was outstanding and the olive oil was very, very tasty. Our chicken dinners were delicious and presented attractively. We enjoyed cappuccino and carrot cake. We finished with homemade sambucco that was the smoothest I've ever had. Both food and service: Excellent. We had bang bang shrimp and Arancini for appetizer. They were delicious. For entrees we had veal martini and eggplant rollatini. There was a slightly different slant to the recipe for both these dependable entrees. We both loved our dinners! The ambiance is lovely. And even with the rustic brick wall, it was not too noisy! Went go drinks and apps- friends I joined also stayed for dinner (and also weren't thrilled...). Wine pour chintzy. Then came the apps. Meatballs - TWO, not very large, cut in half. Total pleatballs,, tasted like the pre-made frozen ones I once bought at Stop and Shop, and completely underwhelming sauce... $10. As if that wasn't enough of a waste of money, I also got the eggplant which was utterly inedible. I have heard so many rave reviews and I would try again, but for the cheap wine pour. Flames is amazing! They have such great dishes ranging from Portuguese to Italian! The owners are so kind and accommodating to their guests. I personally love the salmon and the mushroom ravioli! My wife and I recently had dinner at Flames Restaurant, which recently had its soft opening. The experience was awesome. We first got to meet the owner Michael, who is the owner. He was very professional and welcomed us to Flames. Our server, Jeannette, was terrific. She was very friendly, knowledgable about the menu, and provided excellent service. Clearly, Flames also has a terrific chef, as the food we had was outstanding. I had the branzino, which was the best branzino I have ever had. It was an excellent sized fish, perfectly cooked, served piping hot and delicious. Not only that, Flames has figured out a way to remove the skin on the bottom of the branzino before it is served, which typically has to be removed by the customer after the fish is served. In addition, when I have fish, I always request when I place my order to have some lemons accompany my meal. I can't tell you how many times I have asked for lemons only to be disappointed that I have not been provided any by the time the meal is served. But this time, I received my lemons when my entree was served. My wife had the chicken piccata. It was also perfectly cooked, served piping hot and delicious. Based upon our initial experience with Flames, we plan to make it a regular place for us to have dinner. We highly recommend Flames as well. read more

We went on a busy Friday night in early March 2024 and had reservations. There were 4 of us and we all enjoyed our meals. Huge portions. We ordered Cowboy Steak, Chicken Piccata, Chicken Martini and a Short Rib special. Great food and drinks. Service was excellent especially water service. We ordered two desserts creme brulee and xango banana caramel. We are going back tonight. The food is delicious. Big portions, but not too big, and great flavor. A few favorites for my family: Chicken Martini, chicken parm, and the veal saltimbocca, but everything on the menu is high quality. Aside from the food being excellent, the service is above and beyond. Everything was great from the ambiance, to the service, to the food. We had a party of 4 and intentionally ordered 4 different entrees and 4 different desserts. The entrees were seafood risotto, cowboy steak, ziti, and chicken piccata - all delicious and we each tried them all. We all liked crab cakes so we all had the same appetizer- also delicious. We came here on a recommendation, otherwise we'd probably not have tried it. It's changed hands/names so many times over the years, and I had no idea it's an upscale Italian restaurant now... We were very pleasantly surprised. Very attentive staff, including the owner and his son. It's refreshing to see the owner/manager in a restaurant actually working the tables. Food was great. Got a small, complimentary cocktail as it was our anniversary, and little candles which arrived with our dessert were a nice touch. We'll definitely come back. read more

We decided to try Flames because it was owned by the same people as a restaurant called Mulino's that was our favorite restaurant for years until it closed down. When we entered the owner remembered us and was as gracious as before. The food was excellent and not just parts of it, even the vegetables I had with my perfectly cooked steak were noteworthy. We have been to Flames many times now. It is our go to. We love introducing those who have not been, to this wonderful restaurant! We have tried various menu items and are never disappointed! My wife and I just completed our third visit to Flames restaurant in Monroe CT and I need to write a review now. A table or booth in the bar area is really nice for us - we prefer a lively informal atmosphere and Flames bar area is very pleasant / comfortable. During our 2 previous visits, we have ordered pastas and fish dishes - and they have been consistently good. This time - we started with dirty martinis ( bar does a good job with them ). And with this visit - I noticed that the Steak options were very fairly priced, and my wife and I both ordered the Filet Mignon dinners (after splitting a nice Caprese salad appetizer). The owner came over to help with our "doneness" decisions ...... I went with medium rare and my wife wanted medium (from my experience - harder to get right than medium rare). Both steaks were done perfectly, and the sides were also executed very well. Wine selections are good ..... and also reasonably priced. We had a very good meal, great service, with a pleasant ambiance. We will be back for more. read more

Stopped by here for lunch. Expectations were high due to all of the five star ratings. Glad to say that expectations were exceeded. The decor has been mildly updated from the last several iterations that failed here. Inner partition behind bar was removed and set with tables as it appears to be a restaurant rather than a bar. My wife selected Veal Caprice which she raved about. The veal was fresh and perfectly cooked. I chose a chicken breast stuffed with spinach, cheese, mushrooms and spices. Excellent. Enjoyed a fried banana dessert that was also superb. The owner Michael/Meta was engaging and accommodating. Janette was our gregarious server and a pleasure to meet. Went there on Valentines Day. My wife ordered the Short Ribs over Pappardelle pasta and i ordered Filet Mignon with buttered spinach and a scoop of mashed potatoes. We went there for dinner on a Friday night shortly after it opened. The food was good and the service was great. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming. Only negative is that it didn't have a fun vibe. The music in the background was awful and the place was not very full or lively. We will try again after it was been open a little longer and is more established. read more

No a good first impression due to restaurant's staff were not friendly at all. Bartender did not let us try one of the beers from the menu, he said that the tap on that particular beer was not working. We order a green soap It WAS HORRIBLE it would be better if it came from a can, honestly. The grill octopus was chewy and not flavor at all. Remember the Bartender after we have experienced that vibe and ordered...somehow he realized we weren't happy, he gave us the speech of welcoming.....to late... we already dislike the place so badly that I won't change my mind or go back to that $%#@&.. First time here tonight for my birthday. From the moment we walked in - the service was excellent. The host made sure we had a perfect table. The waitress was delightful, offering alternative to food choices and checking on us after every food delivery. The ambiance was relaxing and I loved their music choice. The food was delicious! I am usually too full to have dessert but they had such a great variety, I couldn't resist. Then they said, since it was my birthday they said it was on the house. Had dinner with friends here last night, can't say enough good things about it. 1st, loved the holiday decor! Hostess was so welcoming and efficient. Then our server, Georgina was the absolute best. The owner checked in frequently to make sure everything was spot on. Our drinks, appetizers and entrees were delicious. One of us started with the seafood platter, fresh shrimp, oysters, he kept commenting how it's the best he's had. Then the owner shared homemade limoncello and Sambuca to finish the meal.
