The food here is great and reasonably priced for what you get. The Shakshuka Khachapuri was amazing - my only regret was not ordering my own instead of splitting it. Also highly recommend the Za'Atar Fries with Tahina Ketchup - wow. The hummus comes with a great portion, so it is perfect for sharing between multiple people, and the homemade pitas are delicious. Unfortunately, they forgot to give us our Salatim dishes in our takeout order, but when I called they couldn't have been nicer - they took it off our bill of course and sent us a $10 gift card to use on our next carryout, which was a nice touch in terms of "making it right." We were supposed to eat in the bubbles outside for my fiancé's birthday, but they called the day before to let me know it would be unbearably cold to sit outside for dinner...instead they offered me 20% off my takeout order, which I thought was very generous. We will definitely be ordering takeout from Fiya again and hopefully safely eating there in the future :) Great customer service & food. read more

Went for an early dinner on a Saturday night and was seated right away! The tables were spaced out really nicely and we felt like all staff was taking COVID precautions very seriously. We had the chickpea hummus, Moroccan fish, and the khachapuri. I have celiac and was well-accommodated with gluten free pita bread for my meal. The cocktails were delicious too! We will definitely be back very soon. read more

Really, really, really great. Service, food, ambiance, price, all lovely. Plenty of vegetarian items too! A much needed new energy for Andersonville. :) read more

Wonderful new refresh on this spot, the patio is excellent, the service was top notch and the food was excellent. Everything we tried was perfect. A new fave spot in Andersonville. read more

Order the cauliflower!! It is so worth it. The salty wood fire cook has an amazing flavor. I had it at the restaurant when that was possible, and the fresh char was amazing. It loses a little texture when you bring it home, but still delicious. read more

We have been to Fiya twice now and have loved every dish..the roasted cauliflower and whole chicken were delish! The service here is a huge miss unfortunately. Both times we've been they've forgotten to give us items we ordered. Takes forever to get drinks and the servers barely stop at your table - definitely not a welcoming or cozy vibe. read more

Food was good, not great. Service was ok. We were the only ones in the restaurant and it took a long time. Server was very nice. Hostess was pretty subpar and unfriendly. Seated us in plastic, uncomfortable chairs because we didn't have a reservation. No one showed up the entire time we were here. And there were plenty of more comfortable places she could have seated us. Probably won't be back. read more

The menu changed recently for the worse, removing one of my favorite items (cauliflower hummus) and apparently falafel sandwiches are no longer a thing? The hummus is aggressively bland. The falafel is good but comes as a side item only. read more

Michelle the manager is the life saver that gives this place five stars. Some really rude people work there but superstar Michelle came to rescue! Chicken can be dream when made with lots of lemon. read more

We sat on their beautiful patio. Staff was safe. The food was out of this world. Hummus was some of the best I've had, and you get a lot of bang for your buck. Also try the khachapuri! I'll definitely be back soon! read more

Service was super slow for drinks and app. Plus only one pita to share app with. LoL. Two of the employees sitting at bar playing on computer. Completely ignoring us. Never checked in on us etc. another couple got up and left because they weren't being tended to. Did I mention two people on their computer?? would like to try other things on the menu, but not to sure if this would be on the top of the list to come back although they seemed nice enough. read more

I struggle with this. When it first opened, during the pandemic, the food was fresh and vibrant. A real homerun. But we've been there 3 more times since and with diminishing results. The previous time from last, my friend and I were told that almost half the menu was "out" leaving me to order the boring whitefish, my 4th choice. But I wanted to give them another try. So we had a friend with food issues and thought this would be a good place for that. What we got as food that appeared like the chef had left and the cooks were now running the kitchen. What wasn't super bland (most of the vegetarian options including the head of cauliflower that tasted like the microwaved or steamed way ahead of time, then tossed some tumeric on and ran it under the fire for 3 minutes) was bone dry. The whole chicken was so old and dry tasting it sucked the saliva out of our mouths. I know the par cook some things, but you can't over par cook or let it sit too long. Half the meal basically felt like underseasoned leftovers. Thank god for the side sauces. read more

went for a late dinner w no reservations and got seated quickly. our bartender was pretty slow and inattentive but the drinks were good. we had some apps and shared a few mains, which were all very delicious. definitely want to explore the menu more. the khachapuri was absolutely amazing and the best part for sure. hummus and pita great as well, and the za'tar fries were super flavorful. read more

