I have avoided this place FOREVER based on appearances alone. I should've stuck to my guns. Time limits and work schedules are how I ended up in this greasy spoon on the first hot day of Spring. It's a bad looking place. Busted floor rugs and slippery tiles. The food is open buffet style and it's all dried out. I selected what I thought were chicken wings but turned out to be thighs (I don't like thighs) and vegetable lo mein. The chicken was chunked and fried without any particular focus on seasoning. The lo mein was a bland, dried out turrrible mess. Should've stayed away. Fix U Plate won't ever fix my plate again. read more

The cashier is so nasty, very rude & ignored me and my friends greeting. They overcharge people as well. I see why it's always empty in there. Full of shit. read more

The food has plenty of flavor, great customer service and wide options BUT I got to the very last bite and noticed the beef rib was green in the middle SMH ! They won't see me again. read more

Fix-U-Plate - Green on the inside - Caribbean Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

I asked a cashier question and she was very rude , very poor customer service . Food is good but the customer service is poor .

Stopped by to get a smoothie....not my first time coming into fix u plate not a huge fan of the food and service. I try to stick to the smoothies for a healthier and safer alternative. My experience tonight was pretty annoying...I noticed their was no one at the smoothie bar so I walked up to the register for help. The cashier told me a woman would help it was very back and fourth. I got the smoothie but was pretty unhappy with the service. Haven't gotten a smoothie ever since and the food is okay, during a pandemic I wouldn't suggest buffet food although they take safety precautions. You have to wash your hands before coming in and also you can't talk over the food. The customer service is alright. They have a wide variety of food but you gotta catch it when it's fresh fresh to get some good food. read more

The Ambiance is horrible the Service is terrible, the cashier was so rude didn't even say hello or have a good day , The food is not OK the was a hair in my food and that leads me to believe that the workers don't wear hairnets and that is sad the whole place over all is 1/10 please don't come here. read more

I swear I am there biggest fan for the last 4 years and lately I'm not. They want to charge you for the oxtails but don't want to cook them all the way through the same with the curry goat. Spent 50 dollars and I'm passed to say the least. Ins tead of watching everyone like a hawk they need to be cooking the meats thoroughly. I'll go to the other location and hopefully its not the same. I spend enough there to make this claim...... read more

First and last time I'll be ever dining at this restaurant. I usually have my reservations about dining at buffet restaurants but my friend reassured me it was ok. You walk in they have you wash and dry your hands. You can't talk over the food and no open toe shoes all due to the pandemic. But to take my food home and fine not one strand but several strands of hair is absolutely disgusting! read more

Fix-U-Plate - Hair found in my curry goat while eating. - Caribbean Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

Cashier is very disgusting & rude as if you're doing her a favor. I Said good afternoon & she just watched me with her hardened face. The younger one doesn't say anything because she know she is a disgusting person with a bad attitude. Cashier asked me cash or card & I said tap because there is a big sign that say tap accepted/preferred. She then proceeds to tell me my card doesn't work with her machine. Load of bs. I walk away to take my money elsewhere she calls me back & says. Sir ! She pulls out another machine & the card works. BS. She then proceeded to tell me next time walk with my card & I said no next time select the correct machine that you need to & fix your terrible attitude is bad for the atmosphere around food. Food is hit or miss. It's a buffet so if they don't bring out the food right away it sits there for while & they gravy isn't even turned. They always walk right up under you & behind u while you take out your food. Why am I being monitored. Food: 7/10 on a good day Service: negative 1/10 Ambiance: honestly 9/10 but the negativity brings the place down. Save your money & go to fisherman cove next door. You'll get your money worth. Less expensive taste better & FAR BETTER SERVICE read more

My sister got me a plate of jerk salmon and I've never been happier! This reminded me of everything I love about Caribbean food- especially with the extra gravy! The salmon was surprisingly not overcooked, and my mouth was on fire in a heavenly way. I would seriously consider this for my last meal on Earth- exceptionally pleased! read more

Best Caribbean in Canarsie hands down! Self serve and right next to the train. Best of all it taste like home cookin!

