When I was driving through the streets of Tulsa, I thought I was hallucinating when I saw a Flame Broiler. I'm from Southern California aka the land of the Flame Broilers. Since I've been away from home for two weeks, I have been missing SoCal food a lot. I knew that I had to stop by Flame Broiler to get a taste of home. I got the half-and-half like I always do. The rice bowls here are always good and I guess relatively healthy. It was very nostalgic to be able to eat a chicken and beef bowl from FB while out here in Tulsa. However, on a small note, this Flame Broiler seems to have significantly smaller portion size than the Flame Broilers in SoCal (in SoCal, the meat is towered over the top of the bowl - to the point that the meat gets squished down when the lid is put on!) and the rice was a little bit more on the dry side here. I think that I'm being highly critical since I've been spoiled in California. read more

Pros: husband and the kids love this place. Nothing is fried and veggies accompany the meal. I've got no complaints. Plenty of parking. Accepts credit cards. Fast fast fast service. Just tried the angus beef bowl recently, and I was pleasantly surprised! The meat is flavored well, so you don't need the extra sauce (although i got a hearty amount on the side), and you can taste the char of the grill on the meat itself! Will be stopping by again soon. read more

Okay, to begin with, I never heard of The Flame Broiler and never noticed it though I've driven by TGIF which used to be next door many times. I was killing some time sitting in my car in the Barnes and Noble parking lot waiting to meet my wife for lunch but didn't know yet where we were going. I just happened to glance up and saw their sign. I pulled up Yelp saw their rating, checked out the menu and we decided to try it out. I'm glad we did. It's a small, order-at-the-counter type of place. There are several tables inside and some seating outside. It's a very clean place, with a big easy-to-read menu. There are rice bowls and plates with healthy choices. (Nutrition info is on their on-line menu). No trans fat, no MSG. Choices are Chicken, Half & Half, Angus Beef and Tofu. They have soft drinks, iced tea (regular and rasberry), Acai infused vitamin water, etc. They give you a number and the food comes out almost before you can find a seat. At the silverware and condiments bar, they have many seasonings, including their "Magic Sauce" which is excellent. All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The only drawback is that it can get pretty loud when busy, but for a quick, reasonably priced place to grab a bite, this should definitely be on your list. read more

I first had Flame Broiler when I was a living in California. It is a healthy option for chicken, beef, etc bowls. I enjoy coming to this chain because it is always consistent and I do not feel bad after eating here. They have a lot of different options available for customers and they list all the different nutrients in their dishes. You can add their magic sauce to your food along with their version of hot sauce. The hot sauce isn't that hot but it brings in a different type of taste. I just had an amazing experience here. I had made a deposit in my bank account this morning and my bank app said the funds were available. So I stopped in and order lunch. Then my bank card was rejected. After calling the bank and being told that the bank app was lying to me and they hold funds for 24 hours. This wonderful place gave me the food anyway since I had no cash on me! They just told me to stop in and pay next time I was there. I can not believe people like this still exist. The service is unbelievably fast even when they are more crowded. The chicken veggie bowl is perfection. I add magic sauce (which is addicting!) and a little bit of the green hot sauce. Sometimes when I'm being "good" I order the chicken veggie bowl without rice. They're happy to make customizations. The menu is simple, but that's the genius of it. Good, simple food cooked right. And the ingredients are all natural so I don't feel guilty eating it! I love that they post the calorie counts, and anything on their menu will fit into just about any diet (in terms of calorie counting).