Four of us came for brunch on a Saturday morning right when the restaurant opened - we were the first ones seated. Everything was great. We split hummus with chickpea and hard egg to start. Three out of the four us got the shakshuka (after scrolling through all sorts of Instagram and Yelp content to try and decide, couldn't pass up on such a staple) and the fourth person got the steak and eggs. All of the food was hot, tasty, and really good portions. The pita with the hummus and the pita croutons with the shakshuka rocked. I really wanted to try the Jerusalem breakfast but sadly couldn't convince anyone to split it with me. A few tables around us ordered it and it looked great. Next time! Our waitress was also outstanding - she was so on top of checking on us and making sure the food came out together! It was our first time at Fiya but will likely not be our last. read more

Just tried Fiya for the first time this evening and it's out of this world. What a great addition to the neighborhood! We ordered the hummus with beef and pomegranate and it comes with homemade pita that is so soft and fluffy I could use it as a pillow. It's some of the best hummus I've had and it comes with fried potatoes slices which are absolutely delicious. The roasted Cauliflower was extremely special and I would highly recommend it. There is a fantastic back patio and the staff is super friendly and helpful. Loved it. read more

I want to like this restaurant, as I like to see all restaurants succeed, particularly those in my neighborhood. I probably will go back to Fiya at some point to see if last night was just an "off" night. But when my craft beer was served in an 8-ounce plastic cup, and my partner's martini in the same, I politely asked if it was because there is a street fair outside (we were seated at a table, ordering a meal). No, it's how they do it, the waiter told us. Um, ok. (Neither of us ordered a small size so I'm not sure why that's what we got.) I also requested vinegar to go with the chips and was told that would not be possible. I looked it up this morning, vinegar is used quite a bit in Levant food. That said, the food was tasty and interesting. But seriously, 8-ounce plastic cup beverages with dinner? read more

The Service: Fiya is incredible and I could not sing the praises higher of Michelle who assisted my husband and I from start to finish in planning a small intimate family wedding celebration on the patio. Michelle assisted us in coordinating the food arrangements and answered every question we had promptly. On the morning of the party when it looked like rain, Michelle called us to work thorugh a backup plan that acoomodated our group. When it looked like the weather would remain clear, she promptly moved everything back on the patio in time for our guests to arrive and feel welcomed. The Food: 10 out of 10. There was something for everybody and every single dish was delicious. The Chicken was falling off the bone it was so tender and we had never had side dishes go faster because everybody wanted more. My husband and I eat at Fiya all the time but with a range of family dietary restrictions and preferences, we knew Fiya would find a delightful way to make sure everybody had the perfect dish. read more

Not impressed. I will...MIGHT...give them another shot in a few months once they get it together. Very limited food options and things not really thought out all the way through. Atmosphere? Outdoor patio is fantastic, but not changed from when it was Jerry's. Same with the inside of the restaurant. The only difference I saw was a nice blue paint job on the outside. Also, was disappointed that restrooms had hand operated soap dispensers and faucets. After being closed for months and opening in the midst of a pandemic, touch-free options should have been installed. Just shows lack of operating in the best interest of patrons and staff. Food? Very limited options in my opinion. The pita bread, hummus and roasted cauliflower were fantastic. We ordered an appetizer sampler with pita, hummus, cauliflower, roasted peppers and something else. It was served with 1 pita - ONE! We were a party of 5, but regardless of the party size, don't be stingy with the pita. The roasted chicken was disappointing. $25 for a puny chicken that was overly smoky. We would have been happier with a rotisserie bird from the market. Drinks? Don't get me started. Drink orders took forever and were wrong every time. The specialty cocktails were great, mixed with what I believe were local, craft booze. The problem? No known brand liquors for those not ordering from the specialty cocktail list? No Belvedere, Grey Goose or even Kettle One here. In my opinion, unacceptable in this neighborhood. And you if wanted a vodka martini with olives, forget it. No olives. No olives? At a Mediterranean restaurant? They weren't simply out of them, they don't ever have them, according to our server. Bizarre... Anyway, I wish them the very best of luck, but I don't see it. Maybe if they make some changes and appeal to more of what people want. It can be done pretty easily without upsetting the integrity of their "concept". read more

The pitas were amazing; fluffy, soft and warm, came with the eggplant hummus- good to share between 3people, ordered extra pita. The lamb meatballs had a subtle anise flavor, seasoned deliciously. Our whitefish entree with cilantro pesto was yummy. Need to go back and try the chicken. Wine selection had unique selection, love that they carry different varietals. read more