This place has to be the nastiest and unsanitary place I've ever been to. When you walk in they want you to wash your hands at a dirty sink with 99 cent soap. They also have no hand sanitizer and want you to touch that sink after everyone else has touched it. The food there didn't look appetizing and the from area was dirty. I wouldn't take a dog to this place. read more

Food was descent, was a little skeptical during a pandemic because it's buffet style. My daughter eats there so I decided to take a shot. When you walk in, there are signs posted no phone use, no outside gloves, must wear a mask, no talking near the food and you must wash your hands before serving your food. Food was seasoned well. I had the jerk chicken, jerk pork, rice and peas and channa and it was not salty. Will eat there again. read more

I go to this place all the time... ever since I took the chance and made the choice to go in and try the food I never stopped going... but after my experience with the cashier today I felt it necessary to give this review. I had 3 of the small styrofoam containers one had a meal for my husband with consisted of spinach rice, stewed peas 2 pieces of stew pork and 2 pieces of oxtail and some kale salad over it all... I put oxtail GRAVY in the other 2 containers(no oxtail). As I go to cash my purchase the young lady places the 1st container (with the oxtail) separately on the scale entered a cost into the register and then attempted to weigh the other 2 containers... when I asked her what she was doing she said she saw me take more than 5 pieces of oxtail... I didn't even take 5 pieces of a variation of meats let alone 5 pieces of oxtail... this is sheer distrust of the customers that is keeping you in business... I am absolutely horrified and utterly embarrassed at the treatment I received today. What I should have done was leave the food right there and walked out, let them deconstruct and see how much pieces of oxtail was in there. I asked for the manager and was told the manager wasn't there, I asked for the name of the manager and she refused to give me the name, she told me they do not give names out. Like really??!! Just goes to show the lack of professionalism and customer service at this establishment. I need to speak to management and will not stop until I get a hold of someone!! If you decide to go to this restaurant call someone to watch you take the oxtail out... bring it to their attention because they will rob you over a piece of oxtail if you hover over it too long... they charge $8.99 a lb vs $6.99 a lb if they suspect you took more than the allotted 5 pieces . #theoxtailnazi read more

Customer service needs to be checked seriously unprofessional and disrespectful. Don't ask to go to bathroom before you eat. Mind you I'm a regular customer . Young lady yesterday told me I had to be a paying customer. NO RESPONSE NECESSARY. How do you know if I was a going to eat or not? Why would I respond to your childish comment and stoop to your level of immaturity ? Walked out you will never get my business. And I will definitely tell my NYC Transit co workers this policy of yours.? A word of advice most people use he restroom before they eat . read more

Fix is a great fix when you get off the L or are in need of home cooked food you didn't cook. It is a Caribbean buffet so you will get traditional dishes out of the culture, mainly Jamaican. There are different prices and you can't speak over the food as you order. The ladies who stand on the side will not have it!! And that is a good thing. Been going here since early 2017 and will always support. Fisherman's Cove is a few doors over but they both have their food fans so both will do well. If you are looking for atmosphere this ain't it, but if you want a delicious dish this is reasonable cost wise and the staff are nice and courteous. Highly recommended. read more

Y'all know Canarsie barely has anything in terms of food. Or in terms of anything for that matter. So, when I saw this across the street from the L train I was like wait, WE HAVE MORE FOOD? I ran like hell to this place because I was dying to see what they serve. It's a Jamaican buffet. It's a no-frills joint so don't expect anything fancy but at least they have seats and a small tv to keep patrons entertained. There's small and large containers ready for customers to grab whatever it is their tastebuds desire. Like I said, it's Jamaican food so you'll see various types of rice & peas, oxtail, stew chicken, bbq chicken, bbq ribs, curry chicken, curry goat, stew fish, escovitch fish, stew peas and everything in between. There is also a salad and fruit area as well as a variety of juices to choose from including sorrell (there's a sorrell fountain fam LOL), peanut punch and homemade limeade among other things. Plus conventional soda, juice and water. Oh, and there's an in-house juice bar which I never purchased anything from but I saw one guy cop something. Fix-U-Plate closes at 1 am so if you need that late-night fix then they're open. Cash and cards are accepted but to use your card the minimum is $10. Finally someone came to their senses and took the leap in our lil far-away community. Phew. read more

I usually love this place but today I don't like it all all the salt fish taste like a bottle of salt its seems like they never ever boil the fish omg and I was craving for this since yesterday and this morning I got up and went to get some only for me to be disappointed. One of My Favorite Buffet Style Caribbean Resturant's. Food Is Always Available & Hot. They Have A Fresh Juice Bar. The Staff Is Always Friendly To Me & The Best Part Is. They Are Open Later Than The Rest of The Other Establishments In That Area. read more

They try their best to keep the full island clean and I appreciate that that's the reason for the first star. The second star comes because the staff are helpful especially the older woman she may not be the older woman but she seems like the more mature dark-skinned woman. The lady behind the counter the plus-size Diva who is always smiling is a joy to behold especially on the days in which I was not in the greatest of moods she had me smiling just because she's smiled. The third star is not a full star but a half because they have a wide selection of food and it is tasty. the food is not hot I would hate for the board of health to I come by and check the temperatures at any given time. I'm sure they do their best to make sure things are on point but the food is not hot when I come in and that's usually about 3 p.m. read more

used to love coming here mostly because of the convenient late store hrs. However, that all changed after my last visit. A friend and I were on our way out for the night and decided to grab a quick bite here. She was craving the Rasta pasta. I told her she should probably get something else because it looked like it was sitting out all day. Cravings always win. She got it anyway. We ate the food in the car en route to our destination. When we arrived, I noticed my friend was sweating profusely. She was feeling dizzy and in no time told me she was ready to go. We got outside and she threw up every bit of food she ate from Fix-u-plate. It was horrifying. Worst case of food poisoning I've ever seen. There is no way I could go back. I'm sure mistakes happen but there are just some things you can't unsee. They make some good sorrel though read more

This is my go to food on the go spot. Has a variety of dishes and lots of veggies and salads to choose from. They stress cleanliness and are always encouraging you to sanitize and never speak over the buffet. I like that. They also have a juice and smoothie section which is good as well. read more

Food was pretty good . I'd come again.. I wish the jerk pork could be a little more spicy but other than that no complaints

This place is terrible all the food is prepared yet it still takes an eternity to get it the taste is not that good and the place is humid

The cashier's of this restaurant are very rude no customer service at all never again will I give them o e penny of my hard end money. Not only are hot foods at room temperature but the staff in the back in the kitchen never fill up the foods what is the point in having a restaurant if everything always look like they been sitting there all day long. Eat at your own risk. read more

This was really a "last minute, it's late, I'm hungry" kind of stop. So it was pretty late but they still had a number of items still available. I can only imagine what it looks like with a fully loaded buffet. The menu is buffet style you pick what you want and it gets weighed so don't get too excited. This was one of the first Caribbean spots to offer good quality food so good work. The reason why I gave it 3 stars like the other reviewers, the customer service is not the best. I wasn't greeted once I walked to the register and it was like ok pay and leave type of attitude. I tried the stewed chicken and curried chicken with pigeon peas and rice with steamed cabbage and quinoa it was yummy. I would suggest everything that I had. read more

Would give zero stars if possible! As someone who once supported Fix-u-Plate, I am left disgusted. One day I attempted to receive a refund for food that was obviously spoiled, tasted by both my myself and family. The chicken had a foul and pungent odor and left a bitter aftertaste in my mouth. The associates stated that the food was completely fresh and that it could've been my palate. I assured him that I had the same meal 3 days ago, and was quite capable of recognizing spoiled food. After several minutes of speaking with the not only the associates of the store, but the owner himself, I was told that I could not receive a refund for my meal. I left the store nothing short of disappointed and aggravated. Do not support this business unless you're willing to eat spoiled food or deal with a business with poor customer service. read more

I love going here and get excited when my parents bring me food but today when I was eating I found a plastic in my food due to the fact that the food is exposed to customers and they can easily slip something in read more

Very Rude, not so attractive Cashiers. They literally make you not want to come back. Times are changing the age of the angry woman behind the counter is over. Learn the skills needed or don't be in customer service. read more

The food is fresh and delicious if you like Jamaican collard greens, baked macaroni and cheese and you taste the cheddar cheese and evaporated milk in it that makes it creamy and the escovitch fish was fresh. The only bad thing (why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5) is not enough seating so I can sit down and eat my meal before I get on the train. It's definitely Jamaican/Caribbean cooking that they serve and it tastes good. It is a no frills joint but the price and the food is right. read more

Fix U Plate spices up the food variety for us Canarsians & to boot the food is good! But I have to say the customer service ladies ALWAYS have a stink attitude & are more friendly with each other than the actual customers. As a Black owned business, they need to not be apart of the stereotype & step up their customer service if they want to succeed. Also the ones on the floor probably mean well by trying to assist people when they're choosing their meal, but it can be very nagging when they follow you around & constantly ask if you need help in the process. read more

I started going to this place because its right across the street from where I work and it was ok because I can't eat too much salt and I have never known a Jamaican restaurant that can drain all traces of salt from salt fish. Most of the other dishes were also good for people like me But they stole my money and my food today so I can no longer patronage them. I bought almost 30 bucks worth of food but when I got home I only had 15 bucks worth. I had a lot of tins with different dishes and the help took my dishes on a tray up to the counter but I was still buying food.So everything didn't ring up at one shot. But stuff happens. Its when I called the store that I had a problem, The low- budget cashier hung up on me. I wasn't angry when I called I just thought she forgot to give me the bag. Of course I called back. And she says there is no food back here. And got somebody to vouch for her who wasn't even in the picture when I was paying for the food. Now I found it funny that she knew exactly who I was and what I was talking about. Furthermore, the food was behind the counter so what happened to it. Either you put it back in the pot which would be disgusting or you gave it to one of your boyfriends or girlfriends or low -budget the cashier is now enjoying a big free meal of salt free curry goat and chicken. If you go here make sure you get all that you pay for because they will cheat you. read more