Great service and probably the best mediterranean food I've had. Well done! We felt very safe and tended to during our afternoon visit there. read more

We were excited by the colorful atmosphere with the beautiful tiled oven and colorful walls. Food was underwhelming and ridiculously priced for what you get. Seriously go buy some chickpeas, tahini, cauliflower and sweet potatoes and look up a few recipes online and you can easily make this food at home. Heat your oven to 500 and roast your own vegetables. Or just go to your local Mediterranean/Middle Eastern restaurant for some much tastier hummus, falafel and kabobs and at much better prices and with more reasonable serving sizes. Two small dumplings in a broth soup for $14 was overpriced. Five small meatballs called lamb kabobs not worth it. Accompanying sauces and yogurts not impressive. Also as the weather turned to winter this restaurant was cold even with the oven in the middle of the restaurant. Service was so so. read more

FIYA has friendly service and fair prices, but I have been twice and think that the food is just ok. The pita is wood-fired, but lacking in flavor. Green shakshouka is not bad, but basically just garlicky spinach and eggs. Other items are similar; nothing is bad, but nothing really stood out. read more

Sat at bar for an appetizer and drink. food we had falafel) was great but the service was the worst I have experienced in a very long time. The bar tender actively avoided eye contact with the 9 people at the bar. Never asked if we needed another drink. Gave us wrong food and then when our food came we had no silverware - she rolled her eyes when we asked for assistance and didn't come so we had to grab silverware from another table. Waited for over 20 min for a check while the 5 people working here chatted and checked their phones on the far end of the bar by the kitchen. No one made eye contact. Bar tender actually huffed when we asked for our check. Had a completely different experience for dinner at Little Bad Wolfe. Suggest you walk down the street and support them. read more

Popped into Fiya unexpectedly because our intended restaurant had too long of a wait, but wow we were very pleasantly surprised with our visit! The vibey atmosphere easily lured us in. The wood-burning oven added to the aesthetic, but also the coziness of the environment, especially on a cold, winter night. They were booked to capacity but luckily had bar seating available. The bartender was kind, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. It was the food, though, that WOWed us the most! Ordered the Gem Lettuce Salad, Boureka, and Moroccan Fish. We were blown away by the Boureka. One of the most delicious and unique tasting foods we've had in awhile. The fish was saucey, flavorful, and flakey. The overall experience couldn't have been better. Very excited for our next visit! read more

My first visit to FIYA was good but not as good as I expected. I have been to this restaurant many times when it was Jerry's and I was excited to try the new concept. We sat in the patio, which is lovely. We started with Salatim, which was good, especially the hummus. I had the cauliflower as my main course and my companion had the wood oven chicken pita. My companion liked his dish but I thought the cauliflower was bland, nothing special. I liked the creme fraiche and Zhug that accompanied it but it lacked salt and some spice. Our cocktails were good and I would have ordered a second round but our waiter never came back to check on us after we were served our meals. Overall it was good enough and I will go back but I won't order the cauliflower again. read more

Great wine and beer selection, but we bailed when we couldn't read the 4 page QR code menu with a stylized typeface that might look good when printed out but was indecipherable on my phone . We ordered one unremarkable appetizer, then ditched the place for a much better Mediterranean dinner down the street at Andie's. Seriously, lockdown's over. Give me a f***ing paper menu that I can hold in my hands and read. read more

The carryout chicken pita was very tasty. the yellow sauce is good & grilled onions. Ask for the yoghurt dill sauce on the side. Otherwise, it will be soggy on carryout. The potato skins were good , but not warm to take out. I placed the bag in a 2nd bag.... . I had tried the patio previously and then only found out 15 minutes after being seated, that the food service would not open until 4 p.m. but drinks were offered for sale. as a Prelude. However, I didnt want to wait 45 minutes to order food. That would have added another 30 minutes to get food PROBABLY. So that would equal 1.25 hrs. total...no thanks.... So I left that day. read more

Just ordered takeout from Fiya on a whim and couldn't have been happier. Our pickup order was waiting on the counter when we arrived. We ordered the falafel pita, cauliflower hummus, and one order of salatim and it was more than enough food for the two of us. Every bite was spectacular. I will definitely be back! read more

Had a nice Kofta wrap for lunch on the beautiful patio and enjoyed it enough to go for dinner while the weather is patio-friendly. The patio remained great but our server was either high or just flippant and uninterested. The pita was very thick and doughy and the salatim was not enough for sharing ( ex: we had a teeny tiny scoop of babaghanoush, slightly more carrots and salad) so being still hungry, we ordered hummus, OY! What a mess of thin beige stuff and whole garbanzos with way too much oil and no taste of tahini or garlic or any seasoning. We didn't complain because our server was so disconnected so we ordered decaf coffee but "sorry, we're all out." Came home and had a bowl of cereal and cheese and crackers. Go for the patio and maybe for lunch. read more

So sad to have to say this- - but TOO RUDE to return!! I have loved Fiya since it opened last summer. I have been there many times and the food and drink never disappoint. It's a shame that the 2 men seating people could be so insanely rude both before dinner and after! I was meeting friends at 6pm tonight. I walked in about 6:01 - friend who made reservation was at the host desk checking in. They seemed to be disagreeing- -i was surprised as my friend is very mild mannered. I went over. The host was telling her that she had a reservation in the "back room"- my friend was positive she had made it for "back patio". The host was insanely condescending and said he was sure she made a mistake and did it for the wrong room. Quite interestingly I asked what the "back room" was- and was told it was a private dining room. I went online and looked and couldn't find a "back room" reservation. We were meeting and older couple who would only sit outside The host went back- and told us no option for "back patio". I asked about a tabe in front window- -and he was very rude and said" we can't ask people to leave for you" -- however- they had bill on the table. We sat down. It was then about 6:18 and we were worried about our friends and texted them. Turns our they had been in Back Patio - with our reservation since 5:59. Dinner was good- but I was annoyed. had hoped the host would come and apologize- but nope!! On the way out we said something. My friend pulled up her reservation for "back patio"- -and our friends who had been seated at theat reseveration were perplexed too. Both of these guys were just rude and fought with us- -and gave us every excuse- -many people on patio waiting for others in party- - we gave the wrong name- -they are just trying to work. It was so beyond offensive! They should have simply said- - "we are so sorry for whatever the confusion was. we hope you enjoyed your meal- and will come back". Nope- -just BEYOND RUDE!!!!!!!!!!! (I have to give 2 stars as the food is good) read more

Fiya had a cute patio and good food. The drinks weren't the best though. Our server was really nice.

Upon entering Fiya, you get excited. The smell of fresh pita and challah fills you with a special kind of feeling unique to a Mediterranean restaurant. However, the service combined with the actual food on the menu made my brunch utterly unbearable. The food lacked any sort of salt or really any true flavor. Theres was a point in my meal where everyone on staff around me was on their phones. I've worked in food service I understand checking your phone there's nothing wrong with that, however I had to flag down my server every time I needed something and there were long stints of the service staff being on their phones. The plating of my dates falafel pita was shameful and the flavor lacked the taste of what makes falafel delicious. I tried their take on green shakshuka which was just bland eggs and a ton of even more bland spinach. The hummus though, at the beginning of the meal was half decent. Although ruined by the kitchen adding raw garbanzo beans and a hard boiled egg? Now if your concern was price this is also not the place for you, all of our portions left us hungry and the final charge for two people was 70$. If you're looking for good Mediterranean, find a different restaurant. read more

What can I say. Food is great. Service is awful. Everything seems to take forever. From cocktails to get our waitress to stop rolling up utensils on napkins while we sit hoping to order this month. Hostess lady at the front. Maybe don't act like you're doing customers a favor by sitting them. Atmosphere really kills the potential vibe. read more

I give it a 0 rating . Worst experience that I have ever had in the 40 + years that I have been living in Chicago .We were a group of 4 couples having dinner on a Saturday evening enjoying ourselves and also trying to help the restaurants cope with the COVID pandemic. We had ordered the appetizers ( which were good) and drinks The drinks came very late and one person in my group commented to the waiter in jest that they shouldn't be late on the drinks bacause that's where the money is made. Suddenly the hostess came by and accused us of abusing the waiter and asked us to leave. The waiter was as bewildered as as us. She then accused us of calling her a bitch ( totally false). There was no reason for us to escalate this conversation and she then called us Mo -- F-- I have never been humiliated as such ever. I don't care how good the food is I will never ever go there Note to owners. If you treat your customers this way- all the best read more

We ate everything. Every single thing we ordered, it was delicious. The favorites were the falafel pita, the cauliflower hummus and the French toast. One of my favorite restaurants in Chicago! The patio here is definitely a hidden gem and is a great spot for an intimate dinner with friends. Fabulous food as well-- my friend and I got the roasted sweet potato, roasted cauliflower, and whole chicken... more than enough food for two people.
